The distribution of heavy metals in the agricultural areas from a cattle-producing area near the Zhangbei Dam grassland, Hebei province, China, was investigated for providing the basis for the control of pollution in a rural farmland. Fifty-three surface soil samples including 28 soils of potato and 25 soils of oats were collected and analyzed for the distribution of Cd, Cu, Pb, Zn, Cr, As, Hg, and Ni. Furthermore, the ecological risk of soils contaminated with heavy metals was evaluated by employing the single factor index, the Nemerow comprehensive pollution index and geo-accumulation index, and potential ecological hazard index. The results showed that the contents of the eight heavy metals in soil planted with potato were below the risk screening values. The single factor index in soils planted with hulless oats showed that the concentrations of Cd, Hg, and Ni surpassed the Chinese screening limits by 8%, 4%, and 8%, respectively. According to the geo-accumulation index, 4% of samples reached the level of medium ecological risk for Cd. According to the results of ecological risk assessment, the studied soils generally showed a mild pollution degree. According to the health risks assessment results, the carcinogenic risks should be considered non-negligible. Arsenic is the dominant carcinogenic pollutant for human beings in the county. The main sources of pollution are mining and application of fertilizers.

IntroductionDifferent studies provide conflicting evidence regarding the potential for glucocorticoids (GCs) to increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases. This study performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to determine the correlation between GCs and cardiovascular risk, including major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), death from any cause, coronary heart disease (CHD), heart failure (HF), and stroke.MethodsWe performed a comprehensive search in PubMed and Embase (from inception to June 1, 2022). Studies that reported relative risk (RR) estimates with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for the associations of interest were included.ResultsA total of 43 studies with 15,572,512 subjects were included. Patients taking GCs had a higher risk of MACE (RR = 1.27, 95% CI: 1.15–1.40), CHD (RR = 1.25, 95% CI: 1.11–1.41), and HF (RR = 1.92, 95% CI: 1.51–2.45). The MACE risk increased by 10% (95% CI: 6%–15%) for each additional gram of GCs cumulative dose or by 63% (95% CI: 46%–83%) for an additional 10 μg daily dose. The subgroup analysis suggested that not inhaled GCs and current GCs use were associated with increasing MACE risk. Similarly, GCs were linked to an increase in absolute MACE risk of 13.94 (95% CI: 10.29–17.58) cases per 1,000 person-years.ConclusionsAdministration of GCs is possibly related with increased risk for MACE, CHD, and HF but not increased all-cause death or stroke. Furthermore, it seems that the risk of MACE increased with increasing cumulative or daily dose of GCs.

Background The longitudinal trajectories of renal function have been associated with cardiovascular events in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). However, the change pattern of renal function in those without CKD has not yet been reported. We aim to explore patterns of renal function change in a non‐CKD population and its associated risks with cardiovascular outcomes. Methods and Results The present study analyzed data from 4 prospective cohorts and was restricted to participants without baseline CKD. The primary outcome was major adverse cardiovascular events, defined as a composite of myocardial infarction, chronic heart failure, stroke, and cardiovascular deaths. We used a group‐based trajectory model to identify latent groups and analyzed the associated risk with Cox regression models. The complete dates of this study were June 1, 2020, through January 1, 2021. The final sample comprised 23 760 participants (mean age, 58.63 [9.12] years, 10 618 men, and 17 799 White participants). During 20.56 years follow‐up, 8328 (35.05%) first major adverse cardiovascular events happened. Four trajectories in estimated glomerular renal function and 3 patterns of CKD progression were identified. Compared with subjects assigned to class I trajectory (high to mildly decreased group), the adjusted hazard ratios of major adverse cardiovascular events for class II (normal to mildly decreased group), class III (normal to moderately decreased group), and class IV (mildly to severely decreased group) were 1.11 (95% CI, 1.01–1.23), 1.27 (95% CI, 1.14–1.40), and 1.56 (95% CI, 1.38–1.77), respectively. Likewise, participants assigned to the slow and rapid progression groups had elevated HRs for major adverse cardiovascular events (1.75 [95% CI, 1.39–2.21] and 2.19 [95% CI, 1.68–2.86], respectively) when compared with the stable group. Findings were generally consistent in stratification analysis, but significant interaction effects by age and smoking status were detected. Conclusions In this study, we identified unique trajectory groups for renal function. These findings may signal an underlying high‐risk population and inspire future studies on individualized risk management.

Although fibronectin has been associated with the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis, little is currently known about the relationship between plasma fibronectin and coronary heart disease (CHD). This retrospective study aimed to determine the predictive value of plasma fibronectin for CHD and its severity. A total of 1644 consecutive patients who underwent selective coronary angiography were recruited into the present study. The characteristics and results of the clinical examination of all patients were collected. Logistic regression analyses were performed to determine the predictive value of plasma fibronectin for the presence and severity of CHD. Compared with non-CHD patients, the CHD patients showed significantly higher plasma levels of troponin I and creatine kinase isoenzyme, along with lower plasma levels of fibronectin. However, no significant differences were detected in plasma fibronectin among patients with different grades of CHD. The logistic regression model showed that plasma fibronectin remained an independent predictor of CHD after adjustment with a 1.39-fold increased risk for every 1 SD decrease in plasma fibronectin. Nevertheless, plasma fibronectin could not predict the severity of CHD determined by the number of stenosed vessels and the modified Gensini score. This study demonstrated that lower plasma fibronectin might be an independent predictor of CHD, but it may be of no value in predicting the severity of CHD.

Ocean observation has advanced rapidly in recent decades due to its crucial role in resource exploration and scientific research, with the Doppler factor being widely utilized. However, the precision of Doppler estimation is frequently constrained by frequency resolution. Traditional frequency estimation methods using single-tone signals face considerable challenges with low accuracy and poor robustness. In response, this paper introduces a novel Doppler-sensitive Acoustic Frequency Comb (AFC) for estimating the Doppler factor, enabling multiple measurements with a single transmission and reception of the signal. The proposed Combined Uneven Uncertainty (CUU) method based on AFC achieves a bias of less than 1.1x10-5, significantly surpassing the optimal result of 3.2x10-5 attained by other frequency estimation methods in the absence of noise. Compared to traditional single-tonemethods, the AFC approach improves spectral leakage performance and enhances estimation accuracy without increasing computational complexity. Experimental results demonstrate that the CUU method realizes a difference performance of less than 3.4x10-6, notably lower than that of 3.2x10-5 induced by coherent spectral leakage in fast Fourier Transform (FFT). It is important to detect and classify foreign fibers in cotton, especially white and transparent foreign fibers, to produce subsequent yarn and textile quality. There are some problems in the actual cotton foreign fiber removing process, such as some foreign fibers missing inspection, low recognition accuracy of small foreign fibers, and low detection speed. A polarization imaging device of cotton foreign fiber was constructed based on the difference in optical properties and polarization characteristics between cotton fibers. An object detection and classification algorithm based on an improved YOLOv5 was proposed to achieve small foreign fiber recognition and classification. The methods were as follows: (1) The lightweight network Shufflenetv2 with the Hard-Swish activation function was used as the backbone feature extraction network to improve the detection speed and reduce the model volume. (2) The PANet network connection of YOLOv5 was modified to obtain a fine-grained feature map to improve the detection accuracy for small targets. (3) A CA attention module was added to the YOLOv5 network to increase the weight of the useful features while suppressing the weight of invalid features to improve the detection accuracy of foreign fiber targets. Moreover, we conducted ablation experiments on the improved strategy. The model volume, mAP@0.5, mAP@0.5:0.95, and FPS of the improved YOLOv5 were up to 0.75 MB, 96.9%, 59.9%, and 385 f/s, respectively, compared to YOLOv5, and the improved YOLOv5 increased by 1.03%, 7.13%, and 126.47%, respectively, which proves that the method can be applied to the vision system of an actual production line for cotton foreign fiber detection.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the effectiveness of the Shengxuexiaoban Capsules combined with glucocorticoid therapy for immune thrombocytopenia (ITP).MethodsWe collected randomized controlled trials (RCTs) using shengxuexiaoban capsules in combination with glucocorticoid to treat ITP by searching major Chinese and English electronic databases. The outcome indicators were the effective rate, recurrence rate, the number of platelets in the blood, recovery time of platelets, and adverse reactions. We used STATA 16.0 and RevMan 5.3 for meta-analysis and GRADE pro. for evidence quality evaluation.ResultsA total of 27 RCTs were included in the meta-analysis, and the results showed a significant difference (all pConclusionGlucocorticoid therapy combined with the Shengxuexiaoban Capsules showed more effectiveness in the treatment of ITP. It can improve the effective rate, reduce the recurrence rate, increase the number of platelets and shorten the recovery time of platelets, and has a good safety profile.
