A pesar del creciente interés por la grima en los últimos años debido a su relevancia como una emoción culturalmente específica del ámbito español, aún desconocemos en gran medida su delimitación con respecto a la emoción del asco. En esta investigación abordamos la comprensión de las experiencias de grima mediante una metodología que combina enfoques deductivos e inductivos. Los resultados sugieren que la mayoría de las experiencias están relacionadas con situaciones que involucran chirridos y el arañado de superficies, seguidas de situaciones relacionadas con un dominio del asco conocido como trasgresiones de la envoltura corporal. Asimismo, se observó que las experiencias de grima eran más frecuentes en entornos educativos, aunque abarcaban una amplia gama de contextos, a excepción del ámbito institucional. Se discuten las implicaciones teóricas y metodológicas de estos resultados.

Background: The retention of foreign bodies inside the body during ludic/sexual procedures or for traumatism represents one of the causes of visits to accident and emergency departments that often requires surgical removal of the foreign body. However, there are cases where the discovery of such foreign bodies takes place after many years, as in patients that are slightly compromised from a neuro-sociological point of view. Case presentation: A 76-year-old male presented to an outpatient urological examination due to an increase in scrotal volume. At the ultrasound check, an acoustic interference from a solid object was detected, for which computed tomography was requested. The computed tomography scan revealed the presence of an elongated metal body in the perineum. The removal of the foreign body in the operating theatre was then scheduled. A 10 cm long stainless-steel nail located within an abscessed foreign body granuloma was identified and removed via a scrotal access. Four days later, a new surgical toilet was performed due to minimal necrosis of the skin flaps. The patient then performed three more dressings in the operating theatre during the following week. Healing took place by secondary intention until a perfect healing of the surgical wound was obtained. Conclusions: Removal of foreign bodies from the perineum in case of infection can be challenging. Careful attention and postoperative dressings are crucial for the success of the case.

The practice of teleworking is being consistently and unprecedently used across multiple work sectors, including the research one, yet the direct and mediated links of specific telework designs with productivity are unclear, and analyses at multiple levels missing. Accordingly, this study aims at exploring the mediating role of the climate for well-being and well-being outcomes in the relationship between multiple components of teleworking and scientific productivity, both at the individual and team level. Data were collected from 358 members of 48 Spanish European Research Council (ERC)-granted teams. Analyses were conducted both at the individual and team level, after checking for the relevant aggregation indexes. Telework components of quantity, frequency, flexibility, and voluntariness were found to have direct and mediated significant relationships with scientific productivity, confirming the need to investigate telework with a closer focus on how it is designed and implemented in the different teams. Specifically, climate for well-being, eudaimonic well-being, and negative emotions were found to play a relevant role in mediating the relationship between some telework components (i.e., telework flexibility and voluntariness) and scientific productivity. Also, telework quantity and frequency were found to have, respectively, positive and negative relationship with scientific productivity. Practical and theoretical implications are further discussed in the article.

Abstract Background: Non-technical skills (NTS) are the cognitive and social skills that integrate the technical skills of a worker. In healthcare systems, NTS exert positive effects on patients’ safety and healthcare professionals’ efficiency. Aim: This study aims to assess the degree of NTS knowledge, before and after a workshop administered to a group of 17 nursing students attending a critical care nursing postgraduate course at the University of Florence. Methods: A cross-over design study was conducted. The workshop was composed of short lectures on “fundamentals of teamworking” and “team building and communication”, followed by team activities and gaming. At the end of the day a medical “escape room” about a shock scenario, was developed and run by the students. A questionnaire investigating participants’ entertainment and self-evaluation of NTS use, was administered at the end of the simulation sessions. Results: A sample of 17 nurses was enrolled. Pre-posttests were completed by 16 participants. Seventy-five % (n=12) of the respondents found the team working activities exciting. Most of the participants (62.5%, n=10) considered the “escape shock room game” enjoyable and stimulating and would recommend the learning activities to other healthcare professionals (75%, n=12). Este texto desarrolla la tesis de la interrelación entre sociedad y mundo natural, como marco de comprensión de la pandemia de la COVID-19. Esta interrelación depende de las características de actantes no humanos y humanos. Los análisis desarrollados inciden sobre aquellas características del virus que han incidido en mayor medida sobre la vida social. Se destacan aquellos rasgos de nuestra sociedad que se relacionan más directamente con la pandemia: globalizada, desigual, reflexiva y de riesgo, organizada e individualizada, y mediática. Se muestra cómo la pandemia ha sido gobernada de distintas maneras a lo largo del tiempo, en lo que podemos denominar gobierno adaptativo. Las conclusiones inciden sobre la importancia de análisis complejos sobre la interrelación entre actantes humanos y no humanos.

En este artículo analizamos el marco de participación en un corpus compuesto de 30 horas de sesiones en línea entre estudiantes de pregrado, sus profesores y expertos internacionales sobre innovación y emprendimiento. Presentamos una interacción multimodal de lenguaje verbal y corporal para el análisis de eventos momento a momento de interacción social en contextos de aprendizaje colaborativo en línea, enfocándonos en la manera en la que los participantes interactúan tanto con expresión verbal como no verbal. Se han podido identificar los vínculos entre participantes en procesos interactivos que siguen patrones y estructuras similares. Por ejemplo, la innovación se muestra en situaciones colaborativas y distribuidas de grupos de trabajo estructurados que fomentan dinámicas para incentivar el intercambio de conocimiento e ideas. Gracias al análisis de interacción multimodal es posible explorar procesos grupales innovadores y obtener nuevos conocimientos sobre cómo estos procesos surgen de manera colaborativa de los grupos.

El ámbito científico-académico y la organización de los grupos de investigación se han transformado y complejizado profundamente, lo que ha llevado a investigadores e investigadoras a experimentar tensiones y contradicciones en términos de interdependencia/autonomía y verticalidad/horizontalidad. En este artículo abordamos cómo el personal científico gestiona estas tensiones a través de un análisis discursivo de entrevistas semiestructuradas a integrantes de grupos de investigación españoles de «alto rendimiento» de diferentes disciplinas y rangos, combinadas con observaciones etnográficas. Nos centramos en cómo se enuncia el sujeto, individual y colectivo, estudiando el uso de pronombres y otros términos que representan el grupo. Proponemos que, a pesar de una vocación colaborativa, el grupo se concibe como el marco donde hay individuos que trabajan autónomamente y, ocasionalmente, confluyen. Factores como las trayectorias profesionales y la posición de miembros en el equipo, la diversidad de edades y la organización espacial de los grupos condicionan el apego expresivo a formas más o menos colectivas de colaboración.

The teaching-learning process of reading and writing has great relevance in the psycho-emotional and socio-psychological development of school-age children. This is an exercise in which they develop imagination, attention and memory capacity and through this process the management of emotions and sensitivity and capacity of apprehension of reality. The crisis derived from the COVID-19 pandemic transformed reality in an unprecedented way in the recent history of humanity and the educational context was shaken by all these changes. With confinement, the teaching-learning process of reading and writing, which is designed to take place in person, had to be developed in a hybrid or online way, which was a major challenge for teachers and families and, of course, also for children who were in the process of learning. One of the aspects that was blurred in this context was the role of the teacher, which in this case is one of the most important elements, to achieve adequate learning of reading and writing. On one hand, the teacher is in charge of helping to manage the emotions derived from the learning process itself and, on the other hand, he is a key figure so that this is not only technical learning but also contributes to the child’s socio-emotional development. The aim of this study was to analyze the impact of the socio-psychological changes that have occurred in the educational context since the COVID-19 pandemic on the emotions linked to the teaching process, learning of reading and writing through a systematic review of the studies carried out on the subject, in order to provide recommendations for face-to-face learning in the post-COVID-19 era. A systematic review strategy was devised and the literature search was conducted. The search was conducted using ERIC, Dialnet, Scopus, WoS, EBSCO, and Google Scholar databases. This systematic review took place during the month of May 2022. The results show that given the scarce presence of empirical studies on the subject, the objective has only been partially met. However, a systematic review of the studies carried out on the subject. For the identification of recommendations in the development of face-to-face learning in the post-covid era, it has been possible to identify some ideas of interest for future curricular designs in primary school students who are immersed in learning to read and write.

ABSTRACT: Since the launch of the Strategic Partnership in 1999, the European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean countries have formed a political agenda for bi-regional dialogues. In this study we present a comprehensive analysis of the political and the technical levels of the bi-regional cooperation. The analytical approach that we develop to study bi-regional STI relations is based on a thorough examination of the legal foundations of the EU, which allows for assessment of the possibilities and limits. We identify the LAC dimension of the EU’s scientific policies, offering an overview of the challenges and achievements of bi-regional STI cooperation. These are derived from an analysis of limitations in the current cooperation programs. Additionally, the latter is being connected to the discussion of support needs that are raised by the survey participants. We provide a list of suggestions for further instruments and activities, as the main motive is to strengthen and widen the cooperation with concrete actions.

The chaotic adaptation to hybrid work during the COVID-19 pandemic has meant that workers still do not know how professional dynamics function correctly in this new context. In this paper, we focus on new issues that have arisen in this era of hybrid work, with the aim of improving performance, conciliation, and well-being in the specific professional environments of universities and research institutes. We will show the results from a non-representative survey comprising 451 scientists. Aspects such as management and leadership over their work, the purpose to achieve something innovative in their work, and promoting well-being in their work spaces and co-workers, have been observed and identified in the survey. The figure of a leader emerges as someone who is communicative, collaborative, and that helps colleagues and their professional development. We suggest that a tightrope walker leader, that is, one who knows how to strike a balance between individual needs and collective interests, could be the key to ensuring the well-being of scientists.

This study will seek answers to a research question that aims to evaluate the patterns and the structure of pandemics and their spread in different ages and territories, always taking into account the COVID-19 pandemic: what is the significance and role of emotional contagion in how people behave during the current COVID-19 pandemic, and how do emotions spread across society from person to person, like viruses? Our methodology is based on mapping previous experiences on how societies faced collapse due to epidemic outbreaks to answer this research question. Moreover, we present an autoethnography to revise moment by moment how professional and private lives are being affected by this pandemic right now.

Purpose: The purpose of this article is to explore how information and communication technologies have affected the way in which research groups are connected in their professional setting. It also analyses the techniques of interaction and cooperation of research groups, the exploration of information and the gateway to information, as well as the main tendencies and variations that researchers have observed during the last years. Design/methodology/approach: A survey was proposed to 305 scholars from different areas observing 159 variable responses. In order to complement and correctly interpret the information gathered within the survey, selected researchers were interviewed, and some of their opinions are reported in this work. Findings: Researchers see how their scientific networks expand thanks to digital tools, establishing professional relationships with other researchers. Moreover, researchers want to increase the amount of their scientific collaboration but they also need analogical meetings with others researchers, where face-to-face relations can accomplish the lack of this in digital communication. Originality: The dominance of tools used in scientific network activity is mixed, composed of analogical and digital ones. Researchers recognize the primary role assumed by digital practices in their work, increasing the quantity and the quality of it thanks to the efficiency and the access to information from different parts of the world. Social implication: Digital transformation has modified the research practices of researchers, from communication among them to the management of data. This new context of professional relations opens innovative implications and approaches for sharing knowledge between researchers and international collaborations.
