We exploit the widening margin in tensor-core performance between [FP64/FP32/FP16/INT8,FP64/FP32/FP16/FP8/INT8] on NVIDIA [Ampere,Hopper] GPUs to boost the performance of output accuracy-preserving mixed-precision computation of Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) of 305K patients from the UK BioBank, the largest-ever GWAS cohort studied for genetic epistasis using a multivariate approach. Tile-centric adaptive-precision linear algebraic techniques motivated by reducing data motion gain enhanced significance with low-precision GPU arithmetic. At the core of Kernel Ridge Regression (KRR) techniques for GWAS lie compute-bound cubic-complexity matrix operations that inhibit scaling to aspirational dimensions of the population, genotypes, and phenotypes. We accelerate KRR matrix generation by redesigning the computation for Euclidean distances to engage INT8 tensor cores while exploiting symmetry.We accelerate solution of the regularized KRR systems by deploying a new four-precision Cholesky-based solver, which, at 1.805 mixed-precision ExaOp/s on a nearly full Alps system, outperforms the state-of-the-art CPU-only REGENIE GWAS software by five orders of magnitude.

The precision of link-level theoretical performance analysis for emerging wireless communication paradigms is critical. Recent studies have demonstrated the excellent fitting capabilities of the mixture gamma (MG) distribution in representing small-scale fading in outdoor terahertz (THz)-band scenarios. Our study establishes an in-depth performance analysis for outdoor point-to-point THz links under realistic configurations, incorporating MG small-scale fading combined with the misalignment effect. We derive closed-form expressions for the bit-error probability, outage probability, and ergodic capacity. Furthermore, we conduct an asymptotic analysis of these metrics at high signal-to-noise ratios and derive the necessary convergence conditions. Simulation results, leveraging precise measurement-based channel parameters in various configurations, closely align with the derived analytical equations.

As advancements close the gap between current device capabilities and the requirements for terahertz (THz)-band communications, the demand for terabit-per-second (Tbps) circuits is on the rise. This paper addresses the challenge of achieving Tbps data rates in THz-band communications by focusing on the baseband computation bottleneck. We propose leveraging parallel processing and pseudo-soft information (PSI) across multicarrier THz channels for efficient channel code decoding. We map bits to transmission resources using shorter code-words to enhance parallelizability and reduce complexity. Additionally, we integrate channel state information into PSI to alleviate the processing overhead of soft decoding. Results demonstrate that PSI-aided decoding of 64-bit code-words halves the complexity of 128-bit hard decoding under comparable effective rates, while introducing a 4 dB gain at a $10^{-3}$ block error rate. The proposed scheme approximates soft decoding with significant complexity reduction at a graceful performance cost.

As urban air mobility (UAM) emerges as a transformative solution to urban transportation, the demand for robust communication frameworks capable of supporting high-density aerial traffic becomes increasingly critical. An essential area of communications improvement is reliably characterizing and minimizing interference on UAM aircraft from other aircraft and ground vehicles. To achieve this, reliable and accurate line-of-sight (LOS) models must be used. In this work, we highlight the limitations of a LOS probability model extensively used in the literature in accurately predicting interference caused by smart ground vehicles. Then, we introduce a novel probability of LOS model that improves interference prediction by incorporating the urban topography and the dynamic positioning of ground vehicles on streets. Our model's parameters are derived from extensive simulations and validated through real-world urban settings to ensure reliability and applicability.

For next-generation green communication systems, this article proposes an innovative communication system based on frequency-diverse array-multiple-input multiple-output (FDA-MIMO) technology, which aims to achieve high data rates while maintaining low power consumption. This system utilizes frequency offset index realign modulation, multiple-antenna spatial index modulation, and spreading code index modulation techniques. In the proposed generalized code index modulation-aided frequency offset realign multiple-antenna spatial modulation (GCIM-FORMASM) system, the coming bits are divided into five parts: spatial modulation bits by activating multiple transmit antennas, frequency offset index bits of the FDA antennas, including frequency offset combination bits and frequency offset realign bits, spreading code index modulation bits, and modulated symbol bits. Subsequently, this paper utilizes the orthogonal waveforms transmitted by the FDA to design the corresponding transmitter and receiver structures and provide specific expressions for the received signals. Meanwhile, to reduce the decoding complexity of the maximum likelihood (ML) algorithm, we propose a three-stage despreading-based low complexity (DBLC) algorithm leveraging the orthogonality of the spreading codes. Additionally, a closed-form expression for the upper bound of the average bit error probability (ABEP) of the DBLC algorithm has been derived. Analyzing metrics such as energy efficiency and data rate shows that the proposed system features low power consumption and high data transmission rates, which aligns better with the concept of future green communications. The effectiveness of our proposed methods has been validated through comprehensive numerical results.

We introduce Annealed Multiple Choice Learning (aMCL) which combines simulated annealing with MCL. MCL is a learning framework handling ambiguous tasks by predicting a small set of plausible hypotheses. These hypotheses are trained using the Winner-takes-all (WTA) scheme, which promotes the diversity of the predictions. However, this scheme may converge toward an arbitrarily suboptimal local minimum, due to the greedy nature of WTA. We overcome this limitation using annealing, which enhances the exploration of the hypothesis space during training. We leverage insights from statistical physics and information theory to provide a detailed description of the model training trajectory. Additionally, we validate our algorithm by extensive experiments on synthetic datasets, on the standard UCI benchmark, and on speech separation.

In this paper, we propose a new model for indoor THz communication assisted by RIS. We conduct a realistic modeling of indoor obstacles and analyze their impact on performance. Order statistics are applied to calculate the cumulative distribution functions (CDFs) of distances from the transmitter to the selected RIS, i.e., the nearest RIS in the bounded indoor environment to the transmitter, and from the selected RIS to the receiver. We calculate the coverage probability (CP) as a function of RIS number, obstacle density, room size, and the transmitter's location. By comparing the numerical results obtained from the analytical expressions with Monte Carlo simulations, we verify the accuracy of our analysis. Through numerical results, it is observed that room size and obstacle density affect the CP in a significant way. This work studies the beamforming design in the joint target sensing and proactive eavesdropping (JTSAPE) system. The JTSAPE base station (BS) receives the information transmitted by the illegal transmitter and transmits the waveform for target sensing. The shared waveform also serves as artificial noise to interfere with the illegal receiver, thereby achieving proactive eavesdropping. We firstly optimize the transmitting beam of the BS to maximize the eavesdropping signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio or minimize the target estimation parameter Cram{\'{e}}r-Rao bound, respectively. Then, the joint optimization of proactive eavesdropping and target sensing is investigated, and the normalized weighted optimization problem is formulated. To address the complexity of the original problem, the formulated problem is decomposed into two subproblems: proactive eavesdropping and target sensing, which are solved by the semi-definite relaxation technique. Furthermore, the scenario in which the quality of the eavesdropping channel is stronger than that of the illegal channel is considered. We utilize the sequential rank-one constraint relaxation method and iteration technique to obtain the high-quality suboptimal solution of the beam transmit covariance matrix. Integrated satellite, aerial, and terrestrial networks (ISATNs) represent a sophisticated convergence of diverse communication technologies to ensure seamless connectivity across different altitudes and platforms. This paper explores the transformative potential of integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) into ISATNs, leveraging advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) capabilities to enhance these networks. We outline the current architecture of ISATNs and highlight the significant role LLMs can play in optimizing data flow, signal processing, and network management to advance 5G/6G communication technologies through advanced predictive algorithms and real-time decision-making. A comprehensive analysis of ISATN components is conducted, assessing how LLMs can effectively address traditional data transmission and processing bottlenecks. The paper delves into the network management challenges within ISATNs, emphasizing the necessity for sophisticated resource allocation strategies, traffic routing, and security management to ensure seamless connectivity and optimal performance under varying conditions. Furthermore, we examine the technical challenges and limitations associated with integrating LLMs into ISATNs, such as data integration for LLM processing, scalability issues, latency in decision-making processes, and the design of robust, fault-tolerant systems. The study also identifies key future research directions for fully harnessing LLM capabilities in ISATNs, which is crucial for enhancing network reliability, optimizing performance, and achieving a truly interconnected and intelligent global network system.

The extensive deployment of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites introduces significant security challenges for communication security issues in Internet of Things (IoT) networks. With the rising number of satellites potentially acting as eavesdroppers, integrating Physical Layer Security (PLS) into satellite communications has become increasingly critical. However, these studies are facing challenges such as dealing with dynamic topology difficulties, limitations in interference analysis, and the high complexity of performance evaluation. To address these challenges, for the first time, we investigate PLS strategies in satellite communications using the Stochastic Geometry (SG) analytical framework. We consider the uplink communication scenario in an LEO-enabled IoT network, where multi-tier satellites from different operators respectively serve as legitimate receivers and eavesdroppers. In this scenario, we derive low-complexity analytical expressions for the security performance metrics, namely availability probability, successful communication probability, and secure communication probability. By introducing the power allocation parameters, we incorporate the Artificial Noise (AN) technique, which is an important PLS strategy, into this analytical framework and evaluate the gains it brings to secure transmission. In addition to the AN technique, we also analyze the impact of constellation configuration, physical layer parameters, and network layer parameters on the aforementioned metrics.

Despite being trained on massive and diverse datasets, speech self-supervised encoders are generally used for downstream purposes as mere frozen feature extractors or model initializers before fine-tuning. The former severely limits the exploitation of large encoders, while the latter hurts the robustness acquired during pretraining, especially in low-resource scenarios. This work explores middle-ground solutions, conjecturing that reducing the forgetting of the self-supervised task during the downstream fine-tuning leads to better generalization. To prove this, focusing on speech recognition, we benchmark different continual-learning approaches during fine-tuning and show that they improve both in-domain and out-of-domain generalization abilities. Relative performance gains reach 15.7% and 22.5% with XLSR used as the encoder on two English and Danish speech recognition tasks. With the deployment of satellite constellations, Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices in remote areas have gained access to low-cost network connectivity. In this paper, we investigate the performance of IoT devices connecting in up-link through low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites to geosynchronous equatorial orbit (GEO) links. We model the dynamic LEO satellite constellation using the stochastic geometry method and provide an analysis of end-to-end availability with low-complexity and coverage performance estimates for the mentioned link. Based on the analytical expressions derived in this research, we make a sound investigation on the impact of constellation configuration, transmission power, and the relative positions of IoT devices and GEO satellites on end-to-end performance.

Received signal strength (RSS)--based cooperative localization has gained significant attention due to its straightforward system architectures and cost-effectiveness. In this paper, we propose Cooperative Localization Techniques (with Unknown Parameters), referred to as CTUP(s), which consider uncertainty in anchor nodes' locations and assume the transmit power and \textcolor{blue}{path loss exponent (PLE)} to be unknown. Unlike prior studies, CTUP(s) address unknowns by estimating these parameters, along with the location of target nodes. The non-convex and non-linear nature of the maximum likelihood (ML) estimator of the problem is addressed through relaxation techniques, employing Taylor series expansion, semidefinite relaxation (SDR), and the epigraph method. The resulting problem is solved using semidefinite second-order cone programming (SDP-SOCP), leveraging the precision of SDP and the simplicity of SOCP. We deployed an extensive network comprising 50 BLE nodes covering an area of 640~m $\times$ 180~m to gather RSS data. The precise location of the nodes is obtained using real-time kinematics global positioning system (RTK-GPS), which is treated as the ground truth. Furthermore, to replicate real-world scenarios, we recorded the positions of the anchor nodes using a standard GPS, thereby introducing uncertainty into the anchor node locations. Extensive simulation and hardware experimentation demonstrate the superior performance of CTUP compared to existing techniques.

In this work, a delay-tolerant unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) relayed covert and secure communication framework is investigated. In this framework, a legitimate UAV serves as an aerial relay to realize communication when the direct link between the terrestrial transmitter and receiver is blocked and also acts as a friendly jammer to suppress the malicious nodes presented on the ground. Subsequently, considering the uncertainty of malicious nodes' positions, a robust fractional programming optimization problem is built to maximize energy efficiency by jointly optimizing the trajectory of the UAV, the transmit power of the transmitter, and the time-switching factor. For the extremely complicated covert constraint, Pinsker's inequality, Jensen's inequality, and the bisection search method are employed to construct a tractable shrunken one. After this, an alternate optimization-based algorithm is proposed to solve the fractional programming optimization problem. To achieve low complexity, we design the primal-dual search-based algorithm and the successive convex approximation-based algorithm, respectively, for each sub-problem. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) play an essential role in future wireless communication networks due to their high mobility, low cost, and on-demand deployment. In air-to-ground links, UAVs are widely used to enhance the performance of wireless communication systems due to the presence of high-probability line-of-sight (LoS) links. However, the high probability of LoS links also increases the risk of being eavesdropped, posing a significant challenge to the security of wireless communications. In this work, the secure communication problem in a multi-UAV-assisted communication system is investigated in a moving airborne eavesdropping scenario. To improve the secrecy performance of the considered communication system, aerial eavesdropping capability is suppressed by sending jamming signals from a friendly UAV. An optimization problem under flight conditions, fairness, and limited energy consumption constraints of multiple UAVs is formulated to maximize the fair sum secrecy throughput. Given the complexity and non-convex nature of the problem, we propose a two-step-based optimization approach. The first step employs the $K$-means algorithm to cluster users and associate them with multiple communication UAVs. Then, a multi-agent deep deterministic policy gradient-based algorithm is introduced to solve this optimization problem. Free-space optical (FSO) communication is a promising solution to support wireless backhaul links in emerging 6G non-terrestrial networks. At the link level, pointing errors in FSO links can significantly impact capacity, making accurate modeling of these errors essential for both assessing and enhancing communication performance. In this paper, we introduce a novel model for FSO pointing errors in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that incorporates three-dimensional (3D) jitter, including roll, pitch, and yaw angle jittering. We derive a probability density function for the pointing error angle based on the relative position and posture of the UAV to the ground station. This model is then integrated into a trajectory optimization problem designed to maximize energy efficiency while meeting constraints on speed, acceleration, and elevation angle. Our proposed optimization method significantly improves energy efficiency by adjusting the UAV's flight trajectory to minimize exposure to directions highly affected by jitter. The simulation results emphasize the importance of using UAV-specific 3D jitter models in achieving accurate performance measurements and effective system optimization in FSO communication networks. Winner-takes-all training is a simple learning paradigm, which handles ambiguous tasks by predicting a set of plausible hypotheses. Recently, a connection was established between Winner-takes-all training and centroidal Voronoi tessellations, showing that, once trained, hypotheses should quantize optimally the shape of the conditional distribution to predict. However, the best use of these hypotheses for uncertainty quantification is still an open question. In this work, we show how to leverage the appealing geometric properties of the Winner-takes-all learners for conditional density estimation, without modifying its original training scheme. Stratospheric solar-powered high-altitude platform stations (HAPS) have recently gained immense popularity for their ubiquitous connectivity and resilient operation while providing/catalyzing advanced mobile wireless communication services. They have particularly emerged as promising alternatives for economic coverage of remote areas in the world. This makes them suitable candidates to meet the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG-2030) for global connectivity. HAPS can provide line-of-sight (LoS) communications to the ground users in its ultra-wide coverage area. We propose to divide these users into multiple user groups and serve each group with a high-density flexible narrow spot beam, generated by the phased array antennas mounted on HAPS, to achieve high data rates. We carry out the user association and power allocation in a downlink (DL) non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) scheme in each user group. To improve the system performance, a sum rate maximization problem is formulated by jointly designing user grouping, user association, beam optimization, and power allocation while guaranteeing the quality-of-service (QoS) for users with limited power budget. We further investigate the outage performance of the users with the proposed approach as compared to the traditional scheme. Our findings reveal the significance of the joint design of communication parameters for enhanced system performance, optimum energy utilization, and resource allocation.

Among many envisaged drivers for the sixth generation, one is from the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals 2030 to eliminate digital inequality. Remote coverage in sparsely populated areas, difficult terrains, or emergency scenarios requires on-demand access and flexible deployment with minimal capex and opex. In this context, network-in-a-box (NIB) is an exciting solution that packs the whole wireless network into a single portable and re-configurable box to support multiple access technologies such as WiFi/2G/3G/4G/5G etc. In this paper, we propose low-altitude platform stations (LAPS) based NIBs with stratospheric high-altitude platform station (HAPS) as backhaul. Specifically, backhaul employs non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) with superposition coding at the transmitting HAPS and successive interference cancellation (SIC) at the receiving NIBs, whereas the access link (AL) employs superposition coding along with the regularized zero-forcing (RZF) precoding at the NIB in order to elevate the computational overhead from the ground users. The required number of airborne NIBs to serve a desired coverage area, their optimal placement, user association, beam optimization, and resource allocation are optimized by maximizing the sum rate of the AL while maintaining the quality of service. Our findings reveal the significance of thorough system planning and communication parameters optimization for enhanced system performance and best coverage under limited resources.

In complex environments with large discrete action spaces, effective decision-making is critical in reinforcement learning (RL). Despite the widespread use of value-based RL approaches like Q-learning, they come with a computational burden, necessitating the maximization of a value function over all actions in each iteration. This burden becomes particularly challenging when addressing large-scale problems and using deep neural networks as function approximators. In this paper, we present stochastic value-based RL approaches which, in each iteration, as opposed to optimizing over the entire set of $n$ actions, only consider a variable stochastic set of a sublinear number of actions, possibly as small as $\mathcal{O}(\log(n))$. The presented stochastic value-based RL methods include, among others, Stochastic Q-learning, StochDQN, and StochDDQN, all of which integrate this stochastic approach for both value-function updates and action selection. The theoretical convergence of Stochastic Q-learning is established, while an analysis of stochastic maximization is provided. Moreover, through empirical validation, we illustrate that the various proposed approaches outperform the baseline methods across diverse environments, including different control problems, achieving near-optimal average returns in significantly reduced time.

This paper introduces a federated learning framework tailored for online combinatorial optimization with bandit feedback. In this setting, agents select subsets of arms, observe noisy rewards for these subsets without accessing individual arm information, and can cooperate and share information at specific intervals. Our framework transforms any offline resilient single-agent $(\alpha-\epsilon)$-approximation algorithm, having a complexity of $\tilde{\mathcal{O}}(\frac{\psi}{\epsilon^\beta})$, where the logarithm is omitted, for some function $\psi$ and constant $\beta$, into an online multi-agent algorithm with $m$ communicating agents and an $\alpha$-regret of no more than $\tilde{\mathcal{O}}(m^{-\frac{1}{3+\beta}} \psi^\frac{1}{3+\beta} T^\frac{2+\beta}{3+\beta})$. This approach not only eliminates the $\epsilon$ approximation error but also ensures sublinear growth with respect to the time horizon $T$ and demonstrates a linear speedup with an increasing number of communicating agents. Additionally, the algorithm is notably communication-efficient, requiring only a sublinear number of communication rounds, quantified as $\tilde{\mathcal{O}}\left(\psi T^\frac{\beta}{\beta+1}\right)$. Furthermore, the framework has been successfully applied to online stochastic submodular maximization using various offline algorithms, yielding the first results for both single-agent and multi-agent settings and recovering specialized single-agent theoretical guarantees. We empirically validate our approach to a stochastic data summarization problem, illustrating the effectiveness of the proposed framework, even in single-agent scenarios.

To meet the demands of densely deploying communication and sensing devices in the next generation of wireless networks, integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) technology is employed to alleviate spectrum scarcity, while stochastic geometry (SG) serves as a tool for low-complexity performance evaluation. To assess network-level performance, there is a natural interaction between ISAC technology and the SG method. From ISAC network perspective, we illustrate how to leverage SG analytical framework to evaluate ISAC network performance by introducing point process distributions and stochastic fading channel models. From SG framework perspective, we summarize the unique performance metrics and research objectives of ISAC networks, thereby extending the scope of SG research in the field of wireless communications. Additionally, considering the limited discussion in the existing SG-based ISAC works in terms of distribution and channel modeling, a case study is designed to exploit topology and channel fading awareness to provide relevant network insights.

Isolating the desired speaker's voice amidst multiplespeakers in a noisy acoustic context is a challenging task. Per-sonalized speech enhancement (PSE) endeavours to achievethis by leveraging prior knowledge of the speaker's voice.Recent research efforts have yielded promising PSE mod-els, albeit often accompanied by computationally intensivearchitectures, unsuitable for resource-constrained embeddeddevices. In this paper, we introduce a novel method to per-sonalize a lightweight dual-stage Speech Enhancement (SE)model and implement it within DeepFilterNet2, a SE modelrenowned for its state-of-the-art performance. We seek anoptimal integration of speaker information within the model,exploring different positions for the integration of the speakerembeddings within the dual-stage enhancement architec-ture. We also investigate a tailored training strategy whenadapting DeepFilterNet2 to a PSE task. Terrain information is a crucial factor affecting the performance of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) networks. As a tutorial, this article provides a unique perspective on the completeness of terrain information, summarizing and enhancing the research on terrain-based UAV deployment. In the presence of complete terrain information, two highly discussed topics are UAV-aided map construction and dynamic trajectory design based on maps. We propose a case study illustrating the mutually reinforcing relationship between them. When terrain information is incomplete, and only terrain-related feature parameters are available, we discuss how existing models map terrain features to blockage probabilities. By introducing the application of this model with stochastic geometry, a case study is proposed to analyze the accuracy of the model. When no terrain information is available, UAVs gather terrain information during the real-time networking process and determine the next position by collected information. This real-time search method is currently limited to relay communication. In the case study, we extend it to a multi-user scenario and summarize three trade-offs of the method. Finally, we conduct a qualitative analysis to assess the impact of three factors that have been overlooked in terrain-based UAV deployment.

As the evolution of wireless communication progresses towards 6G networks, extreme bandwidth communication (EBC) emerges as a key enabler to meet the ambitious key performance indicator set for this next-generation technology. 6G aims for peak data rates of 1 Tb/s, peak spectral efficiency of 60 b/s/Hz, maximum bandwidth of 100 GHz, and mobility support up to 1000 km/h, while maintaining a high level of security. The capability of 6G to manage enormous data volumes introduces heightened security vulnerabilities, such as jamming attacks, highlighting the critical need for in-depth research into jamming in EBC. Understanding these attacks is vital for developing robust countermeasures, ensuring 6G networks can maintain their integrity and reliability amidst these advanced threats. Recognizing the paramount importance of security in 6G applications, this survey paper explores prevalent jamming attacks and the corresponding countermeasures in EBC technologies such as millimeter wave, terahertz, free-space optical, and visible light communications. By comprehensively reviewing the literature on jamming in EBC, this survey paper aims to provide a valuable resource for researchers, engineers, and policymakers involved in the development and deployment of 6G networks. Understanding the nuances of jamming in different EBC technologies is essential for devising robust security mechanisms and ensuring the success of 6G communication systems in the face of emerging threats.

The limited modulation bandwidth of the light emitting diodes (LEDs) presents a challenge in the development of practical high-data-rate visible light communication (VLC) systems. In this paper, a novel adaptive coded probabilistic shaping (PS)-based nonorthogonal multiple access (NOMA) scheme is proposed to improve spectral efficiency (SE) of VLC systems in multiuser uplink communication scenarios. The proposed scheme adapts its rate to the optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) by utilizing non-uniformly distributed discrete constellation symbols and low complexity channel encoder. Furthermore, an alternate optimization algorithm is proposed to determine the optimal channel coding rate, constellation spacing, and probability mass function (PMF) of each user. The extensive numerical results show that the proposed PS-based NOMA scheme closely approaches the capacity of NOMA with fine granularity. Presented results demonstrate the effectiveness of our scheme in improving the SE of VLC systems in multiuser scenarios. For instance, our scheme exhibits substantial SE gains over existing schemes, namely, the pairwise coded modulation (PCM), geometric shaping (GS), and uniform-distribution schemes. These findings highlight the potential of our approach to significantly enhance VLC systems.

This paper presents a conditional generative adversarial network (cGAN) that translates base station location (BSL) information of any Region-of-Interest (RoI) to location-dependent coverage probability values within a subset of that region, called the region-of-evaluation (RoE). We train our network utilizing the BSL data of India, the USA, Germany, and Brazil. In comparison to the state-of-the-art convolutional neural networks (CNNs), our model improves the prediction error ($L_1$ difference between the coverage manifold generated by the network under consideration and that generated via simulation) by two orders of magnitude. Moreover, the cGAN-generated coverage manifolds appear to be almost visually indistinguishable from the ground truth.

This paper addresses the difficulty of characterizing the time-varying nature of fading channels. The current time-invariant models often fall short of capturing and tracking these dynamic characteristics. To overcome this limitation, we explore using of stochastic differential equations (SDEs) and Markovian projection to model signal envelope variations, considering scenarios involving Rayleigh, Rice, and Hoyt distributions. Furthermore, it is of practical interest to study the performance of channels modeled by SDEs. In this work, we investigate the fade duration metric, representing the time during which the signal remains below a specified threshold within a fixed time interval. We estimate the complementary cumulative distribution function (CCDF) of the fade duration using Monte Carlo simulations, and analyze the influence of system parameters on its behavior. Finally, we leverage importance sampling, a known variance-reduction technique, to estimate the tail of the CCDF efficiently.

This work considers a multiple-input-single-output mmWave RSMA system wherein a base station serves two users in the presence of a passive eavesdropper. Different eavesdropping scenarios are considered corresponding to the overlapped resolvable paths between the main and the wiretap channels under the considered transmission schemes. The analytical expressions for the secrecy outage probability are derived respectively through the Gaussian Chebyshev quadrature method. Overlapped speech is notoriously problematic for speaker diarization systems. Consequently, the use of speech separation has recently been proposed to improve their performance. Although promising, speech separation models struggle with realistic data because they are trained on simulated mixtures with a fixed number of speakers. In this work, we introduce a new speech separation-guided diarization scheme suitable for the online speaker diarization of long meeting recordings with a variable number of speakers, as present in the AMI corpus. We envisage ConvTasNet and DPRNN as alternatives for the separation networks, with two or three output sources. To obtain the speaker diarization result, voice activity detection is applied on each estimated source. The final model is fine-tuned end-to-end, after first adapting the separation to real data using AMI. The system operates on short segments, and inference is performed by stitching the local predictions using speaker embeddings and incremental clustering. The results show that our system improves the state-of-the-art on the AMI headset mix, using no oracle information and under full evaluation (no collar and including overlapped speech). A major hurdle in widespread deployment of UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicle) in existing communications infrastructure is the limited UAV onboard energy. Therefore, this study considers solar energy harvesting UAVs for wireless communications. In this context, we consider three dimensional position optimization of a solar-powered UAV relay that connects a distant sensor field to an optical ground station (OGS) for data processing. The integrated sensor-UAV-OGS network utilizes radio frequency band for sensor-to-UAV links and the optical band for the UAV-to-OGS feeder link. Since atmospheric conditions affect both the harvested solar energy as well as the optical wireless signal, this study tackles UAV position optimization problems under various channel conditions such as clouds, atmospheric turbulence and dirt. From this study, we discover that the optimum position of the UAV -- that maximizes the end-to-end channel capacity -- is heavily dependent on the atmospheric channel conditions.

This review paper examines the concept and advancements in the evolving landscape of Dual-functional Radar Communication (DFRC) systems. Traditionally, radar and communication systems have functioned independently, but current research is actively investigating the integration of these functionalities into a unified platform. This paper discusses the motivations behind the development of DFRC systems, the challenges involved, and the potential benefits they offer. A discussion on the performance bounds for DFRC systems is also presented. The paper encompasses a comprehensive analysis of various techniques, architectures, and technologies used in the design and optimization of DFRC systems, along with their performance and trade-offs. With a motive of ubiquitous connectivity over the globe with enhanced spectral efficiency, intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRS) integrated satellite-terrestrial communications is a topic of research interest in an infrastructure-deficient remote terrains. In line with this vision, this paper entails the performance analysis of satellite-terrestrial networks leveraging both aerial and terrestrial IRS nodes, with the support of high altitude platforms over diverse fading channels including shadowed Rician, Rician, and Nakagami-$m$ fading channels. The merits of IRS in enhancing spectral efficiency is analyzed through closed-form expressions of outage probability and ergodic rate. Further, the average symbol error rate analysis for the higher-order quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) schemes such as hexagonal QAM, rectangular QAM, cross QAM, and square QAM is performed. Practical constraints like antenna gains, path loss, and link fading are considered to characterize the satellite terrestrial links. Finally, a comparison between the high-altitude platforms based IRS node and terrestrial IRS nodes is performed and various insights are drawn under various fading scenarios and path loss conditions. This paper contribute towards understanding and potential implementation of IRS-integrated satellite-terrestrial networks for efficient and reliable communication.
