The loss of ion cyclotron resonance frequencies (ICRF)-heated neutral beam injection ions in experimental advanced superconducting tokamak was numerically investigated by ORBIT code simulations. The effects of collisions and ripples on particle losses were taken into account, and the distributions of fast ions generated by different beams in combination with ICRF heating were calculated using the TRANSP code. Results showed that ICRF waves altered the orbital distributions of beam ions, causing an increase in trapped ions and fast ion losses. Additionally, for co-current injected beams, perpendicular injection resulted in higher fast ion losses in synergistic heating than tangential injection. The study also found that the synergistic effect of collisions and ripples enhanced fast ion losses, which were highly localized and generated a maximum heat load of 0.165 MW m−2 on the first wall. However, conducting synergy heating experiments at high plasma currents and low effective ion charge numbers can significantly reduce the loss of fast ions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

With the increased level of integration and miniaturization of modern electronics, high-power density electronics require efficient heat dissipation per unit area. To improve the heat dissipation capability of high-power electronic systems, advanced thermal interface materials (TIMs) with high thermal conductivity and low interfacial thermal resistance are urgently needed in the structural design of advanced electronics. Metal-, carbon- and polymer-based TIMs can reach high thermal conductivity and are promising for heat dissipation in high-power electronics. This review article introduces the heat dissipation models, classification, performances and fabrication methods of advanced TIMs, and provides a summary of the recent research status and developing trends of micro- and nanoscale TIMs used for heat dissipation in high-power electronics. High diversity and differential evolution profiles have been observed for DD34E/ Tc1 transposons; several families originating from these groups, such as DD34E/ ZB , DD34E/ SB , DD35E/ TR , DD36E/ IC, and DD38E/ IT , have been well defined. Even though Frisky , Tiang , Tsessebe, and Topi transposons have been identified in Anopheles gambiae , their taxonomic distribution and phylogenetic relationship in nature remain largely unknown. The evolutionary profiles of Frisky , Tiang , Tsessebe , and Topi homology transposons were investigated in the current study. In total, 254 homology transposons of Frisky , Tiang , Hob , Tsessebe, and Topi were obtained in 200 species by data mining. The phylogenetic tree revealed that these transposons were classified into five main clades (Frisky , Tiang , Hob , Tsessebe , and Topi) forming a monophyletic clade with 98% bootstrap support, belonging to the DD34E/ Tc1 group, and named as Skipper (SK). SK transposons show a wide distribution in animals; however, differential taxonomic distribution patterns were observed for the subfamilies of Frisky , Tiang , Hob , Tsessebe, and Topi ; extensive invasion of Frisky in animals was found, whereas Tiang , Hob , Tsessebe, and Topi were mainly detected in Diptera. SK elements share a similar structural organization and display high sequence identities across subfamilies. Evolutionary dynamics and structural analysis revealed that SK s in some species, such as Bombyx mori , Lordiphosa magnipectinata , Carassius gibelio , Triplophysa dalaica , and Silurus glanis , have recently evolved and present as intact copies, indicating that SK s in these genomes may be active. Simple Summary: Long terminal repeat retrotransposons (LTR-RTNs) are vital in genome evolution and diversity. The compact genomes of Tetraodontiformes provide an excellent model for studying LTR-RTN dynamics. An analysis of the genomes of ten tetraodontiform species revealed a total of 819 full-length LTR retrotransposon sequences classified into nine families spanning four distinct superfamilies. Among them, the Gypsy superfamily displayed the highest level of diversity. Takifugu stood out for having the highest abundance of LTR families and sequences. Evidence of recent LTR-RTN activity and multiple invasions was observed in specific tetraodontiform genomes. A total of 819 full-length LTR-RTN sequences were identified across these genomes, categorized into nine families belonging to four different superfamilies: ERV (Orthoretrovirinae and Epsilon retrovirus), Copia, BEL-PAO, and Gypsy (Gmr, Mag, V-clade, CsRN1, and Barthez). Control of convection plays an important role in heat transfer regulation, bio/chemical sensing, phase separation, etc. Current convection controlling systems generally depend on engineered energy sources to drive and manipulate the convection, which brings additional energy consumption into the system. Here the use of human hand as a natural and sustainable infrared (IR) radiation source for the manipulation of liquid convection is demonstrated. The fluid can sense the change of the relative position or the shape of the hand with the formation of different convection patterns. Besides the generation of static complex patterns, dynamic manipulation of convections can also be realized via moving of hand or finger. The use of such sustainable convections to control the movement of a floating "boat" is further achieved. The use of human hands as the natural energy sources provides a promising approach for the manipulation of liquid convection without the need of extra external energy, which may be further utilized for low‐cost and intelligent bio/chemical sensing and separation. The interest in endogenous retroviruses (ERVs) has been fueled by their impact on the evolution of the host genome. In this study, we used multiple pipelines to conduct a de novo exploration and annotation of ERVs in 13 species of the Caprinae subfamily. Through analyses of sequence identity, structural organization, and phylogeny, we defined 28 ERV groups within Caprinae, including 19 gamma retrovirus groups and 9 beta retrovirus groups. Notably, we identified four recent and potentially active groups prevalent in the Caprinae genomes. Additionally, our investigation revealed that most long noncoding genes (lncRNA) and protein-coding genes (PC) contain ERV-derived sequences. Specifically, we observed that ERV-derived sequences were present in approximately 75% of protein-coding genes and 81% of lncRNA genes in sheep. Similarly, in goats, ERV-derived sequences were found in approximately 74% of protein-coding genes and 75% of lncRNA genes. Our findings lead to the conclusion that the majority of ERVs in the Caprinae genomes can be categorized as fossils, representing remnants of past retroviral infections that have become permanently integrated into the genomes. Nevertheless, the identification of the Cap_ERV_20, Cap_ERV_21, Cap_ERV_24, and Cap_ERV_25 groups indicates the presence of relatively recent and potentially active ERVs in these genomes. These particular groups may contribute to the ongoing evolution of the Caprinae genome. [Display omitted] Films with nanoengineered surfaces have found extensive utilization in versatile applications, such as freshwater harvesting, water purification, steam generation and thermal energy management. Herein, we develop a liquid metal (LM) nanoporous film on a copper substrate via a simple and scalable bubble-induced self-assembly method. The LM nanoporous film not only provides abundant nucleation sites of bubbles due to nanoscale pores, but also generates CuGa 2 intermetallic compound (IMC) as a thermal interface layer with low interfacial resistance due to in situ alloying with the copper substrate. When the film is used in ethanol-based boiling system, it shows a 172% enhanced heat transfer coefficient compared to the pristine copper. In addition, the metallic wetting force between the LM nanoporous film and CuGa 2 IMC results in a durable nanoporous film. When the LM nanoporous film is utilized for the phase-change thermal energy management of a high-power-density light emitting diode, it leads to a distinct decrease in temperature by 20.7 ℃ relative to the pristine copper. This work provides a strategy to combine nanoengineered surfaces with interface engineering to enhance phase-change heat transfer, which can result in efficient energy transport in various energy-related applications. Simple Summary: Retrotransposons in pigs account for approximately 37.13% of the genome, while long terminal repeats (LTRs) make up 7.56%. These LTR retrotransposons consist of two identical sequences that flank an internal protein-coding region, known as an endogenous retrovirus (ERV). When an insertion polymorphism integrates into a genomic region that harbors functional ERV elements, such as promoters, enhancers, and insulators, it may contribute to phenotypic variation. In this study, we explored the insertion polymorphisms generated by the mobilization of full-length ERVs (Fl-ERVs). Through comparative genomic analysis, we identified 18 insertion polymorphic sites that were generated by Fl-ERVs, and evaluated the genetic impact of one Fl-ERV insertion polymorphism in the STAB2-like gene. Endogenous retroviruses (ERVs) are one of the superfamilies of long terminal repeat retrotransposons (LTRs) in mice and humans. Approximately 8% of the pig genome is composed of sequences derived from LTRs. While the majority of ERVs in pigs have decayed, a small number of full-length copies can still mobilize within the genome. This study investigated the unexplored retroviral insertion polymorphisms (RIPs) generated by the mobilization of full-length ERVs (Fl-ERVs), and evaluated their impact on phenotypic variation to gain insights into the biological role of Fl-ERVs in pigs. Overall, 39 RIPs (insertions or deletions relative to the pig reference genome) generated by Fl-ERVs were predicted by comparative genomic analysis, and 18 of them were confirmed by PCR detection. Four RIP sites (D5, D14, D15, and D18) were further evaluated by population analysis, and all of them displayed polymorphisms in multiple breeds. The RIP site of ERV-D14, which is a Fl-ERV inserted in the STAB2-like gene, was further confirmed by sequencing. Population analysis of the polymorphic site of ERV-D14 reveals that it presents moderate polymorphism information in the Large White pig breed, and the association analysis reveals that the RIP of ERV-D14 is associated with age variations at 30 kg body weight (p < 0.05) and 100 kg body weight (p < 0.01) in the population of Large White pigs (N = 480). Furthermore, the ERV-D14 RIP is associated with changes in the expression of the target gene STAB2-like in the liver, backfat, and leaf fat in Sushan pigs. Simple Summary: Transposable elements (TEs) are mobile genetic elements that play vital role in defining and contributing to the size, shape and structure of both prokaryotic and eukaryotic genomes in nature. The piggyBac (PB), a superfamily of DNA transposons, has been isolated over the years from various organisms including insects, fungi and plants. These piggyBac transposon systems have high efficiency with a wide usage in the study of gene therapies, mutagenesis and transgenesis. Currently, there is limited information available on DNA transposons in small (compact) genomes of animals. Therefore, this study aims to annotate the PB transposons in small genomes of animals, revealing their evolution profiles in both vertebrate and invertebrate genomes. TEs, including DNA transposons, are major contributors of genome expansions, and have played a very significant role in shaping the evolution of animal genomes, due to their capacity to jump from one genomic position to the other. In this study, we investigated the evolution landscapes of PB transposons, including their distribution, diversity, activity and structure organization in 79 species of small (compact) genomes of animals comprising both vertebrate and invertebrates. Overall, 212 PB transposon types were detected from almost half (37) of the total number of the small genome species (79) investigated. The detected PB transposon types, which were unevenly distributed in various genera and phyla, have been classified into seven distinct clades or families with good bootstrap support (>80%). The PB transposon types that were identified have a length ranging from 1.23 kb to 9.51 kb. They encode transposases of approximately ≥500 amino acids in length, and possess terminal inverted repeats (TIRs) ranging from 4 bp to 24 bp. Though some of the transposon types have long TIRs (528 bp), they still maintain the consistent and reliable 4 bp target site duplication (TSD) of TTAA. However, PiggyBac-2_Cvir transposon originating from the Crassostrea virginica species exhibits a unique TSD of TATG. The TIRs of the transposons in all the seven families display high divergence, with a highly conserved 5′ end motif. The core transposase domains (DDD) were better conserved among the seven different families compared to the other protein domains, which were less prevalent in the vertebrate genome. The divergent evolution dynamics analysis also indicated that the majority of the PB transposon types identified in this study are either relatively young or old, with some being active. Additionally, numerous invasions of PB transposons were found in the genomes of both vertebrate and invertebrate animals. The data reveals that the PB superfamily is widely distributed in these species. Rapid progresses concerning wearable electronics call for stretchable batteries. Owing to the merits of high energy density and wide operating voltage range, organic electrolyte‐based lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs) take a large proportion in the powering markets. Due to the high sensitivity to moisture and oxygen, it is difficult to obtain long‐term reliable stretchable organic electrolyte‐based LIBs when they are directly exposed to the air. Benefiting from the outstanding gas impermeability of liquid metal (LM) and relatively good barrier properties for reactive acid gas molecules by polyisobutylene (PIB), an LM‐PIB seal is demonstrated for organic electrolyte‐based LIBs. In the seal, LM can prevent the inward permeation of oxygen and water vapor, and PIB can block the outward permeation of hydrolysis acid generated from the side reactions during the operation of the organic electrolyte‐based LIBs, which helps prevent the detrimental interaction between the hydrolysis acid and LM. A specific capacity of over 120 mAh g−1 is achieved and the battery shows consistent electrochemical performances under multiple deformations. A nitrogen-doped carbon-supported CuNi bimetallic nanocluster catalyst (CuNi–NC) was first synthesized via a facile ZIF-derived method. With a synergistic effect between Cu and Ni, the catalyst exhibited a maximum FECO of 96.3%. FECO is higher than 90% in a broad potential range of 600 mV, which was ascribed to the controllable pore size distribution. Type-V-F Cas12f proteins, also known as Cas14, have drawn significant interest within the diverse CRISPR-Cas nucleases due to their compact size. This study involves analyzing and comparing Cas14-homology proteins in prokaryotic genomes through mining, sequence comparisons, a phylogenetic analysis, and an array/repeat analysis. In our analysis, we identified and mined a total of 93 Cas14-homology proteins that ranged in size from 344 aa to 843 aa. The majority of the Cas14-homology proteins discovered in this analysis were found within the Firmicutes group, which contained 37 species, representing 42% of all the Cas14-homology proteins identified. In archaea, the DPANN group had the highest number of species containing Cas14-homology proteins, a total of three species. The phylogenetic analysis results demonstrate the division of Cas14-homology proteins into three clades: Cas14-A, Cas14-B, and Cas14-U. Extensive similarity was observed at the C-terminal end (CTD) through a domain comparison of the three clades, suggesting a potentially shared mechanism of action due to the presence of cutting domains in that region. Additionally, a sequence similarity analysis of all the identified Cas14 sequences indicated a low level of similarity (18%) between the protein variants. The analysis of repeats/arrays in the extended nucleotide sequences of the identified Cas14-homology proteins highlighted that 44 out of the total mined proteins possessed CRISPR-associated repeats, with 20 of them being specific to Cas14. Our study contributes to the increased understanding of Cas14 proteins across prokaryotic genomes. With the refinement and miniaturization of integrated electronic devices, the requirements for stable operating temperature and antielectromagnetic interference are increasingly high. However, most of the current materials necessitate to develop the intelligent self‐adaptive regulation in response to external field stimuli to gratify the stipulations of different operating environments. Herein, cuttlefish‐inspired smart liquid metal based‐liquid crystal elastomer (LGN‐LCE) dual‐functional material enabling self‐adaptive electromagnetic wave interference shielding and thermal management is presented. Liquid crystal elastomer matrix endows the LGN‐LCE dynamic self‐morphing properties under thermal activation, which leads to the liquid metal network with tunable thermal/electrical conduction. The thermal conductivity of LGN‐LCE can be increased to 10.3 W m−1 K−1 with the rise of surrounding temperature, while the electrical conductivity of LGN‐LCE can be enhanced to 4.3 × 105 S m−1. Such promoted electrical conductivity helps strengthen electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding performance of LGN‐LCE, and the minimum EMI shielding effectiveness of LGN‐LCE can be improved from 48 to 62 dB within the X‐band. This work may not only pave a new way to rationally design a self‐adaptive EMI shielding and thermal management systems, but also show good prospects for practical applications, including thermal management materials, EMI materials, flexible electronic materials, smart materials, artificial intelligence systems, biomedical, and aerospace applications. Simple Summary: Lipid metabolism has a substantial impact on the quality of meat in swine farming. PPARγ has a close association with lipid metabolism and displays high expression in adipose tissues. It is of paramount importance to control lipid metabolism to regulate PPARγ expression and activity in pigs. In this study, the association between the expression of the PPARγ gene and the backfat thickness of pigs was investigated. In recent years, retrotransposon insertion polymorphisms (RIPs), a new type of molecular marker, have emerged as a potentially valuable tool for genetic breeding in livestock and poultry. In this study, a combined retrotransposon insertion in the PPARγ gene of pigs was discovered that could be used as an efficient marker in selecting pigs for growth rate and lean percentage. PPARs are essential regulators of mammalian fatty acid and lipid metabolism. Although the effects of genetic variations, including single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in PPARs genes on the phenotype of domestic animals have been investigated, there is limited information on the impact of retrotransposon insertion polymorphisms (RIPs). In this study, a combined comparative genome and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used to excavate the RIPs in porcine PPARs. We also investigated the potential effects of retrotransposon insertion on phenotype and expression patterns. This study identified the two RIPs in PPARs genes, namely an ERV in intron 1 of PPARα and a combined retrotransposon in intron 2 of PPARγ, designated as PPARα-ERV-RIP and PPARγ-COM-RIP, respectively. These RIPs exhibited different distribution patterns among Chinese indigenous breeds and Western commercial breeds. Individuals with the PPARα-ERV-RIP+/+ genotype (+/+ indicated homozygous with insertion) among Large White pigs had significantly higher (p < 0.05) corrected backfat thickness compared to those with the other two genotypes. Similarly, those with the PPARγ-COM-RIP−/− genotype had significantly higher (p < 0.05) corrected backfat thickness than those with the other two genotypes in Large White pigs. Moreover, in 30-day-old Sujiang piglets, the PPARγ gene expression in the backfat of those with the PPARγ-COM-RIP−/− genotype (−/− indicated homozygous without insertion) was significantly greater (p < 0.01) than those with other genotypes. The dual luciferase reporter gene assay demonstrated that the combined retrotransposon insertion significantly reduced the activity of the MYC promoter in both C2C12 and 3T3-L1 cells (p < 0.01). Therefore, the combined retrotransposon insertion could function as a repressor to decrease the expression of PPARγ, making PPARγ-COM-RIP a valuable molecular marker for assisted selection of backfat thickness in pig breeding. Diverse Tc1/mariner elements with the DD37E signature have been detected. However, their evolutionary relationship and profiles are largely unknown. Using bioinformatics methods, we defined the evolution profile of a Tc1/Mariner family, which harbors the catalytic domain with the DD37E signature, and renamed it DD37E/Mosquito (MS). MS transposons form a separate monophyletic clade in the phylogenetic tree, distinct from the other two groups of elements with the DD37E signature, DD37E/L18 and DD37E/TRT (transposon related to Tc1), and represent a very different taxonomic distribution from that of DD37E/TRT. MS is only detected in invertebrate and is mostly present in Arthropoda, as well as in Cnidaria, Ctenophora, Mollusca, Nematoda, and Platyhelminthes, with a total length of about 1.3 kb, containing an open reading frame (ORF) encoding about 340 amino acids transposases, with a conserved DD37E catalytic domain. The terminal inverted repeat (TIR) lengths range from 19 bp to 203 bp, and the target site duplication (TSD) is TA. We also identified few occurrences of MS horizontal transfers (HT) across lineages of diptera. In this paper, the distribution characteristics, structural characteristics, phylogenetic evolution, and horizontal transfer of the MS family are fully analyzed, which is conducive to supplementing and improving the Tc1/Mariner superfamily and excavating active transposons. Simple Summary: Carbonic anhydrases (CAs) play a crucial role in numerous physiological and pathological processes in animals. Specifically, carbonic anhydrase VB (CA5B) is integral to both gluconeogenesis and lipogenesis. Structural variations, particularly retrotransposon insertion polymorphisms (RIPs), can contribute significantly to these processes. When an RIP is inserted into a genome region containing functional elements (such as promoters, enhancers, and insulators), it can have an impact on both the expression and phenotypic changes of target genes. In this study, we identified an RIP located in the first intron of the CA5B gene, inserted by the SINE element, which enhanced the core promoter activity of the target gene. Through experimental analysis and growth data provided by the pig breeding farm (Anhui academy of agriculture sciences), we found that the SINE insertion improved the expression of the porcine CA5B gene in adipose tissue. Additionally, the number of (ATTT) repeats within the SINE insertion at this site was inconsistent across breeds and individuals. This study provides insight into the role RIPs play in genetic variation of CA5B genes and its phenotypic expression in pigs. Transposons are genetic elements that are present in mammalian genomes and occupy a large proportion of the pig genome, with retrotransposons being the most abundant. In a previous study, it was found that a SINE retrotransposon was inserted in the 1st intron of the CA5B gene in pigs, and the present study aimed to investigate the SINE insertion polymorphism in this gene in different pig breeds. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used to confirm the polymorphism in 11 pig breeds and wild boars), and it was found that there was moderate polymorphism information content in 9 of the breeds. Further investigation in cell experiments revealed that the 330 bp SINE insertion in the RIP-CA5B site promoted expression activity in the weak promoter region of this site. Additionally, an enhancer verification vector experiment showed that the 330 bp SINE sequence acted as an enhancer on the core promoter region upstream of the CA5B gene region. The expression of CA5B in adipose tissue (back fat and leaf fat) in individuals with the (SINE+/+) genotype was significantly higher than those with (SINE+/−) and (SINE−/−) genotypes. The association analysis revealed that the (SINE+/+) genotype was significantly associated with a higher back fat thickness than the (SINE−/−) genotype. Moreover, it was observed that the insertion of SINE at the RIP-CA5B site carried ATTT repeats, and three types of (ATTT) repeats were identified among different individuals/breeds (i.e., (ATTT)4, (ATTT)6 and (ATTT)9). The regulation and utilization of thermal energy is increasingly important in modern society due to the growing demand for heating and cooling in applications ranging from buildings, to cooling high power electronics, and from personal thermal management to the pursuit of renewable thermal energy technologies. Over billions of years of natural selection, biological organisms have evolved unique mechanisms and delicate structures for efficient and intelligent regulation and utilization of thermal energy. These structures also provide inspiration for developing advanced thermal engineering materials and systems with extraordinary performance. In this review, we summarize research progress in biological and bioinspired thermal energy materials and technologies, including thermal regulation through insulation, radiative cooling, evaporative cooling and camouflage, and conversion and utilization of thermal energy from solar thermal radiation and biological bodies for vapor/electricity generation, temperature/infrared sensing, and communication. Emphasis is placed on introducing bioinspired principles, identifying key bioinspired structures, revealing structure–property–function relationships, and discussing promising and implementable bioinspired strategies. We also present perspectives on current challenges and outlook for future research directions. General anesthetics can cause neurological damage and long-term behavioral/cognitive impairment during fetal and early postnatal life. However, the adverse influence on embryo development induced by propofol is unclear. We used embryonic zebrafish to explore the effects of propofol on embryonic and larval growth and development, and the related apoptotic mechanism. Zebrafish embryos were immersed in propofol (1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 μg/ml) dissolved in E3 medium from 6 to 48 hours post fertilization (hpf). The survival rate, locomotion, heart rate, hatchability, deformity rate, and body length were analyzed at defined stages. Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase nick-end-labeling was used to detect zebrafish embryo apoptosis, and the expression levels of apoptosis-related genes were determined using quantitative real-time reverse transcription PCR and whole-mount in situ hybridization. Larvae at 48 hpf were anesthetized by immersion in E3 culture medium containing 2 μg/ml propofol, the reasonable anesthetic concentration for zebrafish embryos, which caused significant caudal fin dysplasia, light pigmentation, edema, hemorrhage, and spinal deformity, and decreased the hatchability, body length, and heart rate. The numbers of apoptotic cells in propofol-treated 12, 48 and 72 hpf embryos increased significantly, and the mRNA expression levels of intrinsic apoptosis pathway-related casp3a, casp3b, casp9, and baxb genes were upregulated, mainly in the head and tail. Propofol decreased apoptosis in the head and back of 24 hpf zebrafish, which was consistent with the mRNA expression analysis. Our findings demonstrated that zebrafish embryos and larvae exposed to propofol experienced developmental toxicity, which correlated with the intrinsic apoptosis pathway with casp3a, casp3b, casp9, and baxb as the key genes. Simple Summary: Bees are one of the mega-diverse class of insects in Hymenoptera. As predators and the main crops pollinator, bees play an essential role in improving crop yield and the quality whiles providing substantial economic importance. Transposable elements (TEs) exist widely in nature and they make up a significant portion of prokaryotic and eukaryotic genomes. piggyBac (PB) transposons, belonging to DNA transposons, have been identified in plants, fungi, and animals. The advantages of the modified PB transposon system or high transposable efficiency and broad host ranges have led to their widespread application in transgenesis, mutagenesis, and gene therapy. At present, there is no systematic report on PB transposon in bees. Therefore, this study focused on annotating the transposons of the PB superfamily in bees to reveal the distribution, diversity, structural characteristics, evolutionary pattern and activity of PB transposons in the available genomes of bees. In this study, we investigated the presence of piggyBac (PB) transposons in 44 bee genomes from the Apoidea order, which is a superfamily within the Hymenoptera, which includes a large number of bee species crucial for pollination. We annotated the PB transposons in these 44 bee genomes and examined their evolution profiles, including structural characteristics, distribution, diversity, activity, and abundance. The mined PB transposons were divided into three clades, with uneven distribution in each genus of PB transposons in Apoidea. The complete PB transposons we discovered are around 2.23–3.52 kb in length and encode transposases of approximately 580 aa, with terminal inverted repeats (TIRs) of about 14 bp and 4 bp (TTAA) target-site duplications. Long TIRs (200 bp, 201 bp, and 493 bp) were also detected in some species of bees. The DDD domains of the three transposon types were more conserved, while the other protein domains were less conserved. Generally, most PB transposons showed low abundance in the genomes of Apoidea. Divergent evolution dynamics of PB were observed in the genomes of Apoidea. PB transposons in some identified species were relatively young, whiles others were older and with some either active or inactive. In addition, multiple invasions of PB were also detected in some genomes of Apoidea. Some families of mobile elements in bacterial genomes encode not only a transposase but also an accessory TnpB gene. This gene has been shown to encode an RNA-guided DNA endonuclease, co-evolving with Y1 transposase and serine recombinase in mobile elements IS605 and IS607. In this paper, we reveal the evolutionary relationships among TnpB-containing mobile elements (TCMEs) in well-assembled genomes of six bacterial species: Bacillus cereus, Clostridioides difficile, Deinococcus radiodurans, Escherichia coli, Helicobacter pylori and Salmonella enterica. In total, 9996 TCMEs were identified in 4594 genomes. They belonged to 39 different insertion sequences (ISs). Based on their genetic structures and sequence identities, the 39 TCMEs were classified into three main groups and six subgroups. According to our phylogenetic analysis, TnpBs include two main branches (TnpB-A and TnpB-B) and two minor branches (TnpB-C and TnpB-D). The key TnpB motifs and the associated Y1 and serine recombinases were highly conserved across species, even though their overall sequence identities were low. Substantial variation was observed for the rate of invasion across bacterial species and strains. Over 80% of the genomes of B. cereus, C. difficile, D. radiodurans and E. coli contained TCMEs; however, only 64% of the genomes of H. pylori and 44% of S. enterica genomes contained TCMEs. IS605 showed the largest rate of invasion in these species, while IS607 and IS1341 had a relatively narrow distribution. Co-invasions of IS605, IS607 and IS1341 elements were observed in various genomes. The largest average copy number was observed for IS605b elements in C. difficile. The average copy numbers of most other TCMEs were smaller than four. Highlights: A three-tiered thermal interface materials was proposed with the through-plane thermal conductivity up to176 W m−1 K−1 and contact thermal resistance as low as 4–6 K mm2 W−1 (double sides). The liquid metal acts as a buffer layer to connect vertically aligned graphene with the rough heater/heat sink, improving effective contact thermal conductance by more than an order of magnitude. Developing advanced thermal interface materials (TIMs) to bridge heat-generating chip and heat sink for constructing an efficient heat transfer interface is the key technology to solve the thermal management issue of high-power semiconductor devices. Based on the ultra-high basal-plane thermal conductivity, graphene is an ideal candidate for preparing high-performance TIMs, preferably to form a vertically aligned structure so that the basal-plane of graphene is consistent with the heat transfer direction of TIM. However, the actual interfacial heat transfer efficiency of currently reported vertically aligned graphene TIMs is far from satisfactory. In addition to the fact that the thermal conductivity of the vertically aligned TIMs can be further improved, another critical factor is the limited actual contact area leading to relatively high contact thermal resistance (20–30 K mm2 W−1) of the "solid–solid" mating interface formed by the vertical graphene and the rough chip/heat sink. To solve this common problem faced by vertically aligned graphene, in this work, we combined mechanical orientation and surface modification strategy to construct a three-tiered TIM composed of mainly vertically aligned graphene in the middle and micrometer-thick liquid metal as a cap layer on upper and lower surfaces. Based on rational graphene orientation regulation in the middle tier, the resultant graphene-based TIM exhibited an ultra-high thermal conductivity of 176 W m−1 K−1. Additionally, we demonstrated that the liquid metal cap layer in contact with the chip/heat sink forms a "liquid–solid" mating interface, significantly increasing the effective heat transfer area and giving a low contact thermal conductivity of 4–6 K mm2 W−1 under packaging conditions. This finding provides valuable guidance for the design of high-performance TIMs based on two-dimensional materials and improves the possibility of their practical application in electronic thermal management. Both ZeBrafish (ZB), a recently identified DNA transposon in the zebrafish genome, and SB, a reconstructed transposon originally discovered in several fish species, are known to exhibit high transposition activity in vertebrate cells. Although a similar structural organization was observed for ZB and SB transposons, the evolutionary profiles of their homologs in various species remain unknown. In the present study, we compared their taxonomic ranges, structural arrangements, sequence identities, evolution dynamics, and horizontal transfer occurrences in vertebrates. In total, 629 ZB and 366 SB homologs were obtained and classified into four distinct clades, named ZB, ZB-like, SB, and SB-like. They displayed narrow taxonomic distributions in eukaryotes, and were mostly found in vertebrates, Actinopterygii in particular tended to be the major reservoir hosts of these transposons. Similar structural features and high sequence identities were observed for transposons and transposase, notably homologous to the SB and ZB elements. The genomic sequences that flank the ZB and SB transposons in the genomes revealed highly conserved integration profiles with strong preferential integration into AT repeats. Both SB and ZB transposons experienced horizontal transfer (HT) events, which were most common in Actinopterygii. It has been established that through binding to bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs), bone morphogenetic protein receptor I B (BMPR1B) can mediate transforming growth factor β (TGF-β) signal transduction, and is involved in the regulation of several biological processes, such as bone and muscle formation and homeostasis, as well as folliculogenesis. Also known as FecB, BMPR1B has been reported as the major gene for sheep prolificacy. A number of previous studies have analyzed the relationship between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in this gene and its related performance. In recent years, with the illustration of the effect of retrotransposon insertion on the expression of the proximal genes or phenotypic variation, retrotransposon insertion polymorphisms (RIPs) have been used as a novel type of molecular marker in the evaluation of evolution, population structure and breeding of plant and domestic animals. In this study, the RIPs in porcine BMPR1B gene were excavated, and thereafter verified using a comparative genome and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The potential effects of phenotype, gene expression and functions related to RIPs were also explored. The results showed that 13 distinct RIPs were identified in introns of porcine BMPR1B. Among these, only BMPR1B-SINE-RIP9 and BMPR1B-LINE-RIP13 displayed a close relationship with the growth traits of Large White pigs. Moreover, the total number of BMPR1B-SINE+/+-RIP9 individuals born was found to be significantly higher than that of SINE−/− (p < 0.05). These two RIPs showed an obvious distribution pattern among Chinese indigenous breeds and Western commercial breeds. The expression of BMPR1B in ovaries of adult BMPR1B-SINE+/+-RIP9 Sushan pigs was found to be significantly higher in comparison to those of BMPR1B-SINE−/−-RIP9 (p < 0.05). SINE insertion of BMPR1B-SINE-RIP9 and LINE insertion of BMPR1B-LINE-RIP13 were observed to significantly increase the activity of Octamer binding transcription factor 4 (OCT4) minipromoter in CHO and C2C12 cells (p < 0.01). Therefore, these two RIPs could serve as useful molecular markers for modulating the growth or reproductive traits in assisted selection of pig breeding, while the mechanisms of the insertion function should be studied further. Retrotransposon is an important component of the mammalian genome. Previous studies have shown that the expression of protein-coding genes was affected by the insertion of retrotransposon into the proximal genes, and the phenotype variations would be related to the retrotransposon insertion polymorphisms (RIPs). In this study, leptin (LEP), leptin receptor (LEPR), and leptin receptor overlapping transcript (LEPROT), which play important roles in the regulation of fat synthesis and body weight, were screened to search for the RIPs and their effect on phenotype and gene expression, as well as to further study the function of the insertion. The results showed that three RIPs located in intron 1 of LEPROT and intron 2 and 21 of LEPR were identified, and they were all SINEA1, which was one type of retrotransposon. The SINE insertion at the LEPROT was the dominant allele in native pig breeds. The age of 100 kg body weight of SINE+/+ Large White individuals was significantly higher than those of SINE+/− and SINE−/− individuals (p < 0.05). The LEPROT gene expression in the liver and suet of 30-day-old SINE−/− Sujiang piglets were significantly higher than those of SINE+/+ and SINE+/− piglets (p < 0.01). The dual-luciferase reporter gene assay showed that SINE insertion in PK15 and 3T3-L1 cells significantly reduced the promoter activity of the LEPROT gene (p < 0.01). Retrotransposons account for more than one-third of the pig reference genome. On account of the genome variability in different breeds, structural variation (SV) caused by retrotranspos-on-generated deletion or insertion (indel) may have a function in the genome. Litter size is one of the most important reproductive traits and significantly impacts profitability in terms of pig production. We used the method of bioinformatics, genetics, and molecular biology to make an analysis among different pig genomes. Predicted 100 SVs were annotated as retrotransposon indel in 20 genes related to reproductive performance. The PCR detection based on these predicted SVs revealed 20 RIPs in 20 genes, that most RIPs (12) were generated by SINE indel, and eight RIPs were generated by the ERV indel. We selected 12 RIPs to make the second round PCR detection in 24 individuals among nine pig breeds. The PCR detection results revealed that the RIP-A1CF-4 insertion in the breed of Bama, Large White, and Meishan only had the homozygous genotype but low to moderately polymorphisms were present in other breeds. We found that RIP-CWH43-9, RIP-IDO2-9, RIP-PRLR-6, RIP-VMP1-12, and RIP-OPN-1 had a rich polymorphism in the breed of Large White pigs. The statistical analysis revealed that RIP-CWH43-9 had a SINE insertion profitable to the reproductive traits of TNB and NBA but was significantly affected (p < 0.01) and (p < 0.05) in the reproductive traits of litter birthweight (LW) in Large White. On the other hand, the SINE insertion in IDO2-9 may be a disadvantage to the reproductive traits of LW, which was significantly affected (p < 0.05) in Large White. Simple Summary: Despite the discovery of the Tigger family of pogo transposons in the mammalian genome, the evolution profile of this family is still incomplete. Here, we conducted a systematic evolution analysis for Tigger in nature. The data revealed that Tigger was found in a broad variety of animals, and extensive invasion of Tigger was observed in mammal genomes. Common horizontal transfer events of Tigger elements were observed across different lineages of animals, including mammals, that may have led to their widespread distribution, while parasites and invasive species may have promoted Tigger HT events. Our results also indicate that the activity of Tigger transposons tends to be low in vertebrates; only one mammalian genome and fish genome may harbor active Tigger. The data of this study revealed that Tigger was found in a wide variety of animal genomes, including 180 species from 36 orders of invertebrates and 145 species from 29 orders of vertebrates. An extensive invasion of Tigger was observed in mammals, with a high copy number. Almost 61% of those species contain more than 50 copies of Tigger; however, 46% harbor intact Tigger elements, although the number of these intact elements is very low. Common HT events of Tigger elements were discovered across different lineages of animals, including mammals, that may have led to their widespread distribution, whereas Helogale parvula and arthropods may have aided Tigger HT incidences. The activity of Tigger seems to be low in the kingdom of animals, most copies were truncated in the mammal genomes and lost their transposition activity, and Tigger transposons only display signs of recent and current activities in a few species of animals. Simple Summary: In a previous study, 30 SINE-RIPs were applied for population genetic analysis in 7 Chinese miniature pig populations and approved effectively in the genetic distances and breed-relationships between these populations. There are abundant indigenous pigs famous across the world for their prolificacy in the Jiangsu Province of eastern China, such as Meishan, Erhualian. Since pork production relies on limited commercial breeds such as Landrace, Large White, and Duroc pigs, characterized by maximizing productivity in intensive production systems, these indigenous pigs are nowadays decrease sharply. The genetic characterizations of these resources are essential requirements for the development of conservation, selection, and sustainable utilizations. Therefore, SINE-RIPs were selected to evaluate the genetic variation and population structure of Jiangsu pig populations and the results may assist with the conservation and utilization of these native pig populations. Short interspersed nuclear elements (SINEs), one type of retrotransposon, are considered to be ideal molecular markers due to their wide distribution in the genome, high copy number, and high polymorphism. Preliminary studies have identified more than 35,000 SINE-retrotransposon insertion polymorphisms (RIPs) in the pig genome. In this study, 18 SINE-RIPs were used to evaluate the genetic variation and population structure of seven native pig populations and two crossbreeds in the Jiangsu Province of China. Two commercial pig breeds (Duroc and Large White) and one Italian native breed (Sicilian Black pig) were selected as the control. The results showed that all 18 SINE-RIPs were polymorphic among these pigs. The Jiangsu native pig populations (Erhualian, Fengjing, Middle Meishan, Mi, Shawutou, Small Meishan, and Huai) were shown to be more polymorphic than the crossbreeds (Sushan and Sujiang) and external breeds (Sicilian Black pig, Large White, and Duroc) based on the expected heterozygosity and polymorphic information content values. Some native pigs, including Small Meishan, Mi, Middle Meishan, and Erhualian, had a higher degree of inbreeding according to the FIS values. Based on the neighbor-joining tree, all of the Jiangsu native pig populations formed one branch, while the three external pig breeds formed the other branches, with the two crossbreeds containing more than 50% external pig ancestry. The Huai pigs were independent of the other Jiangsu native pigs but shared a common ancestor with Sujiang and Mi. This paper reports the generation of 3D thermal and electrical conductive graphene network in gallium‐based liquid metal (LM) via a simple one‐step ball‐milling approach. In this work, 2D graphene nanoplates and their derivatives were employed to construct 3D thermal and electrical conductive filler networks. It is demonstrated that the obtained composite exhibits the highest 3D thermal conductivity (44.6 W m−1 K−1) among the other gallium‐based LM composites with 2D inorganic nanofillers and distinguished electrical conductivity (8.3 S µm−1) among gallium‐based LM composites at present. The enhanced thermal conductivity and wettability of gallium‐based composite lead to its beneficial usage as thermal interface materials with exquisite texture for LED chip heat dissipation. The electrochemical and magnetic experiments confirm that these LM‐based composites can also be controlled under external electrical or magnetic field, which potentially can help extend their application in external field‐driven systems. The findings of this work offer new insight in designing LM‐based composites with enhanced thermal, electrical, and magnetic properties for a wide range of applications, including thermal management systems, 3D printing, flexible conductors, soft robotic systems, and wearable energy technologies. We report the development of transparent high-thermal-conductivity nanofluids for enhanced flow cooling of solid-state laser crystal rods. The transparent nanofluids were prepared by dispersing citrate-stabilized Au nanoparticles in water and strictly controlling the particle size and loading. The Au nanofluids have shown stable dispersion, high optical transparency at the excitation wavelength of the YAG solid-state laser (808 nm), and 50% increase of thermal conductivity. Direct absorption of sunlight with carbon nanofluids is a facile way to efficiently harvest solar-thermal energy, but poor dispersion stability of nanofluids under elevated temperatures severely limits their applications. Herein, we report a general strategy to prepare stably-dispersed medium-temperature solar-thermal nanofluids by employing crumpled particles of ethanol-wetted graphene oxide sheets as the self-dispersible photothermal converters. The crumpled particles simultaneously possess intensively-deformed surface structure, a low density and a small particle size. Such features weaken the inter-particle van der Waals attraction and gravitational sedimentation of the crumpled particles, thereby enabling their long-term stable dispersion within commercial thermal storage oils. Uniform dispersion of nanofluids was maintained after continuous heating for 2 weeks under a heating temperature up to 200 °C. The homogenously dispersed nanofluids also achieved high solar absorptance with low particle loadings, and retained the large heat capacity and suitable viscosity. These combined advantageous thermophysical properties enabled consistent high-performance medium-temperature direct absorption-based nanofluidic solar-thermal energy harvesting under large-flux solar illumination. We demonstrate a rapid one-step scalable microwave heating-based method to prepare Ti3C2Tx MXenes, which shortens the synthesis time from tens of hours for state-of-the-art approaches to 15 minutes and avoids time-consuming delamination with organic compounds. Noticeably, the microwave-synthesized MXene nanosheets have a tailorable size, a stable colloidal dispersion, high electrical conductivity and superior near-infrared (NIR) photothermal conversion performance. This paper introduces an alternative approach for the synthesis of site‐specific gold‐zinc oxide (Au‐ZnO) nanorod array through the pyroelectric approach. The hydrothermally grown ZnO nanorod array on the Si substrate is served as the pyroelectric catalyst. Under rapid temperature oscillation, the gold salt precursor is reduced into gold nanoparticles around the tip of ZnO nanorods in aqueous solution. The hybrid structure shows a significant photoluminescence quenching in the visible emission spectrum of ZnO, which is due to the interaction of ZnO and gold nanoparticles. A Rhodamine B (RhB) degradation test under full spectrum sunlight illumination is conducted to demonstrate the photocatalytic performance of the Au‐ZnO nanorod array. The mechanism behind the hydrothermal growth of ZnO, pyroelectric reduction of gold nanoparticles, and photoluminescence quenching of Au‐ZnO is discussed. The findings of this work offer possible ways to the sustainable use of thermal energy, including harvesting waste heat through pyroelectric effect, and the site‐specific synthesis of various nanomaterials with enhanced photocatalytic degradation capability. Contact electrification (CE) has been utilized in various energy conversion systems in recent years. This work presents a constant electric energy output that was generated based on the CE at the water–metal interface. When a grounded Pt mesh is placed in water that is heated to boil, a continuous flow of electrons between the Pt mesh and the ground is generated. A possible mechanism for the generation of such electric current is based on the CE between the surface of the Pt mesh and water molecules. The local high-pressure thin liquid film regions between vapor bubbles and surface of Pt mesh promote this CE process. The constant water evaporation and bubble detachment enable the continuous electric current output. In this work, the impact of the heating temperature and the bias voltages on the generation of the current was also studied. This work provides an alternative approach to generate unidirectional current on the basis of CE at the water–metal interface, and it also offers new insights in the design of CE-based systems for the generation of electricity. Background: Toll-like receptors (TLRs) play important roles in building innate immune and inducing adaptive immune responses. Associations of the TLR genes polymorphisms with disease susceptibility, which are the basis of molecular breeding for disease resistant animals, have been reported extensively. Retrotransposon insertion polymorphisms (RIPs), as a new type of molecular markers developed recently, have great potential in population genetics and quantitative trait locus mapping. In this study, bioinformatic prediction combined with PCR-based amplification was employed to screen for RIPs in porcine TLR genes. Their population distribution was examined, and for one RIP the impact on gene activity and phenotype was further evaluated. Results: Five RIPs, located at the 3' flank of TLR3, 5' flank of TLR5, intron 1 of TLR6, intron 1 of TLR7, and 3' flank of TLR8 respectively, were identified. These RIPs were detected in different breeds with an uneven distribution among them. By using the dual luciferase activity assay a 192 bp endogenous retrovirus (ERV) in the intron 1 of TLR6 was shown to act as an enhancer increasing the activities of TLR6 putative promoter and two mini-promoters. Furthermore, real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) analysis revealed significant association (p < 0.05) of the ERV insertion with increased mRNA expression of TLR6, the neighboring gene TLR1, and genes downstream in the TLR signaling pathway such as MyD88 (Myeloid differentiation factor 88), Rac1 (Rac family small GTPase 1), TIRAP (TIR domain containing adaptor protein), Tollip (Toll interacting protein) as well as the inflammatory factors IL6 (Interleukin 6), IL8 (Interleukin 8), and TNFα (Tumor necrosis factor alpha) in tissues of 30 day-old piglet. In addition, serum IL6 and TNFα concentrations were also significantly upregulated by the ERV insertion (p < 0.05). Conclusions: A total of five RIPs were identified in five different TLR loci. The 192 bp ERV insertion in the first intron of TLR6 was associated with higher expression of TLR6, TLR1, and several genes downstream in the signaling cascade. Although the rabbit genome has already been annotated, it is mobilome remains largely unknown. Here, multiple pipelines were used to de novo mine and annotate the mobilome in rabbit. Four families and 19 subfamilies of LINE1s, two families and nine subfamilies of SINEs, and 12 ERV families were defined in rabbit based on sequence identity, structural organization, and phylogenetic tree. The analysis of insertion age and polymerase chain reaction suggests that a number of families are very young and may remain active, such as L1B, L1D, OcuSINEA, and OcuERV1. RepeatMasker annotation revealed a distinct transposable element landscape within the genome, with approximately two million copies of SINEs, representing the greatest proportion of the genome (19.61%), followed by LINEs (15.44%), and LTRs (4.11%), respectively, considerably different from most other mammal mobilomes except hedgehog and tree shrew, in which LINEs have the highest proportion. Furthermore, a very high rate of insertion polymorphisms (>85%) for the youngest subfamily (OcuSINEA1) was identified by polymerase chain reaction. The majority of retrotransposon insertions overlapped with protein-coding regions (>80%) and lncRNA (90%) genes. Genomic distribution bias was observed for retrotransposons, with those immediately upstream (−1 kb) and downstream (1 kb) of genes significantly depleted. Local GC content in 50-kb widows had significantly negative correlations with LINE (r s=−0.996) and LTR (r s=−0.829) insertions. In this study, a new family of IS630-Tc1-mariner (ITm) DNA transposons, named Hiker (HK) , was identified. HK is characterized by a DD35E catalytic domain and is distinct from all previously known families of the ITm group. Phylogenetic analyses showed that DD35E/ Hiker forms a monophyletic clade with DD34E/ Gambol , indicating that they may represent a separate superfamily of ITm. A total of 178 Hiker species were identified, with 170 found mainly in Actinopterygii, one in Chondrichthyes, six in Anura and one in Mollusca. Gambol (GM) , on the other hand, are found in invertebrates, with 18 in Arthropoda and one in Platyhelminthes. Hiker transposons have a total length ranging from 2.14 to 3.67 kb and contain a single open reading frame that encodes a protein of approximately 370 amino acids (range 311–413 aa). They are flanked by short terminal inverted repeats (TIRs) of 16–30 base pairs and two base pair (TA) target-site duplications. In contrast, most transposons of the Gambol family have a total length of 1.35–5.96 kb, encode a transposase protein of approximately 350 amino acids (range 306–374 aa), and are flanked by TIRs that range from 32 to 1097 bp in length. Both Hiker and Gambol transposases have several conserved motifs, including helix-turn-helix (HTH) motifs and a DDE domain. Our study observed multiple amplification waves and repeated horizontal transfer (HT) events of HK transposons in vertebrate genomes, indicating their role in diversifying and shaping the genomes of Actinopterygii, Chondrichthyes, and Anura. Conversely, GM transposons showed few Horizontal transfer events. According to cell-based transposition assays, most HK transposons are likely inactive due to the truncated DNA binding domains of their transposases. In order to improve the heating effect of neutral beam injector, the neutral beam injector (NBI) of the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) is planned to be upgraded. After the EAST NBI is upgraded, the neutron emission intensity will increase. Neutron leaking from the neutral beam port penetrate the beamline, resulting in the material radiation damage. The neutronic response has been investigated by using the Monte Carlo particle transport code MCNP with the two dimensional RZ model of the EAST NBI. The results demonstrate that a 40% increase of the neutron emission rate has been attained with the upgraded EAST NBI. However, the simulations for the activation of different materials, displacement damage and nuclear heating of the neutral beam still satisfy the requirement of material safety performance. Seasonal thermal energy storage within organic phase change materials (PCMs) offers a promising way to solve intermittency of renewable energy, but the charged PCMs tend to undergo spontaneous crystallization and lose the stored latent heat to cold environment during storage. Herein, we report introduction of alkali hydroxides into sugar alcohols to increase the activation energy barrier for liquid-to-solid phase transition and stabilize the supercooling state, thereby realizing long-term phase change thermal energy storage. Owing to increased intermolecular hydrogen bonding interaction, the charged composites can maintain the supercooled state and conserve latent heat (∼200 J/g) during storage at room temperature or extremely cold temperatures for months. Further compounding with polydopamine organic pigments, the composites demonstrate high solar absorptance (∼91.6 %) and thus enable seasonable storage of solar-thermal energy as latent heat at room temperature. The stored heat can be readily released through adding seed crystals or applying mechanical deformation, which triggers cold crystallization of the supercooled composites and releases latent heat within a suitable temperature range of 40–60 °C. Such phase change composites not only eliminate complicated thermal insulation engineering required in conventional long-term thermal storage processes, but also unlock diverse application opportunities for thermal energy systems. • We generate a stably self-dispersed crumpled graphene/water nanofluid at 100 °C. • The nanofluid enhances the heat transfer coefficient by 89.1% over deionized water. • The enhancement is due to the porous structure generated by self-assembly. Boiling can induce the self-assembly of nanomaterials in nanofluids to generate reliable micro/nanostructures for enhancing boiling heat transfer. The practical applications of most nanofluids in boiling, however, are limited by the poor thermal stability at the boiling point, and improving the thermal stability of nanofluids at such high temperature is challenging. Here, we demonstrate that the crumpled graphene can remain uniformly and stably dispersed within deionized water at the boiling point of 100 °C due to its highly wrinkled structure, while self-assembling to generate a porous structure on the substrate during boiling. Such porous structure can vary the surface micromorphology, wettability and roughness, which increases the nucleation sites and departure frequency of bubbles, thus effectively enhancing the critical heat flux and the maximum heat transfer coefficient by 80.7 and 89.1% compared to the pristine copper substrate, respectively. This in situ boiling-induced self-assembly provides a facile and low-cost strategy to achieve high-performance boiling heat transfer for a wide variety of nanomaterials. Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) is an important pathogen. Although tremendous effort has been made for the vaccine development, only modified live vaccines are widely used with arguably limited efficacy. Our previous study showed that the Fc-fused first four Ig-like domains of Sn (Sn4D-Fc) and the SRCR domains 5–9 of CD163 (SRCR59-Fc) can act as PRRSV soluble receptors (VSRs). In this study, we improved the VSR-based anti-PRRSV strategy by taming their Fc domains. Sequence alignment showed that the CH3 domain of pig IgG1 contained five putative amino acids involved in the interaction with the neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn). The M455L/N461S variant of SRCR59-Fc/Sn4D-Fc was created for the higher affinity of FcRn binding. Both rBac-SRCR59-lsFc/Sn4D-lsFc and rBac-SRCR59-Fc/Sn4D-Fc expressing the mutated or wild-type VSRs were generated for conceptual validation. Both immunofluorescence and Western blotting analysis showed that the two rBac vectors could express the encoded VSRs in cells with similar expression levels and anti-PRRSV effects. In the rBac-injected mice, the expression of SRCR59-lsFc/Sn4D-lsFc was significantly prolonged than that of SRCR59-Fc/Sn4D-Fc. Both plasma stability and serum half-life of the purified SRCR59-lsFc/Sn4D-lsFc were significantly improved than that of SRCR59-Fc/Sn4D-Fc. SRCR59-lsFc/Sn4D-lsFc-treated peripheral blood mononuclear cells showed significantly stronger cytotoxicity on PRRSV-infected primary alveolar macrophages than SRCR59-Fc/Sn4D-Fc-treated cells. Direct absorption and conversion of sunlight by optical nanofluids into storable heat is an efficient and facile way to harness abundant clean solar energy, but achieving long-term stable dispersion of the nanofluids is challenging under elevated temperatures. Herein, we report the preparation of mesoporous crumpled graphene particles as self-dispersible solar absorbers that can achieve homogenous dispersion within medium-temperature silicone oil. The mesoporous crumpled graphene particles were synthesized by using an aerosol-assisted capillary compression process and a subsequent oxidative-etching reaction. By controlling the etching time, the introduced mesopores can tune the apparent density of the crumpled particles into a value comparable with the dispersing base fluid. The crumpled surface structure, small particle size and compatible density weaken the inter-particle van der Waals attraction and gravitational sedimentation tendency. The resultant silicone oil nanofluids have maintained their uniform dispersion under a heating temperature of 200 °C for 50 h. The stable uniform dispersion together with the high solar absorptance, the large specific heat capacity and the proper viscosity enabled the application of prepared nanofluids for consistent high-performance medium-temperature solar-thermal energy harvesting under concentrated solar irradiation. Buster is a recently recognized family of hAT. However, the evolutionary profile of the Buster family, such as its taxonomic distribution, evolutionary pattern, and activities, remains largely unknown. We conducted a systematic analysis of the evolutionary landscape of the Buster family and found that most Buster transposons are 1.72–4.66 kilobases (kb) in length, encode 500–736-amino acid (aa) transposases and are flanked by short (10–18 bp) terminal inverted repeats (TIRs) and 8 bp target site duplications (TSDs). Buster family is widely distributed in 609 species, involving eight classes of invertebrates and most lineage of vertebrates (including mammals). Horizontal transfer events were detected across multiple phyla and classes of animals, which may have contributed to their wide distribution, and both parasites and invasive species may facilitate HT events of Buster in vertebrates. Our data also suggest that Buster transposons are young, highly active, and appear as intact copies in multiple lineages of animals. High percentages of intact copies (>30%) were identified in some Arthropoda, Actinopterygii, Agnatha, and reptile species, and some of these may be active. This work presents a bottom-up approach to construct an isotropic network of liquid metal in polymer, and such generated isotropic liquid metal network brings large enhancement on the thermal and electrical conductivity of the composite for 3D thermal management. The building blocks are composed of polymer particles coated with liquid metal. The liquid metal starts to flow and fill the gaps between the polymer particles, and fuses with each other to assemble into a continuous liquid metal network in the polymer matrix under the mechanical load during heating. The continuous filler network provides effective paths for thermal and electrical conduction, and thus enhances the thermal and electrical conductivity of the composites. Using biphasic copper-eutectic gallium indium as the filler, we generated polymer composites with thermal conductivity as high as 32.71 W/m·K (90 vol%; under compression) and electrical conductivity up to 1.18 × 106 S/m. Moreover, the measurement of the in-plane and cross-plane thermal diffusivity reveals the isotropic enhancement of thermal conductivity in such composites, which may help expand the potential application of these composites in 3D thermal management, flexible electronics, energy conversion and soft robotics. Despite comprising much of the genome, transposons were once thought of as junk. However, transposons play many roles in the eukaryotic genome, such as providing new proteins as domesticated genes, expressing during germline-soma differentiation, function in DNA rearrangement in the offspring, and so on. We sought to describe the distribution and structural organization of the two autonomous transposons (ZB and PS) in the zebrafish genome and examine their expression patterns in embryos and adult tissues. The intact copy of ZB and PS was queried by BLAST on NCBI and ENSEMBL using default parameters. Of the copies with coverage and identity, more than 90 % were downloaded to do structural analysis. Spatial and temporal expression patterns were detected by qRT-PCR and Whole-mount in situ hybridization (WISH). There are 19 intact copies of ZB , encoding 341 amino acid residues with DD34E catalytic domain and flanked by 201bp TIRs, and seven intact PS copies, containing 425 amino acid residues with DD35D catalytic domain flanked by 28bp TIRs, were detected in the genome of zebrafish respectively. Analysis of genomic insertions indicated that both ZB and PS transposons are prone to be retained in the intron and intergenic regions of the zebrafish genome. The sense and antisense transcripts of ZB and PS were detected during embryonic development stages and exhibited similar expression patterns. The difference is that the sense strand transcript of ZB was explicitly expressed in midbrain-hindbrain boundary (MHB) and otic vesicle (OV), and pharyngeal arches and pharyngeal pouches (PA&PP) at 48 hpf. In adult zebrafish, the expressions of ZB and PS in muscle and brain are much higher than in other tissues. Our study results indicate that ZB and PS transposons may be involved in the embryonic development and regulation of somatic cells of certain adult tissues, such as the brain and muscle. Simple Summary: Transposable elements, including DNA transposons, play a significant role in genetic material exchanges between prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Comparative profiling of the evolution pattern of DNA transposons between prokaryotes and eukaryotes may identify potential genetic material exchanges between them and provide insights into the evolutionary history of prokaryotic and eukaryotic genomes. The members of the IS630-Tc1-mariner (ITm) group may represent the most diverse and widely distributed DNA transposons in nature, and the discovery of new members of this group is highly expected based on the increasing availability of genome sequencing data. We discovered a new superfamily (termed Sailor) belonging to the ITm hyperfamily, which differed from the known superfamilies of Tc1/mariner, DDxD/pogo and DD34E/Gambol, regarding phylogenetic position and catalytic domain. Our data revealed that Sailor was distributed in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes and suggested that horizontal transfer (HT) events of Sailor may occur from prokaryotic to eukaryotic genomes. Finally, internal transmissions of Sailor in prokaryotes and eukaryotes were also detected. Here, a new superfamily of IS630-Tc1-mariner (ITm) DNA transposons, termed Sailor, is identified, that is characterized by a DD82E catalytic domain and is distinct from all previously known superfamilies of the ITm group. Phylogenetic analyses revealed that Sailor forms a monophyletic clade with a more intimate link to the clades of Tc1/mariner and DD34E/Gambol. Sailor was detected in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes and invaded a total of 256 species across six kingdoms. Sailor is present in nine species of bacteria, two species of plantae, four species of protozoa, 23 species of Chromista, 12 species of Fungi and 206 species of animals. Moreover, Sailor is extensively distributed in invertebrates (a total of 206 species from six phyla) but is absent in vertebrates. Sailor transposons are 1.38–6.98 kb in total length and encoded transposases of ~676 aa flanked by TIRs with lengths between 18, 1362 and 4 bp (TATA) target-site duplications. Furthermore, our analysis provided strong evidence of Sailor transmissions from prokaryotes to eukaryotes and internal transmissions in both. However, low thermal conductivity of MCMs limits their application in electronic cooling systems. Increasing the percentage of components with high thermal conductivity can enhance the thermal conductivity of MCMs, but it often leads to increase CTE as well. Here, we demonstrate that vapor–liquid phase change can improve the heat transfer performance of tungsten-copper (W-Cu) alloy-based MCMs while maintain their low CTEs. Such strategy reduces the maximum temperature and thermal resistance of MCMs, and also allows for heat spreading from concentrated heat source with high power density. The W-Cu alloy-based vapor chamber (VC) has low thermal resistance of 0.38 K/W at 100 W and high lateral thermal conductivity of ~1727 W/(m·K). The W-Cu alloy-based VC can be readily integrated with the chip and heat sink to serve as cooling substrates for dissipating the heat and simultaneously lowering the thermal expansion mismatch by using its high thermal conductivity and low CTE. Transposons are the driving factors of genome evolution and speciation, which shape the genomes of almost all organisms. Among them, the Tc1/mariner and pogo superfamily, as the most widely distributed transposons in nature, are widely reported in insects. However, in bees, the research on transposons has never been systematically reported. Therefore, this study focuses on annotating the transposons of the Tc1/mariner and pogo superfamily of bees that were sequenced, revealing the distribution, diversity, potential activities, evolutionary patterns, and structural characteristics of transposons in different bees. Bees (Apoidea), the largest and most crucial radiation of pollinators, play a vital role in the ecosystem balance. Transposons are widely distributed in nature and are important drivers of species diversity. However, transposons are rarely reported in important pollinators such as bees. Here, we surveyed 37 bee genomesin Apoidea, annotated the pogo and Tc1/mariner transposons in the genome of each species, and performed a phylogenetic analysis and determined their overall distribution. The pogo and Tc1/mariner families showed high diversity and low abundance in the 37 species, and their proportion was significantly higher in solitary bees than in social bees. DD34D/mariner was found to be distributed in almost all species and was found in Apis mellifera, Apis mellifera carnica, Apis mellifera caucasia, and Apis mellifera mellifera, and Euglossa dilemma may still be active. Using horizontal transfer analysis, we found that DD29-30D/Tigger may have experienced horizontal transfer (HT) events. In contrast, GT s transposons were longer (2.0–5.8 kb), encoded a transposase protein of ~400 aa (range 140–592 aa), and were flanked by short TIRs (19–41 bp). Several conserved motifs, including two helix–turn–helix (HTH) motifs, a GRPR (GRKR) motif, a nuclear localization sequence, and a DDD domain, were also identified in maT and GT transposases. Phylogenetic analyses of the DDD domain showed that the maT and GT families each belong to a monophyletic clade and appear to be closely related to DD41D/ VS and DD34D/ mariner. Overall, the DD37D/ maT and DD39D/ GT families display significantly different distribution and tend to be identified in more ancient evolutionary families. The discovery of intact transposases, perfect TIRs, and target site duplications (TSD) of maT s and GT s illustrates that the DD37D/ maT and DD39D/ GT families may be active.
