Researchers from Radboud University Medical Center in the Netherlands have conducted a study on chronic pain after spinal surgery (CPSS), also known as failed back surgery syndrome. The study used cerebral diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DW-MRI) to compare imaging data from CPSS patients with healthy controls. The results showed that CPSS patients had significantly higher apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values in the spinothalamic tract, indicating microstructural changes in this region.
