This study aims to analyze the linear size of the bodies of participated cow used in the progeny test of dairy cows in KAN Jabung, Malang, East Java. The material used consisted of 180 lactating cows emplyed as participated cows. The research employed was a survey with data collection throught purposive sampling, selecting cows that are lactating based on specific criteria. The data were analyzed using correlation analysis and simple linear regression. The results of the study, revealed correlation values between body weight, chest circumference, body length, height with body condition score (BCS), as follows: 0,3542; 0,3523; 0,1926; 0,3198 respectively. Meanwhile, the correlation values of chest circumference, body length, and height with body were found to be: 0,9990; 0,5381; 0,4528, respectively. In conclusion, this study determined that the highest correlation of participated cow linear body size was observed in the relationship between chest circumference and body weight, while the lowest correlation was found in the relationship between body length and BCS.

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan di Pesantren Al Fatih di Desa Klampar Kecamatan Proppo, Kabupaten Pamekasan Madura. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kualitas pengelolaan usaha peternakan sapi pedaging, dan untuk meningkatkan peran dan fungsi pondok pesantren sebagai pendidikan non formal guna mendukung ketahanan pangan serta penguatan penerapan biosecurity dalam upaya pencegahan PMK. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini melalui observasi lokasi, diskusi dan wawancara, Participatory Rural, Participatory Technology Development, Educative, Forum Group Discussion (FGD). Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa peserta sangat antusias saat pelaksanaan. Edukasi yang diberikan pada peserta memberikan peningkatan pengetahuan tentang biosecurity yang signifikan, dari nilai pre-test 68.86 point, sedangkan nilai post-test 78.16 point, sehingga terjadi peningkatan 14%. Pengetahuan yang diaedukasikan meliputi; biosecurity PMK, sanitasi kandang, biosecurity keluar masuk wilayah farm/peternakan dan isolasi sapi yang sakit. Kesimpulan dalam kaegiatan ini adalah, peserta mampu memahami tentang materi peningkatan kualitas ternak melalui biosafety dan biosecurity PMK dan menerapkan teknologi tepat guna tentang formulasi pakan, dan sanitasi kandang untuk pencegahan dan reinfeksi PMK.

This study aimed to detect genetic diversity associated with litter size traits of the P21-activated kinases (PAK1) gene in Senduro and Boerawa goats using the PCR-RFLP method. The restriction enzyme used is MSP1 (C*CGG). A pair of primers used in this study, namely Forward ((5'-GCTCAGTGTTGTATTAGCAG-3') and Reverse (5'- CAAGATATAAAGCACAGCCG-3') product length 713 bp (access code ENSCHIG00000003071). The samples used in this study consisted of 80 samples of Senduro goats and 20 samples of Boerawa goats from UPT PT-HMT Singosari, Malang Regency. The results showed that the PAK1 exon 9 gene in Senduro goats and Boerawa goats UPT PT-HMT Singosari was uniform (monomorphic), it was because all samples had GG genotype and G allele frequency of 100%. In conclusion, the PAK1 exon 9 / MSP1 gene is monomorphic and does not associate with litter size in Senduro goats and Boerawa goats, so it cannot be used as a genetic marker.

ABSTRACT. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara ukuran tubuh linier dengan bobot badan domba Texel dan Awassi. Materi penelitian adalah 35 ekor domba yang terdiri dari 20 ekor domba Texel betina umur 1-1,5 tahun dan 15 ekor domba Awassi betina umur 2 tahun. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi dengan melakukan pengukuran ukuran linear tubuh dan penimbangan bobot badan. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara purposive sampling. Variabel yang diamati dalam penelitian ini adalah lingkar dada (LD), panjang badan (PB), tinggi pundak (TP), dan bobot badan (BB). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan yang sangat signifikan antara LD dan PB dengan BB pada domba Texel (P0,01). Sementara itu, TP memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dengan BB pada domba Texel (P0,05). Nilai korelasi dari yang tertinggi sampai yang terendah yaitu 0,82; 0,64; 0,48. Pada domba Awassi terdapat hubungan yang sangat signifikan antara LD dan TP dengan BB domba Awassi (P0,01). Sedangkan PB memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dengan BB domba Awassi (P0,05). Nilai korelasi dari yang tertinggi sampai yang terendah yaitu 0,89; 0,63; 0.73. Kesimpulan dalam penelitian ini adalah bahwa ukuran linear tubuh pada domba Texel dan Awassi seperti LD, PB, dan TP memiliki hubungan positif dengan BB. (Relationship between linear body measurements and body weight of Texel sheep and Awassi sheep) ABSTRAK. The aim of this research was to find the relationship between linear body measurements and body weight of Texel and Awassi sheep. The research material was 35 sheep consisting of 20 female Texel sheep aged 1-1,5 years and 15 female Awassi sheep aged 2 years. The method used in this research is observation by measuring body linear size and weighing body weight. Sampling was done by purposive sampling. The variables observed in this study were chest girth (CG), body length (BL), shoulder height (TP), and body weight (BW).The results showed that the very significant relationship between CG and BL with BW in Texel ewes (P0.01). Meanwhile, BH had a significant relationship with BW in Texel ewes (P0,05). The correlation values from the highest to the lowest, which is 0,82; 0,64; 0,48. In Awassi sheep there is a very significant relationship between CG and TP with BW Awassi ewes (P0,01). Meanwhile, TP had a significant relationship with the BW of Awassi ewes (P0.05). The correlation value from the highest to the lowest, which is 0.89; 0.63; 0.73. The conclusion in this study is that linear body measurements in Texel and Awassi ewes have a positive relationship with body weight.

Kambing merupakan sumber daging dan susu di banyak negara berkembang, karena kemampuannya untuk bertahan hidup dan tumbuh di bawah lingkungan iklim yang keras dibandingkan ruminansia lainnya. Fenomena ini memudahkan beternak kambing tanpa fasilitas yang canggih dan kebutuhan nutrisinya dapat dipenuhi dari berbagai jenis pakan atau padang penggembalaan yang tersedia. Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh penambahan biji kurma dalam pakan konsentrat terhadap rata-rata pertambahan bobot badan harian dan status gizi kambing Peranakan Etawah. Dua puluh ekor kambing dipilih secara acak dan didistribusikan ke dalam empat perlakuan masing-masing 5 ekor kambing. ABSTRACT. Galur kambing Senduro ditetapkan melalui Keputusan Menteri Pertanian Republik Indonesia Nomor 1055/Kpts/SR.120/10/2014. Kambing Senduro sebagai kekayaan sumber daya genetik ternak lokal Indonesia memiliki fenotip yang dapat diukur berdasarkan sifat kuantitatifnya. Penelitian pertama bertujuan untuk mengkaji fenotip kambing Senduro betina berdasarkan pada tinggi pundak, panjang badan, lingkar dada, bobot badan, dan panjang telinga. Penelitian kedua bertujuan menghubungkan sifat kuantitatif dengan umur ternak. Penelitian pertama menggunakan metode observasi, sedangkan penelitian kedua menggunakan metode korelasi. Data penelitian ditabulasi dan dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif dan analisis korelasi dengan menggunakan Microsoft Excel 2010 dan SPSS 26.0. Pengamatan dilakukan pada 102 ekor kambing Senduro betina. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kambing Senduro betina memiliki tinggi pundak 70-80 cm (55,88%), panjang badan 70-80 cm (53,92%), lingkar dada 80-90 cm (59,80%), bobot badan 50-60 kg (32,35%), dan panjang telinga 30-40 cm (69,61%). Panjang badan, lingkar dada, dan bobot badan memiliki korelasi positif yang sangat kuat dengan umur ternak. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan bahwa perlu adanya upaya pembaharuan data dan informasi terkait fenotip kambing Senduro yang berkaitan dengan sifat kuantitatif ternak yang mengacu pada Keputusan Menteri Pertanian Republik Indonesia Nomor 1055/Kpts/SR.120/10/2014. (Phenotype study of Senduro goats as wealth of Indonesian local livestock genetic resources) ABSTRAK. The Senduro goat breed was determined through the Decree of the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1055/Kpts/SR.120/10/2014. The Senduro goat as a wealth of genetic resources for local Indonesian livestock has a phenotype that can be measured based on its quantitative characteristics. The first study aimed to examine the phenotype of female Senduro goats based on shoulder height, body length, chest circumference, body weight, and ear length. The second study aimed to evaluate quantitative characteristics with the age of Senduro goat. The first research uses the observation method, while the second research uses the correlation method. Observations were made on 102 female Senduro goats. The results showed that female Senduro goats had a shoulder height of 70-80 cm (55.88%), body length 70-80 cm (53.92%), chest circumference 80-90 cm (59.80%), body weight 50 -60 kg (32.35%), and ear length 30-40 cm (69.61%). Body length, chest circumference, and body weight have a very strong positive correlation with the age of Senduro goat. This study recommends that efforts to update data and information related to the phenotype of the Senduro goat related to the quantitative characteristics of Senduro goat are needed which refers to the Decree of the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1055/Kpts/SR.120/10/2014.

This study aimed to investigated the morphometric characteristics of Pote goats, a local Indonesian goat breed found in Bangkalan Regency, East Java Province. A total of 139 respondents participated in the study, providing 622 female and male Pote goats aged over three months as research materials. This study employed a descriptive research method, including surveys and interviews, to retrieve data using purposive sampling technique. Quantitative data, such as body weight and body size, were analyzed descriptively using the average and standard deviation. Qualitative data, including body color, facial shape/profile, horns, beard, papillae, rewos fur, and udder shape, were analyzed using phenotypic frequency. The findings of this study revealed that Pote goats in Bangkalan are a small type of local Indonesian goat based on the body weight of an adult female and a large type based on shoulder height. Body weight and body size were found to increase with age. Furthermore, the dominant qualitative characteristics of Pote goats in Bangkalan include white color on the body, convex facial profile, drooping and widened ears with relatively short size, straight right and left horns, mane ruff, no papillae, and jug-shaped udder.

The purpose of this study was to determine and evaluate the use of date seed flour in feed on the small intestine characteristics of broilers. This study used 200 Day Old Chick (DOC) broilers with type MB 202. This study used a field experiment method with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments used were P0: basal feed without the use of date seed flour (DSF), P1: basal feed using 2.5% DSF, P2: basal feed using 5% DSF, P3: basal feed using 7.5% DSF, P4: basal feed using 10% DSF. The variables measured in this study were the number of villi, villi height, villi surface area, crypt depth, digesta pH, and digesta viscosity. The data obtained during the study were processed using Microsoft Excel software and analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and continued with Duncan's Multiple Range Test if the results obtained were significantly different (P0.05) on the number of villi, villi height, villi surface area, crypt depth, and digesta pH. This investigation aimed to identify the production and composition of crops as feed, classify the types of integrated farming in different locations, and compare dairy goats based on their morphometric characteristics. The data used were collected from July to November, 2021 in the Malang, Lumajang, and Bangkalan regencies of Indonesia, via a survey and direct observations. Descriptive, multivariate, and variance analyses were adopted using RStudio to analyze the collected data. In Malang and Lumajang, farmers adopted agroforestry, alley cropping, and cover crops as the main types of integrated farming. The integrated farming adopted by the farmers in Malang, Bangkalan, and Lumajang helped to explain the differences in forage crops. Calliandra calothyrsus, Indigofera zollingeriana, and Thitonia diversifolia are non-grasses having high levels of average production. In Lumajang, farmers provided only a few combinations with Calliandra which was the most intensively grown crop. In Malang, six crops were combined for the dairy goat feed. Pennisetum purpureum was the crop most intensely grown to feed the PE (Etawa crossbred). In Bangkalan, Pote-Arosbaya goats were fed a combination of eight crops. Moringa oleifera, Bambusa sp., Artocarpus heterophyllus, and natural grasses were the most popular feed crops. In Malang and Lumajang, the PE Singosari and Senduro goats had a high degree of similarity based on their morphometric characteristics, respectively.

GDFP is a standard guideline for producing good milk quality and efficient production system. GDFP implementation has been less attention among the dairy smallholder farmers. The smallholder farmers are classified into three categories depending on animal ownership; strata 1 (1-3 AU), strata 2 (4-6 AU), and strata 3 (>7 AU). This research determines the score of GDFP implementation on smallholder farmers in East Java. The total respondents were 56, with 325 dairy cattle. A questionnaire and field observations were used to collect data using the survey method. The farmers were interviewed using a prepared questionnaire with general information about their farms and questions about GDFP implementation. The result showed that the score of GDFP implementation in all strata of smallholder farmers in East Java Indonesia in 6 aspects as follows: animal health was “good enough†(score 2.68-2.70), milking hygiene was “good†(score 3.19-3.42), nutrition was “good enough†(score 2.86-2.97) in strata I and III and “good†for strata II (score 3.03), animal welfare was “good enough†(2.56-2.60), the environment was "good enough" (2.34-2.50) and socio-economic management is “not good†(score GDFP = 1.60-1.92).
