In this paper, we investigated the monitoring and characterization of the pest Magnaporthe oryzae, known as rice blast, in the Bomba rice variety at the Albufera Natural Park, located in Valencia, Spain during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Using reflectance data from different Sentinel-2 satellite bands, various vegetative indices were calculated for each year. Significant differences in reflectance in the visible (B4), infrared (B8), red-edge (B6 and B7), and SWIR (B11) bands were detected between healthy and unhealthy fields. Additionally, variations were observed in the vegetation indices, with RVI and IRECI standing out for their higher accuracy in identifying blast-affected plots compared to NDVI and NDRE. Early differences in band values, vegetative indices, and spectral signatures were observed between the unhealthy and healthy plots, allowing for the anticipation of control treatments, whose effectiveness relies on timely intervention. This study evaluates the integration of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on SDG 13 (Climate Action), in higher education and its impact on students' awareness and knowledge at the Universitat Politècnica de València. Given the urgency of addressing climate change and its repercussions, the research highlights the pivotal role of education in fostering understanding and engagement with the SDGs, particularly among engineering students. The study utilized pre- and post-awareness session surveys to assess the prior knowledge and subsequent learning progression concerning SDGs among students from the School of Telecommunications Engineering and the School of Agricultural Engineering and Environment. Results indicate a significant knowledge gap, with over 60% of students unaware of the SDGs. However. following targeted educational interventions, a marked increase in SDG comprehension and interest was observed, particularly among students from the agricultural and environmental engineering school, reflecting disciplinary influence on sustainability receptivity. Gender differences emerged. with women more aware of climate change's present effects while men expressed greater interest in future-related issues. Older students demonstrated better content assimilation, and public education students showed higher SDG awareness than those from private institutions. The study underscores the necessity for personalized education strategies and a revised approach to integrating SDGs into curricula and research projects to enhance the effectiveness of sustainability education in preparing future professionals to contribute to global sustainability challenges. In this paper, the analytical and numerical solutions of a non-steady state mathematical model are developed and analyzed. The mathematical model development of a non-steady state heat transport for a one-dimensional system is shown, and the analytical solution of the model is presented. The numerical solution of the model, using the finite element method (FEM), is compared to its analytical solution, proving its consistency. One of the advantages of using numerical tools is that more complex solutions can be obtained, even if the corresponding analytical solution does not exist or is not known, which is useful for engineering students. To demonstrate the applications and possibilities of this work, it is shown that changing the boundary conditions, geometry, or dimension in the system and the mathematical model, it can be solved through a numerical solution method. This is easier and more comprehensive for students rather than facing the complexity of the analytical solutions. The paper shows that it is possible to use the FEM in a university teaching context to complementarily explain the underlying physical phenomena of an engineering problem, here applied to a heat transfer problem in a vegetable.
