This article presents an augmented deep factor model that generates latent factors for cross-sectional asset pricing. The conventional security sorting on firm characteristics for constructing long–short factor portfolio weights is nonlinear modeling, while factors are treated as inputs in linear models. We provide a structural deep-learning framework to generalize the complete mechanism for fitting cross-sectional returns by firm characteristics through generating risk factors (hidden layers). Our model has an economic-guided objective function that minimizes aggregated realized pricing errors. Empirical results on high-dimensional characteristics demonstrate robust asset pricing performance and strong investment improvements by identifying important raw characteristic sources. We have developed a new polarizer system named "Light Control Polarizer (LCP)" that has a shading effect comparable to that of light control films (LCF) while significantly improving on‐axis luminance loss. The LCP exhibits a louver effect of 1.4% at a 60° polar angle and 1.1% at a ‐60° polar angle in vertical direction, with a 20% increase in on‐axis luminance over LCF and a 12% increase in contrast ratio (CR). These characteristics allow the LCP to work as an alternative to LCF providing with effective light shielding in the vertical direction without sacrificing display luminance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The most effective way to improve display visibility in ambient light is to suppress the reflectance of the display. After conducting a thorough analysis of the factors contributing to unwanted reflection, specific layers were identified that required improvement. Subsequently, these elements were carefully optimized, resulting in a significant reduction of internal reflection to 0.53% for our 12.3" FFS‐mode prototype, compared to 1.12% in conventional LCDs. This improvement was achieved without the use of circular polarizers and has been demonstrated to provide excellent visibility in bright ambient conditions while allowing for reduced backlight brightness and lower power consumption. gem‐Dibromoalkanes are important synthetic building block in organic chemistry, but their preparation is still troublesome. Herein, we have developed a simple and practical protocol for the synthesis of gem‐dibromoalkanes from aldehydes using tetrabutylammonium tribromide and triphenyl phosphite. A variety of alkyl and aromatic aldehydes can be transformed into the corresponding products within 10 minutes. We synthesized a (1‐propylpyridinium)2[ReN(CN)4]‐type organic–inorganic hybrid exhibiting water‐vapor‐induced drastic structural changes of the [ReN(CN)4]2− assemblies. Specifically, upon exposure to water vapor, dehydrated nitrido‐bridged chains were converted to hydrated cyanido‐bridged tetranuclear clusters via rearrangements of large molecular building units in the crystals. These switchable assembly forms display substantially different photo‐physical properties, although in both cases the emission is caused by a metal‐centered d–d transition. The nitrido‐bridged chain exhibited a near‐infrared (749 nm) emission, which blue‐shifted as the temperature increased, while a visible (561 nm) emission and its red shift was demonstrated by the cyanido‐bridged cluster.
