Attention is often viewed as a mental spotlight, which can be scaled like a zoom lens at specific spatial locations and features a center-surround gradient. Here, we demonstrate a neural signature of attention spotlight in signal transmission along the visual hierarchy. fMRI background connectivity analysis was performed between retinotopic V1 and downstream areas to characterize the spatial distribution of inter-areal interaction under two attentional states. We found that, compared to diffused attention, focal attention sharpened the spatial gradient in the strength of the background connectivity. Dynamic causal modeling analysis further revealed the effect of attention in both the feedback and feedforward connectivity between V1 and extrastriate cortex. In a context which induced a strong effect of crowding, the effect of attention in the background connectivity profile diminished. Our findings reveal a context-dependent attention prioritization in information transmission via modulating the recurrent processing across the early stages in human visual cortex. As the demand for high-capacity battery materials continues to grow, the exploration of the interaction mechanisms between Li/Na/K atoms and electrode materials has gained tremendous attention. In this study, we introduce a descriptor (ɛɑ) aimed at efficiently identifying high-performance electrode materials, specifically from two-dimensional transition metal chalcogenides and C and N compounds (MXenes). Our density functional theory calculations disclose a robust linear relationship between this descriptor and the adsorption energy (Ead), represented as Ead = ɛɑ + b. The fitting parameters, ɛɑ and b, are individually linked to the inherent properties of the substrate and adsorbate. Explicitly, the descriptor ɛɑ represents the capacity of the electrode material to accommodate an extra electron, while the intercept b is determined by the ionization energy (EIP) of alkali atoms and the coupling energy (Ecp) between the cation to the negatively charged substrate. • Three new multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB)/ pre-extensive drug-resistant tuberculosis (pre-XDR-TB) regimens, five drugs for 9 months. • The first cohort of short-course regimens for MDR-TB in China. • Of 99 assessable participants, 92.9% had a favorable outcome. • Culture conversion was 82.5% at month 2 and 97.9% at month 6. • Majority of adverse effects were manageable and reversible. Long, ineffective, and toxic regimens hinder the treatment of patients with multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) and pre-extensive drug-resistant tuberculosis (pre-XDR-TB). We conducted a multicenter cohort study to prospectively evaluate the safety and efficacy of three 9-month, all-oral, 5-drug regimens. Regimen A (bedaquiline [Bdq]+linezolid [Lzd]+moxifloxacin [Mfx]+cycloserine [Cs]+pyrazinamide [Pza]) and Regimen B (Lzd+Mfx+Cs+clofazimine [Cfz]+Pza) were used to treat MDR-TB patients (Groups A and B, respectively, assigned according to the patient's treatment preference), while Regimen C (Bdq+Lzd+Cs+Cfz+Pza) was used to treat pre-XDR-TB patients (Group C). The primary endpoint was the occurrence of an unfavorable outcome within 12 months of treatment completion, regardless of regimen. A total of 104 patients (34 in Group A, 46 in Group B, and 24 in Group C), with a median age of 35.5 (29.0-54.0) years, were included in the analysis population. At 12 months after treatment completion, five patients were deemed non-assessable. Of the remaining 99 participants, seven (7.1%) had an unfavorable outcome (including two deaths from any cause, four with treatment failure, and one loss to follow-up) and 92 (92.9%) had a favorable outcome. Culture conversion was achieved in 82.5% (80/97) of participants at month 2 and in 97.9% (94/97) of participants at month 6. Adverse events (AEs) resulting in drug adjustment occurred in 69.2% (72/104) of participants, mainly due to Lzd and Pza use. A QT interval prolongation of ≥ 500 ms occurred in 5.8% (6/104) of participants. The primary outcome of the three tailored, 9-month, all-oral, 5-drug regimens was satisfactory in the vast majority of MDR-TB and pre-XDR-TB patients, with manageable and reversible AEs. Given the rapid developments in modern electronics, there is an urgent need for polymer composites with excellent heat‐dissipating capabilities to address the cooling problem of these devices. However, designing a highly thermally conductive polymer composite that can outperform metals and ceramics while also exhibiting high processability and low cost remains a challenge. Herein, inspired by the fibrous pathway of human nervous system, natural wood fibers (WFs) are used as the template and coated with graphene nanoplates (GNPs) via a simple electrostatic self‐assembly approach. Subsequent hot‐pressing process yields "core‐sheath" microstructured fibers, wherein the GNPs are compactly contacted face to face and arranged along the surfaces of the fibrous WF "cores". This WF@G biocomposite consists of highly efficient 3D fibrous "tracks" for heat transmission, resulting in an extremely high thermal conductivity of 134 W (m K)−1, which is at par with those of many metals. It also exhibits several other desirable properties and functionalities, including high mechanical strength and excellent flame resistance as well as remarkable electromagnetic shielding and Joule heating performances, which has significant potential for use as a functional thermal management material (TMM). Background: Striatin interacting protein 2 (STRIP2) is a core component of the striatin-interacting phosphatase and kinase (STRIPAK) complexes, which is involved in tumor initiation and progression via the regulation of cell contractile and metastasis. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms of STRIP2 in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) progression remain largely unknown. Methods: The expressions of STRIP2 and IGF2BP3 in human NSCLC specimens and NSCLC cell lines were detected using quantitative RT-PCR, western blotting, and immunohistochemistry (IHC) analyses. The roles and molecular mechanisms of STRIP2 in promoting NSCLC progression were investigated in vitro and in vivo. Results: Here, we found that STRIP2 expression was significantly elevated in NSCLC tissues and high STRIP2 expression was associated with a poor prognosis. Knockdown of STRIP2 suppressed tumor growth and metastasis in vitro and in vivo, while STRIP2 overexpression obtained the opposite effect. Mechanistically, P300/CBP-mediated H3K27 acetylation activation in the promoter of STRIP2 induced STRIP2 transcription, which interacted with insulin-like growth factor 2 mRNA-binding protein 3 (IGF2BP3) and upregulated IGF2BP3 transcription. In addition, STRIP2-IGF2BP3 axis stimulated m6A modification of TMBIM6 mRNA and enhanced TMBIM6 stability. Consequently, TMBIM6 involved NSCLC cell proliferation, migration and invasion dependent on STRIP2 and IGF2BP3. In NSCLC patients, high co-expression of STRIP2, IGF2BP3 and TMBIM6 was associated with poor outcomes. Conclusions: Our findings indicate that STRIP2 interacts with IGF2BP3 to regulate TMBIM6 mRNA stability in an m6A-dependent manner and may represent a potential prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target for NSCLC. Megacheirans, or great‐appendage euarthropods, have featured prominently in discussions regarding the early evolution of the head region in total‐group Euarthropoda. However, several aspects of the ventral morphology of most representatives remain incompletely known given the loss of data associated with fossil compression, coupled with the rarity of some of these taxa. Here, we describe the ventral aspect of head organization of the jianfengiid megacheiran Jianfengia multisegmentalis using micro computed‐tomography, and explore its evolutionary significance. The head consists of a pair of stalked eyes, a pair of great appendages, and four pairs of biramous appendages, all covered by a dorsal head shield. The rostral portion of the head bears a median projection, which we interpret as an anterior sclerite akin to that observed in several other Cambrian euarthropods. The anterior sclerite in J. multisegmentalis articulates with robust stalks with rounded projections in a more adaxial position, and bears the compound eyes. Critically, the ventral side of the head of J. multisegmentalis features a prominent lobe‐shaped hypostome/labrum complex located immediately behind the great appendages, and between the first pair of biramous appendages. This situation is consistent with that observed in Leanchoilia illecebrosa and suggests a conserved, and possibly ancestral, pattern of a six‐segmented head (eyes, great appendages and four biramous limb appendages) with a hypostome/labrum complex for Megacheira. The existence of the hypostome/labrum complex in J. multisegmentalis falsifies the hypothesis that the anterior projections on the head of jianfengiids might be homologues of the euarthropod labrum. Erythrokeratodermia variabilis et progressiva (EKVP) is a rare genodermatosis of clinical and genetic heterogeneity, characterized by the manifestations of localized or disseminated persistent hyperkeratotic plagues and stationary to migratory transient erythematous patches. The majority of EKVP cases display an autosomal dominant mode of inheritance with incomplete penetrance, although recessive transmission has also been described. Mutations associated with EKVP have been primarily detected in connexin (Cx) genes. We herein reported a Chinese sporadic case of late‐onset EKVP with a novel heterozygous missense mutation c.109G>A (p.V37M) in GJB4 (Cx30.3) gene, which resulted in a significant reduction of GJB4 expression in the epidermis of the patient. In accordance, while wild‐type GJB4 localized at the cell membrane of HeLa cells forming intercellular junctions and intracellular puncta, V37M mutant variant was diffusely expressed within HeLa cells at a considerably lower level. Modulating the surface electronic properties of the 2D MXenes is of significant importance to boost their hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) activity. Herein, a series of transition metal adatoms are employed to tune the surface electronic properties of Cr-based MXenes with oxygen function group for realizing impressive HER performance. The Results show that the charge of surface oxygen atoms, which is affected by both the host metal atoms and the adsorbed transition metal atoms, play critical role in the adsorption strength of hydrogen. The optimal performance is achieved by depositing Cr atom on the Cr 2 TiC 2 O 2 MXene, which results in the adsorption free energy of hydrogen very close to zero (0.03 eV). Systematic electronic structure analyses confirm that the charge transfer from the adsorbed transition metals to the neighboring surface oxygen atoms could tune the orbital occupancy of oxygen and their adsorption strength to hydrogen atom and therefore the HER activity. These findings and concepts may be useful for the design of advanced MXene-based HER catalysts. Carbon monoxide (CO) oxidation is an efficient way to purify CO. Herein, the geometrical properties, electronic structure and CO oxidation catalytic activity of Zn single atom catalyst (SAC) on pristine Ti 2 CT 2 (T = N/O/F) MXenes and defective ones (T v /Ti 2 CT 2) with a functional-group vacancy (T v) were calculated by using density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The results revealed that Ti 2 CN 2 may serve as an excellent substrate to stabilize single Zn atom catalyst, compared to Ti 2 CT 2 (T = O/F) and T v /Ti 2 CN 2 (T = N/O/F). The catalytic oxidation mechanism of CO on the surface of Zn–Ti 2 CN 2 has been systematically studied. The Eley–Rideal (ER) mechanism was identified as the most preferential pathway with the smallest rate-determining energy barrier of 0.06 eV, since the Zn atom can considerably promote the activation of O 2 molecule and weaken the O–O bond. Electronic structure analysis confirmed the synergistic effects of adsorbed single Zn atom and substrate in regulating electron transfer, activating the adsorbed small molecule reactants and enhancing CO oxidation activity. Overall, this work reveals that Zn–Ti 2 CN 2 could be a promising low-temperature CO oxidation candidate and probably provides a new theoretical guidance and inspiration for the experimental and theoretical research to design more effective single atom catalysts with nonprecious metals. The development of perovskite solar cells has improved rapidly. However, PSCs generally suffer from instability, due to the detrimental defects. Additive engineering is a favorable method for defect passivation. In this work, the linear pseudo-halogen salt, KSCN, is introduced into the MAPbI 3 perovskite film to improve the performance of PSC. The trap density of cells with SCN− is decreased significantly. The SCN− not only can fill halogen vacancies to reduce the halide-related defects, but also can interact with the uncoordinated Pb2+ via coordinate bond to stabilize perovskite lattice structure. Moreover, the performance of devices with other linear pseudo-halogen anions (OCN−, SeCN−) are also investigated. Due to the improved short circuit current density, the power conversion efficiency of devices increases from 18.02% (PVK) to 20.41% (PVK–SCN-), 19.53% (PVK–OCN-) and 19.23% (PVK–SeCN-), respectively. Highly active, durable, and cost‐effective electrodes for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) at ultrahigh current densities (≥1 A cm−2) are extremely demanded for industrial high‐rate hydrogen production, but challenging. Here, a robust strongly coupled Ag(S)@NiO/nickel foam (NF) electrode is reported. Taking advantage of millisecond laser direct writing in liquid nitrogen technique, lattice‐matched and coherent interfaces are formed between Ag nanoparticles with stacking faults (denoted by Ag(S)) and NiO nanosheets, leading to strong interfacial electronic coupling, not only promoting H2O adsorption and dissociation on Ni2+ but also enhancing H* adsorption on intrinsically inactive but most electrically conductive Ag. Strong chemical bonding is established at NiO/NF interface, guaranteeing rapid electron transfer and excellent mechanical durability under high‐rate hydrogen evolution. The physicochemically stable electrode achieves record‐low alkaline HER overpotential of 167 and 180 mV at 1 and 1.5 A cm−2, respectively, along with negligible activity decay after 120 h test at ≈1.5 A cm−2, surpassing reported non‐platinum group metal electrocatalysts. [Display omitted] • Defective PtX 2 (X = S, Se, Te) is an excellent structure for supporting Pt atom. • Pt 1 /PtTe 2 has high catalytic activity for CO oxidation. • The electronegativity of X atoms changes the O 2 capture ability of the substrate. • Defective monolayer TMDs can serve as excellent substrates for SACs. The geometric stability, electronic structure and catalytic properties towards CO oxidation of a single Pt atom supported on PtS 2 , PtSe 2 , PtTe 2 with a S, Se, and Te vacancies (Pt 1 /PtX 2) were systematically explored by density functional theory calculations. The results showed that the single Pt atom can be located at the vacancy site stably, providing accessible active sites for CO oxidation. Both the Langmuir-Hinshelwood (LH) mechanism and the termolecular Eley-Rideal (TER) mechanism were considered comprehensively. By comparing the rate-determining step (RDS) of CO oxidation process, we found that the LH mechanism is easier to achieve. Meanwhile, as the X atom changes from S to Te, the RDS energy barrier gradually decreases, which is attributed to promoted adsorption and activation of O 2 molecules on Pt 1 /PtX 2. The results show that Pt 1 /PtTe 2 is the most active catalysts with a low RDS barrier of 0.41 eV. This work provides an important reference for the design of single atom catalysts (SACs) based on transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), and has profound implications for the use of supported SACs on defective TMDs for CO oxidation or other reactions. The catalytic activity of single metal atom were effectively enhanced by different coordination environments, and the underlying improvement mechanisms are generally ascribed to the electronic structure modification by in-plane ligands. Herein, taking the recently synthesized MoNO composites modified carbon as representative, we clarified the multiple functions of axial oxygen ligand in improving the oxygen reduction activity. The active Mo atom is protruded from graphene plane due to the interaction with axial oxygen ligand, and during adsorption of oxygenates, the hanging oxygen ligand would wag to leave space and meanwhile tune the orbital orientation of Mo atom, giving rise to an optimal adsorption strength on the side in presence of oxygen ligand. The dynamic oxygen ligand may participate in the catalysis through hydrogenation reaction at the coadsorption stage with oxygen intermediate. The obtained overpotential of 0.35 V on MoN 2 O 1 -pen-gra along homolateral adsorbate evolution mechanism is comparable to recent experiments, approving the reliability of models and mechanism proposed in current study. The present results could provide some new insights into the functions of axial ligands and further guide the rational design of axial coordination to improve the catalytic performance. Air gun arrays are designed to generate strong energy pulses of less than 100 Hz for offshore oil and gas exploration. In shallow seas, due to the directivity of air gun arrays, the complex propagation conditions and the limitations of acquisition methods, it is difficult to accurately evaluate the spatial time and frequency transmission characteristics of airguns. To alleviate the existing lack of knowledge about the transmission characteristics of air gun pulses in the shallow waters of the Bohai Sea, we analysed three‐dimensional ocean bottom cable seismic data collected during a seismic survey in the Bohai Sea, China, in June 2017, which were used to evaluate the reception level, frequency domain characteristics and spatial distribution characteristics within a 5.55 × 5.575 km area. The results showed that in shallow water, multipath propagation causes downfrequency chirplike sounds and an increased sound field. Within 0.3 km, the transmission model follows a cylindrical diffusion, and the sound loss rate decreases as the transmission distance increases until reaching 8 km. Signal capture by the sound channel results in a high transmission loss frequency band, whereas multimode interference weakens the transmission loss. The gun array directivity and the transmission channel are the two main factors affecting the acoustic field. This research provides an improved understanding of the acoustic field of airguns in the Bohai Sea, which can benefit the acoustic modelling of air gun arrays, the design of future seismic exploration projects and the conservation of marine life. • Graphene improves the electrical conductivity of iron phthalocyanine molecules. • The iron phthalocyanine exhibits different OER activity on various graphene substrates. • The defective graphene most promoted the OER activity with potential of 0.45 V. • The activity origin is the moderate adsorption of oxygen-containing intermediate by iron atoms. Electrolysis of water is a clean, sustainable and efficient way to produce hydrogen, and will be indispensable among the production of renewable energy in the future. The oxygen evolution reaction (OER) plays a key role of water decomposition. Here, we attached iron phthalocyanine to graphene, and explored the influence of different graphene substrates to catalytic activity using the first-principles methods based on density functional theory. Graphene improves the dispersion and electrical conductivity of iron phthalocyanine molecules, and facilitates its OER activity. The introduction of substrate promotes the electron transfer between FePc and the oxygen-containing intermediates. The results indicated that the iron phthalocyanine exhibits different OER activity on various graphene substrates, among which the defective graphene most promoted the OER activity. The improved activity is originated from the axial interaction between the iron and carbon atoms on the defective graphene, leading to a moderate adsorption of oxygen-containing intermediates. Background: Data on the outcomes of restrictive cardiomyopathy (RCM) are limited, when the condition is complicated with arrhythmia. This study was designed to investigate the prevalence of atrial fibrillation (AF), ventricular tachycardia (VT) and bradycardia (BC) and their impact on adverse outcomes (intra-cardiac thrombus, stroke and systematic embolism [SSE], heart failure and death) of RCM. Methods and Results: The retrospective cohort study used data collected from the Beijing Municipal Health Commission Information Center (BMHCIC) database from 1 January 2010 to 31 December 2020. There were 745 (64.9%) patients with AF, 117 (10.2%) patients with VT and 311 (27.1%) patients with bradycardia. The presence of AF was associated with an increased risk of SSE (adjusted HR:1.37, 95%CI:1.02–1.83, p = 0.04) and heart failure (aHR:1.36, 95%CI:1.17–1.58, p < 0.001). VT was associated with an increased risk of intracardiac thrombus (aHR:2.34, 95%CI:1.36–4.01, p = 0.002) and death (aHR:2.07, 95%CI:1.19–3.59, p = 0.01). Bradycardia did not increase the adverse outcomes in RCM. The results remained consistent and steady when AF, VT and bradycardia were adjusted as competing factors. Conclusions: Cardiac arrhythmia are highly prevalent and associated with adverse outcomes in patients with RCM. AF and VT are more likely to be associated with intracardiac thrombosis, and the presence of AF increased the risk of SSE and HF. The presence of VT increased the risk of death. Rational design of supported catalysts with alloy monolayer on suitable substrate is of crucial importance for reducing the cost and enhancing the catalytic activity. In this work, the reactivity of Cu-Au alloy monolayer supported on WC for HER is investigated using density functional theory (DFT) calculations, and the results are compared with those of the supported pure monolayer ones. It is found that the Cu-Au alloy monolayers on WC exhibit enhanced stability and tunable HER activity. Superior activity of Cu 2 Au 7 d@WC(0001) for HER (ΔG = 0.007 eV) is identified according to the calculated Gibbs free energy and the exchange current density. Geometric and electronic analyses enable to a deep understanding on the important role of the specific configuration and ratio of Cu and Au for moderate H adsorption. Cu doping leads to the synergistic ligand and stress effects in the alloy systems, which further optimize the adsorption characters and the charge redistribution around the dopants, which is essential to the high HER activity. The present study sheds light on the significance of alloy effects on tuning the geometric stability and electronic properties as well as the catalytic activity, which may benefit to the rational design and development of supported alloy materials. Background: α-cyclodextrin (α-CD) is one of the dietary fibers that may have a beneficial effect on cholesterol and/or glucose metabolism, but its efficacy and mode of action remain unclear. Methods: In the present study, we examined the anti-hyperglycemic effect of α-CD after oral loading of glucose and liquid meal in mice. Results: Administration of 2 g/kg α-CD suppressed hyperglycemia after glucose loading, which was associated with increased glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) secretion and enhanced hepatic glucose sequestration. By contrast, 1 g/kg α-CD similarly suppressed hyperglycemia, but without increasing secretions of GLP-1 and insulin. Furthermore, oral α-CD administration disrupts lipid micelle formation through its inclusion of lecithin in the gut luminal fluid. Importantly, prior inclusion of α-CD with lecithin in vitro nullified the anti-hyperglycemic effect of α-CD in vivo, which was associated with increased intestinal mRNA expressions of SREBP2-target genes (Ldlr, Hmgcr, Pcsk9, and Srebp2). Conclusions: α-CD elicits its anti-hyperglycemic effect after glucose loading by inducing lecithin inclusion in the gut lumen and activating SREBP2, which is known to induce cholecystokinin secretion to suppress hepatic glucose production via a gut/brain/liver axis. Objective. Laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) is a common malignant tumor. Laminin 5γ2 chain (LAMC2) was reported to be associated with tumorigenesis. This study explored the role of LAMC2 on LSCC progression by regulating the integrinβ1/FAK/Src/AKT pathway. Methods. The level of LAMC2 in 46 LSCC patients was detected by qRT-PCR and western blot. Then the relationship between LAMC2 expression and LSCC malignancy as well as prognosis was analyzed, and the effect of LAMC2 expression on LSCC patient survival was also analyzed using the Kaplan–Meier survival curves. Afterwards, the LSCC cells were transfected with LAMC2 overexpression and knockdown vectors, the effect of LAMC2 on LSCC cell viability, proliferation ability, cell cycle, cell migration, and invasion were detected by CCK-8, colony formation, flow cytometry, wound healing, and Transwell assays. The expression of EMT-related biomarkers and integrin β1/FAK/Src/AKT signaling-related proteins was detected by western blot. Moreover, the effect of LAMC2 on LSCC tumor growth was evaluated by in vivo xenograft experiments and western blot. Results. LAMC2 was expressed at high level in LSCC tissues and associated with poor prognosis. LAMC2 overexpression increased TU177 cell viability, proliferation ability, promoted cell cycle, cell migration, and invasion capacity. The expression of N-cadherin, vimentin, and integrinβ1/FAK/Src/AKT related proteins was increased, while the expression of E-cadherin protein was decreased. When the LAMC2 knockdown in AMC-HN-8 cells had opposite effects. Furthermore, shLAMC2 decreased tumor volume and the expression of LAMC2, Ki-67 and integrinβ1, but increased the expression of E-cadherin in LSCC tumor-bearing mice. Conclusion. The findings suggested that LAMC2 was overexpressed in LSCC and correlated with poor prognosis. LAMC2 knockdown inhibited LSCC progression by regulating the integrinβ1/FAK/Src/AKT signaling pathway. Remotely operated vehicle (ROV) observations have recently revealed seep dolomite deposits covering the seafloor on Middle Dongsha of the South China Sea (SCS). Spurred by these findings, we studied the mineralogical and geochemical properties to examine the seep dolomite's origin, precipitation mechanism, and formation environment. These carbonates mainly comprise dolomite (from 64 to 84 wt%), followed by small amounts of calcite (from 1 to 3 wt%), locally containing magnesite (∼4 wt%), and goethite (∼14 wt%). Extensively developed mineralized cells containing high Mg and Ca contents found in chimneys imply that microbially-mediated processes probably participated in the reactivation of dolomite precipitation. The moderate and concentrated δ13C values (from −36.64 to −39.16‰, V-PDB) indicated that the carbon in carbonates was mainly derived from thermogenic methane. The methane fluids most likely ascended beneath the volcaniclastic unit and inherited enriched positive Eu anomalies due to fluid–rock interactions during their seepage along tectonic faults to the seafloor. The δ18O values (4.2–4.8‰, V-PDB) of carbonate suggested that an 18O-depleted fluid was involved in carbonate precipitation. The high total Rare-Earth Element contents (ΣREE) of seep carbonates varied from 61 ppm to 92 ppm, reflecting the chemical composition of surrounding pore waters at the time of carbonate precipitation, exhibiting less mixing with seawater. It may also indicate higher alkalinity and pH of the pore water. Although the sea-like REE patterns (HREE-enriched, negative Ce anomalies) are not caused by seawater, they may be due to the complexation competition between humic acid (HA) and carbonate for REE at high pore-water alkalinity and high CO 3 2− concentrations. This is consistent with the dolomite chimney pointing toward a formation environment in relatively deep sediments, in particular, close to the sulfate-methane interface in sediments, where the bicarbonate concentration reaches its maximum due to AOM. Moderate Mo and no U enrichments appeared in the carbonates, suggesting a relatively lower intensity of methane seepages with relatively reduced AOM rates. The wide range of (Mo/U) EF values and U–Mo covariation indicates the very dynamic AOM rate (slow to moderate) and redox conditions (mostly suboxic–anoxic, occasionally sulfidic conditions) during carbonate formation due to episodically changing seepage activity. We elucidated the factors, evolution, and compensation of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) isolates under dual pressure from the intra-host environment and anti-tuberculosis (anti-TB) drugs. This retrospective case-control study included 337 patients with pulmonary tuberculosis from 15 clinics in Tianjin, China, with phenotypic drug susceptibility testing results available for at least two time points between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2016. Patients in the case group exhibited acquired AMR to isoniazid (INH) or rifampicin (RIF), while those in the control group lacked acquired AMR. The whole-genome sequencing (WGS) was conducted on 149 serial longitudinal MTB isolates from 46 patients who acquired or reversed phenotypic INH/RIF-resistance during treatment. The genetic basis, associated factors, and intra-host evolution of acquired phenotypic INH/RIF-resistance were elucidated using a combined analysis. Anti-TB interruption duration of ≥30 days showed association with acquired phenotypic INH/RIF resistance (aOR = 2·2, 95% CI, 1·0–5·1) and new rpoB mutations (p = 0·024). The MTB evolution was 1·2 (95% CI, 1·02–1·38) single nucleotide polymorphisms per genome per year under dual pressure from the intra-host environment and anti-TB drugs. AMR-associated mutations occurred before phenotypic AMR appearance in cases with acquired phenotypic INH (10 of 16) and RIF (9 of 22) resistances. Compensatory evolution may promote the fixation of INH/RIF-resistance mutations and affect phenotypic AMR. The TB treatment should be adjusted based on gene sequencing results, especially in persistent culture positivity during treatment, which highlights the clinical importance of WGS in identifying reinfection and AMR acquisition before phenotypic drug susceptibility testing. [Display omitted] Refractory high-entropy alloy nanocomposites (HEA-NPs) are important class of materials with unique structure and potential applications. Although several synthetic methods have been reported, developing novel routes to prepare nanoscale HEA-based catalysts facilely is still urgently desired. This work takes advantage of confinement assisted arc and plasma shock (APS) to prepare a series of HEA-NPs by regulating the type and proportion of metal precursors. The phase constitutes and morphology of the HEA-NPs are fully characterized. The prepared refractory HEA-NPs possesses five highly dispersed metal components, including titanium (Ti), niobium (Nb), tantalum (Ta), chromium (Cr), molybdenum (Mo) and simultaneously exhibits an uniform hexagonal morphology of nanocrystals. By taking advantage of its unique corrosion resistance, TiNbTaCrMo HEA-NPs can function as a promising candidate for electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in natural seawater. And its catalytic performance after alloying is significantly enhanced compared with the elemental metal. Theoretically, the promoted HER activity can be attributed to the strong adsorption for the various metal components in HEA-NPs caused by the upshifting d -band center close to the Fermi level. Furthermore, this confinement strategy can be further extended to synthesize other HEA-NPs. Our strategy provides a novel method to synthesize various HEA-NPs for further catalytic application. Background: The early Cambrian arthropod clade Megacheira, also referred to as great appendage arthropods, comprised a group of diminutive and elongated predators during the early Palaeozoic era, around 518 million years ago. In addition to those identified in the mid-Cambrian Burgess Shale biota, numerous species are documented in the renowned 518-million-year-old Chengjiang biota of South China. Notably, one species, Tanglangia longicaudata, has remained inadequately understood due to limited available material and technological constraints. In this study, we, for the first time, examined eight fossil specimens (six individuals) utilizing state-of-the-art μCT and computer-based 3D rendering techniques to unveil the hitherto hidden ventral and appendicular morphology of this species. Results: We have identified a set of slender endopodites gradually narrowing distally, along with a leaf-shaped exopodite adorned with fringed setae along its margins, and a small putative exite attached to the basipodite. Our techniques have further revealed the presence of four pairs of biramous appendages in the head, aligning with the recently reported six-segmented head in other early euarthropods. Additionally, we have discerned two peduncle elements for the great appendage. These findings underscore that, despite the morphological diversity observed in early euarthropods, there exists similarity in appendicular morphology across various groups. In addition, we critically examine the existing literature on this taxon, disentangling previous mislabelings, mentions, descriptions, and, most importantly, illustrations. Conclusions: The μCT-based investigation of fossil material of Tanglangia longicaudata, a distinctive early Cambrian euarthropod from the renowned Chengjiang biota, enhances our comprehensive understanding of the evolutionary morphology of the Megacheira. Its overall morphological features, including large cup-shaped eyes, raptorial great appendages, and a remarkably elongated telson, suggest its potential ecological role as a crepuscular predator and adept swimmer in turbid waters. N6-methyladenosine (m6A) is a prevalent internal modification in eukaryotic RNAs regulated by the so-called "writers", "erasers", and "readers". m6A has been demonstrated to exert critical molecular functions in modulating RNA maturation, localization, translation and metabolism, thus playing an essential role in cellular, developmental, and disease processes. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are a class of non-coding RNAs with covalently closed single-stranded structures generated by back-splicing. CircRNAs also participate in physiological and pathological processes through unique mechanisms. Despite their discovery several years ago, m6A and circRNAs has drawn increased research interest due to advances in molecular biology techniques these years. Recently, several scholars have investigated the crosstalk between m6A and circRNAs. In this review, we provide an overview of the current knowledge of m6A and circRNAs, as well as summarize the crosstalk between these molecules based on existing research. Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common inflammatory dermatologic disease clinically characterized by intense itch, recurrent eczematous lesions, and a chronic or relapsing disease course. Mild-to-moderate AD can be controlled by using moisturizers and topical immunomodulators such as topical corticosteroids and calcineurin inhibitors. If topical therapies fail, phototherapy and systemic immunosuppressant therapies, such as ciclosporin, methotrexate, and azathioprine, can be considered. However, relapse and side effects could still occur. The pathogenesis of AD involves epidermal barrier dysfunction, skin microbiome abnormalities, and cutaneous inflammation. Inflammatory mediators, such as interleukin (IL)-4, IL-13, IL-31, IL-33, IL-17, IL-23, and thymic stromal lymphopoietin, are involved in AD development. Therefore, a series of biological agents targeting these cytokines are promising approaches for treating AD. Dupilumab is the first biological agent approved for the treatment of AD in patients aged 6 years and older in the United States. Tralokinumab, lebrikizumab, and nemolizumab have also been confirmed to have significant efficacy against AD in phase III or IIb clinical trials. Also, fezakinumab was effective in severe AD patients in a phase IIa trial. However, phase II trials of ustekinumab, tezepelumab, etokimab, secukinumab, and omalizumab have failed to meet their primary endpoints. Phase II trials of GBR 830 and KHK 4083 are ongoing. Introduction: The urgent need for new treatments for multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) and pre-extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (pre-XDR-TB) is evident. However, the classic randomized controlled trial (RCT) approach faces ethical and practical constraints, making alternative research designs and treatment strategies necessary, such as single-arm trials and host-directed therapies (HDTs). Methods: Our study adopts a randomized withdrawal trial design for MDR-TB to maximize resource allocation and better mimic real-world conditions. Patients' treatment regimens are initially based on drug resistance profiles and patient's preference, and later, treatment-responsive cases are randomized to different treatment durations. Alongside, a single-arm trial is being conducted to evaluate the potential of sulfasalazine (SASP) as an HDT for pre-XDR-TB, as well as another short-course regimen without HDT for pre-XDR-TB. Both approaches account for the limitations in second-line anti-TB drug resistance testing in various regions. Discussion: Although our study designs may lack the internal validity commonly associated with RCTs, they offer advantages in external validity, feasibility, and ethical appropriateness. These designs align with real-world clinical settings and also open doors for exploring alternative treatments like SASP for tackling drug-resistant TB forms. Ultimately, our research aims to strike a balance between scientific rigor and practical utility, offering valuable insights into treating MDR-TB and pre-XDR-TB in a challenging global health landscape. In summary, our study employs innovative trial designs and treatment strategies to address the complexities of treating drug-resistant TB, fulfilling a critical gap between ideal clinical trials and the reality of constrained resources and ethical considerations. In recent years, valleytronics researches based on 2D semiconducting transition metal dichalcogenides have attracted considerable attention. On the one hand, strong spin–orbit interaction allows the presence of spin–valley coupling in this system, which provides spin addressable valley degrees of freedom for information storage and processing. On the other hand, large exciton binding energy up to hundreds of meV enables excitons to be stable carriers of valley information. Valley polarization, marked by an imbalanced exciton population in two inequivalent valleys (+ K and − K), is the core of valleytronics as it can be utilized to store binary information. Motivated by the potential applications, we present a thorough overview of the recent advancements in the generation, relaxation, manipulation, and transport of the valley polarization in nonmagnetic transition metal dichalcogenide layered semiconductors. Electric detection of spin currents is critical for integrating spintronic devices into charge-based semiconductor chips and systems. The magnetogyrotropic photogalvanic effect (MPGE) converts spin current into charge current through spin–orbit coupling in the presence of an in-plane magnetic field. A giant MPGE photocurrent implies either a large spin current or high spin-to-charge conversion efficiency, whichever is important for future spintronic devices. In this Letter, we report on the MPGE photocurrents excited by linearly polarized near-infrared radiation in a GaAs/Al0.3Ga0.7As heterostructure, which are increased by up to five times by an additional visible light with adjustable power. We present a theoretical model and suggest that the optical manipulation of the linear MPGE photocurrent is primarily attributed to the spin current tuned by the momentum relaxation time and spin splittings. It is very important for industrial production to develop a strong bonding and multifunctional soy protein (SP)-based adhesive with excellent coating property and high prepressing strength especially for wet veneer. Inspired by mussels, catechol structure was grafted to soybean protein molecules (SPU) by ring opening reaction and free radical polymerization, which endowed the adhesive excellent coating performance on wet veneer. Inspired by oysters, magnesium hydroxide with unsaturated bond (MH@A172) was synthesized, and then mixed with SPU to obtain an organic-inorganic hybrid adhesive (SPU/MH@A172). During the curing process, the synergistic enhancement of the formed cross-linking structure and inorganic mineralization strategy improved the cohesion of SPU/MH@A172 adhesive and endowed strong bonding strength of prepared plywood. That is, when the SPU/MH@A172 adhesive was applied to wood veneer of 100% moisture content, it can be evenly coated and the prepressing bonding strength at 20 °C with 3 h reached 0.53 MPa, which meets the bonding strength requirement of plate forming (≥0.4 MPa). After hot-curing process, the wet and dry shear strength of the prepared plywood reached 1.07 MPa and 2.03 MPa, respectively. In addition, the adhesive had excellent stiffness (45.21 GPa) and micro adhesion (4.62 nN). Importantly, adhesives exhibited excellent mildew resistance (14 days, grade 2), flame retardancy (HRC = 114 kJ/g), low smoke suppression (Ds_max = 95.09) and volatile organic compound release (6.43*106 mg/m2⋅h). Therefore, this collaborative bionic strategy provides a possibility for the development and functional modification of underwater adhesive, film, hydrogels and composite materials. Background The effectiveness and sustainability of masking policies as a pandemic control measure remain uncertain. Our aim was to evaluate different masking policy types on severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) incidence and to identify factors and conditions impacting effectiveness. Methods Nationwide, retrospective cohort study of US counties from 4/4/2020–28/6/2021. Policy impacts were estimated using interrupted time-series models with the masking policy change date (eg, recommended-to-required, no-recommendation-to-recommended, no-recommendation-to-required) modeled as the interruption. The primary outcome was change in SARS-CoV-2 incidence rate during the 12 weeks after the policy change; results were stratified by coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) risk level. A secondary analysis was completed using adult vaccine availability as the policy change. Results In total, N = 2954 counties were included (2304 recommended-to-required, 535 no-recommendation-to-recommended, 115 no-recommendation-to-required). Overall, indoor mask mandates were associated with 1.96 fewer cases/100 000/week (cumulative reduction of 23.52/100 000 residents during the 12 weeks after policy change). Reductions were driven by communities with critical and extreme COVID-19 risk, where masking mandated policies were associated with an absolute reduction of 5 to 13.2 cases/100 000 residents/week (cumulative reduction of 60 to 158 cases/100 000 residents over 12 weeks). Impacts in low- and moderate-risk counties were minimal (<1 case/100 000 residents/week). After vaccine availability, mask mandates were not associated with significant reductions at any risk level. Conclusions Masking policy had the greatest impact when COVID-19 risk was high and vaccine availability was low. When transmission risk decreases or vaccine availability increases, the impact was not significant regardless of mask policy type. It is a fascinating phenomenon in nuclear physics that states with a pronounced few-body structure can emerge from the complex dynamics of many nucleons. Such halo or cluster states often appear near the boundaries of nuclear stability. As such, they are an important part of the experimental program beginning at the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB). A concerted effort of theory and experiment is necessary both to analyze experiments involving effective few-body states, as well as to constrain and refine theories of the nuclear force in light of new data from these experiments. As a contribution to exactly this effort, this paper compiles a collection of “perspectives” that emerged out of the Topical Program “Few-body cluster structures in exotic nuclei and their role in FRIB experiments” that was held at FRIB in August 2022 and brought together theorists and experimentalists working on this topic. Iron (Fe), sulfur (S), and molybdenum (Mo) geochemistry in marine sediments impacted by hydrothermal plumes and/or cold seeps is complex and has not been systematically documented. Here we characterize Fe, S, and Mo diagenesis in sediments between the Minami‐Ensei Knoll hydrothermal field and a cold‐seep site of the middle Okinawa Trough. Results show that distances away from the hydrothermal field and the steep trough slope may significantly affect the transport of hydrothermal Fe. The transformation of hydrothermal reactive Fe to poorly reactive or unreactive Fe‐bearing phyllosilicates decreased the relative fractions of highly reactive Fe (FeHR) in total Fe (FeHR/FeT). Despite this, the standing stocks of Fe oxides in the methane‐free sediments have not been dampened, indicating no net impacts of hydrothermal Fe inputs on the size of Fe oxides. In the methane‐free sediments, low ratios of total reduced inorganic sulfide (TRIS) to total organic carbon (TOC) (TRIS/TOC), highly 34S‐depleted pyrite, and low Mo contents suggest that organoclastic sulfate reduction is at low rates and plays a limited role in carbon cycle. In the cold‐seep sediments, however, intense sulfate reduction coupled to anaerobic methane oxidation significantly elevate TRIS/TOC ratios, Mo enrichment, and isotope compositions of Mo and pyrite‐S. This pathway is expected to be important in carbon cycle in the basin due to the wide occurrence of cold seeps. Our results highlight the important controls of the local extreme depositional/diagenetic conditions on sedimentary S and Mo records, with implications for the reconstruction of paleoredox states of the past earth's surface. Plain Language Summary: Submarine methane‐rich cold seeps and hydrothermal venting exert important influences on the geochemistry of iron, sulfur, and molybdenum. However, the influences of the two extreme environments on the three interlinked elements in seafloor have not been well documented. Here, we used solid‐phase chemistry of four sediment cores located between a hydrothermal field and a cold‐seep site in the middle Okinawa Trough to document the impacts of the two extreme environments on the geochemistry of iron, sulfur, and molybdenum. Results show that hydrothermal Fe signature in the sediments is largely controlled by the distances away from the hydrothermal field and the steep slope of the trough; the hydrothermal Fe inputs have no net impacts on sedimentary iron oxide contents due to simultaneous inactivation of reactive Fe. In the methane‐free sediments, sulfate reduction (SR) is coupled mainly to oxidation of sedimentary organic carbon. In the cold‐seep site, however, SR coupled to anaerobic methane oxidation is the main pathway of carbon cycle, leading to significant enrichments of molybdenum and isotopically heavy pyrite. The differences highlight the important control of local extreme depositional/diagenetic conditions on geochemical records of iron, sulfur, and molybdenum, with implications for the reconstruction of paleoredox states in the past. Benvitimod (Tapinarof), as a small-molecule topical therapeutical aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR)-modulating agent, is in clinical development for treating psoriasis and atopic dermatitis. Benvitimod reduces proinflammatory cytokines in psoriasis by specifically binding and activation of AHR. However, whether benvitimod can inhibit keratinocyte proliferation remains unclear. Minichromosome maintenance protein 6 (MCM6) is a key element of the prereplication complex (pre-RC) assembly which is one of the essential steps in the initiation of DNA replication for cell proliferation. This study aimed to determine whether benvitimod could reduce the excessive proliferation of psoriatic keratinocytes by inhibiting MCM6. We examined the inhibitory effect of benvitimod on MCM6-mediated proliferation of keratinocytes by HaCaT cells in vitro and an IMQ-induced psoriatic model of mice in vivo. Epidermal MCM6 expression was enhanced in the skin lesions of psoriatic patients. The experiments further revealed that MCM6 was required for the proliferation of keratinocytes and governed by the IL-22/STAT3 pathway. In addition, the antiproliferation effect of benvitimod is achieved by the inhibition of p-JAK1 and p-JAK2, which further restrained the activation of STAT3 in keratinocytes. Lastly, benvitimod could repressed imiquimod-induced skin lesions and the expression of epidermal MCM6 and p-STAT3 in mice. Moreover, knockdown of AHR in keratinocytes enhanced the activation of JAK1 and JAK2. Its clinical application, however, is limited by its transdermal drug delivery rate, the time-consuming, and the greasy therapy. In this study, which was inspired by local block injection used in the clinical treatment for keloid, a hyaluronic acid (HA) based system to transport FK506 into the skin to treat psoriasis, named blocking patch (BP) was developed. BP has a complete appearance, sufficient puncture strength, and is virtually non-irritating in vivo. By confocal fluorescence microscopy, BP loaded with FK506 (FK506-BP) showed satisfactory transdermal release ability in vivo. Further animal studies revealed that FK506-BP showed a good anti-inflammatory ability in the imiquimod (IMQ)-induced mouse psoriasis-like dermatitis and inhibited the activation of associated immune cells. By confocal fluorescence microscopy, BP loaded with FK506 (FK506-BP) showed satisfactory transdermal release ability in vivo. Further animal studies revealed that FK506-BP showed a good anti-inflammatory ability in the imiquimod (IMQ)-induced mouse psoriasis-like dermatitis and inhibited the activation of associated immune cells. Tuberculosis (TB) is a major fatal infectious disease globally, exhibiting high morbidity rates and impacting public health and other socio-economic factors. However, some individuals are resistant to TB infection and are referred to as "Resisters". Resisters remain uninfected even after exposure to high load of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb). To delineate this further, this study aimed to investigate the factors and mechanisms influencing the Mtb resistance phenotype. We assayed the phagocytic capacity of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) collected from Resisters, patients with latent TB infection (LTBI), and patients with active TB (ATB), following infection with fluorescent Mycobacterium bovis Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG). Phagocytosis was stronger in PBMCs from ATB patients, and comparable in LTBI patients and Resisters. Subsequently, phagocytes were isolated and subjected to whole transcriptome sequencing and small RNA sequencing to analyze transcriptional expression profiles and identify potential targets associated with the resistance phenotype. The results revealed that a total of 277 mRNAs, 589 long non-coding RNAs, 523 circular RNAs, and 35 microRNAs were differentially expressed in Resisters and LTBI patients. Further, the endogenous competitive RNA (ceRNA) network was constructed from differentially expressed genes after screening. Bioinformatics, statistical analysis, and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction were used for the identification and validation of potential crucial targets in the ceRNA network. As a result, we obtained a ceRNA network that contributes to the resistance phenotype. TCONS_00034796-F3, ENST00000629441-DDX43, hsa-ATAD3A_0003-CYP17A1, and XR_932996.2-CERS1 may be crucial association pairs for resistance to TB infection. Deciphering sedimentary provenance in the Okinawa Trough (OT) is vital for understanding the dispersal system from source to sink and the paleoenvironmental evolution in the East China Sea (ECS). Sources include the Huanghe, Changjiang, and Taiwan rivers, as well as the ECS shelf; however, there is controversy over which source has dominated sediment supply since the last deglaciation, and how the tidal currents, shelf circulation, and Kuroshio Current (KC) has controlled the sediment transport. Here, we present a high-resolution record of grain size and clay minerals over the last 14.3 kyrs in an AMS 14C dated piston core from the middle OT. We use these data to reconstruct changes in the KC, identify the provenance of fine-grained sediment, and unravel the impact of paleoenvironmental factors on these provenance changes. A grain size component of 15.6–31.3 μm was extracted to reconstruct the KC changes. These data show that the KC strengthened sharply until 10.2 ka, then kept strong and stable during the Holocene. Clay mineral assemblages indicate that the sediment was mainly derived from the ECS shelf between 14.3 and 8.6 ka, then from the Taiwan rivers after 8.6 ka. The shelf sediment was eroded and transported by intense tidal currents. Taiwan river sediment became the dominant source due to the development of Taiwan Warm Current rather than the strengthening of KC. The ratio of smectite and kaolinite to illite and chlorite content indicates that the sediment contribution from the Huanghe (old Huanghe delta) and Changjiang rivers increased from 7.6 to 5.0 ka and from 3.2 ka to the present. This increase is attributed to the strengthening of East Asian winter monsoon and the consequent intensification of cross-shelf circulation. • Sediment source changed from East China Sea shelf to Taiwan rivers at 8.6 ka. • Tidal reworking controls shelf sediment supply during the last deglaciation. • Taiwan Warm Current induces early Holocene provenance change rather than Kuroshio. • Winter monsoon enhances Huanghe and Changjiang supply at 7.6–5.0 ka and 3.2–0 ka. A special-designed optical detection chamber based on micro-Raman spectroscopy featured a 13 × 10 mm imaging field of view and a 50 µm imaging resolution was developed to gather morphology and composition information of MPs. During sea trials, the system successfully detected polypropylene (PP) microplastic and other suspended substances in seawater including microalgae, organic substances, and sands. The results demonstrate that the adsorption energies of the lithium polysulfides (LiPSs) were enhanced monotonically and the metallic properties were also remaining along with the strain from compressive to tensile. In addition, an appropriate strain could reduce the migration barrier of Li ions, the dissociation barrier of Li 2 S and the Gibbs free energy of the sulfur reduction reaction (SRR) to realize the rapid charge/discharge processes. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have shown great potential in treating autoimmune diseases due to their immunomodulatory capability, which has been verified in both animal experiments and clinical trials. Psoriasis is a chronic and remitting immune-related disease. Limited studies have demonstrated that MSCs might be an effective therapeutic approach for managing psoriasis, whose underlying mechanism remains to be elucidated. In our present study, human umbilical cord-derived MSCs (hUC-MSCs) were subcutaneously injected into mice with imiquimod (IMQ)-induced psoriasis-like skin inflammation to explore the feasibility of this cellular therapy. The severity of psoriasis-like dermatitis was evaluated by cumulative psoriasis area and severity index score and epidermal thickness of skin tissue sections. Flow cytometric analysis was utilized to detect T helper cells, regulatory T cells, and γδ T cells in skin-draining lymph nodes. Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay were used to assess the expression levels of psoriasis-related cytokines and chemokines in mouse dorsal skin lesions. We discovered that hUC-MSCs drastically diminished the severity of IMQ-induced psoriasis-like dermatitis and suppressed inflammatory cell response. Although the tail vein injection of hUC-MSCs was also effective, it was correlated with higher mortality owing to pulmonary embolism. By comparison, subcutaneous injection with two million hUC-MSCs was identified to be the optimal therapeutic strategy. Furthermore, we uncovered that hUC-MSCs might repress skin inflammation probably through inhibiting interleukin-17-producing γδ T cells. In conclusion, subcutaneous administration of hUC-MSCs might be a promising therapeutic approach for psoriasis. Background: Deep-sea mussels living in the cold seeps with enormous biomass act as the primary consumers. They are well adapted to the extreme environment where light is absent, and hydrogen sulfide, methane, and other hydrocarbon-rich fluid seepage occur. Despite previous studies on diversity, role, evolution, and symbiosis, the changing adaptation patterns during different developmental stages of the deep-sea mussels remain largely unknown. Results: The deep-sea mussels (Bathymodiolus platifrons) of two developmental stages were collected from the cold seep during the ocean voyage. The gills, mantles, and adductor muscles of these mussels were used for the Illumina sequencing. A total of 135 Gb data were obtained, and subsequently, 46,376 unigenes were generated using de-novo assembly strategy. According to the gene expression analysis, amounts of genes were most actively expressed in the gills, especially genes involved in environmental information processing. Genes encoding Toll-like receptors and sulfate transporters were up-regulated in gills, indicating that the gill acts as both intermedium and protective screen in the deep-sea mussel. Lysosomal enzymes and solute carrier responsible for nutrients absorption were up-regulated in the older mussel, while genes related to toxin resistance and autophagy were up-regulated in the younger one, suggesting that the older mussel might be in a vigorous stage while the younger mussel was still paying efforts in survival and adaptation. Conclusions: In general, our study suggested that the adaptation capacity might be formed gradually during the development of deep-sea mussels, in which the gill and the symbionts play essential roles. Flexible perovskite solar cells (FPSCs) represent a promising technology in the development of next‐generation photovoltaic and optoelectronic devices. SnO2 electron transport layers (ETL) typically undergo significant cracking during the bending process of FPSCs, which can significantly compromise their charge transport properties. Herein, the semi‐planar non‐fullerene acceptor molecule Y6 (BT‐core‐based fused‐unit dithienothiophen [3,2‐b]‐pyrrolobenzothiadiazole derivative) is introduced as the buffer layer for SnO2‐based FPSCs. It is found that the Y6 buffer layer can enhance the ability of charge extraction and bending stability for SnO2 ETL. Moreover, the internal stress of perovskite films is also reduced. As a result, SnO2/Y6‐based FPSCs achieved a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 20.09% and retained over 80% of their initial efficiency after 1000 bending cycles at a curvature radius of 8 mm, while SnO2‐based devices only retain 60% of their initial PCE (18.60%) upon the same bending cycles. In addition, the interfacial charge extraction is also effectively improved in conjunction with reduced defect density upon incorporation of Y6 on the SnO2 ETL, as revealed by femtosecond transient absorption (Fs‐TA) measurements. Geochemistry of iron and trace metals in seep carbonates and its dependence on anaerobic oxidation of methane (AOM)-driven diagenesis in cold seeps are not well documented. Here we characterize geochemistry of Fe and trace metals in carbonate nodules collected at an active cold seep in the middle Okinawa Trough (OT) impacted by hydrothermal plumes. The carbonate nodules in the studied core are dominated by aragonite even at sulfate-low core bottom. Most aragonite at the core bottom may have formed much earlier close to the seafloor under high sulfate concentration. Additionally, porewater at the depth may not be developed to a condition for the formation of calcite dominating over aragonite due to constant downward replenishment of sulfate across through shallow SMTZ (40 cm below sediment surface). As indicated by δ13C and δ18O of the carbonates, anaerobic oxidation of thermogenic methane from gas hydrate dissociation is the dominant fluid source for carbonate precipitation. It can be inferred from the existence of vivianite that Fe reduction coupled to AOM (Fe-AOM) may have ever been prevalent at the hydrothermal Fe-impacted seep site. Enhanced inputs of Mo, Co, Cu, Ni, and Zn associated with hydrothermal Fe-oxyhydroxides-organic colloids is the main source for their high enrichment in the carbonate nodules, and clay minerals and AOM-related microbial organics may have played an important role in their partitioning in the nodules. Uranium enrichment in the carbonate nodules is mainly through enhanced U delivery associated with Fe-oxyhydroxides-scavenged organic colloids and additional U enrichment induced by U(VI) reduction. U(IV) incorporation into carbonate lattices dominates U partitioning in the carbonate nodules over the upper 60 cm of the seep sediments, but the incorporation is substantially dampened at depth due to an increase in concentration of dissolved inorganic carbon, which consequently may have rendered U(IV) adsorption on clay minerals as the important U sink in the nodules. Lignin-derived porous carbon (LDPC) is a low-cost and sustainable electrode material for supercapacitors. However, the complex three-dimensional amorphous structure of lignin brings challenges to the morphology and structure control of LDPC, which limits the electrochemical performance of these electrodes. Herein, a series of LDPCs with different particle morphologies and hierarchical pore structures are prepared by spray drying and KOH activation. It is found that the morphology and structure of LDPCs can be effectively controlled by adjusting the spray drying temperature and KOH ratio. A systematic investigation has been conducted on the relationship between the morphology and structure of LDPCs and their electrochemical performance. The preferred LDPC exhibits excellent electrochemical performance, showing high specific capacitances of 372.5 F g−1 and 264.8 F g−1 at current densities of 0.2 A g−1 and 20 A g−1, respectively, in the three-electrode test. The symmetric supercapacitor assembled with the LDPC electrode material exhibits superior cycling stability and energy density. After 10000 cycles of continuous charging and discharging at current density of 1 A g−1, the specific capacitance retention is as high as 96.4%. When the power density is 493.3 W kg−1, the energy density reaches ∼9.1 Wh kg−1. This work offers a viable method for regulating the morphology and structure of LDPC electrode material for high-performance supercapacitor application. In this article, a novel 1.05–1.25 GHz filtering antenna feeding network with reconfigurable frequency and polarization is proposed. It simply consists of a reconfigurable in-/out-of-phase filtering power divider and a 90° hybrid coupler. By controlling the varactors in the in-/out-of-phase reconfigurable filtering power divider (RFPD) without any switch component, the proposed three-port feeding network offers continuous reconfigurable filtering responses with four switchable output patterns including equal power dividing with phase difference of negative or positive 90° and single-ended output at either output port. With this proposed feeding network connecting to a regular dual-polarized antenna, the resulted antenna system can easily realize reconfigurable polarization of vertical polarization (V-LP), horizontal polarization (H-LP), LHCP, and RHCP, in addition to its reconfigurable filtering responses. A prototype using microstrip technology is designed, fabricated, and measured to demonstrate the proposed technique. Good agreement between the simulated and measured results is obtained. The measured results show that the feeding network covers a frequency range of 1.05–1.25 GHz, and the errors of phase difference and amplitude imbalance are less than 5 and 0.5 dB, respectively. Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) patients have been suffering long, ineffective, and toxic treatment until short-course injectable-free regimens emerged. However, the new WHO-recommended regimens might be less feasible in the real-world setting. Here, we evaluated two optimized all-oral short-course regimens in China. From April 2019 to August 2020, we conducted a prospective nonrandomized controlled trial and consecutively included 103 MDR-TB patients diagnosed with pulmonary MDR-TB in Shenzhen, China. A 4-5 drug regimen of 9-12 months was tailored to the strain's resistance patterns, patients' affordability, and tolerance to drugs. This was an interim analysis, focusing on the early treatment period. 53.4% (55/103) of patients were prescribed linezolid, fluoroquinolone (FQ), clofazimine, cycloserine, and pyrazinamide, followed by a regimen in which clofazimine was replaced by bedaquiline (35/103, 34.0%). The culture conversion rate was 83.1% and 94.4% at two and four months, respectively, with no significant difference between bedaquiline-free and bedaquiline-containing cases and between FQ-susceptible and FQ-resistant cases. Among 41 patients who completed treatment, 40 (97.6%) patients had a favorable outcome and no relapse was observed. Peripheral neuropathy and arthralgia/myalgia were the most frequent AEs (56.3%, 58/103). 18 AEs caused permanent discontinuation of drugs, mostly due to pyrazinamide and linezolid. This article demonstrates a 10.23–15.7-GHz varactor-tuned microstrip bandpass filter (BPF) with fully controllable center frequency, bandwidth, and transmission zeros. The concept of cascading a tunable low-pass unit together with a tunable high-pass unit is adopted to achieve the reconfigurable BPF. A comprehensive loss analysis is carried out to determine the preferable circuit topologies for low-pass filter (LPF) and high-pass filter (HPF), respectively. This not only overcomes the limitation of low quality factor of varactor at high frequency, but also contributes to a highly flexible reconfigurability of the BPF. A reconfigurable LPF using defected ground structure (DGS) and a quasi-elliptic HPF using microstrip technology are then proposed to demonstrate the improved BPF performance at high frequency. The measured results show that the designed BPF is capable of operating in five working modes, with a center frequency tuning range from 10.23 to 15.7 GHz and a fractional bandwidth (FBW) tuning range from 32.48% to 95.76%. The minimum in-band insertion loss reaches 2.55 dB. A steep cutoff characteristic and ultrawide stopband with high rejection level are successfully achieved and are well preserved during the whole tuning process, demonstrating the superiority of the designed BPF. • The diatom assemblages are closely correlated with the environmental variables. • Three assemblages are distinguished with different hydrological characteristics. • Important for palaeoceanographic studies in the northern and middle Okinawa Trough. Determining the relationship between diatoms in surface sediments and the local sedimentary environment is important for paleoenvironmental reconstruction, including in marine settings. In this study, we used canonical correspondence analysis of 41 surface sediment samples from the northern and middle Okinawa Trough to analyze the relationship between diatom species and environmental variables. The principal results are as follows. (i) The diatom assemblages are closely correlated with the environmental variables, specifically, July sea surface salinity (SSS-Jul), February sea surface temperature (SST-Feb), and June sea surface temperature (SST-Jun). (ii) Three diatom assemblages are distinguished, representing environments with different hydrological characteristics. The high-temperature diatom assemblage may indicate a warm-water mass (the Kuroshio Current), and the polyhaline diatom assemblage can be used as an indicator of a high salinity water mass. The mixed diatom assemblage is associated with the warm-water masses of the Kuroshio Current, and shelf water masses with a low salinity and low temperature. (iii) The high-temperature and mixed diatom assemblages occur on the boundary of the continental shelf and Okinawa Trough, and are temperature sensitive; the high-temperature assemblage is located further upstream of the Kuroshio Current, indicating higher temperatures. Changes in the distribution of the polyhaline diatom assemblage within sediment cores can be regarded as an indicator of changes in water masses, and of possible salinity variations, in this area. In this study, a strong and multifunctional soy protein adhesive was designed and developed. It was then combined with wood units to prepare a clean and electromagnetic shielding wood-based panel via simple hot press. Specifically, bio-based raw material was prepared by grafting pyrrole (PY) and dopamine hydrochloride (DOPA) in sequence on to soy protein isolate (SPI), and then combined with AgNO 3 and a self-synthesized bio cross-linker epoxidized quercetin (EQC), to develop a strong and conductive soy protein-based adhesive with mildew-proof and flame-retardant properties. A covalent cross-linked structure and noncovalent bond (hydrogen bonds and ionic bonds) were formed among SPI, EQC, DOPA, and Ag+. As well, a hybrid structure was formed via in situ polymerization of Ag NPs, resulting in an adhesive with improved water resistance. Thus, the dry and wet shear strengths of plywood bonded with resultant adhesive increased by 78% and 52.4%, respectively, relative to those of the SPI adhesive. The modified adhesive exhibited good mildew resistance (shelf life ＞ 15 d) due to the natural antibacterial properties of quercetin, and the dynamic equilibrium of Ag NPs and Ag+ in the presence of DOPA. Meanwhile, the LOI of the modified adhesive was 41.3%, which is higher than that of SPI, improving flame retardancy of the resultant plywood. Notably, the obtained adhesive exhibited conductivity owing to the presence of polypyrrole (up to 7.09 S/cm), which can be used to develop reflection-based particle board with electromagnetic shielding ability. This study provides a high-potential and feasible strategy for developing multifunctional biomass composites to replace metal and polymer materials, which is an important and practical approach to promote sustainable development of materials and reduce carbon emissions. Sediments on continental slopes, which are rich in hydrates and organic matters, may release methane into the overlying seawater and even into the atmosphere. To evaluate the impact of sediment emissions on oceanic methane cycling and greenhouse gas emissions, this study assessed the distribution of methane in surface sediments and water columns and calculated the sea-to-air methane flux in the Dongsha area of the northern South China Sea. Results show that the methane concentrations exhibited large spatio-temporal changes. In May 2019, the methane concentrations and sea-to-air methane flux (4.1 ± 3.7 μmol m−2 d−1) were close to the background values, indicating that in situ aerobic methane production was a weak atmospheric methane source. In contrast, in September 2020, abnormally high methane concentrations up to 26.6 nM were detected in the upper slope with water depths of 600–950 m and to the east of a seamount; the average sea-to-air methane flux increased to 11.3 ± 7.9 μmol m−2 d−1. The consistency of methane distribution throughout the water column and surface sediments, with a generally increasing trend with the increasing depth, indicates that in September 2020, sediment emissions were crucial methane sources in seawater and led to moderate emissions into the atmosphere. The heterogeneities of methane concentrations and sea-to-air methane fluxes were attributed to the uneven distribution of methane in the sediments. Besides, strong internal solitary waves in summer and autumn exacerbates methane release, especially around high terrain areas, such as in continental upper slopes and in the upstream side of seamounts. Our results demonstrate that methane released from the sediments, being perhaps affected by internal solitary waves induced sediments disturbance, substantially impacted the oceanic methane cycling in continental slopes.
