The article presents the 2005 state of the air report of Australia. Data collected by the Australian Bureau of Meteorology at Cape Grim, Tasmania, show that carbon dioxide increased by two parts per million since 2001, compared to the growth rate of just over one part per million in the early 1980s. Synthetic greenhouse gases showed a strong accelerating trend at seven parts per trillion. Nitrous oxide also registered an accelerated growth rate at approximately one part per billion. However, methane concentrations have not increased for the past six years.
