The article presents instructions from do it yourself (DIY) blogger Joy Cho for applying and removing contact paper on trash cans, desktops, and tables and also mentions Cho's book "Oh Joy! 60 Ways to Create & Give Joy".
The article shares the author's technique in using self-stick shelf paper in the U.S. When using self-stick shelf paper, the author does not tear off all the backing. Instead, she cut it to fit and only tear the backing off around the edges. The shelf paper slips easily into place and when the author removes it, there is no sticky residue left on the shelf.
The article reports that one can easily mend a torn tip with some simple office supplies. First, cut out a tiny square of white paper. Place it over the tear and dot superglue directly on top of it. Let the glue sink through the paper and dry, then buff smooth.
