The article presents information on the benefits of recycling paper. Recycling one ton of paper saves 17 mature trees, 7,000 gallons of water, and 380 gallons of oil. Making new paper from recycled paper uses 30 to 50 percent less energy than making paper from trees, and it produces 95 percent less air pollution.
A few statistics are presented regarding activities from daily living that impact the environment. Reportedly, a third of the trash thrown away is paper. The author proposes a number of trees that could be saved if readers of the publication used fewer sheets of paper each week. A software program from GreenPrint Technologies that removes the blank pages that follow documents printed from the internet is presented.
