Scientometrics is an important field of information science as it represents a unique set of techniques and tools for the monitoring and analysis of information resources and for the management of knowledge in social and organizational contexts. This article analysed the various Scientometric components of the articles published by top six universities of Tamil Nadu from 2000-2017. The study identifies research trend, characteristics growth and collaboration pattern of published literature. The analysis of data reveals that the average growth rate increases at the rate of 9.76%. Further, the average citation per paper observed is 12.18%. High degree of international collaboration is notified and USA and South Korea are found to be the most preferred collaborative countries. The CAGR calculated for six universities are 9.76. Librarians organize information resources of all kind for easy access and retrieval; organizational records are one of such information resources that librarians organize for quick access and easy retrieval when needed by the organizations. Academic records being vital information resources that determines the future of students and the efficient workability of academic institutions like universities and other schools are to be well managed and organized so as not to get them mutilated, destroyed or missing. These academic records which include course registration, results, transcript and the likes are supposed to be well managed as they contain delicate information concerning the daily transactions of students and lecturers in the institution and they also contain evidence of academic performances of the trainees. In this 21st century universities in Nigeria are expected to be able to grow beyond managing such delicate and important records manually with the use of papers, files and cabinet to managing the records with the use of academic records management system software (ARMS) that is specially configured with the relevant and requisite modules to manage and organize academic records. Whereas a lot of universities in Nigeria are yet to upgrade to using some of these software to manage their academic records, it is pertinent for this paper to be able to expose some of such ways that these very important records can be properly and efficiently managed. Academic libraries are meant to acquire, provide and disseminate information resources to satisfy their patron's information needs. A potent means in which librarians in academic libraries can optimize for their work and services as well as maintain their relevance is through social media. The purpose of this paper is to expose library and information personnel in academic libraries to the effective utilization of social media as an effective tool for re-defining and transforming academic library services in the 21st century. The specific objectives are to identify the types of social media used for effective library service provision in academic libraries, to identify the roles of social media in libraries, to identify the skills needed by librarians to effectively sustain library services through social media, to identify the major challenges associated with social media as a tool for service delivery and to develop strategies for effective adoption and utilization of social media as a tool for library service delivery. The methodology adopted is content analysis. The study was done by related literature review in which related articles on social media in academic libraries were analyzed. Hence, the study reviewed and analyzed the content of 21 articles in which topical issues based on this paper were addressed. The study revealed that social media are powerful tools that can enhance and promote library services. To be able to stay relevant in the socially networked environment and meet the growing needs of its patrons in the 21st century, it has become imperative for academic libraries to explore and adopt social media, which has become a library technology that has the capacity to expand the frontiers of library service delivery as well as to reach the hitherto unreached categories of patrons. The study recommended that academic libraries personnel should efficiently explore and adopt various social media platforms that are suitable for their community so as to grow the visibility and social media presence of their libraries and as well, reach out to every member of their community. This paper examines the cardinal benefits of library consortium which is the resource sharing. Resource sharing aims at maximizing collection and services of libraries and information centres at minimum cost. Various sources of information (primary and secondary literature) were perused to view the essentiality of resource sharing in carrying out effective and efficient library and information services to users. The paper also highlighted the requirements needed for successful resource sharing practices among libraries. The significance/benefits of resource sharing as it relates to economic, developmental, academic/research as well as social life of librarians and library personnel were clearly stated. An ideal library networking model for resource sharing as well as examples such as DELNET, INFLIBNET, GILLDDNET and NULIB were presented. Various challenges militating against effective resource sharing were highlighted. The education system in India is fast developing; educational institutes and various government departments conduct different types of exams in India to select the ideal candidates. In recent years, public libraries have become the primary source of resources for students, job seekers, and the general public. As a result, the current study examines the use of public libraries in the preparation for competitive examinations through a comprehensive evaluation of academic research papers. The study consist of 371 citations which have been appeared in two volumes i.e., 8 issues of International Journal of Library and Information Studies during the years 2014 and 2015. The distribution pattern of citation by type of documents i.e. journals are heavily cited (43.54%). It was observed that books fell in the next order (11.74%) followed by conference proceedings, reports, symposia papers representing 28.42 percent of the total which occupy an important place in usage. The study investigated the usage electronic academic databases resources by lecturers and postgraduate students in Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta State, Nigeria. Specifically, the study identified the types of electronic academic databases that lecturers and postgraduate students are aware of, the electronic academic databases that are available and used, purpose of usage of electronic academic database and the problems militating against the effective use of electronic academic databases resources. Four specific objectives with corresponding research questions guided the study. The study adopted a descriptive research design. The population of the study is 134 lecturers and postgraduate students in WDU. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire with the title "Usage of Electronic Academic Database Resources Questionnaire (UEADRQ)". Data collected was analyzed using frequency counts and percentages. The findings showed that there was a high level of awareness of the electronic academic database by the lecturers and postgraduate students and they equally made use of them. However, NUC Virtual library, HINARI, Research4life, AGORA and EBSCO Host were not being used as such. JSTOR, Elsevier, DOAJ, ProQuest, Science direct, and LexisNexis where been put to maximum usage. Research, writing of seminar/conference paper, assignments/seminar presentations and getting up-to-date information with subject areas were the purpose of their usage of the electronic academic databases. Lack of search skill, slow internet bandwidth and incessant power outrage were some of the problems militating against the effective usage of electronic academic database resources in WDU. Based on the findings of the study, it was concluded that electronic academic databases are vital information resources that need to be available in academic libraries for use by lecturers and students in the pursuit of their academic advancement. The study recommended among others, that orientation, workshop and seminar should be organized by librarians and university authorities on how to acquire the needed search skills in order to be able to make adequate use of these electronic academic database resources in order to advance academic excellence. Lecturers and student's attendance at such orientations, workshop and seminars should be made compulsory by the university authority. Business information has become a critical factor for the growth and success of small-scale business enterprises, the library as an institution responsible for information resources, sources and services to users, has indeed, become an indispensible partner in this national socio-economic growth and development drive. The electronic age has made users search beyond print media while looking for information resources. Functionally, university libraries of the current dispensation provide access to both print and electronic resources to serve users and to increase the visibility of their institutions, and as a measure of prestige. This paper discusses utilization of library and information resources and its importance in research process. It views research as a systematic painstaking investigation of a topic or in a field of study often employing technique of hypotheses and experimentation, undertaken by a person intent on revealing new facts, theories or principles or determining skill and identification of research problems which is connected to the level of library and information resources usage and hence determines the productivity or output of researchers. The purpose of this paper is to know the distance learner's satisfaction with library resources, services and facilities in Kuvempu University Library. This study used questionnaire-based survey method to collect the data from the PG distance students of Kuvempu University. 1435 questionnaires were distributed, out of which 1435 duly filled in questionnaires were received back. The study suggested that advanced training for users at different levels should be started. Objective: This paper aims at determining students' attributes and utilization of information resources in academic libraries in Imo State. The study focused on four (4) Universities in Imo State while four (4) variables were considered: students' study habit, intellectual curiosity and information literacy skill, with a sample of one hundred and twenty (120) respondents. Methods: The sample respondents were drawn using a simple random sampling technique through structured questionnaires. The answer to the research questions were arrived at using the descriptive analysis while the hypotheses were tested using t-test at 5% level of significance. Results: The results show that the major determinants of students' utilization of library information resources are: students' information literacy skill to use the computer and Internet facilities provided to access information resources for their assignments; to explore new ideas and balance their study time with recreation to avoid conflict. The result also shows a significant relationship between students' study habit, intellectual curiosity, information literacy skill and utilization of information resources in the library. Conclusion: The extent of students' knowledge of how to access sources of information using computer and Internet facilities provided; students' desire to explore new ideas to among others update themselves and carry out their class assignments affects their utilization of library information resources. Research remains an integral part of university postgraduate studies. Literature is a key ingredient of research report writing, while paper based information resources are often difficult to remotely access, the internet has encouraged and enhanced information resources access and use. It is therefore pertinent that universities worldwide should ensure the provision and access to information resources, particularly those available in electronic format. This study thus investigated the use of electronic information resources (EIR) by postgraduate students of the Olabisi Onabanjo University using the Davis Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). A survey research design was adopted for this study and the population for the study comprised Four Hundred and Sixty-Two (462) postgraduate students of the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Nigeria. Using Yamane (1973) formula, Two Hundred and Fourteen respondents were identified for the study. 214 copies of the questionnaire were administered and 183 copies were retrieved. Out of the 183 copies retrieved, 178 copies were found useful for further use. The return date was 83%. The study found that the TAM parameters influence the use of EIRs by the students, the study thus recommend the sustenance of regular subscriptions to the various EIR database being currently provided by the university. Information is an important tool for realizing any objective or goal set by individuals, so it remains a vital force for any individual or organization. A set of information required by an information user to make the right decisions when confronted with an issue at any given time is referred to as information need. Undergraduate students' information need ought to be identified so that libraries and information providers can redirect and improve their services to meet their information need. The purpose of this paper is to look into the educational information needs of undergraduate music students at public universities in southern Nigeria. For this study, a descriptive survey design was used, with a researcher-developed questionnaire distributed to 250 undergraduate music students. Results show that there was no statistically significant mean difference in the educational information need of male and female undergraduate music students at the universities studied. Additionally, this study revealed a non-statistically significant difference in the educational information need of undergraduate music students in first-two years and final years of study. The findings of this study indicate that information on all courses taught in the department and musical instruments mastery were the most frequently requested by undergraduate music students, at 98.8 percent and 80 percent respectively. These findings will be useful to librarians in identifying the educational information required by undergraduate music students and improving information sources to meet these students' educational information need. Globally, higher institutions of learning are embracing information resources because of its support for teaching and learning in the new e-learning academic environment. National Open Universities have also embraced digital library through various national and international initiatives. This study examined access and utilization of information resources by distance learners in North-West Study Centers' libraries of National Open University of Nigeria. The study was guided by five research questions. A Survey research design was adopted for the study with a target population of 12,614 and representative sample size of 936 using purposive sampling technique in the three Study Centres with functional library facilities namely: Kaduna, Kano, and Katsina. Questionnaire was the main instrument used in collecting data for this research. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics of frequency counts and percentages scores. Among the findings of the study it was revealed that: the major types of information resources available to distance learners were: past students projects, thesis/dissertations, course materials, past question papers, text books, eresources among others, that information resources were accessible mostly by visiting the libraries. There was a strong correlation between accessibility and utilization among the three centers under study (r = 0.858 at 0.001<0.05). There was a significant correlation between accessibility and utilization among the programme level in the study centers. The result shows that r = 0.856 at 0.001<0.024. It was recommended that library should focus on providing adequate resources to make regular library users access more current and relevant information resources and services across all the regional study Centres to meet the information needs of DLs. School Resource Centers (SRCs) are also known as School libraries serve as a catalyst that encourages students to read by providing high-quality information resources, both printed and non-printed. However, previous studies found that SRCs need to align their roles with 21st century learning, to cope with digital era and to help students to develop lifelong learning. Therefore, this paper aims to investigate the relationship between the roles of SRCs and student civilization in the education setting. This research applied the quantitative approach with online survey distributed using Google Form to collect data from respondents. The overall mean shows that the respondents agreed on all variables measured with the SRCs environment had the highest mean value of 4.4033, followed by SRCs collections. Further analysis show that SRCs collection, SRCs program, technology, SRCs environment and their LMT assistance toward student civilization are significantly determine relationship with student civilization. It is hope that 21st century SRCs would aid Malaysia's education reform and the development of civilization amongst students by reinventing the cultures of reading and knowledge practice in schools, encouraging students to take greater responsibility on their education, and preparing them for the information and digital age. The study investigates the mutilation of information resources in University libraries in Abuja. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The population of the study comprises 244 library staff made up of professionals and non-professionals in Universities in Abuja. Because the population was small and manageable, all the 244 library staff were used for the study. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire titled "Mutilation of Information Resources Questionnaire" (MIQ). The questionnaire was validated by experts. The reliability of the questionnaire was established using Cronbach Alpha method and a reliability coefficient of 0.81 was obtained. Data were collected and analyzed using Frequency, Percentages, Means and Standard Deviations. Findings of the study revealed that, journals, textbooks, magazines, newspapers, projects/theses/dissertations, government publications, term papers, compact discs, CD-ROMs and audio-visual materials were the information resources affected by mutilation. It was also revealed that the forms of mutilation of library resources include, tearing of pages of books/journals, underlining of texts/journal, highlighting pages of textbooks/journals, bending spines of textbooks and journals, using of wet hands to turn pages of books/journals, cracking of CDs, marking of books/journals with biros, shading of books/journals with pencils, ear-dogging pages of books/journals and making comments on pages of books/journals. Further, it was revealed that the causes of mutilation of library resources in universities in Abuja include, poverty/financial constraints among users, high cost of photocopying library resources, insufficient library opening hours, ignorance of impact on the users, inadequate loan period, low quality of library services, frustration with library services on the part of users, lack of power supply, high cost of books, lack of security men at the reading section and inadequate close circuit cameras in the library. The study concludes that, plethora of information resources in university libraries in Abuja are prone to mutilation. Recommendation were made that, the cost of photocopying information materials in the libraries should be subsidized by Universities to enable easy access to information materials by library users as this can help in curbing the issue of mutilation; mutilators should be subjected to heavy and well defined penalties such as withdrawal of library card to serve as deterrent to other users and libraries should adopt the use of new technologies such as Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) to solve some of the problems caused by mutilation of library resources among others. The study aimed to determine the information resources provided to remote clients by the distance education academic libraries in Gauteng Province of South Africa during the COVID-19 pandemic. The positivism research paradigm anchored this paper and used the quantitative research approach. Microsoft Form was used to design the questionnaire to collect data from the academic library staff. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) was used for data analysis. Cluster sampling was adopted as the actual number of the target population was not known. The findings revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic brought changes in the provision of information resources to remote clients in academic libraries in a distance education environment in the Gauteng province of South Africa; therefore, adaptation is essential for advancement in academic libraries operating in the distance education environment. Automation of libraries is designed to replace traditional libraries with its numerous challenges, specifically for public libraries in Ghana. This study was conducted by reviewing different papers on prospects and challenges of library automation globally and specifically narrowed to Ghana. From the study, it was revealed that the main problems of automating libraries have been categorised under four main headings which are; No automation problem, pre automation problem, automation problem, and post automation problem. Other problems revealed were poor construction of databases, lack of provision of information literacy education among patrons, poor usage of online information resources among others. The study further sought to identify the potential benefits of automating public libraries in Ghana which were the availability of more resources to patrons, deployment of inventory libraries, reduce manual labor, and increased rate of patron’s access to catalogs. The main purpose of this paper is to examine online library resources during the COVID-19 pandemic situation at higher educational institutions in Pakistan. During the current pandemic situations, all the educational activities have been postponed and transformed into online latterly. A cross-sectional study consisting of a sample of 2378 from library patrons of public sector universities in Pakistan. A structured questionnaire has been administered based on different parts using an attitudinal scale of (dis)agreement has been used and pre-tested randomly with the reliability value ranging from .03 to .842. It is pertinent here to mention that during the COVID-19 pandemic, all the educational activities were shifted to online mode and it was not possible to collect information physically. Hence, an online method was opted and the questionnaire was shared through emails and WhatsApp numbers of public sector university library users. The study findings reveal that COVID-19 outbreak, fear of infection, and social distancing have favorable effects on online library information resources. Similarly, the results also support the argument that accessibility of manuscripts, accessibility of periodicals, and accessibility of books have favorable effects on online library resources. The purpose of this paper was to review related literature on Community Service Programme and the involvement of librarians in such initiatives, with a focus on the University of Port Harcourt. This review was also undertaken to establish a link between the Community Service Programme and purposeful librarianship. Related literature was reviewed on the involvement of academic librarians in Community Service Programme in Universities with a focus on University of Port Harcourt Community Service Programme. It was observed that Community Service Programmes play an essential role in linking students with host communities and provide opportunities and prospects for the development of entrepreneurial skills. This paper highlighted the benefits of community service activities to all the stakeholders. It also exposed the problem of noninvolvement of librarians in community service initiatives. This problem is more pronounced in Nigeria where librarians of all categories are not involved. It was, therefore, recommended that librarians should be actively involved in the design and implementation of the Community Service Programme in universities. In order to bridge the gap between town and gown, this paper also recommends the establishment of a functional Community Information Resource Centre with a library. This paper analyzes the information seeking behaviour of engineering faculty members of selected engineering colleges in Ryalaseema Region of AnadhraPradesh. Data were collected by using questionnaire from 41 engineering colleges in Rayalaseema Region. A structured questionnaire was distributed among 1230 faculty members, of whom 968 (78.69%) responded. Digital Object Identifier (DOI) has been internationally recognized as a standard for identifying information resources on the web. It is an advanced tool that provides unique identification or permanent links to find specific journal articles and other information resources online. This paper discusses digital object identifier and their use in accessing online scholarly materials in Africa. It looks at the extent of Uniform Resource Locators (URL), understanding DOI functionalities, and benefits of DOI, scholarly materials with DOI in Africa with a critical examination of African Online Journals (AJOL) which is the biggest database in Africa. It was therefore discovered that the use and application of DOI in accessing online scholarly materials of African origin is still at crawling stage. The study recommends that the publishers in Africa should take advantage of this development by doing the needful and emulate those journals in African Online Journals (AJOL) to register their publications for DOI. The paper examined the strategies used for marketing of information resources and services in medical libraries of public universities in the North-western geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The main objectives of the study is to identify the major strategies used in marketing of information resources and services and how to enhance the existing marketing strategies for optimum use of information resources and services.An explanatory sequential mixed methods research was used for the study. The study involved medical libraries of four public universities in the zone under study. A sample of 365 number of students and 4 number of heads of the medical libraries were chosen for the study. Questionnaire, interviews and observation were used as instruments for data collection. SPSS and Nvivo software were used to analysed the quantitative and the qualitative data collected. The findingd reveales that the major strategies used include advertisement, notice boards, use of social media, use of posters and pamphlets, exhibition and display, user oreintation program and user education. Others were seminars and workshops, SDI, CAS and handbook.The challenges surrounding the libraries' strategies in marketing the information resources and services were the absence of adequate funding and lack of sufficient facilities that will facilitate marketing the information resources and services, among others. Therefore, it is recommended that there is the need for a policy to guides the strategies in use, adequate training should be given to library staff. This paper sought to determine the provision of alternative formats of information resources for inclusive library services of visually impaired primary school pupils in Southeast Nigeria. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The population of the study was 129 respondents, comprising of 125 visually impaired pupils and four librarians from the four special education centres in Southeast Nigeria. One research question guided the study. Two instruments were used for data collection which includes an observation checklist, and interview guide. Data collected with the checklist were analyzed using frequency counts, while those from interviews were analyzed qualitatively and integrated into the discussion of findings. The findings showed that alternative formats of information resources such as Braille textbooks and audio collections were not provided in many subjects in the libraries under study. Braille textbooks in almost all the subjects taught in the schools, including core subjects like English language and mathematics were not available. Even the ones available were old editions of textbooks. Also, it was revealed that other information resources except storybooks were scantly provided in alternative formats. Hence, the study concluded that the provision of alternative formats of information resources in special education centre libraries in Southeast Nigeria is inadequate. Based on the findings, it was recommended among others that the government should have a written policy statement on the provision of alternative formats of information resources for the visually impaired so that it will serve as a guide for the provision of information resources to special education centres, in order to ensure inclusive library services for the visually impaired. Purpose: A number of models have been designed from time to time globally by various authors and researchers relevant to information needs and seeking behavior of users in various academic institutions. The paper explores, introduces and discusses various information seeking models and explains various elements of each model with an aim to design a model showing the information seeking behavior of Research Scholars in Universities of Kashmir. Design/methodology/approach: Various online resources like database, research articles and other web tools were accessed to retrieve relevant information related to the select models. To explore the information seeking behavior of Research Scholars, a total of 200 scholars were selected from University of Kashmir using stratified random sampling. Besides, a well-designed questionnaire was used as a data gathering tool and was personally distributed among all the scholars pursuing research degree in university of Kashmir to examine their information seeking behavior. Findings: The main findings of the study are presented in the form of a model which reveals that the information seeking behavior of scholars is greatly influenced by the introduction of Information Technology in the university libraries. There is a transformation from the traditional way of seeking information by scholars towards the tech savvy mode. Some of the findings of the study includes that Research Scholars mainly use Laptops as compared to desktops for seeking their desired information. Internet and Newspapers are mostly to get updated with the latest information related to their research. The study also reveals that research scholars face a number of barriers while accessing the needed information from the electronic resources including slow internet connectivity, electricity disruption, limited internet access time provided by authorities. The focus of this paper is to study the usage of social networking sites by the Karnatakites for finding information regarding COVID-19. A web survey was distributed among the targeted participants to collect data for the study. The study findings reported that cent percent of the participants were users of social networking sites in whichWhatsApp, YouTube, and Facebook were the most used SNSs for finding information regarding the COVID-19. The respondents used SNSs mainly to search for information regarding the status of COVID-19 in India as well as at the global level. Most of the respondents (48.8%) agreed that the information available on SNSs regarding COVID-19was informative and up to date. The study also reported that the majority of respondents found the use of social networking sites satisfiable in finding vital information regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. The study is first of its kind to explore the use of SNSs among the Karnatakites for finding information regarding the COVID-19 outbreak. Introduction: This paper aims to develop a Scientific Information Exchange General Model at Digital Library in Context of Internet of things, which would enable automated and efficient library services. To accomplish its objective, the main classes (Concepts), sub-classes, attributes are identified in order to introduce an appropriate model. Methodology: The approach of this study is basic, exploratory, and developmental and is run through a mixed method consisting of documentary, Delphi, and data modeling methods. The study population in the documentary section includes the study of information resources retrieved in related subjects. The study population in the Delphi section is consist of 15 experts in "Internet of Things" and "digital library" domains. The Data gathering procedure is by applying a semi-structured interview. Appropriate software is applied for the analysis. Results: The findings showed that the 9 main classes of "End user", "librarian", "Microcomputer", "Digital library server", "Automated information services", "Physical resources", "Virtual resources", "Information resources on the digital library server (virtual object)", and "Security" in general model of scientific information exchange are very contributive. In general, 27 sub-classes and 38 attributes are identified for the main classes for this purpose. In this model, how the classes communicate and interact with one another is illustrated to justify this theme. Conclusion: Here it is deduced that focusing on data protection at two levels of user and server in the main class of security is very important. Focusing on information resources metadata in the entity class, and device to device communication in this model is of essence as well. This proposed model is contributive in information networking in Internet of things-based library systems in providing better services to users. Background: This paper investigates the role of information literacy skills on use of information resources by medical students in Lagos state. Objectives: Find out the types of information resources available, level of availability and the skills for accessing them, level of information resources used, is there a significant relationship between information literacy skills and use of information resources. The paper was on use of electronic security systems in the security of information resources in Federal University Libraries in Southern Nigeria. This study adopted descriptive survey research design. The population comprised of one hundred and eleven (111) academic Librarians drawn from the Seven University Libraries that use the electronic security systems. The Universities are University of Benin, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, University of Portharcourt, Federal University of Technology, Akure, University of Lagos, Federal University of Agriculture, Umudike and University of Nigeria, Nsukka. The instruments used for the data collection were observation checklist and structured questionnaire. The data obtained were analyzed using Descriptive statistics. The major findings include that the available electronic security systems in these libraries are not in regular use while in University of Nigeria Nsukka, their available electronic security systems are no longer in use. The findings also revealed that RFID (Radio Frequency Identification System) is not in use in any of these Federal University Libraries. This paper aimed to determine the information needs and information seeking behavior of beads producers in the Eastern Region of Ghana. It also looked at the sources of information available to the beads producers, as well as the problems they encountered when searching for information about their work. The study employed qualitative research methods. Data was triangulated through interview, observation and focus group discussions. One hundred and sixty three (163) beads producers participated in the study, The findings of the study revealed that the main knowledge gaps of the bead producers were related to their work, and these were registration of their designs, branding of their beads, marketing of their beads, copyright and health issues. The beads producers mainly sought information through their immediate family members and neighbours/friends, radio, television, NGOs, and individual beads sellers/exporters. The study recommends among other things the need for community radio stations, especially state owned radio and the information centres in the local communities to consciously develop and broadcast programmes to disseminate information that are relevant to the bead producers in their local language. This study is aimed at examining the information needs of the wheelchair users in Oyo State Public Library, Ibadan, Nigeria. A Survey research design was adopted. Four objectives were set for the study and the interview was used to elicit information from respondents. Findings showed that (81%) were male while (19%) were female. Findings also reveal that the information needs of wheelchair users covered education (95%), recreational (86%), social/personal (72%), security/government policies programmes (70%), health (67%), politics (63%) and (21%) others information. The study revealed that Internet (79%) and (72%) library topped the highest ways of meeting the information needs. Also, (63%) wheelchair users visit the library every day while (16%) visit the library once in two days whereas (12%) visit the library about three times in a week and (9%) visit the library occasionally. The study showed that (60%) found the information resources inadequate in meeting their needs. Problems confronting wheelchair user's information needs include, inadequate entrance (100%) and lack architectural design (95%), (74%) inadequate orientation/lack of chairs with sturdy armrests, (72%) inability to retrieve books/social discrimination, (67%) poor concentration/inadequate facilities, (51%) staff attitude is discouraging, (40%) inadequate relevant materials and (7%) others. The paper concludes that the government of Nigeria need to articulate policies to remove the barriers faced by the less privileged among us. Institutional Repositories (IRs) are established mainly to provide access to information resources which are otherwise not easily accessible in digital format. Many institutions across the world and particularly in India have successfully developed their own IRs but have not attempted to assess their importance and impact on the Users. This study conveys the findings of the survey conducted at research centric CSIR (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research) laboratories of India to determine the scientists' and research scholars' preference for publishing their research materials; to measure the impact of IRs on their scholarly practices and to recommend future changes for inviting more participation in an IR. The study deduced that 'Peer- Review scholarly Journals' are preferred medium for publishing research content and 'Increase in the access to grey literature' is the most significant impact of IR on respondents. The findings of this research paper provide insight to the IR managers and administrators of low-deposit and low-usage repositories about the contributors' apprehensions.
