NIAB recommended list of grass and herbage legumes for the year 2003 includes four new ryegrasses, two new Timothy varieties and two white clovers, in addition to many other classification changes. NIAB grass specialist Steven Bentley says 39 varieties have had performance trials, funded by merchants in the NIAB Grass Levy Scheme. Makuri, a variety of white clover, showed good yields and autumn ground cover for a large leaf clover variety. NIAB will be exhibiting grass variety plots at Seale Hayne in Devon, England, on May 9, 2003 and at Headley Hall in Yorkshire, England, on Thursday, May 15.
