This paper proposes a data-driven H
∞ approach to simultaneous fault detection and control problem. This problem is formulated as a time domain H∞ optimization problem and its solution produces a data-driven H∞ controller/detector unit of modest complexity which is capable of achieving some control and fault detection objectives. The mathematical model is assumed to be unknown and only input/output data are used for controller/detector designing. The tradeoff between these objectives is established by tuning a scalar parameter and some weighting matrices. An easily implementable algorithm summarizes the methodology presented in the paper. The proposed algorithm is applied to a numerical example in order to illustrate its effectiveness. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published
