This article deals with the understanding that older women in Cafam Day Center (Centro Dia Cafam) of Bogotá have of their spirituality and its function in their lives. It is the result of a field investigation in which theology and nursing teachers took part. The study's purpose was to offer academic elements to improve the spiritual accompaniment of older women in the medical environment and in geriatric pastoral work. Studies of this nature underline the description of the spiritual experience of the older individual, but ignore the analysis of the spiritual quality that rules the lives of these persons. Our study analyzes the types of divine representation that support the spiritual universe of older women who attend the Cafam Day Center, the types of spirituality derived from such representations and the spiritual risks inherent to a situation in which gods and spirituality merge into a retributive dynamic of fear and obedience. The study bases itself on the theoretical dynamics of the transcendental anthropological method whose premise states that the human being is able to have a deep inner experience of God's reality, a transcendental experience that takes place with no other mediation than ourselves, while God's reality takes place in an act of self-communication. Objective: this paper focused on: (i) developing a deterioration model based on support vector machines (SVM) from its regression approach to separate the prediction of the structural condition of sewer pipes from a classification by grades and predict the scores obtained by failures found in CCTV inspections; and (ii) comparing the prediction results of the proposed model with the ones obtained by a deterioration model based on SVM classification tasks to explore the advantages and disadvantages of their predictions from different perspectives. Materials and methods: The sewer network of Bogota wasthe case study for this work in which a dataset consisting of the characteristics of 5031 pipes inspected by CCTV (obtained by GIS) was considered, as well as information on external variables (e.g., age, sewerage, and road type). Probability density functions (PDF) were used to convert the scores given by failures found in CCTV into structural grades. In addition, three techniques were used to evaluate the predictions from different perspectives: positive likelihood rate (PLR), performance curve and deviation analysis. Results: it was found that: (i) SVM-based deterioration model used from its regression approach is suitable to predict critical structural conditions of uninspected sewer pipes because this model showed a PLR value around 6.8 (the highest value among the predictions of all structural conditions for both models) and 74 % of successful predictions for the first 100 pipes with the highest probability of being in critical conditions; and (ii) SVM-based deterioration model used from its classification approach is suitable to predict other structural conditions because this model showed homogeneous PLR values for the prediction of all structural conditions (PLR values between 1.67 and 3.88) and deviation analysis results for all structural conditions are lower than the ones for the SVM-based model from its regression approach. Objective: An analysis of the air quality of Bogotá by identifying clouds during the period from 2013-2017 and verifying patterns of behavior between cloud formation and the concentration of particulate matter is presented. Materials and methods: The study sample includes data provided by the Bogotá Air Quality Monitoring Network (RMCAB), taking into account the concentration of particulate matter, temperature, precipitation, wind direction and wind speed. The data are compared with Landsat 8 satellite images and different combinations of spectral bands through the use of the Geographic Information System (GIS) ArcGis. Results and discussion: A high model correlation is reflected in a percentage greater than 90%, presenting a greater coincidence with a periodicity of two years during the dry period; it is possible to observe that the concentration of pollutants follows the trend of the wind vector lines, and the concentration has a direct correlation with cloud formation, which is influenced by temperature, wind speed and wind direction. Around the world, healthcare organizations have had to accommodate to national and international regulations governing work and health. This process has been accompanied by the introduction of knowledge and practices coming from social and administrative sciences. In this encounter between the liberal reforms and the particular ways of managing the workforce, the circulating meanings play an important role because, to a large extent, the agendas, programs and interventions geared to towards workforce management depend on these circulating meanings to succeed. In this paper, meanings about work, worker, organization, human resources management and hiring that are currently circulating in a human resources department of a university hospital in Bogotá, Colombia, are presented. Rainwater collection for domestic uses represents an interesting practice from the economical and environmental point of view. However, this solution is adopted due to the threat of the scarcity of water resources; it is not neutral from a sanitary perspective. This paper presents an analysis of the economical and technical viability of the its use as an alternative for irrigation purposes, as well as cleaning of facades and hard areas in the campus of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Bogota, Colombia). Three main aspects are developed in the paper: (i) estimation of the available rainwater volumes and the possible collection points; (ii) preliminary quality analysis of the collected rainwater; (iii) estimation of the construction costs for the basic infrastructure required to collect rainwater and estimation of the monetary savings obtained with the proposed solution. The results suggest that the use of rainwater is economically and technically viable, and that it may contribute with a sustainable management and development of the University's campus. This paper examines the acceptability of the implementation of a High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane in the north of Bogota (Colombia), a strategy that is compatible with the policies of the mobility master plan of the city. Although the idea of using HOV lanes dates back to the 70's, it is still a valid alternative which is widely documented that produces positive impacts on travel times, accident rates, greenhouse emissions, among others. The study is based on discrete choice survey experiments which allowed calibrating a multinomial logit model. The calibrated model indicated that the acceptability of the HOV lane is very sensitive to travel times experienced by current car users. The model also identified the segment of the population with the highest acceptability for the proposal, which would consist of women over 31 years old, who travel for purposes related to work. This paper describes the collective logic present in the public transport in Bogotá which established a qualitative study using the method of problematizing recursive. It was found that the logic is established based on complicity pacts. This practice has a bimodal character between drivers and people. This paper develops a reflection on the elements that concurred in the late nineteenth century in Bogotá to form the notion of aesthetic canon. For the analysis of documentary sources we will refer to two illustrated publications: El Papel Periódico Ilustrado (Illustrated Newspaper), managed by Alberto Urdaneta, and the Revista Ilustrada (Illustrated Magazine), managed by Pedro Carlos Manrique. Such publications define themselves as platforms for the formation of taste and, within a set of political, religious and cultural conditions, allow us to see new processes in the formalisation of specialised culture through institutions such as the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes (National School of Fine Arts). The contribution of these illustrated publications becomes a reference to what will be the relation between art critique and the public, formulating notions of aesthetic appreciation and taste that we understand as programmatic in a project of civilisation. This paper describes the use of the stated-preference technique in a discrete choice experiment carried out to examine the behavior of car users concerning changes in parking costs in the central business district of Bogotá. The research seeks to determine the level of elasticity between parking costs and car use for work trips. First, the area of interest is selected, bearing in mind compatibility with other studies. Then, the experiment is designed taking into account variables such as costs, commuting time, parking time and walking distance from the parking lot to the workplace. A multinomial logit model is used in order to determine elasticity between the parking cost and the use of the car, and to experiment with the variables included in the model. The model shows that the elasticity between parking costs and car use is -0.13496, which is considered low when compared to international standards. However, the model indicates high sensitivity on the part of car users with respect to walking distances. This paper intends to provide an analytical framework on relevant aspects derived from the present research, which intended to explore and understand demobilized youth's subjectivity shifts, and the way some educational programs addressed to that community are coming to terms with them, as a part of those groups' process of return to civilian life. By the same token, a number of pedagogical reflections born from the educational experiences studied are brought into focus. This paper presents results from two research projects aimed at inquiring about socioeconomic stratification in Bogota from the perspective of its value as representation of social order and hierarchy. Although socioeconomic stratification was implemented as a targeting mechanism of subsidies for the poorest households with the objective to enable them to have domiciliary potable water, electricity, sewer, gas and telephone, the policy has deeply affected the way social differences are collectively evoked. Research results from projects conducted in Bogota between 2005 and 2007, based on a variety of sources and methods, are approached with a view on social representations as a group of ideas and practices that are collectively shared and socially generated. It determines the main theories that have served as a basis for research in this discipline and profiles the practical trends in human resource management as well as the academic debate at hand. It also highlights findings on how important persons are for building a sustained competitive advantage and how important the human resource management area is for obtaining organizational capabilities. A specific form of social mobility, spatial mobility, is examined in this paper. Likewise, social representations by residents of different social strata are analyzed. The research project that the current results are based upon, deals with the effects of the stratification policy on paying public utilities and with social mobility. Spatial mobility patterns towards and within Bogotá are reviewed, as well as the way its inhabitants move around in the city by socioeconomic stratum. The aim of this paper is identify the main reasons for which the providers of health services in Bogotá outsource some of their services. The framework that supports the study is based on the central concept of developing core competences in the provision of services. The empirical component of the study involved 35 providers, public and private, of various levels of complexity. The main result is that the main reason for which hospitals use outsourcing is to reduce costs, and the second reason is the advantage that specialized firms have in certain areas.
