Introduction/objective: The paper sought to identify the predictor variables of changes in habits and behaviours of responsible consumption in students of Pedagogy of History and Geography in the city of Temuco, Chile. Method: The sample comprised of 110 students divided into an experimental (n = 68) and a control (n = 42) group. Pre-and post-intervention measurements were considered, within the framework of a pilot financial education programme for students of Pedagogy of History and Geography. Analyses included Multilevel Mixed Effects Analyses, which evaluated the predicting power of attitudes towards purchasing, materialism, self-discrepancy and levels of financial literacy regarding behavioural change in responsible consumption. Results: The results set forth rationality (a subscale of attitudes toward purchasing), and centrality (a subscale of materialism) as significant predictors of behavioural changes in purchasing. Este artículo propone identificar la relación entre la preferencia hacia uno de dos tipos de justicia (retributiva y restaurativa) y el nivel de competencia moral en estudiantes universitarios. Se trabajó con una muestra por conveniencia de 120 estudiantes de psicología (93 mujeres y 27 hombres) de 16 a 46 años de edad (M = 19.53, DE = 3.17). Se diseñó y validó la Escala de Preferencia hacia la Justicia Restaurativa/Retributiva, y se aplicó el Test de Juicio Moral. Los resultados muestran que los estudiantes presentan una preferencia por la justicia restaurativa, a la vez que evidencian niveles bajos a medios en su competencia moral. Se obtuvo una correlación estadísticamente significativa entre nivel de competencia moral y la preferencia hacia la justicia tanto restaurativa como retributiva para solo uno de los dilemas morales analizados (médico vs. trabajador). Se discuten los resultados asumiendo que el tipo de evento transgresor analizado afecta de forma significativa el índice de competencia moral y la preferencia hacia un tipo de justicia específico. La preferencia tiende hacia la justicia restaurativa con respecto a la justicia retributiva; esta preferencia no se ve influenciada por el sexo o haber sido víctima de un delito. In this paper, we aim to identify the relationship between the preference towards one of two types of justice (retributive justice and restorative justice) and the level of moral competence in university students. A convenience sample of 120 Psychology students (93 women and 27 men) aged 16-46 (M=19.53, SD=3.17) participated in this correlational design. The "Preference Scale Towards Restorative/Retributive Justice" was designed and validated and the "Moral Judgement Test" was applied. Results suggest that most students lean towards restorative justice and have low to medium levels of moral competence. We found a positive and statistically significant correlation between moral competence and preference for restorative and retributive justice for one of the analyzed dilemmas (doctor vs. worker). Results are discussed assuming that the type of transgressing event significantly affects moral competence index and favorability toward a specific type of justice. Given the high rates of mental health problems within the general population and, particularly, the university population, the main goal of this paper is to determine the prevalence of symptoms related to mental health in students at the University Austral de Chile between 2015 and 2017. A convenience sample was taken with a non-experimental correlational design of a transversal character. The final samples were composed of 1631 students in the year 2015, 1518 in 2016 and 1707 in 2017. The Instruments used measured depression, anxiety, stress, hopelessness, alimentary restraint, and functional social support. Reliability analysis, descriptive and polynomial contrast analysis which searched for linear and quadratic trends through ANOVA were perform. The results indicate a sustained rise in the percentages of symptomologies and a decline in the perception of social support. There are also statistically significant differences between men and women surveyed, with women showing more symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress over the three years studied. The results are concurrent with findings on a global level concerning the prevalence of mental health problems in university students. This paper undertook to apply the UWES-S scale to the individuals training as teachers, and to study the inference of sociodemographic and personal variables with their commitment in their studies. Material and method: This is an instrumental and empirical research wherein we utilized the Spanish version of the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale-UWES-S, which evaluates the degree of individual commitment inherent in the activity performed. This survey contains 17 items under a Likert scale of 5 positions. We utilized three statistical software programs: SPSS.22, Factor.10, MPlus.7, and G*Pwer 3.1.9.2. 373 Education Undergraduate students (n=196 of Primary, n=85 of Preschool) and n=92 students under the Master Degree in Secondary Education partook in this study. Say students appertained to two Universities of north and south of Spain, and a University of Chile. After analyzing the results and the discussion, we have concluded that there are significant differences in the personal variables, both in the social demographical character and the geographical location of the Universities. In addition, the female students, and students from southern Spain and Latin America, are more committed to their studies as compared to students from the North of Spain. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Multidimensional Student's Life Satisfaction Scale is an instrument to assess life satisfaction in children and adolescents in five life domains. However, research on multidimensional life satisfaction in older students, such as those attending university, is still scarce. This paper undertook to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Multidimensional Student's Life Satisfaction Scale in a sample of university students from five state universities in Chile. The Multidimensional Student's Life Satisfaction Scale and Satisfaction with Life Scale were applied to 369 participants. Confirmatory factor analysis was used to evaluate the expected correlated five-factor model of the long version (40 items) and the abbreviated version (30 items) of the Multidimensional Student's Life Satisfaction Scale. The goodness-of-fit values obtained from confirmatory factor analysis revealed that the data fit better to the 30-items and five-factor structure than to the 40-item structure. The convergent, concurrent and discriminant validity of the 30-item version was demonstrated. The 30-item version of the Multidimensional Student's Life Satisfaction Scale may be a promising alternative to measure satisfaction in different life domains in university students and a valuable tool for differential assessments that guide research and intervention on this population. Perceived social support is a multifaceted construct conceptualized as one's cognitive appraisal as to the existence of a connection to others, based on trust, on whom one can rely on when necessary. The aim of this paper is to examine the psychometric properties of perceived social support, using the following scales: Social Support Questionnaire-short Form (SSQ6) and Social Provisions Scale (SPS), on a sample of 855 first year university students - 575 females and 280 males - enrolled in 16 professional degrees at the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain). The SSQ6 Scale assesses the dimensions of perceived support availability and satisfaction, whilst the SPS Scale assesses its social support functions. The factor analysis conducted confirms the SSQ6 Scale's twodimensional model and the SPS Scale's six-factor structure. Internal consistency of both scales is satisfactory, as is the evidence of validity obtained from the correlations between the two scales and their subscales. The results reveal that the Spanish version of the SSQ6 and SPS scales are reliable and valid measurements for assessing perceived social support amongst university students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper presents a psychometric study performing a confirmatory factor analysis of Gismero's Social Skills Scale. A background review is conducted on evaluation tools generally used for social skills, and the general characteristics of the scale are presented for the tool studied. A review is also conducted on psychometric properties of this tool. The sample consisted of 1206 college students at the Universidad Católica de Temuco, Chile. Confirmatory factor analysis was conducted using a polychoric correlation matrix, and the structure proposed by Gismero was analyzed. Reliability assessment procedures, such as internal consistency (Ordinal Alpha) and discriminant validity analysis, were also conducted using AF5 factors. The results show good internal reliability of the tool, suitability of the model to the data, and good discriminant validity. In conclusion, the Gismero's Social Skills Scale is considered as a suitable tool for assessing social skills in Chilean university students. The aim of this paper is, on the one hand, to perform the Spanish adaptation of the Networked Minds Social Presence Measure (Harms & Biocca, 2004) with 36 items, and specifically, to virtual learning environments, and on the other hand, to obtain a shortened version of it. In doing so, the scale reliability was analyzed, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyzes were performed, and also the relationship between social presence and perceived learning was studied, by means of two cross-sectional samples of university students (n = 270 and 315, respectively). Results show good instrument reliability, reproduce the original scale factor structure, and confirm a positive relationship of social presence with perceived learning. The adapted scale was reduced to 17 items. This allows us to have a shorter instrument which is adapted to the measure of social presence in virtual learning environments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Outcome deta research from international surveys on college students report that alcohol problems in colleges are an emergent health concern. This paper describes the development and evaluation of a stepped-care cognitive-behavioral motivational model for college students with alcohol problems, that includes three specific treatment programs, "BASICS", "GSC", and "SRP", which are part of the state-of-the-art cognitive-behavioral motivational treatments to address a broad spectrum of drinking problems available in centers for alcohol problems at the National Autonomous University of México. A modified version of the stepped-care approach and strategies of treatment-client matching were used to select patients for the treatment programs. This article describes the model and its programs and the initial outcome data from a study designed to evaluate its efficacy on a group of college students that address a broad spectrum of alcohol problems and its future perspectives. This paper show how four dimensions of citizenship behaviors of teachers (CBT; participatory behavior, practical orientation, conscientiousness and courtesy) explain the students' motivation, their academic achievement and the global performance score they give to their teachers. An"aggregate level of analysis was carried out, since that class scores, not individual ones, were considered. The study inserts in a research line launched in university context and more recently performed in secondary school at the individual level of analysis (Rego y Pereira, 2004). The sample comprises 80 teachers / classes, which behaviors were reported by 1201 secondary students. The main findings are the following: (a) the four dimensions explain 65% of the variance of the aggregated students' motivation, 79% of the performance score given by them to their teachers, and 13% of the variance of the classes' academic achievement; (b) the classes with better academic achievement and higher motivation are those whose teachers are strength in the four citizenship dimensions. Three cohorts of undergraduate psychology theses (n = 57) performed by last year undergraduate psychology students from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello, were monitored using 5 longitudinal measurements of progression. A Generalized Additive Model, to predict the completion time of the theses, is tested against two completion times: early and delayed. Effect size measures favor a multiple dimension model over a global progress model. The trajectory of the indicators through the 5 measurements allows the differentiation between early and delayed completion. The completion probabilities estimated by the dimensional model allow the identification of differential oscillation levels for the distinct completion times. The initial progression indicators allow the prediction of early completion with a 71% success rate, while the final measurement shows a success rate of 89%. The results support the effectiveness of the supervisory system and the analysis of the progression dynamics of the theses from a task-delay model, focused on the relationship between the amount of task completion and the deadlines.
