A province in the central China faces the problem of energy shortage, 800kV Mengxi UHVDC project will effectively broaden the energy input channels of the province, enhance energy supply security, and reduce the pressure on coal transportation. This paper analyses the load, power supply and power shortage of a central province, and explored the role of Mengxi UHVDC project played in improving the energy demand in the Central China power grid. By comparing the different access plans to the grid, this paper demonstrated that it’s more appropriate to divide the Mengxi UHVDC into 1000kV and 500kV at the inverter side for consuming the power of UHVDC and protecting the normal power supply.

Ultra-high voltage (UHV) projects are making power system growing lager and resulting in sharp increase of short circuit currents in some area especially in the vicinity of UHV access points. The paper presented the damage of short circuit current increases and common methods to limit fault current. Taking the construction and development of UHV grid in a province of central China as background, the over short circuit currents in 500kV Grid within UHV were showed and several countermeasures including choosing proper UHV access scheme, implementing UHV substation lower voltage bus partition running, installing reactors, optimizing power grid network based on UHV connection point were proposed and then verified by PSASP simulation. The results show those measures are useful to reduce the short circuit current to a reasonable level.

With the impetus of the national strategy of the Rise of Central China, we should pay more attention to the sustainable development and make big efforts to stimulate domestic demand, of which Wuhan is one of the most promising areas in central region. Transportation is not only the production sector to create material wealth but also the foundation to support the social economic operation. It plays an important role in promoting the development of specialized production and social division of labor. This paper theoretically analysis the impact of transportation on the economic development in Wuhan and explores the intrinsic interaction mechanism of transportation and economic development in Wuhan. It researches the effect of the change of transportation conditions on economic development in Wuhan and concludes the general law.

Nowadays, urbanization becomes a hot spot and the evaluation of urbanization becomes an important part of urban management. Based on the urbanization development status of central region of China, considering the indicators impact on the urbanization level and using the matter-element theory, an extension evaluation model of urbanization is set up in this paper, which is used in the comparison of urbanization level in central China. The practicality of model is verified through the case and the management measures to improve the urbanization level is proposed through analysis the correlation function, while some reference for urban development of various regions in China is offered.

With the building of Central Plains Economic Zone written on the national development strategy, a new opportunity is approaching to the development of Jiaozuo. This paper firstly expounds the overview of Jiaozuo coal mining area and the connotation of Central China Economic Zone under the Angle of Central China Economic Zone, Combines the Research of Land Reclamation and Ecological Reconstruction with Related Practice in Jiaozuo coal mining area, it goes deeply into the analysis on the research according to the positioning and requirements of Jiaozuo in the Central China Economic Zone. Study on the direction of Land Reclamation and Ecological Reconstruction in Jiaozuo coal mining area under the Angle of Central China Economic Zone, aiming to provide some theoretical reference on the Research of Mine land remediation and utilization for Resource-exhausted Cities in the time of Development Strategic Transformation.

Based on the planning data of Henan power grid in 2014, the impacts of 800kV UHVDC from Hami to Zhengzhou on static voltage stability of Henan power grid are analyzed in details. Firstly, this paper introduces the principle of voltage stability analysis, the stability margin index has been established. Secondly, the analysis of static voltage stability for Henan power grid before and after the UHVDC from Hami to Zhengzhou putting into operation is carried out, the weak buses and regions in Henan power grid are pointed out. Finally, the operation patterns of Henan power grid after the UHVDC putting into operation are classified and optimized. Simulation results show that the improper operation pattern may significantly deteriorate the static voltage stability of power grid. The operation patterns of HVDC power multi-channel transferring from Henan to Central China grid combined with partly internal consumption are favorable to improve the static voltage stability of the whole system. The analysis results provide theoretical basis for the future operation of Henan grid.

This paper aims to evaluate the optimum tilt angle of PV modules on louvered PV façade in Changsha - a city located at middle and low latitude, and representative cloudy climate conditions in Central China. Within these climate conditions, this research discusses the influences of external and internal factors on photoelectric conversion efficiency and shading effect of louvered PV façade. The research result shows that the external and internal design factors of louvered PV façade take opposite effects on the louver tilt angle. To ensure the safe operation of the grid and take interest of each control area into account, it is very important to consider what criteria should be used to assess interconnected power systems. In this paper, referring to the CPS criteria proposed by NERC and standards of China's Central China Power Grid CPS assessment, combining with the actual grid of Hubei Province, a criteria for power generation performance assessment and analyses the impact on the economic interests of the Hubei Provincial Power Company are proposed. Meanwhile, deep study has been done on the impact of optimal scheduling of real-time balance when CPS is executed.

Wuhan"1+8" city cluster area has brought unprecedented opportunities and challenges to sustainable development by a comprehensive reform in a special resource-saving and environment-friendly society policy. The ddevelopment of Wuhan"1+8" city cluster area not only benefit the development of Hubei Province, but will also have a positive impact on the surrounding provinces such as Hunan, Henan, Jiangxi, and Shanxi. This paper discusses the opportunities and challenges of sustainable development in Wuhan"1+8" city cluster area from several perspectives and provides some suggestions and policies for the sustainable development in Wuhan"1+8" city cluster area

Regional tourism cooperation is the result of a relatively developed tourism and the inevitable choice of implementing the strategy of leap-forward development. The implementation of the strategy of rise of “Central China” provides a rare opportunity for the development of regional tourism cooperation in central region. The paper makes a comprehensive analysis of current development of Hubei tourism, put forwards the idea and hierarchical model of regional tourism cooperation in Hubei in the new era in light of strengthening regional cooperation, and points out the direction for Hubei tourism development.

China has seen large area of fog and haze weather which often lasted for a long time in different places of its central and eastern part during the year 2013. What’s more, North China, Central China, Huang-Huai area and the south part of the Yangtze River all suffered pollution to some degree. As a result, fog and haze and the serious pollution of PM2.5 became the hot topics both on the micro blog and among neighbors. Therefore, it has been a common recognition that we should strengthen the management of air pollution and reflect the economic development mode and our lifestyle. A brief analysis of the impact of fog and haze on the environment together with some control recommendations is done in this paper.
