Understanding the peer review process could help research and shed light on the mechanisms that underlie crowdsourcing. In this paper, we present an agent-based model of peer review built on three entities - the paper, the scientist and the conference. The system is implemented on a BDI platform (Jason) that allows to define a rich model of scoring, evaluating and selecting papers for conferences. Then, we propose a programme committee update mechanism based on disagreement control that is able to remove reviewers applying a strategy aimed to prevent papers better than their own to be accepted ("rational cheating"). We analyze a homogeneous scenario, where all conferences aim to the same level of quality, and a heterogeneous scenario, in which conferences request different qualities, showing how this affects the update mechanism proposed. We also present a first step toward an empirical validation of our model that compares the amount of disagreements found in real conferences with that obtained in our simulations. The detection of emerging technologies is vital for R&D managers and policymakers; hence, the bibliometric approach to analyzing papers and patents was developed. In this study, we proposed a new method, the research classification schema (RCS). We used citation network analysis to classify technologies into four categories: change-maker, breakthrough, matured, and incremental. Each technology is then plotted on the RCS based on its publication profile. A case study in the field of antennas was undertaken to evaluate the relevance and effectiveness of the RCS. The RCS method demonstrates the usefulness of the identification process of promising technologies, and therefore, the convenience of target designing research projects in universities and companies. In this paper, we solved a model of a well-known infectious disease called dengue fever via fractional natural decomposition and modified Predictor–Corrector (PC) methods. A study of the dengue epidemic in the Cape Verde Islands off the coast of West Africa in 2009 has been resumed here for a better understanding of the results. The results are obtained using Liouville–Caputo and new generalized Caputo-type fractional derivatives. The numerical simulations are presented for various orders of given derivatives. Existence and uniqueness analysis of the given problem are also performed in the new generalized Caputo sense. The explored results are verified using figures. This paper focuses on the dynamics of a submerged compound pendulum (SCP). The considered pendulum consists of a horizontal cylindrical element at its lowermost portion and a plate between the cylindrical element and the pivot. An approximate analytical expression for the natural frequency of the submerged compound pendulum is proposed. Further, a two-dimensional (2D) numerical model of the pendulum is developed using ANSYS (FLUENT). The natural periods of the SCP are determined for different geometric configurations. The isolation technologies are adopted to protect the long-span space structures from serious damage under the action of earthquakes. When the isolation system is applied to the space structures, both horizontal and vertical vibration control effects on the structures should be concerned. In this paper, a two-dimensional earthquake isolation and mitigation device (TEIMD) composed of a high-damping viscoelastic (VE) core pad and VE dampers is proposed. Based on the dynamic shear experiment results of the VE damper, the energy dissipation capability of VE material is preferable. Then, the nonlinear equivalent stiffness and equivalent damping ratio of the TEIMD in horizontal and vertical directions are evaluated by using the numerical simulation method. The TEIMDs are arranged on the column top of a double-layer grid structure to assess the isolation effectiveness of the novel device. The dynamic analysis results of the double-layer grid structure with and without TEIMD reveal that this novel device can significantly reduce the acceleration response of the upper grid by relying on the strong energy dissipation performances in the horizontal and vertical directions. This research also verifies the feasibility of applying the TEIMD to the double-layer grid structure, which can effectively dissipate the vertical vibration energy of the structure. This paper describes the novel mathematical modeling of the 3-phase induction motor, various operations and study of its dynamic behavior and regenerative braking based on the model. This model uses v/f scheme to apply braking operation with the energy flow to the supply system instead of wasting the energy in braking resistor. It discusses the theory of induction motors, which is explored through both equations and computer simulation model using SIMULINK. The model also helps to study the behavior of the motor during its starting and load variation. The results from the analysis prove the demonstration of regenerative braking and the dynamic behavior and can give an opportunity to learn the different characteristics during these conditions. At present, stochastic resonance (SR) based on Duffing and Langevin equations has been widely studied, but there is little research on SR phenomenon in higher-dimensional fractional-order systems. Based on the fractional-order Lorenz-like system, the SR phenomenon is studied from the perspective of equilibrium point in this paper. The dynamic process of SR phenomenon is presented, and several key parameters are derived. The results of numerical simulation show that the boundary of SR and chaos system will be broken if the order of the fractional-order system or internal parameters is properly adjusted, and the effect of SR phenomenon will also be influenced. This paper connects two important nonlinear phenomena (chaos and SR) based on the fractional-order system, which provides a new idea for the conversion between chaos and SR systems. In this paper, a four-dimensional chaotic system based on a flux-controlled memristor with cosine function is constructed. It has infinitely many equilibria. By changing the initial values x (0) , z (0) and u (0) of the system and keeping the parameters constant, we obtained the distribution of infinitely many single-wing and double-wing attractors along the u -coordinate, which verifies the initial-offset boosting behavior of the system. Then the complex dynamical behavior of the system is studied in detail through the phase portraits of coexisting attractors, the average value of state variables, Lyapunov exponent spectrum, bifurcation diagram, attraction basin and the complexity of spectral entropy (SE). In addition, the simulation of the Multisim circuit is also carried out, and the results of numerical simulation and analog circuit simulation are consistent. Finally, the chaotic sequence generated by the system is applied to image encryption, and according to the performance analysis, the proposed chaotic system has good security performance. Active suspension technique normally provides the best vibration mitigation performance at the cost of high-energy consumption. In contrast, the energy consumption of a semi-active suspension is normally much smaller than that of an active suspension, whereas the control performance is compromised as well. Observing the core issue that caused such a phenomenon is that the existing semi-active control force, unlike the active control force, shall always oppose to the relative motion of the actuator (i.e. clipping phenomenon). This paper subsequently proposes a novel semi-active vehicle suspension system that incorporates a passive negative stiffness (NS) spring and a semi-active damper (SD) to realize uncompromised active control force while consuming energy of a typical semi-active suspension system. In specific, the proposed system allows for decomposition of the target active control force and tracked via the collaboration of the NS and SD components. Herein, the NS element is capable of releasing the store potential energy that subsequently eases the aforementioned clipping phenomenon of a traditional semi-active suspension. In this paper, besides the relevant clarifications on the system topology and working mechanism, its feasibility and performance enhancement are also validated via systematic numerical simulations of a vehicle suspension; and the results indicate, for the first time, that the proposed semi-active suspension can fully track the active control force and subsequently achieve unprecedented control performance comparable to an active controller. The operator-splitting (OS) method for real-time substructure testing (RTST) provides explicit and unconditionally stable solutions for structures with softening type stiffness and damping has been widely used for precisely disclosing the seismic performance of structures with velocity-dependent specimens. However, the OS method for RTST provides only explicit target displacement and velocity but not an explicit target acceleration, so that it is essentially an implicit method for Dynamic real-time substructure testing (DRTST) with dynamic system specimens. For precisely disclosing the seismic performance of multiple-degree-of-freedom structures with dynamic system specimens, one improved OS method is proposed for DRTST in this paper. The methodology and stability of the proposed OS method are investigated, and the effectiveness of the proposed OS method is validated by numerical simulations and experimental tests. By using the predictor displacement, velocity, and acceleration approximations, the OS method is an explicit algorithm for DRTST. The stability analysis shows that the proposed OS method is conditionally stable for DRTST, and its stability limit decreases with the increase of the mass ratio and the stiffness ratio, while it increases first and then decreases with the increase of the damping ratio. The numerical and experimental results confirm the stability and accuracy of the OS method. The OS method for DRTST provides a practical and precise investigation strategy for structures with dynamic system specimens and may have broad application prospects in civil engineering. In this paper, a new three-dimensional chaotic system with two exponential nonlinearities is presented. The analysis of fixed points of the proposed system suggests existence of one hyperbolic index-2 spiral saddle-type fixed point. The proposed system fulfils Shilnikov criterion and nature of the chaos is found to be dissipative. Bifurcation diagrams, maximum Lyapunov exponents and Kaplan–Yorke dimension are examined through numerical simulations to investigate dynamics of proposed system. The hardware feasibility of the proposed system is illustrated through current feedback operational amplifier (CFOA)-based circuit implementation. The proposed circuit uses six CFOAs, two diodes to establish nonlinearity, eleven resistors and three capacitors. The absence of analog multiplier in the proposed circuit makes it superior to the existing counterpart in the sense that it does not require area and power-consuming active building block. To confirm the chaotic nature of the proposed circuit, LTspice simulations are done to obtain phase portraits which are found to be strange attractors and are topologically different from the shape of the existing attractors. Moreover, we have investigated the synchronization of the proposed chaotic system using adaptive control scheme and proposed CFOA-based complete circuit design of the adaptively synchronized system. Also, the effect of the tolerance of passive components and temperature on the behavior of the proposed chaotic circuit and the complete synchronization circuit has also been studied. Micro-Electro-Mechanical System (MEMS)-based pressure sensors operating on the principle of piezoresistivity have found profound application in various fields like automobile, aerospace, aviation, biomedical and consumer electronics. Various research studies have been conducted to optimize the design of MEMS-based pressure sensors to meet specific requirements of different fields. Modification in the structure of the piezoresistors placed on these sensors has shown great effect in this regard. However, most of these improvements have been validated through fabrication and measurement, but there has been a lack of significant studies developing analytical models to explain these improvements. This paper studies the performance of a single-turn piezoresistor design on a square silicon diaphragm. The analytical model relates the dimensions of the single-turn piezoresistor on a square diaphragm to the output voltage, and hence, sensor sensitivity is laid out. The correctness of the relation is also validated through Finite Element Analysis (FEA) performed using COMSOL Multiphysics software. Hence, an optimized single-turn design is presented which achieves a sensitivity of 203.57 mV/V/MPa over a pressure range of 0–1 MPa. These results are then compared to work from existing literature. The comparison shows an improved performance which was achieved by optimizing the design through its derived analytical model. This paper investigates the nonlinear dynamical behaviors of a time-delayed supercavitating vehicle system varying with the system parameters, and proposes control strategies to stabilize the trajectory. A simplified dynamical model of the supercavitating vehicle is firstly constructed and then analyzed on its local and global stability in terms of different parameter values and initial conditions. Due to the forces resulting from the fins and the afterbody plane causing one of the system parameters to become a piecewise constant function of position, the system is described as a linear switched one with time delay. Both theoretical analysis and numerical simulations are adopted to describe the system behaviors. Several special phenomena such as bifurcations, deviation behaviors and period-doubling processes emerging from the system for a given set of parameters are discussed in detail in this paper. Besides, the equilibrium and chaotic solutions are accurately located by plotting the Lyapunov exponent map. Chaotic attractors present different strange forms with the variation of the parameters. Finally, based on the system's global property, the control and anti-control strategies are proposed to stabilize the system or generate desirable chaos and it is shown that the system can be controlled by selecting appropriate control parameters. With the ongoing development and deployment of medium-low speed maglev vehicles in China, it has become common to increase operational speeds from 100 km/h up to 140 km/h or even 160 km/h, necessitating further studies and simulation models to understand the implications of these changes. This paper analyzes medium-speed maglev vehicle-track-girder coupling dynamic performance at a speed of 160 km/h. First, a field dynamics experiment is carried out on the Changsha Maglev Express with a running speed of 80–140 km/h. Then we introduce the distributed coupling simulation platform for maglev transportation system (MTS-DCSP) and the vehicle-track-girder coupling model, taking into account the complex vehicle structure, the guideway structure, and the Proportion Integral Differential (PID) levitation control system. Together, this platform and model can conduct a simulation of the complete process at scale and at all degrees of freedom to obtain accurate results. Our analysis of the results gives an accurate portrayal of the coupling dynamics properties and validates the coupling model. The results from the field experiments together with the coupling simulation demonstrate that the medium-speed maglev train can operate safely and stably within the range of 140–160 km/h. While at 140 km/h, however, the Sperling ride quality index (RQI) is about 2.5, which is within the Excellent grade range, at a speed of 160 km/h, the Sperling ride quality index can increase to as high as 2.74, which is a grade of Good. Therefore, it is necessary to optimize the parameters of the secondary suspension system to improve the ride comfort of the maglev vehicle at 160 km/h. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, we investigate the spatiotemporal dynamics of the Sel'kov–Schnakenberg system. The stability of the positive constant steady state is studied by the linear stability theory. Hopf bifurcation and Turing–Hopf bifurcation are generated by varying two parameters in the model. The normal form near the Turing–Hopf singularity is calculated to explore the complex dynamics of the system. Finally, numerical simulations are carried out to verify the theoretical results. Our results show that the Sel'kov–Schnakenberg system exhibits complex dynamics near the Turing–Hopf singularity, including the existence of inhomogeneous steady states, homogeneous periodic solutions and inhomogeneous periodic solutions. In this paper, we study a commensal model with Allee effect and herd behavior. Firstly, the stability of all possible equilibria are investigated. Secondly, using the Sotomayor's theorem, we prove the existence of saddle-node bifurcation and pitchfork bifurcation. In this paper, the second-order scalar auxiliary variable approach combined with finite difference method is employed for the Allen–Cahn equation that represents a phenomenological model for antiphase domain coarsening in a binary mixture. The second-order backward differentiation formula is used in time. The error estimation of the semi-discrete scheme is derived in the sense of L 2 -norm. With the aim of solving the detection problems for current complex event detection models in detecting a related event for a complex event from the high proportion disordered RFID event stream due to its big uncertainty arrival, an efficient complex event detection model based on Extended Nondeterministic Finite Automaton (ENFA) is proposed in this paper. The achievement of the paper rests on the fact that an efficient complex event detection model based on ENFA is presented to successfully realize the detection of a related event for a complex event from the high proportion disordered RFID event stream. Specially, in our model, we successfully use a new ENFA-based complex event detection model instead of an NFA-based complex event detection model to realize the detection of the related events for a complex event from the high proportion disordered RFID event stream by expanding the traditional NFA-based detection model, which can effectively address the problems above. The experimental results show that the proposed model in this paper outperforms some general models in saving detection time, memory consumption, detection latency and improving detection throughput for detecting a related event of a complex event from the high proportion out-of-order RFID event stream. Cellular automaton (CA) as a discrete and deterministic dynamic system has been widely used in cryptography. In this paper, a novel triple-coupling CA model is proposed. We first apply the triple-coupling model to 1D CA to design a high-quality pseudo-random number generator (PRNG). Numerical simulation and analyses show that triple-coupling CA exhibits more complex evolutionary behavior than uncoupling CA. The pseudo-random sequence generated by triple-coupling 1D CA can pass all NIST SP800-22 tests. Subsequently, the triple-coupling model is also applied to 2D CA, and a novel image encryption scheme based on this model is proposed. Thanks to the triple-coupling model, the diffusion operation can be completed between different color channels of the color image. In this paper, a size-structured population model is studied. Choosing the coefficient of birth function as the varying parameter, we prove the existence of Hopf bifurcation and discuss the bifurcation properties, such as the direction of Hopf bifurcation and the stability of bifurcated periodic solutions. The methods used in this paper include Hopf bifurcation theorem, center manifold theorem and normal form theory for the abstract Cauchy problems in a nondense domain. For high-rise buildings subjected to typhoon or earthquake actions, the excitations are likely non-stationary, which inevitably violates the stationary assumption that is generally adopted by conventional modal identification methods. Under such a condition, conventional modal identification methods may not be applicable, and their performances need to be evaluated. To this end, the performances of seven widely used modal identification algorithms for structural modal estimation under non-stationary excitations are evaluated via a numerical simulation study. Then, three methods with good performance are selected to evaluate their applicability and accuracy for field measurements involving non-stationary excitations. From the comparative study, a time–frequency domain method with the best performance among these seven methods is employed to investigate the structural dynamic properties of a 509-m-tall skyscraper under typhoon and earthquake excitations. Based on the reliable modal estimates, the relationships between the modal properties with response amplitude and environmental temperature are presented and discussed. The TPMS lattice structure is widely utilized in the military UAV, and effectively striking the TPMS structure holds significant reference value in bullet design. This paper conducts a numerical simulation to study the penetration performance of exponential curve bullets with varying power exponents on the TPMS structures of Gyroid and Diamond. MATLAB is employed to design the TPMS lattice structure, and ABAQUS is used for numerical simulation. The results indicate that the velocity reduction rate of the bullet initially increases and then decreases with an increase in power exponent. Moreover, a larger power exponent leads to a smaller residual velocity and kinetic energy of the bullet. Different cell structures have a substantial impact on residual kinetic energy, with the Gyroid structure exhibiting significantly greater residual kinetic energy compared to the Diamond structure, resulting in an average kinetic energy difference of 15.429J. The research shows that the curve of the arc part of the warhead has a great influence on the penetration performance. This paper presents the stability and bifurcation of the Hindmarsh–Rose neuronal model with time delay. First, we discuss the existence and stability of the equilibria, revealing that the system can have a maximum of three equilibria which exhibit always stable, always unstable, and stability switching dynamics, depending on the stability of the equilibria when there is no time delay. Furthermore, an explicit formula for the time delay at which Hopf bifurcation occurs is derived, and the direction and stability of the Hopf bifurcation are also given. Finally, numerical simulations are carried out to support our theoretical results. We find that due to the existence of time delay, our system can exhibit many interesting dynamical behaviors depending on the number of equilibria and the increase in time delay. For instance, with increasing time delay, bistability transitions to the coexistence of a periodic solution and a stable equilibrium, followed by the emergence of quasi-periodic motion alongside stable equilibria, and eventually leading to chaotic motion coexisting with a stable equilibrium. The investigation on vehicle–bridge interaction systems (VBIS) plays an important role in evaluating the performance of bridges and/or vehicles. However, due to the limitations of traditional simulation methods and testing methods, the impact of vehicle jumping (VJ) on the VBIS has never been precisely disclosed. In order to accurately and comprehensively reveal the impact of VJ on the dynamic performance of VBIS, one real-time hybrid simulation method (RHSM) for VBIS considering the impact of VJ (VBIS-VJ) is proposed in this paper. In the proposed method, the vehicle system is chosen as the experimental substructure loaded by servo-hydraulic actuator loading system in real-time, whilst the bridge system is chosen as the numerical substructure numerically simulated in one computer. During the vehicle jumping, the vehicle and bridge vibrate freely respectively, otherwise, the experimental substructure and numerical substructure are synchronized at the coupling points in terms of force equilibrium and deformation compatibility in RHSM for VBIS-VJ. Firstly, the principle and numerical models of RHSM for VBIS-VJ are proposed. Furthermore, numerical simulations of RHSM for VBIS-VJ are conducted for verifying the feasibility of the proposed method. Finally, the influence of jumping position, jumping height, and driving speed on the VBIS is disclosed by hybrid simulations. It is shown that compared with the ever-known investigation methods, the proposed method could economically and accurately disclose the dynamic performance of VBIS-VJ. It is shown from the simulation results that compared with the referenced results, the quantitative errors of the proposed method with quarter vehicle model and half vehicle model are less than 2.5152% and 3.5599% respectively, which prove the effectiveness and accuracy of proposed RHSM for VBIS-VJ. The peak displacement of the bridge at a quarter-span and mid-span exceeds the three-quarters span by about 1.9–2.9 mm. The influence of jumping position of a quarter span and midspan of bridge is much huger than that in the three-quarters span. The dynamic response of bridge increases with the increase the jumping height, but the deformation of the bridge is reduced when the jumping height is more than 0.05 m. Meanwhile, the requirements for experimental loading equipment are acquired through the hybrid simulations, which could be used as a reference for selecting the loading system of the RHSM for VBIS-VJ. In this paper, we study the dynamic behaviors and chaos synchronization of the Chen system described by Caputo–Hadamard fractional derivative. First, the existence and uniqueness of a solution to the Chen system with Caputo–Hadamard derivative are proved by qualitative analysis. Further, the stability of equilibria of the considered system is analyzed with the aid of Routh–Hurwitz criteria. Meanwhile, the bifurcation condition of the Caputo–Hadamard Chen system is compared with the integer-order Chen system, where the differences between the two systems are demonstrated numerically. In the study of chaos synchronization of the drive–response Chen systems with Caputo–Hadamard derivative, two control schemes are developed: three nonlinear controllers and single linear controller. The feasibility of two control schemes is verified, and the synchronization performances of these two schemes are compared by numerical simulations. In this paper, we introduce constant-yield prey harvesting into the Holling–Tanner model with generalist predator. We prove that the unique positive equilibrium is a cusp of codimension 4. As the parameter values change, the system exhibits degenerate Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation of codimension 4. Using the resultant elimination method, we show that the positive equilibrium is a weak focus of order 2, and the system undergoes degenerate Hopf bifurcation of codimension 2 and has two limit cycles. By numerical simulations, we demonstrate that the system exhibits homoclinic bifurcation and saddle–node bifurcation of limit cycles as the parameters are varied. This paper investigates a two-species amensalism model that includes the fear effect on the first species and the Beddington–DeAngelis functional response. The existence and stability of possible equilibria are investigated. Under different parameters, there exist two stable equilibria which means that this model is not always globally asymptotically stable. Together with the existence of all possible equilibria and their stability, saddle connection and close orbits, we derive some conditions for transcritical bifurcation and saddle-node bifurcation. Furthermore, global dynamics analysis of the model is performed. It is observed that under certain parameter conditions, when the intensity of the fear effect is below a certain threshold value, as the fear effect increases it will only reduce the density of the first species population and will have no influence the extinction or existence of the first species population. However, when the fear effect exceeds this threshold, the increase of the fear effect will accelerate the extinction of the first species population. This paper considers the load–deflection behavior of a pyramid-like, shallow lattice structure. It consists of four beams that join at a central apex and when subject to a lateral load, it exhibits a propensity to snap-through: a classical buckling phenomenon. Whether this structural inversion occurs, and the routes by which it happens, depends sensitively on geometry. Given the often sudden nature of the instability, the behavior is also examined within a dynamics context. The outcome of numerical simulations are favorably compared with experimental data extracted from the testing of three-dimensional (3D)-printed specimens. The key contributions of this paper are that despite the continuous nature of the physical system, its behavior (transient and equilibria) can be adequately described using a discrete model, and the paper also illustrates the utility of 3D-printing in an accessible research context. In this paper, we propose a Leslie–Gower predator–prey model with strong Allee effect on prey and fear effect on predator. We discuss the existence and local stability of equilibria by making full use of qualitative analytical theory. It is shown that the above system exhibits at most two positive equilibria and it can undergo a series of bifurcation phenomena. We indicate that the dynamical behavior of the model is closely related to the fear effect on predator. In detail, when the fear effect parameter p = p ∗ , the system will undergo degenerate Hopf bifurcation. There exist two limit cycles (the inner is stable and the outer is unstable). However, when p = p ∗ , the system will undergo degenerate Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation. Also, by numerical simulation, we conclude that the stronger the fear effect, the bigger the density of prey species. The above shows that fear effect on predator is beneficial to the persistence of the prey species. There is a problem of capacity mismatch between different companies in the current market. In this paper, we propose a dual-channel capacity sharing supply chain consisting of two competing manufacturers (i.e. a capacity seller and a capacity buyer) and one platform. Considering the gap of matching success rates, we investigate whether the buyer and seller can benefit from capacity sharing and how the different matching success rates influence the manufacturers' decisions on spontaneously match through a platform. Through numerical simulation, we find that (1) the seller can always benefit from capacity sharing even when the match fails, while the buyer benefits from capacity sharing only when the capacity constraint is relatively severe; (2) both the buyer and seller prefer to participate through the platform when the platform has a sufficiently high advantage in matching success rates; (3) if the capacity constraint is much severe, the capacity buyer may turn to self-match rather than capacity sharing. In this paper, we study one type of predator–prey model with simplified Holling type IV functional response by incorporating the fear effect into prey species. The existence and stability of all equilibria of the system are studied. And bifurcation behaviors including saddle-node bifurcation, transcritical bifurcation and Hopf bifurcation of the system are completely explored. Numerical simulation is carried out to illustrate the theoretical analysis. It is shown that the fear effect does affect some dynamic behaviors of the system. With the characteristics of high-speed transportation, the elevator has an overwhelmingly crucial meaning footnote in an auxiliary evacuation high-rise building with more than 30 floors causing the time to be the deciding factor under the emergency condition. The study shows that using the stairway or elevator separately cannot achieve the best effect. The elevator's evacuation time depends on the number of occupants on each floor and the elevator's carrying capacity. This paper discusses how to use the stair and elevator to optimize the hybrid evacuation in high-rise buildings and proposes two goals for the evacuation model of high-rise buildings under emergency conditions. One is that both the last occupant to use the stairway and the last occupant to use the elevator reach the safe place simultaneously. The other is that we fine-tune the evacuation destinations of the occupants to balance the utilization of each evacuation path as much as possible. We present the optimization method with three steps, and the evacuation time shrunk by up to 57% according to the baseline. In this paper, we study a delayed host-generalist parasitoid diffusion model subject to homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions, where generalist parasitoids are introduced to control the invasion of the hosts. We construct an explicit expression of positive steady-state solution using the implicit function theorem and prove its linear stability. Moreover, by applying feedback time delay τ as the bifurcation parameter, spatially inhomogeneous Hopf bifurcation near the positive steady-state solution is proved when τ is varied through a sequence of critical values. This finding implies that feedback time delay can induce spatially inhomogeneous periodic oscillatory patterns. The direction of spatially inhomogeneous Hopf bifurcation is forward when parameter m is sufficiently large. We present numerical simulations and solutions to further illustrate our main theoretical results. Numerical simulations show that the period and amplitude of the inhomogeneous periodic solution increase with increasing feedback time delay. Our theoretical analysis results only hold for parameter k when it is sufficiently close to 1, whereas numerical simulations suggest that spatially inhomogeneous Hopf bifurcation still occurs when k is larger than 1 but not sufficiently close to 1. This paper is concerned with a reaction–diffusion–advection chemostat model with two species growing and competing for a single-limited resource. By taking the growth rates of the two species as variable parameters, we study the effect of growth rates on the dynamics of this system. It is found that there exist several critical curves, which may classify the dynamics of this system into three scenarios: (1) extinction of both species; (2) competitive exclusion; (3) coexistence. Moreover, we take numerical approaches to further understand the potential behaviors of the above critical curves and observe that the bistable phenomenon can occur, besides competitive exclusion and coexistence. To further study the effect of advection and diffusion on the dynamics of this system, we present the bifurcation diagrams of positive equilibrium solutions of the single species model and the two-species model with the advection rates and the diffusion rates increasing, respectively. In this paper, a boost converter emulator with a memristive load instead of a resistive load is proposed, and a fractional-order model of the memristive boost converter is created. Firstly, the fractional-order models of the memristor and the memristive boost converter are established respectively, and then based on different switching states, the circuit equations of the fractional-order memristive boost converter operating in continuous conduction mode are derived. Secondly, the dynamic characteristics of the fractional-order system are analyzed by numerical simulations and are compared with the integer-order memristive boost converter. Furthermore, the effects of the memristive load on the system is studied by comparing it to the traditional boost converter with resistive load. The results indicate that the fractional-order memristive boost converter can exhibit rich dynamic behavior by adjusting bifurcation parameters, and the fractional-order circuit system expands the stable working regions of the integer-order circuit system. Meanwhile, the addition of the memristive load significantly widens the normal working regions. An extended Neyman–Pearson detector based on the combination of a traditional matched and wavelet filter in pulsed monostatic radar was proposed in this paper. Its properties were compared with properties of the cell average constant false alarm radar detector in the presence of white noise. The properties of detectors were examined in the receiver operating characteristic curves, parameter space. It consisted of false detection rate and the rate of true positive detected targets. In order to investigate the influence of temperature, the new parameter space was constructed: the temperature versus the rate of true positive detected targets. The traditional Neyman–Pearson detector based on a matched filter was fully operational and superior in the temperature range between 290 K and 350 K. Below this temperature range, its performance is completely degraded. It has been shown that by adding a wavelet filter, it can extend this temperature range between 260 K and 350 K. In the temperature range, where all detectors are fully operational, extended and classic Neyman–Pearson detectors had better performance than constant false alarm radar detector in the receiver operating characteristic curves' parameter space. The dynamics of the tubular chemical reactor with mass recycle was examined. In such a system, temperature and concentrations may oscillate chaotically. This means that state variable values are then unpredictable. In this paper, it has been shown that despite the chaos, the behavior of such a reactor can be predictable. It has been shown that this phenomenon can occur in two cases. The first case concerns intermittent chaos. It has been shown that intermittent outbursts can occur at regular intervals. The second case concerns transient chaos, i.e. a situation when chaos occurs only for a certain period of time, e.g. only during start-up. This phenomenon makes it impossible to predict what will occur in the reactor in the nearest time, but, makes it possible to precisely determine the values of the variables even in the distant future. In classical artificial intelligence and machine learning fields, the aim is to teach a certain program to find the most convenient and efficient way of solving a particular problem. However, these approaches are not suitable for simulating the evolution of human intelligence, since intelligence is a dynamically changing, volatile behavior, which greatly depends on the environment an agent is exposed to. In this paper, we present several models of what should be considered, when trying to simulate the evolution of intelligence of agents within a given environment. We explain several types of entropies, and introduce a dominant function model. By unifying these models, we explain how and why our ideas can be formally detailed and implemented using object-oriented technologies. The difference between our approach and that described in other papers also — approaching evolution from the point of view of entropies — is that our approach focuses on a general system, modern implementation solutions, and extended models for each component in the system. Wind-driven rain (WDR) and its interactions with structures is an important research subject in wind engineering. As bridge spans are becoming longer and longer, the effects of WDR on long-span bridges should be well understood. Therefore, this paper presents a comprehensive numerical simulation study of WDR on a full-scale long-span bridge under extreme conditions. A validation study shows that the predictions of WDR on a bridge section model agree with experimental results, validating the applicability of the WDR simulation approach based on the Eulerian multiphase model. Furthermore, a detailed numerical simulation of WDR on a long-span bridge, North Bridge of Xiazhang Cross-sea Bridge is conducted. The simulation results indicate that although the loads induced by raindrops on the bridge surfaces are very small as compared to the wind loads, extreme rain intensity may occur on some windward surfaces of the bridge. The adopted numerical methods and rain loading models are validated to be an effective tool for WDR simulation for bridges and the results presented in this paper provide useful information for the water-erosion proof design of future long-span bridges. In this paper, a flux-controlled memristor with linear memductance is proposed. Compared with the memristor with piecewise linear memductance and the memristor with smooth continuous nonlinearity memductance which are widely used in the study of memristive chaotic system, the proposed memristor has simple mathematical model and is easy to implement. Multisim circuit simulation and breadboard experiment are realized, and the memristor can exhibit a pinched hysteresis loop in the voltage-current plane when driven by a periodic voltage. In addition, a new hyper-chaotic system is presented in this paper by adding the proposed memristor into the Lorenz system. The transient chaos and multiple attractors are observed in this memristive system. The dynamical behaviors of the proposed system are analyzed by equilibria, Lyapunov exponents, bifurcation diagram and phase portrait. In this paper, we study a dual-channel closed-loop supply chain (CLSC) consisting of one manufacturer, one retailer and one third-party firm or platform (3P). The manufacturer wholesales new products through the traditional retail channel and distributes remanufactured products via 3P. We focus on establishing the dynamic Stackelberg game models for nondelayed and delayed cases, respectively. The existence and local stability of Nash equilibrium are examined as well as the complex dynamical behaviors of each model under various scenarios are investigated by numerical simulations, such as stability region, bifurcations, chaos, strange attractors, and so on. Moreover, the impacts of some key parameters on the performance of chain members are analyzed. In addition, the variable feedback control method is utilized to eliminate the system chaos. The results reveal that the high value of the consumer discount perception for remanufactured products and excessively fast price adjustment speed have a destabilization effect on the Nash equilibrium point. In addition, adopting delay decisions by manufacturer does not always make the system more stable because it can exert either positive or negative effect on the system's stability, while an intermediate delay weight is conducive to the system have a higher chance to stay stable. Furthermore, the manufacturer's profits will be declined significantly while the profits of retailer and 3P will be elevated to some extent when the system falls into periodic and chaotic motions, so chaos is not always necessarily detrimental to all the decision makers in the dual-channel CLSC. In this paper, a sliding-mode-based controller is designed for finite-time synchronization of Memristor Chaotic Systems (MCSs). It demonstrates that the synchronization errors of the MCSs reach the designed sliding-mode surface within a finite time and the finite-time stability is achieved on the surface, which implies that the finite-time synchronization for MCSs is achieved by employing the proposed sliding-mode-based controller. Furthermore, a new image encryption algorithm is proposed and implemented based on the results of finite-time synchronization. Finally, the numerical simulation and the corresponding statistical performance analysis are presented to verify the practicability, effectiveness and superiority of the presented sliding-mode-based controller and encryption algorithm, especially their potential applications in secure communication. In this paper, we consider a spatially size–stage-structured population dynamics model with resting phase. The primary objective of this model is to study size structure, stage structure, resting phase and spatial location simultaneously in a single population system. At first, we reformulate the problem as an abstract nondensely defined Cauchy problem. Then, taking advantage of the integrated semigroup and bifurcation theories, we investigate the stability and Hopf bifurcation at the positive equilibrium of the model. This paper presents a study of the existence conditions of limit cycles and mechanisms when losing their stability in an open-loop DC–DC boost converter loaded with a constant power load and operating in discontinuous conduction mode. First, the existence conditions are determined. Then, boundaries associated with different kinds of instabilities such as the classical smooth fold and period-doubling bifurcations and nonsmooth border-collision bifurcations such as fold border-collision bifurcations are elucidated. To perform the stability analysis, an implicit 1D map for the system is derived. From this model, it is obtained that smooth period-doubling and fold bifurcations may occur at certain values of the circuit parameters. In this paper, we consider a Holling type II predator–prey system with prey refuge, Allee effect, fear effect and time delay. The existence and stability of the equilibria of the system are investigated. Under the variation of the delay as a parameter, the system experiences a Hopf bifurcation at the positive equilibrium when the delay crosses some critical values. We also analyze the direction of Hopf bifurcation and the stability of bifurcating periodic solution by the center manifold theorem and normal form theory. We show that the influence of fear effect and Allee effect is negative, while the impact of the prey refuge is positive. In particular, the birth rate plays an important role in the stability of the equilibria. Examples with associated numerical simulations are provided to prove our main results. The Leslie–Gower model, a kind of predator–prey model with weak Allee effect, is studied in this paper. The existence and stability of non-negative equilibria are first discussed. Then, we investigate several bifurcation phenomena undergoing positive equilibria, such as saddle-node bifurcation, Hopf bifurcation and Bogdanov–Takens bifurcation, etc. Some possible dynamical behaviors of this model are illustrated by numerical simulation. The bifurcation diagrams for the cases of codimensions 2 and 3 are given respectively. The coexistence of a periodic cycle and a homoclinic cycle, and two limit cycles enclosing an unstable equilibrium are also proved. In this paper, the Melnikov method for an abstract stochastic nonsmooth hybrid system is derived in detail and employed to study the homoclinic bifurcations and induced chaos in a bistable vibro-impact SD oscillator with bounded noise first proposed by Li et al. 2021, in which the geometric nonlinearity is used to produce the irrational restoring force and an impact map is introduced to describe energy loss during collisions. The initial Poincaré section is selected on the right rigid constraint so that rigorous perturbation analysis can be carried out to avoid the extension of trajectories near the switching manifold. The stochastic Melnikov function with geometrical intuition is obtained to detect the threshold of parameters for homocinic tangency of the perturbed stochastic stable and unstable manifolds by calculating the energy difference of their initial points on the Poincaré section. Finally, the analytical Melnikov analysis combined with numerical simulations is carried out to validate the developed Melnikov method for analyzing the global dynamics of the bistable vibro-impact SD oscillator subject to bounded noise. Memristive synaptic weight is a changeable connection synaptic weight. It reflects the self-adaption physical processing in biological neurons. To study its dynamical effect, this paper presents a memristive synaptic weight-based tabu learning neuron model. It is constructed by replacing the resistive self-connection synaptic weight in the tabu learning neuron with a memristive self-connection synaptic weight. The equilibrium point of the memristive tabu learning model is time-varying and switches between no equilibrium state and line equilibrium state with the change of the external current. Particularly, the stability of the line equilibrium state closely relies on the initial state of the memristor, resulting in the emergence of coexisting infinitely many nonchaotic attractors. By employing the bifurcation plots, Lyapunov exponents, and phase plots, this paper numerically reveals the initial state-switched coexisting bifurcation behaviors and initial state-relied extreme multistability, and thereby discloses the coexisting infinitely many nonchaotic attractors composed of mono-periodic, multiperiodic, and quasi-periodic orbits. In addition, PSIM circuit simulations and printed-circuit board-based experiments are executed and the coexisting infinitely many nonchaotic attractors are realized physically.
