Contemporary artistic practices were provided with a space for reflection and the creation of opinion in the galleries of the Fundació Espais and in the pages of its art magazine, Papers d'Art. A group of independent voices of multidisciplinary artistic production was made audible thanks to this publication that provided a critique which forged dynamic connections between artistic meaning and social and cultural contexts. This paper highlights a shift in meaning of the conception of contemporary art as a key element in intellectual culture, including politics, philosophy, science and other creative formats such as music and literature. Based on an analysis of the critical awareness of the various contributors to the magazine and on the historiographic study of certain aesthetic and symbolic questions, a review of the articles published in the Studies and Research section is detailed. This paper calls for greater ethical standards in the peer review process. Critical analysis through the lens of the COPE Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers is performed on two reviews received on different versions of a paper from two different journals. Both are relentlessly negative. Neither is executed ethically. No justifiable significant criticism is evident. Both appear influenced by confirmation bias. One is characterized by apparent misreading of both the paper and the reviewer's sources, plus failure to check criticism was valid. The rhetorical style of the other diminishes clarity, introduces ambiguity, and bewilders. It conveys overwhelming negativity with no supporting substance. This paper is the first to contribute to this theme in both the accounting and the accounting history literature. It is hoped it will encourage reviewers to be ethical, that it results in unethical reviews being more readily detected, and authors being better equipped to address reviewer comments. The South African government's response to the universal crisis of global warming has resulted in the creation of the National Climate Change Response White Paper, a proposed country-wide course of action that would aid in the stabilization of greenhouse gas emissions and intervene in current harmful environmental practices. The role of communication and the media is crucial to the success of any policy implementation as well as of the establishment of an 'action-inspired' mind-set amongst citizens that will bolster lifestyle change to support the cause. This paper will assess the National Climate Change Response White Paper in conjunction with climate change coverage from the South African daily online news source, News 24. Additionally, films released from the Bjerkness Centre for Climate Research and discussion surrounding youth's use of relatable mediums to invoke lifestyle change from Lindie Buirski, Head of Environmental Capacity Building, Training and Education in the City of Cape Town's Environmental Resource Management (ERM) Department, will aid in analysis. Moreover, they will serve to bolster the argument of communications' critical role in realizing any goals set forth by the government. The paper will close by offering proposed climate-change directed development projects for the South African context and will refer to current international successful examples of media use to carry the message of climate change, while inviting audience input, participation, and most importantly, action. This paper describes results of a scientometric study of "Robotics" research publications during the period of 10 years i.e. (2009-2018). The raw data was collected from leading citation database i.e. Scopus. The study examines and analysis various scientometrics parameter and after the analysis it has been found that the out of total 4325 research paper, the highest documents were published in 2018 i.e. 791 (18.29%) while the minimum 134 (3.1%) of research papers were found in the year 2009 and the annual growth rate of publications was in fluctuating trends. The maximum (1.23) relative growth rate was found in 2010; the highest doubling time (3.43) was recorded in 2018; the maximum papers were written by more than three authors i.e. 1657 research papers. The average degree of author's collaborations was (0.93). Krishna, K.M. was the most productive author with (51) research papers contribution. Out of a total 16670 citations, 2718 citations were recorded in 2010 and a total 4325 publications, 2704 (62.52%) of records were conference paper. The highest publications came from computer science subject and the highest publications were published in ACM international conference proceeding series while the maximum 2508 'Robotics keyword was used by the authors during the period of study. Purpose: In the last decade, cloud manufacturing (CMfg) has attracted considerable attention from academia and industry worldwide. It is widely accepted that the design and analysis of cloud manufacturing architecture (CMfg-A) are the basis for developing and applying CMfg systems. However, in existing studies, analysis of the status, development process and internal characteristics of CMfg-A is lacking, hindering an understanding of the research hotspots and development trends of CMfg-A. Meanwhile, effective guidance is lacking on the construction of superior CMfg-As. The purpose of this paper is to review the relevant research on CMfg-A via identification of the main layers, elements, relationships, structure and functions of CMfg-A to provide valuable information to scholars and practitioners for further research on key CMfg-A technologies and the construction of CMfg systems with superior performance. Design/methodology/approach: This study systematically reviews the relevant research on CMfg-A across transformation process to internal characteristics by integrating quantitative and qualitative methods. First, the split and reorganization method is used to recognize the main layers of CMfg-A. Then, the transformation process of six main layers is analysed through retrospective analysis, and the similarities and differences in CMfg-A are obtained. Subsequently, based on systematic theory, the elements, relationships, structure and functions of CMfg-A are inductively studied. A 3D printing architecture design case is conducted to discuss the weakness of the previous architecture and demonstrate how to improve it. Finally, the primary current trends and future opportunities are presented. Findings: By analyzing the transformation process of CMfg-A, this study finds that CMfg-A resources are developing from tangible resources into intangible resources and intelligent resources. CMfg-A technology is developing from traditional cloud computing-based technology towards advanced manufacturing technology, and CMfg-A application scope is gradually expanding from traditional manufacturing industry to emerging manufacturing industry. In addition, by analyzing the elements, relationships, structure and functions of CMfg-A, this study finds that CMfg-A is undergoing a new generation of transformation, with trends of integrated development, intelligent development, innovative development and green development. Case study shows that the analysis of the development trend and internal characteristics of the architecture facilitates the design of a more effective architecture. Research limitations/implications: This paper predominantly focuses on journal articles and some key conference papers published in English and Chinese. The reason for considering Chinese articles is that CMfg was proposed by the Chinese and a lot of Chinese CMfg-A articles have been published in recent years. CMfg is suitable for the development of China's manufacturing industry because of China's intelligent manufacturing environment. It is believed that this research has reached a reliable comprehensiveness that can help scholars and practitioners establish new research directions and evaluate their work in CMfg-A. Originality/value: Prior studies ignore the identification and analysis of development process and internal characteristics for the current development of CMfg-A, including the main layers identification of different CMfg-As and the transformation process analysis of these main layers, and in-depth analysis of the inner essence of CMfg-A (such as its elements, relationships, structure and functions). There has been a rise in scepticism regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in qualitative research tasks such as critical reviews, conceptualization, thematic and content analysis, and potentially theory development. Concerns have been raised over the possibility that researchers intentionally avoid discussing or even mentioning the use of AI in their studies for a variety of reasons, including the "fear" of criticism and rejection of their papers. The purpose of this paper, which is guided by critical perspective principles, is to examine the controversy surrounding the appropriate recognition of AI in theoretical discussions and qualitative research, including conceptual, critical reviews, empirical, and other types of studies of qualitative nature. Prior to a discussion of how to acknowledge the use of AI, the significance of notions of acknowledgment and academic integrity in the context of research are discussed. As the author of this paper, I acknowledge and document the use of both AI and the researcher's cognitive skills in the development of this theoretical critical perspective study through a four-phase process, while giving directions of when and how to acknowledge the use of AI in qualitative studies. To date, the studies on managerial loss aversion have produced contradictory findings, making it impossible to: (i) identify the ultimate impact of managerial loss aversion on the value that organisations create for themselves and for their stakeholders, and (ii) mitigate the effect of managerial loss aversion to improve corporate value creation. With the aim of filling this gap, the authors of this paper first performed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), resulting in 65 relevant papers. The 65 papers were then analysed through a Thematic Analysis (TA), which was aimed at isolating and revising the single effects of managerial loss aversion on the corporate value creation process. Once it became clear when and how managerial loss aversion leads to negative impacts on corporate value creation (such as suboptimal investments in corporate social responsibility, short-term-oriented budget expenditures, illegal corporate conduct in favourable contexts, and low demand for audit quality), a novel theoretical framework was built. This framework proposes some preliminary approaches to mitigate these detrimental effects. In particular, future empirical research may operationalise potential debiasing strategies, derived from critical analysis of the literature, to reduce managerial loss aversion in different business settings, thereby improving corporate value creation. With the rapid development of social media, new opportunities have been provided for the generation and dissemination of online rumors, making systematic study of rumor detection of great significance for the control and governance of internet rumors. Addressing the limitations of past review studies on rumor detection which were characterized by a single perspective, reliance on subjective judgment, and lack of technological evolution theory, this paper reviews 983 rumor detection articles in the SCI-EXPANDED, SSCI, CPCI-S, CPCI-SSH, CCR-EXPANDED, and IC databases of the Web of Science. Utilizing Citespace and VOSviewer for visual analysis of the articles, and adopting bibliometric theories like network analysis and topic evolution analysis, this study identifies core research groups in the field of rumor detection based on author collaboration network and institution collaboration network. Through high-frequency keyword clustering graph and keyword co-occurrence graph, the study unveils topic associations and cluster structures among keywords, explicates research hotspots in the field of rumor detection, and conducts a fine-grained critical comparative analysis. According to keyword time graph, keyword bursts table, and trends in the number of publications in hot technology fields, combined with the S-curve technology evolution theory, the study discerns the life cycle and research trends of technologies in the rumor detection field. Compared to existing literature reviews, this paper is the first to propose integrating bibliometrics and S-curve technology evolution theory to reveal the state of relevant technologies and research frontiers. Plain Language Summary: A Review and Analysis of Rumor Detection Research There are many rumors on social media, which can mislead the public and disrupt the social order. How to detect rumors is an important research problem. Rumor detection can help control the spread and diffusion of rumors, and reduce their negative impact on the public and society. This article reviews and analyzes the research on rumor detection, using a combination of bibliometrics and S-curve technology evolution theory, and summarizes the research status, hotspots and trends of rumor detection. It finds that the research on rumor detection mainly has five aspects: rumor detection based on machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, multimodal fusion and trust network. These aspects have their own advantages, challenges and improvements. The technologies used are in different stages of maturity and have different development potentials. The most promising ones are multimodal fusion and trust network, which can extract more rich and effective rumor features, and enhance the effect and credibility of rumor detection. This article provides a new perspective and method for the research on rumor detection, and helps researchers better understand and predict the technical status and research frontier of rumor detection. This review paper is an homage to Arvid Palmgren's pioneering paper on rolling bearing service life to highlight its relevance a century later. It follows the evolution of bearing service life theory from Palmgren's fundamental research to the contemporary international standard ISO 281. Palmgren's theory, based on the previously published papers of Stribeck and Hertz, laid the basis for the later development of bearing service life assessment methodology. Based on the Weibull theory of probability of damage, Lundberg and Palmgren introduced stochastic elements to explain the effect of reliability on bearing service life prediction. Harris and Ioannides, who made a significant contribution to the revision of the international standard on rolling bearing load rating and rating life are mentioned as well. Zaretsky's critical analysis also was not neglected in this review, due to a different approach respecting the original influence of material properties and bearing performances. Despite standardization, ongoing research by leading advanced bearing industries and academic institutions continues to refine methodologies for service life assessment. Through a comprehensive review and analysis, this paper offers insight into the current state of bearing service life theory, highlighting the collaborative efforts bringing progress in this field. The paper examines how theoretical misunderstandings of Karl Marx's theory of value have affected scholarly debates on sweatshops and labour-exploitation more broadly. Participants to these debates tend to overlook the distinction between the form of value and the substance of value. The paper further analyses problems with an exchange-based conceptualization of the labour-process, adopted by many sweatshop-defenders. Rather than posit Marx's own perspective as the exclusively correct position, this paper seeks to foster a more informed dialogue on the issue of labour-exploitation in global sweatshops. The authors of the title paper [ Colloids and Surfaces A 606 (2020) 125456] reported to have hydrothermally synthesized nanosheet-constructed porous MnMoS 4 arrays on 3D Ni foam as a binder-free electrode in high performance supercapacitors. A critical analysis of the reported results viz. X-ray powder pattern and the elemental composition reveals that the electrode material is not MnMoS 4 as it contains substantial oxygen in addition to less Mo content than Mn. In this letter to the Editor, many points of criticism concerning the hydrothermal synthesis and interpretation of the experimental data are described to prove that MnMoS 4 (I) is a dubious material. The purpose of this paper is to explore the impact of knowledge vulnerabilities on knowledge risks and to analyse their intricate connections within the knowledge management systems. It is a new topic in knowledge management which is requested by the accelerated process of digitalization and the exponential development of the AI programs. There is a lack of research in this area and efforts should be made to bridge the knowledge gap. The method we use is based on a critical analysis of knowledge vulnerabilities and knowledge risks within a generic organization and of designing tree-diagrams able to illustrate the connections between them, and the possible adverse consequences for the firm's performance. The method of treediagrams has been extensively used in risk analysis of the complex technological systems of airplanes and nuclear reactors. Also, it is used in the risk management applied to other domains like climate change and earthquakes. It is the first paper to investigate these phenomena and to conceptualize such kind of diagrams. In the past few decades, there has been a dramatic increase in scientific publications dealing with contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) and the escalating publication rate makes it close to impossible for individual researchers to get an overview of the field. Assuring the relevance and quality of the research conducted in any research field is a crucially important task. The rapidly increasing publication rates imply that review papers will play a progressively more central role to that end. The aim of the present paper is to critically assess whether reviews dealing with contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) are effective vehicles for a healthy dialogue about methodological weaknesses, uncertainties, research gaps and the future direction of the field. We carried out a tiered content-analysis of CEC review papers. Relevant papers were identified through searches in Web of Science (Clarivate), leading to the identification of 6391 original research papers of which 193 are review papers. We find that the majority of CEC reviews are written as if they are comprehensive, even though this clearly is not the case. A minority (~20%) take a critical-analytical approach to the reviewing task and identify weaknesses and research gaps. The following widespread tendencies in CEC research papers are commonly noted as concerning: to equate removal of CECs to 'decreased concentrations in the effluent'; to focus on parent substances and not concern oneself with degradation products; to focus on most commonly studied substances rather than those of most concern; to not deal with the corollary of our inability to detect or assess the risk for all substances, and to give insufficient attention to uncertainties and the unknown. Several critical-analytical reviews are among the highest cited, which suggests that they have the potential to function as effective vehicles for a healthy dialogue on these topics. On the other hand, it would appear that the concerns expressed in these reviews have a limited impact, as the same concerns are repeated over time. This might be due to a tendency among review authors to express their concerns implicitly, instead of clearly spelling them out. Our study suggests that CEC reviews presently fail to provide adequate and reliable guidance regarding the relevance and quality of research in the field. We argue that the overwhelming number of publications in combination with a lack of quality criteria for review papers are reasons to this failure: it is well documented that choices made during the reviewing process have a major impact on the outcome of a review. These choices include: search engine; the criteria used to include or exclude papers; the criteria used to assess the quality of the data generated in the research papers included; the criteria used for the choice of substances/ organisms/ technologies reported on. The lack of transparent procedures makes it very difficult, if not impossible, to assess the quality of the findings presented or to put those findings in context. In this light, it is noteworthy that criteria for a good review paper are rarely spelled out by peer-reviewed journals or included in instructions on scientific writing. The dramatic increase in publications is a challenge for the entire research community, particularly for research fields that are expected to provide policy-relevant data. We argue that only when peer-reviewed journals start specifying quality criteria for review papers, can such papers be relied upon to provide adequate and strategic guidance on the development of CEC research. We anticipate that our findings and conclusions are valid for many other research fields. • A minority of reviews of compounds of emerging concern (CECs) take a critical-analytical approach and identify weaknesses, research gaps or ways forward. • Serious concerns in CEC reviews: authors do not pay attention to substances of most concern, degradation products, or uncertainties. Equate removal with decreased concentration. • Critical analytical reviews have limited impact and the same concerns are repeatedly expressed over time. • The low quality of the majority of CEC reviews is worrisome and prevents reviews from effectively guiding future research. • Recommendation: Journals to spell out and act on quality criteria, else there is a risk that review papers perpetuate weaknesses in research rather than counteract them. Conrad's Heart of Darkness is often regarded as a great text in Western Literature. One of its most intriguing aspects is its portrayal of women, or rather, the lack thereof. The novella has been examined from various critical perspectives such as Freudian, Marxist, postcolonial, and deconstructive, just to name a few. However, the treatment of women has received little scholarly attention. In this light, Conrad's nuanced view of women, heavily influenced by Schopenhauer, deserves greater attention. In this male-centric novella, women are nameless, inferior, insignificant, and mostly silent, except for occasional cries. This paper explores Schopenhauer's perspective on women - as primarily suited for childbirth and domestic duties, as well as Conrad's mistrust of women in the novella may reflect personal experiences and societal norms, exemplified in his portrayal of his wife and fictional female characters. This perspective is further reinforced by Schopenhauer's derogatory views on women, emphasizing their perceived intellectual deficiency. Examining the female characters reveals how Conrad confines them to limited roles, echoing patriarchal attitudes of his time. From Marlow's aunt, who blindly supports the colonial project due to her lack of knowledge on important issues, to Kurtz's Intended, who idealizes Kurtz despite his dark deeds, women are depicted as out of touch with reality. Ultimately, this paper offers a deep insight into Conrad's view of women in Heart of Darkness through a Schopenhauerian lens. Our analysis suggests that the female characters represent Conrad's view of women and that he was influenced by Schopenhauer, who belittles women in much of his writing. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The study aspired to investigate the human trauma of a society in wartime and thereafter. It focuses on literature that seeks to reflect life as it should be. However, literary works here deal with catastrophic dramas that depict Iraqis who generally suffer from the negative repercussions of the American Crisis and the extreme underdevelopment and poverty at that time. In this paper, the audience faces the disaster in two dramatic works: Baghdadi Bath (2005) by Jawad al-Asadi and Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo (2012) by Rajiv Joseph. They are a good example that depicts the nightmare experienced by all Iraqis during the war. Speaking about the disaster of war, we guess that the disaster may have human roots. The disaster of war on Iraq, in particular, is taken for analysis. The researchers try to denote the nature of man at the time of the disaster. The paper explores the relations between the ideas of war and the world we face and refers to Baghdad's brutal past and its confused present. It also inspects the real reasons behind the war and records the human condition in the consequences of the American invasion of Iraq. To narrow the field of investigation, the researchers have chosen disaster at war, especially the American war on Iraq in 2003, and its results for the study. Climate change has emerged as a global focal point, notably affecting vulnerable countries like Pakistan. The country faces heightened risk, prompting concern among many due to its susceptibility to climate-related hazards. An imperative challenge arising from this phenomenon is the necessary shift towards sustainable energy, particularly concerning energy consumption within the building sector. Buildings significantly contribute to daily energy usage and subsequent GHG emissions. In Pakistan, transitioning to energy-efficient building stock holds pivotal importance in mitigating climate change impacts. This hinges on establishing a robust institutional framework and regulatory structure centered around energy efficiency. While Pakistan possesses policies and national guidelines advocating for energy-efficient buildings, their practical enforcement and application remain inadequate. The inception of the Building Energy Code of Pakistan in 1990, based on ASHRAE 90.1 standards, marked a step forward. However, obstacles rooted in institutional weakness and limited capacity building have impeded its effective adoption and adherence. Although the Energy Provisions of 2011 introduced modifications, their scope remained confined mainly to commercial structures. This paper conducts an extensive assessment of Pakistan's existing institutional and regulatory framework for building energy efficiency and transition. Drawing on literature insights and stakeholder perspectives, an in-depth understanding of prevailing policies and institutions uncovers underlying reasons for noncompliance and limited implementation. Additionally, input was gathered from stakeholders through interviews, aiming to identify barriers obstructing the reinforcement of building energy efficiency measures in Pakistan. Discourse and narrative analysis, informed by literature and stakeholder interviews, revealed the significance of awareness, participation, coordination, capacity building, technical expertise, finance, and resources as key factors contributing to deficient compliance and implementation of existing codes and policy guidelines. The integration between blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI) has gained a lot of attention in recent years, especially since such integration can improve security, efficiency, and productivity of applications in business environments characterised by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. In particular, supply chain is one of the areas that have been shown to benefit tremendously from blockchain and AI, by enhancing information and process resilience, enabling faster and more cost-efficient delivery of products, and augmenting products' traceability, among others. This paper performs a state-of-the-art review of blockchain and AI in the field of supply chains. More specifically, we sought to answer the following three principal questions: Q1—What are the current studies on the integration of blockchain and AI in supply chain?, Q2—What are the current blockchain and AI use cases in supply chain?, and Q3—What are the potential research directions for future studies involving the integration of blockchain and AI? The analysis performed in this paper has identified relevant research studies that have contributed both conceptually and empirically to the expansion and accumulation of intellectual wealth in the supply chain discipline through the integration of blockchain and AI. Following the systematic review and bibliometric analysis of current literature, this paper attempts to investigate whether the wealth generated through cryptocurrency trading can assist in attaining the United Nations' (UN) sustainable development goal (SDG) 7, affordable and clean energy and UN SDG 13 related to climate action. The critical analysis of literature indicates a growing interest in cryptocurrency, the UN's SDGs and the negative effect that crypto mining has on the use of enormous energy. However, there is a clear gap in the literature that focuses on the possibility of using the wealth generated through cryptocurrency trading in financing environmentally friendly projects and attaining the UN's SDG 7 and SDG 13. The findings and the future research direction of this study aim to firstly expand the academic literature related to SDG 7 and SDG 13 and secondly to examine the relationship between cryptocurrency and sustainability even during an uncertain period. This study provides evidence pertaining to the theoretical models that can be applied within discussion of the complex relationship between cryptocurrency, clean energy and climate action. Our findings will provide policymakers with information regarding actions that need to be taken in order to convert cryptocurrency generated wealth and consequently attaining sustainable socio‐economic goals in the future. Corporate governance is gaining interest not only from investors but companies that want to operate in international markets, prompting a more thorough analysis of the field to prioritise stakeholder interests alongside shareholder value. By adopting a holistic approach that considers stakeholders' diverse needs and expectations, companies can build resilience, foster trust, and create sustainable value for all stakeholders, ensuring long-term success and societal impact. This paper analyses corporate governance principles applied at the international, European, and national levels, emphasising the importance of the field for the stakeholders. The practical approach of the paper analyses the application and compliance of the corporate governance code of 18 companies in the field of financial intermediation and insurance, which are listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, underlining the crucial role of transparency of operations in instilling confidence and reassurance in stakeholders. Simple Summary: In this paper, we perform a critical re-reading of selected animal-related folklore texts and, applying Hubert Zapf's concept of imaginative counter-discourse, consider the potential of imagination as a methodological tool in the transformative program of zoofolkloristics. Nonhuman animal protagonists of folklore texts in the European space have tended to be perceived primarily as performing a symbolic and metaphoric function. But behind the symbols and the metaphors hide real flesh-and-blood nonhuman animals, and flesh-and-blood humans interacting with them, mostly from a position of power. The emerging discipline of zoofolkloristics considers nonhuman animals in their own right. Through critical analysis of folklore material, zoofolkloristics examines the role of animals and power relations within the interspecies entanglement with the aim of deconstructing the oppressive system and establishing multispecies justice. We begin this paper with a brief reflection on the 'historical animal' as an embodied being and a human construct. We then perform a critical re-reading of three animal-related folklore texts from the Slovenian tradition and, applying Hubert Zapf's concept of imaginative counter-discourse, consider the potential of imagination as a methodological tool in the transformative program of zoofolkloristics. Over the past few decades, the increasing number of vehicles and imperfect road traffic management have been sources of congestion in cities and reasons for deteriorating health of its inhabitants. With the help of computer simulations, transport engineers optimise and improve the capacity of city streets. However, with an enormous number of possible simulation types, it is difficult to grasp valuable, innovative solutions which are of the greatest value to city citizens. In this work, the authors expose various problems within this area having reviewed and analysed over 130 papers selected out of 1200 works in the field of urban simulations. The study describes the selection process of important papers and highlights characteristics of microsimulations, macrosimulations, computation optimisations and other approaches found in the literature which are especially useful and should be further built on in the future. They present and compare results provided in reviewed works in terms of throughput improvement, queue, waiting and travel time reduction, vehicle speed increase, speed‐ups as well as assumed simulation parameters. Finally, they focus on research gaps, such as a small number of works considering crisis simulations, few real‐world scale simulations as well as on software architectural changes and low‐level optimizations. Recently, business models for environmental sustainability have gained increasing attention in the management field and among practitioners and stakeholders. This study aims to analyse the state of the art on the topic by reviewing the growing but mainly phenomenon‐driven research. In particular, by identifying main research trends and relevant gaps in the literature and by providing future research avenues, this paper advances the debate on the need for alternative concepts of doing business that go beyond the creation of economic value for a company in a way that generates value for the society. Our article undertakes two stages of screening the available literature and selects 151 peer‐reviewed articles published between 2007 and early 2019 for the review. The paper provides the first comprehensive systematic review of business models in the field of environmental sustainability with a detailed descriptive and critical analysis and with a discussion of future research opportunities. This paper critically analyses a reflection paper commissioned by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) that proposes a future where we, humans, learn to coexist with the non-human world and thereby contribute to its preservation. The paper, titled Learning To Become With the World: Education for Future Survival, represents a response to previous unsuccessful Education for sustainable development (ESD) initiatives. Drawing on Carol Bacchi's (2009), "What's the problem represented to be?" method, our analysis sheds light on assumptions and silences and considers potentially conflicting interests among different actors in formulating the policy proposed by the paper. Through this critical approach to analysis, several crucial implications have emerged. We argue that the report lacks practical applicability by ignoring human complexities and diversity and does not pay enough attention to the potential important role Indigenous ways of knowing, learning, and teaching could play for education for sustainable development. As the main driving force for the digital transformation of the construction industry, the uncertainty of digital technology in the application process has seriously hindered the high-quality development of the construction industry. In order to promote the wide application of digital technology in the construction industry and clarify the key uncertainties in its application process, this paper identifies the uncertainty index system of digital technology application based on the LDA topic model and literature analysis; the DEMATEL-ISM method is used to construct the multilevel hierarchical structure model of the uncertainty indicators in the application of digital technology to study the mutual influence among the indicators and to find the key uncertainty indicators. The research results show that the uncertainty indicators of the application of digital technology in the construction industry are divided into five levels: policy, industry, personnel, economy and law, and that the perfection of the policy guarantee system is the key uncertainty indicator for the investment return period of digital technology application. The standard contract model for digital technology is a direct uncertainty indicator for the application of digital technology in the construction industry. The results of this study help researchers and practitioners to focus on the key barriers and provide a list of key elements for construction companies to promote the application of next-generation digital technologies to improve digitalization of the construction industry. (1) Background: Drug-Induced Sleep Endoscopy (DISE) enables the three-dimensional and dynamic visualization of the upper airway (UA) during sleep, which is useful in selecting the best treatment option for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) patients, particularly for surgical procedures. Despite international consensus statements or position papers, a universally accepted DISE methodology and classification system remain a controversial open question. (2) Methods: A review of the English scientific literature on DISE related to endoscopic classification systems and surgical outcome predictors (3) Results: Of the 105 articles, 47 were included in the analysis based on their content's relevance to the searched keywords. (4) Conclusions: A final report and scoring classification system is not universally accepted; the most internationally applied endoscopic classification system during DISE does not cover all patterns of events that occur simultaneously during the endoscopic examination, highlighting that several configurations of collapse and obstruction at different UA levels could be observed during DISE, which should be described in detail if DISE has to be considered in the decision-making process for the UA surgical treatment in OSA patients and if DISE has to have a role as a predictive factor for surgical outcomes analysis. Two-dimensional object detection techniques can detect multiscale objects in images. However, they lack depth information. Three-dimensional object detection provides the location of the object in the image along with depth information. To provide depth information, 3D object detection involves the application of depth-perceiving sensors such as LiDAR, stereo cameras, RGB-D, RADAR, etc. The existing review articles on 3D object detection techniques are found to be focusing on either a singular modality (e.g., only LiDAR point cloud-based) or a singular application field (e.g., autonomous vehicle navigation). However, to the best of our knowledge, there is no review paper that discusses the applicability of 3D object detection techniques in other fields such as agriculture, robot vision or human activity detection. This study analyzes both singular and multimodal techniques of 3D object detection techniques applied in different fields. A critical analysis comprising strengths and weaknesses of the 3D object detection techniques is presented. The aim of this study is to facilitate future researchers and practitioners to provide a holistic view of 3D object detection techniques. The shift in the critical perspective splits an episteme in two. A line of demarcation identical to the paradigm shift separates the new epistemes in a way that the critical insight should differ drastically on both sides of the line. Michel Foucault sorts these historical epistemes as Renaissance and Classical epistemes, then he included the Modern episteme as a latter historical era, and the line of distinction between one episteme and another is the critical insight that the involved mentality adopts. When it comes to the source of the influence of human behavior, the change in perspective in the consideration of the source of the influence is clarified in the comparison between the preFreudian versus the post-Freudian understandings of human beings. It means that with the consideration of two major depressions, the preFreudian thought believed that the driving forces of human beings are external. Whereas the post-Freudian understanding reconsidered the influence on human behavior as ramifications of the subconsciousness that eventually affect the consciousness of human beings. This paper examines Philip Ridley‟s Mercury Fur (2005) in terms of the Russian Formalist‟s defamiliarization aspects. The deployment of such techniques implicates the advancement of the dystopian irregularities on the stage over the regularly implied didactic methodologies. The use of the Foucauldian epistemes distinguishes the deployed defamiliarizing aspects as identified with a difference from the de Sassurean sign analogy. Background: Primary care is an essential pillar of health systems. Many countries have implemented different policies to improve access to primary care. However, persistent challenges remain. This paper offers a critical analysis of the evolution of primary care coverage in Portugal, focusing on the number of patients without an assigned general practitioner (GP). Methods: We collected and analyzed publicly available data from 2009 to 2023 to decompose primary care coverage in three components: the number of patients enrolled in primary care units (demand-side effect), the number of GPs measured in full-time equivalent (supply-side effect), and the average number of patients on each GP's list (patient-to-GP ratio, capturing a productivity effect). We provide national and local level estimates for these three components. Results: Between 2009 and 2023, there was an overall decline in the number of patients enrolled in primary health care units. Concurrently, there was also a net decrease of GPs measured in full-time equivalent. Additionally, there was a progressive reduction in the average number of patients on each GP's list. The rise in the number of patients without an assigned GP is attributed not only to a reduction in the number of physicians, but also to a decrease in the patient load per doctor. Conclusions: Hiring additional GPs may not suffice to enhance coverage. Achieving higher coverage may imply revisiting patient load per doctor or considering alternative care models. The use of integrated heaters is widespread in silicon photonics for waveguide temperature control. The dynamical behavior of the heaters is important for determining their usefulness for certain applications. There exists ambiguity in the literature when it comes to reporting the thermo-optic time constants of Si photonic devices. Many studies report devices with different heating and cooling times without providing an explanation to this phenomenon. In this paper, a comprehensive theoretical framework is developed for interpreting experimental results. This framework is developed for interferometric devices (Mach–Zehnder-based) and resonant devices (rings). With this framework, the impact of measurement conditions on the obtained thermo-optic time constant can be simulated, and we provide an explanation to the observed difference between heating and cooling time constants. We also provide guidelines on how to disentangle optical non-linearities from the pure thermal response, which should be useful in for future reporting of thermo-optic time constants. Over the last three quarters of a century, international guidelines and regulations have undergone significant changes in how children are problematised as participants in biomedical research. While early guidelines enacted children as vulnerable subjects with diminished autonomy and in need of special protection, beginning in the early 2000s, international regulatory frameworks defined the paediatric population as vulnerable due to unaddressed public health needs. More recently, ethical recommendations have promoted the active engagement of minors as research partners. In this paper, I adopt a post-structuralist approach to policy analysis to examine deep-seated assumptions and presuppositions underlying the changes in the problematisation of children as biomedical research participants over time. While biomedical research ethics focuses on the autonomy and vulnerability of minors, ethical guidelines are situated in specific sociocultural contexts, shaped, among other things, by contingent public health needs and changing conceptions of the value of research and science for society. In the process, I demonstrate the challenge of moving away from an approach that in taking adults as the model overshadows the complexity of children's lived experiences as well as their personal, cultural, and social lives. The lack of acknowledgement of this complexity makes children vulnerable to epistemic injustice, which is particularly crucial to address in public involvement initiatives. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper contributes to the literature on political corporate social responsibility (PCSR) by considering the forward‐looking, political responsibilities of corporations in relation to structural injustice, based on a critical engagement with Iris Marion Young's Social Connection Model (SCM) of responsibility. Although Young's SCM serves as a key reference point in the PCSR literature, engagement with her work tends to be superficial and lacks critical engagement. By offering a more developed engagement with Young's SCM, this paper addresses several themes that have been highlighted as being insufficiently developed in the PCSR literature. In particular, this paper considers (i) the grounds for corporate political responsibility in relation to structural injustice rather than globalization; (ii) the scope of corporate political responsibilities vis‐à‐vis other actors; and (iii) the role of power in relation to deliberative processes and in relation to scope. Stimulant laxatives are well established as first- or second-line treatments for constipation and although they have a reliable therapeutic effect, alleged safety concerns still exist, particularly with long-term use. The potential harmful effects on the gastrointestinal system (including carcinogenicity) of the long-term use of diphenylmethane [bisacodyl, sodium picosulfate (SPS)] and senna stimulant laxatives were assessed in a comprehensive review of the publications identified in literature searches performed in PubMed and Embase up to and including June 2023. We identified and reviewed 43 publications of interest. While stimulant laxatives at supratherapeutic doses have been shown to cause structural alterations to surface absorptive cells in animals and humans, these effects are reversible and not considered clinically relevant. No formal long-term studies have demonstrated morphological changes in enteric neural elements or intestinal smooth muscle with bisacodyl or SPS in humans. Furthermore, there is no convincing evidence that stimulant laxatives are associated with the development of colon cancer, and in fact, chronic constipation itself has been reported to potentially increase the risk of colon cancer, therefore, the use of stimulant laxatives might reduce this risk. Many studies suggesting a possible harmful effect from laxatives were limited by their failure to consider confounding factors such as concomitant neurological disease, metabolic disorders, and age. These findings highlight the lack of evidence for the harmful effects of laxatives on the colon, and thus, the benefits of treatment with stimulant laxatives, even in the long-term, should be reconsidered for the management of patients with constipation. Plain language summary: Do stimulant laxatives damage the gut? Stimulant laxatives are widely used treatments for constipation that work by causing the muscles in the gut to contract and so move stool more effectively. Examples of these treatments include senna, bisacodyl and sodium picosulfate. Treatments such as these are typically available without a doctor's prescription and have a long history of helping people relieve their constipation. However, some concerns have been expressed about the safety of these treatments, particularly when they are used for a long time. We did a critical review of published studies of the safety of stimulant laxatives to try to find out whether there is any strong evidence for harm being caused by these treatments. We found 43 papers with information on the gut safety of stimulant laxatives. These studies looked at whether the treatments are associated with changes to gut structure or function and at whether there might be a link between these treatments and bowel cancer. Unfortunately, many of the studies were of poor quality. For instance, they did not look for things, in addition to the laxatives, that could have affected the results, such as the age of the patients, other medications they were taking or whether they had other health conditions that might have affected the bowel. Also, the populations in which the studies were done differed a lot, so they were hard to compare with one another. However, we did not find any strong evidence suggesting that stimulant laxatives damage the gut or cause cancer. We therefore concluded that the harms associated with stimulant laxatives are likely to have been overstated, and that patients should not be denied the benefits of stimulant laxatives for constipation, especially as they have been on the market for a very long time with no serious problems emerging. Hyperspectral imaging systems (HSIs) are becoming widespread in the mining industry for mineral classification. The spectral features detectable from near infrared to long-wave infrared make HSIs a potentially efficient tool for exploration, clay mapping, and leach pad modeling. However, the redundancy of hyperspectral data makes the analysis of hyperspectral images complicated and slow. Many researchers have proposed different algorithms and strategies to speed up processing and increase accuracy. These procedures rely on endmember extraction as one of the critical steps. However, no one has tested whether endmember extraction actually improves accuracy under all circumstances. Eliminating endmember extraction, if possible, would speed up the analysis of hyperspectral data. This study tested whether endmember extraction improves the accuracy and efficiency of mapping materials at leach pads, which are among the most complicated situations in mining environments. We compared the accuracy of abundance maps produced with fully constrained least squares (FCLS) (a) with endmember extraction by N-FINDR and (b) without endmember extraction, using a spectral library instead. The results from endmember extraction showed lower accuracy than the results from using a spectral library, probably because the spectral data were noisy and the scanned materials were mixtures. The application of FCLS to hyperspectral images provides useful information for metallurgists. The abundance maps showed that kaolinite, muscovite, and precipitation (hexahydrite and pickeringite) were the dominant minerals on the leach pad. The abundance maps of pipes and precipitation can be used to monitor leaching conditions. Lixiviant ponds mapped out in the abundance map of water can indicate saturation. This technique can also detect organic leakage and agglomeration effectiveness, but it will need different wavelength ranges and more future study. This paper argues that there is a need to critically assess bias in the representations of older adults in the field of Human–Robot Interaction. This need stems from the recognition that technology development is a socially constructed process that has the potential to reinforce problematic understandings of older adults. Based on a qualitative content analysis of 96 academic publications, this paper indicates that older adults are represented as; frail by default, independent by effort; silent and technologically illiterate; burdensome; and problematic for society. Within these documents, few counternarratives are present that do not take such essentialist representations. In these texts, the goal of social robots in elder care is to "enable" older adults to "better" themselves. The older body is seen as "fixable" with social robots, reinforcing an ageist and neoliberal narrative: older adults are reduced to potential care receivers in ways that shift care responsibilities away from the welfare state onto the individual. This brief communication is the outcome of the prevailing confusion and the role of editors of several prestigious journals published in India in different disciplines of science and social science including the discipline of library and information science. These journals use different Plagiarism Detection Tools (PDTs) or Plagiarism Detection Software (PDS) to assess the similarity score of the submitted manuscript. These PDTs are helpful to avoid questions raised on the academic integrity of the submitted manuscript. For every submission, the editor of the journal generates a similarity report and communicates the results of the similarity index to the scholars verbatim. It is not judicious for the editor of the journal to simply rely on the percentage of similarity index suggested by the PDT. Human intervention is required to rule out the facts by a thorough inspection of every single matching. Also, an acceptable percentage of similarity for a manuscript needs a critical analysis. Based on the set guidelines of the academic regulatory bodies, an acceptable percentage of similarity for a manuscript is considered as minor or level 0 if it is 10%. The present communication draws attention towards this malice as a lot of time of the author/scholar is devoted to incorporate small changes which do not serve any useful purpose to the manuscript and the journal. Background: Forced displacement is a crucial determinant of poor health. With 31 people displaced every minute worldwide, this is an important global issue. Addressing this, the Participation Revolution workstream from the World Humanitarian Summit's Localisation commitments has gained traction in attempting to improve the effectiveness of humanitarian aid. Simultaneously, digital health initiatives have become increasingly ubiquitous tools in crises to deliver humanitarian assistance and address health burdens. Objective: This scoping review explores how the localisation agenda's commitment to participation has been adopted within digital health interventions used by displaced people in low-and-middle-income countries. Methods: This review adopted the Arksey and O'Malley approach and searched five academic databases and three online literature repositories with a Population, Concept and Context inclusion criteria. Data were synthesised and analysed through a critical power lens from the perspective of displaced people in low-and-middle-income-countries. Results: 27 papers demonstrated that a heterogeneous group of health issues were addressed through various digital health initiatives, principally through the use of mobile phones. The focus of the literature lay largely within technical connectivity and feasibility assessments, leaving a gap in understanding potential health implications. The varied conceptualisation of the localisation phenomenon has implications for the future of participatory humanitarian action: Authorship of reviewed literature primarily descended from high-income countries exposing global power dynamics leading the narrative. However, power was not a central theme in the literature: Whilst authors acknowledged the benefit of local involvement, participatory activities were largely limited to informing content adaptations and functional modifications within pre-determined projects and objectives. Conclusion: With over 100 million people displaced globally, effective initiatives that meaningfully address health needs without perpetuating harmful inequalities are an essential contribution to the humanitarian arena. The gap in health outcomes evidence, the limited constructions of health, and the varying and nuanced digital divide factors are all indicators of unequal power in the digital health sphere. More needs to be done to address these gaps meaningfully, and more meaningful participation could be a crucial undertaking to achieve this. What3Words is a geocoding application that uses triples of words instead of alphanumeric coordinates to identify locations. What3Words has grown rapidly in popularity over the past few years and is used in logistical applications worldwide, including by emergency services. What3Words has also attracted criticism for being less reliable than claimed, in particular that the chance of confusing one address with another is high. This paper investigates these claims and shows that the What3Words algorithm for assigning addresses to grid boxes creates many pairs of confusable addresses, some of which are quite close together. The COVID-19 pandemic revealed significant gaps in institutions' ability to maintain education under crisis conditions, which is now commonly referred to as Emergency Remote Teaching (ERT). A critical analysis of the literature reveals that ERT is a label that does not differentiate adequately between the different ways ERT manifested worldwide and over time. In this conceptual paper, we analyze empirical research on remote teaching conducted over single, double, and three+ learning terms. Our analysis shows not only multiple possible phases of remote education but also different stages, scopes, and pathways between them. The proposed model in this paper can be used to analyze current literature, ground future research, and serve as a foundation for developing protocols and practices to proactively maintain education when exigent circumstances demand remote teaching over the short-, mid-, and long-term. Despite the development of increasingly efficient technologies and the ever-growing amount of available data from Building Automation Systems (BAS) and connected devices, buildings are still far from reaching their performance potential due to inadequate controls and suboptimal operation sequences. Advanced control methods such as model-based controls or model-based predictive controls (MPC) are widely acknowledged as effective solutions for improving building operation. Although they have been well-investigated in the past, their widespread adoption has yet to be reached. Based on our experience in this field, this paper aims to provide a broader perspective on research trends on advanced controls in the built environment to researchers and practitioners, as well as to newcomers in the field. Pressing challenges are explored, such as inefficient local controls (which must be addressed in priority) and data availability and quality (not as good as expected, despite the advent of the digital era). Other major hurdles that slow down the large-scale adoption of advanced controls include communication issues with BAS and lack of guidelines and standards tailored for controls. To encourage their uptake, cost-effective solutions and successful case studies are required, which need to be further supported by better training and engagement between the industry and research communities. This paper also discusses promising opportunities: while building modelling is already playing a critical role, data-driven methods and data analytics are becoming a popular option to improve buildings controls. High-performance local and supervisory controls have emerged as promising solutions. Energy flexibility appears instrumental in achieving decarbonization targets in the built environment. This paper presents a survey of advanced concepts and research perspectives, of a philosophical-mathematical approach to describe the dynamics of systems of many interacting living entities. The first part introduces the general conceptual framework. Then, a critical analysis of the existing literature is developed and referred to a multiscale view of a mathematics of living organisms. This paper attempts to understand how far the present state-of-the-art is far from the achievement of such challenging objective.
