AIM: To evaluate the effectiveness of intravitreal bevacizumab(IVB)and ranibizumab(IVR)for the treatment of type 1 retinopathy of prematurity(ROP)by Meta-analysis.METHODS: The PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, the Cochrane Library, CNKI, CQVIP, CBM, OVID and Wanfang were systematically searched. All comparative studies of IVB or IVR as treatment for ROP were included. Two independent reviewers performed the date extraction and assessed study quality. Meta-analysis was performed using Review Manager 5.3 software. The retreatment rate was defined as the primary outcome. Secondary outcomes were prevalence of complete vascularization and myopic(spherical equivalent, SE).RESULTS: Eight non-randomized studies, including a total of 885 eyes were included in this study. Compared with IVB-treated children, IVR-treated children have higher retreatment rate [OR=0.55, 95% CI:0.34-0.88, P0.05].CONCLUSION: Both IVR and IVB can complete the vasculization of the retina in the treatment of type 1 ROP, but the two treatments have their own advantages. IVR has little effect on the refractive effect in children, but its effect in reducing the retreatment rate is worse than IVB.

Polyamines are ubiquitous in almost all biological entities and involved in various crucial physiological processes. They are also closely associated with the onset and progression of many diseases. Polyaminopathies are a group of rare genetic disorders caused by alterations in the function of proteins within the polyamine metabolism network. Although the identified polyaminopathies are all rare diseases at present, they are genetically heritable, rendering high risks not only to the carriers but also to their descendants. Meanwhile, more polyaminopathic patients might be discovered with the increasing accessibility of gene sequencing. This review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the structural variations of mutated proteins in current polyaminopathies, in addition to their causative genes, types of mutations, clinical symptoms, and therapeutic approaches. We focus on analyzing how alterations in protein structure lead to protein dysfunction, thereby facilitating the onset of diseases. We hope this review will offer valuable insights and references for the future clinical diagnosis and precision treatment of polyaminopathies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Fabrication of versatile hydrogels in a facile and effective manner represents a pivotal challenge in the field of biomaterials. Herein, a novel strategy is presented for preparing on‐demand degradable hydrogels with multilevel responsiveness. By employing selenol‐dichlorotetrazine nucleophilic aromatic substitution (SNAr) to synthesize hydrogels under mild conditions in a buffer solution, the necessity of additives or posttreatments can be obviated. The nucleophilic and redox reactions between selenol and tetrazine culminate in the formation of three degradable chemical bonds—diselenide, aryl selenide, and dearomatized selenide—in a single, expeditious step. The resultant hydrogel manifests exceptional adaptability to intricate environments in conjunction with self‐healing and on‐demand degradation properties. Furthermore, the resulting material demonstrated light‐triggered antibacterial activity. Animal studies further underscore the potential of integrating metformin into Se‐Tz hydrogels under green light irradiation, as it effectively stimulates angiogenesis and collagen deposition, thereby fostering efficient wound healing. In comparison to previously documented hydrogels, Se‐Tz hydrogels exhibit controlled degradation and drug release, outstanding antibacterial activity, mechanical robustness, and bioactivity, all without the need for costly and intricate preparation procedures. Objective To compare the teaching quality between traditional and SOP (standard operation procedure)-based orthopedic teaching rounds. Methods Postgraduates and clinical postdoctors who were enrolled into orthopedic standardized training in 2017 and 2018 grade were included in this study. Thirty postgraduates and 20 clinical post doctors were in each group, with traditional or SOP-based teaching rounds were used respectively. The two groups were evaluated subjectively and objectively. Results The subjective and Objective evaluation scores of SOP-based teaching rounds were significantly higher than those of the traditional teaching group (P＜0.01,P＜0.05). Conclusions SOP-based method significantly improves the quality of teaching rounds.

We investigate the thermal transport properties of NbN by considering three-phonon scattering (3ph), four-phonon scattering (4ph), electron-phonon (ep) scattering, and isotope (iso) scattering. By considering 4ph scattering, we find that 4ph scattering has less effect on the lattice thermal conductivity (κph) within 3-9 THz, while ep scattering has a greater effect on κph which is close to 3ph scattering in this frequency range. When the pressure is increased to 15 GPa, the κph by 148%, which is due to the decrease of the scattering phase space resulting in an increase of phonon relaxation time. We find that the κph of NbN is close to 100 W/mK, which is a potential high thermal conductivity material.

Background: Patients who underwent knee joint arthroplasty were at risk of venous thromboembolic events (VTEs), however, less studies were conducted to demonstrate the epidemiology and risk factors of deep venous thrombosis (DVT) following unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA). Objective of this study was to explore the incidence and prognostic factors of DVT after UKA. Methods: Patients who underwent primary UKA from December 2018 to June 2022 were recruited in this study. Demographic characteristics, operation related variables and laboratory index were extracted and analyzed. Receiver operating characteristic analysis was performed to detect the optimum cut-off value for variables of interest. Univariate and multivariate logistic analysis were performed to identify risk factors of DVT. Results: 351 UKAs with a mean age of 65.4 ± 7.1 years were reviewed. After 12.9 ± 11.2 months follow-up, 35 DVTs were confirmed which indicating an incidence of 9.9%. The results showed that occupation (agricultural laborer) (P = 0.008), disease duration > 8.5 years (P = 0.035), operation time > 169 min (P = 0.003), intraoperative blood loss > 102 ml (P < 0.001), BMI > 26.8 kg/m 2 (P = 0.001), preoperative D-dimer > 0.29 mg/L (P = 0.001), prothrombin time < 10.7 s (P = 0.033) and INR < 0.98 (P = 0.032) between DVT and Non-DVT group were significantly different. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed intraoperative blood loss > 102 ml (OR, 3.707; P, 0.001), BMI > 26.8 kg/m 2 (OR, 4.664; P, 0.004) and D-dimer > 0.29 mg/L (OR, 2.882; P, 0.009) were independent risk factors of DVT after UKA. Conclusion: The incidence of DVT in the present study was 9.9%, extensive intraoperative blood loss, advanced BMI and high level of D-dimer would increase the risk of lower extremity thrombosis by 2–4 times.
