Concentration plays an essential role in generating hydroxyl radicals in irradiated nanoenhancer suspensions. In this paper, we used coumarin-3-carboxylic acid as a hydroxyl radical-specific probe to investigate the hydroxyl radical production of different concentration nanodiamonds (NDs) and CeO2 NPs in phosphate-buffered saline under x-ray irradiation. NDs significantly enhanced hydroxyl radical production, and the maximum enhancement of hydroxyl radical production was observed at a concentration of 10 µg/ml, with an enhanced factor of 1.398 ± 0.262. CeO2 NPs can increase and scavenge hydroxyl radicals at different concentration ranges, with the lowest and highest enhanced factors of 0.623 ± 0.069 and 1.738 ± 0.264, respectively. We tested the hydrodynamic diameter at various concentrations to explore the concentration effect further. We found that with increasing concentration, there might be factors, such as hydroxyl radical recombination and nanoparticle agglomeration, that lead to changes in the enhancement factor. Based on the data from previous and present studies, the experimental results indicate that the concentration factor is essential for hydroxyl radical generation in nanoenhancer suspensions under ionizing radiation. We also provide possible mechanisms for enhancing hydroxyl radical production by nanoenhancers in water under ionizing radiation and the decrease in enhancement factor at high concentrations of nanoenhancers. This paper investigates the capability of plain Vision Transformers (ViTs) for semantic segmentation using the encoder–decoder framework and introduce SegViTv2. In this study, we introduce a novel Attention-to-Mask (ATM) module to design a lightweight decoder effective for plain ViT. The proposed ATM converts the global attention map into semantic masks for high-quality segmentation results. Our decoder outperforms popular decoder UPerNet using various ViT backbones while consuming only about 5 % of the computational cost. For the encoder, we address the concern of the relatively high computational cost in the ViT-based encoders and propose a Shrunk++ structure that incorporates edge-aware query-based down-sampling (EQD) and query-based up-sampling (QU) modules. The Shrunk++ structure reduces the computational cost of the encoder by up to 50 % while maintaining competitive performance. Furthermore, we propose to adapt SegViT for continual semantic segmentation, demonstrating nearly zero forgetting of previously learned knowledge. Experiments show that our proposed SegViTv2 surpasses recent segmentation methods on three popular benchmarks including ADE20k, COCO-Stuff-10k and PASCAL-Context datasets. Northern China faces water scarcity, restricting water usage in place across Inner Mongolia's western region. The integrated irrigation and fertilization model for sugar beet is undergoing rapid development and application in production. However, there is a concerning trend in production where the frequency of irrigation and fertilization is being increased blindly, resulting in the wastage of valuable water and fertilizer resources. Limiting water and fertilizer usage is an effective approach to improve sugar beet production efficiency. Sugar beets are a significant sugar crop in China. A split-plot design was employed to examine the impact of reducing water and fertilizer use on sucrose metabolism in sugar beet root. Our study was performed at the Ulanqab Institute of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences in Inner Mongolia from 2022 to 2023. Three levels of fertilization and irrigation were utilized. We investigated the interactions between irrigation and fertilization on sucrose accumulation in sugar beet root. We examined key enzyme activities involved in sucrose metabolism alongside their gene expression levels. The findings suggested that reducing irrigation by 15%, fertilization by 10%, or both irrigation by 15% and fertilization by 10%, increased sucrose concentrations of sugar beets compared to the control group administered conventional water and fertilizer. Over the two-year period, the average sucrose concentration increased by 0.45, 0.57, and 0.65 degrees, respectively, under each treatment. Subsequent research verified that appropriately reducing water and fertilizer can regulate the expression of enzyme genes, thus influencing enzyme activity. Moreover, due to the higher efficiency of enzyme synthesis compared to decomposition, it contributed to an increase in net enzyme activity. These findings suggest that an appropriate reduction of water and fertilizer can improve sucrose synthesis rates and increase the sucrose concentration in sugar beets, providing a theoretical basis for environmentally friendly generation and enhanced efficiency in sugar beet growth. Cu-Be alloys exhibit excellent comprehensive performance in electrics, thermotics, and mechanics, and hence, they attract much attention. Among them, low-Be copper alloys are more environmentally friendly and promising. This study explores the effects of different Ni contents and heat treatment parameters on the properties, microstructures, and precipitates of Cu-0.2 wt% Be-x wt% Ni (0 < x < 2.0) alloys. The experimental results demonstrate that the fast cooling rate of cast alloys during solidification contributes to retention of the solute atoms in the copper matrix, which is beneficial for subsequent solid solution treatment. Furthermore, solid solution treatment slightly reduces the electrical conductivities, microhardness values, and compressive yield strengths of Cu-0.2 wt% Be-1.0/1.6 wt% Ni alloys. The optimal solution temperature and time are about 925 ℃ and 60 min, respectively. Aging treatment significantly increases the electrical conductivities, microhardness values, and compressive yield strengths of Cu-0.2 wt% Be-1.0/1.6 wt% Ni alloys. The best aging temperature is around 450 ℃. However, the properties of Cu-0.2 wt%Be-0.4 wt%Ni alloys remain unaffected by solution and aging treatments. Around x = 1.0, Cu-0.2 wt% Be-x wt% Ni alloys possess the best comprehensive properties, which are about 72%IACS of electrical conductivity, 241 HV of microhardness, and 281MPa of compressive yield strength, respectively. TEM and EDS analyses reveal that the precipitate evolution of Cu-0.2 wt% Be-1.0 wt% Ni alloys with aging time is GP zones → γ″ → γ′. Notably, a distinct double-peak age strengthening phenomenon emerges with Cu-0.2 wt% Be-1.0/1.6 wt% Ni alloys. The precipitation of plenty of GP zones at the early stage of aging should account for the first strengthening peak, and the strengthening mechanism transformation of the γ″ or γ′ phase from shear to Orowan should induce the second strengthening peak. Precise charge transfer modification and efficient activation of peroxymonosulfate are effective methods for increasing photocatalytic efficiency. Here, BiOBr/MnCo 2 O 4 photocatalysts with abundant Mn-Br bonds were generated by immobilizing the exposed {1 1 0} facets of BiOBr in the marigold-like MnCo 2 O 4. The prepared BiOBr/MnCo 2 O 4 retained the marigold-like morphology of MnCo 2 O 4 while exhibiting good adsorption properties and interface contact effects. More importantly, the interfacial Mn-Br bond between MnCo 2 O 4 and BiOBr functioned as charge transport bridges, allowing for a directional transfer channel and lowering the potential energy barrier for interfacial charge transfer. In addition, the exposure of the {1 1 0} facets exhibited more Mn atom-anchored sites for easy anchoring of BiOBr, significantly solving the stability problem of the bismuth material. Compared to MnCo 2 O 4 + BiOBr, which did not form Mn-Br bonds, the MnCo 2 O 4 /BiOBr heterojunction had more efficient photocatalytic activity (1.3 times) and stability. Human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) have become an ideal cell source for the ex vivo generation of megakaryocyte (MK) and platelet products for clinical applications. However, an ongoing challenge is to establish scalable culture systems to maximize the yield of stem cell‐derived MKs that release platelets. We defined a specific dynamic 3D manufacturing system in a baffled‐flow manner that could remarkably facilitate megakaryopoiesis and increase the yield of platelet‐producing MKs from hESCs within a 12‐day induction period. Additionally, an increased number of >16N ploidy MKs, proplatelets, and platelets were generated from induced cells harvested on Day 12 using the specific dynamic culture method. The specific dynamic culture method significantly enhanced endothelium‐to‐haematopoietic transition and early haematopoiesis. More importantly, MK fate was significantly facilitated in a specific dynamic manner during early haematopoiesis. Mechanistically, this dynamic culture significantly enhanced mitochondrial function via the oxidative phosphorylation pathway and caused differentiation skewing of hESCs toward megakaryopoiesis. This study can aid in the automatic and scalable production of MKs from stem cells using baffled‐flow bioreactors and assist in the manufacturing of hESC‐derived MK and platelet products. The proliferation of smart devices in the 5G era of industrial IoT (IIoT) produces significant traffic data, some of which is encrypted malicious traffic, creating a significant problem for malicious traffic detection. Malicious traffic classification is one of the most efficient techniques for detecting malicious traffic. Although it is a labor-intensive and time-consuming process to gather large labeled datasets, the majority of prior studies on the classification of malicious traffic use supervised learning approaches and provide decent classification results when a substantial quantity of labeled data is available. This paper proposes a semi-supervised learning approach for classifying malicious IIoT traffic. The approach utilizes the encoder–decoder model framework to classify the traffic, even with a limited amount of labeled data available. We sample and normalize the data during the data-processing stage. In the semi-supervised model-building stage, we first pre-train a model on a large unlabeled dataset. Subsequently, we transfer the learned weights to a new model, which is then retrained using a small labeled dataset. We also offer an edge intelligence model that considers aspects such as computation latency, transmission latency, and privacy protection to improve the model's performance. To achieve the lowest total latency and to reduce the risk of privacy leakage, we first create latency and privacy-protection models for each local, edge, and cloud. Then, we optimize the total latency and overall privacy level. In the study of IIoT malicious traffic classification, experimental results demonstrate that our method reduces the model training and classification time with 97.55% accuracy; moreover, our approach boosts the privacy-protection factor. PbZrO3 (PZO)‐based antiferroelectric thin films are of great interest due to their high‐power density and fast charging and discharging capability. However, the problems of low breakdown strength and inferior energy storage density of PZO films have not been well solved. In this work, the insulating MgO as the blocking interlayer is inserted into PbZrO3 films (abbreviated as P/M/P), which can inhibit the electric charge transfer and enhance the breakdown strength, as well as regulation of the polarization behavior. The results show that the maximal endurable electric field is significantly improved, and the double‐hysteresis characteristic disappeared after introducing MgO blocking interlayer. The energy storage density of P/M/P films reaches 21.97 J/cm3 under 1700 kV/cm, accompanying an ultralow efficiency of 44.01% due to the severe polarization loss. Furthermore, low‐temperature annealing is performed to suppress the polarization loss, and an energy storage density of 17.27 J/cm3 accompanying a high efficiency of 75.53% is obtained at 3100 kV/cm, still exhibiting good stability after 1 × 107 fatigue cycles. This study demonstrates that combining the insulating interlayer and the low‐temperature annealing endow the PZO‐based films significantly improved energy storage properties, having great potential to be used in the dielectric capacitors. Each year, underwater remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) collect thousands of hours of video of unexplored ocean habitats revealing a plethora of information regarding biodiversity on Earth. However, fully utilizing this information remains a challenge as proper annotations and analysis require trained scientists' time, which is both limited and costly. To this end, we present a Dataset for Underwater Substrate and Invertebrate Analysis (DUSIA), a benchmark suite and growing large-scale dataset to train, validate, and test methods for temporally localizing four underwater substrates as well as temporally and spatially localizing 59 underwater invertebrate species. DUSIA currently includes over ten hours of footage across 25 videos captured in 1080p at 30 fps by an ROV following pre-planned transects across the ocean floor near the Channel Islands of California. Each video includes annotations indicating the start and end times of substrates across the video in addition to counts of species of interest. Some frames are annotated with precise bounding box locations for invertebrate species of interest, as seen in Fig. 1. To our knowledge, DUSIA is the first dataset of its kind for deep sea exploration, with video from a moving camera, that includes substrate annotations and invertebrate species that are present at significant depths where sunlight does not penetrate. Additionally, we present the novel context-driven object detector (CDD) where we use explicit substrate classification to influence an object detection network to simultaneously predict a substrate and species class influenced by that substrate. We also present a method for improving training on partially annotated bounding box frames. Finally, we offer a baseline method for automating the counting of invertebrate species of interest. Chaos has been one of the most effective cryptographic sources since it was first used in image-encryption algorithms. This paper closely examines the development process of chaos-based image-encryption algorithms from various angles, including symmetric and asymmetric algorithms, block ciphers and stream ciphers, and integration with other technologies. The unique attributes of chaos, such as sensitivity to initial conditions, topological transitivity, and pseudo-randomness, are conducive to cross-referencing with other disciplines and improving image-encryption methods. Additionally, this paper covers practical application scenarios and current challenges of chaotic image encryption, thereby encouraging researchers to continue developing and complementing existing situations, and may also serve as a basis of future development prospects for chaos-based image encryption. Microplastics (MPs) are receiving increasing attention because of their potential harm to the environment and human health. This research aims to summarize the abundance, toxicological effects, and analysis methods of MPs, as well as present their current status and trends in scientific research. Bibliometric analysis confirmed a substantial rise in annual research papers on MPs, predominantly over the previous nine years. The central research areas relating to MPs include distribution, sources, toxic effects, analytical approaches, and adsorption of MPs with other pollutants. Airborne MPs are a primary source of microplastic pollution in remote areas. Humans may inhale and ingest MPs, leading to the accumulation of these particles in their bodies. Additionally, microplastics can have biological toxicity that poses a potential threat to human health. Standard procedures for sampling and both qualitative and quantitative analysis of microplastics in various environmental media must be established urgently to enable effective comparison of experimental conclusions. Background: While previous studies primarily focused on the structure of the normal whole mouse lung, the whole bronchus and cytoarchitectural details of the mouse intact lung lobe have been discovered at single-cell resolution. Revealing the sophisticated lung adenocarcinoma structure at three-dimensional (3D) and single-cell level remains a fundamental and critical challenge for the pathological mechanism research of lung adenocarcinoma (LA). Methods: Fluorescence micro-optical Sectioning Tomography (fMOST) combined with PI staining were used to obtain the 3D imaging of the human LA tissue at single-cell resolution. Results: With a spatial resolution of 0.32 × 0.32 × 1.0 μm3, the dataset of human LA with single-cell precision consists of two channels, each of which contains information about the bronchi and the cytoarchitecture. The bronchial wall is thicker and the lumen is smaller in the cancer tissue, in which its original normal structure is vanished. More solid components, more clustered cancer cells with larger nucleoli, and more significant atypia are found in cancer tissue. In paracancerous tissue, the bronchial wall cells have a monolayer or bilayer structure, cluster along the wall, and are relatively dispersed. Few fibrous structures and occasional dissemination of spread through air spaces (STAS) are observed. Conclusions: Based on the human LA tissue dataset obtained by fMOST and PI staining, the bronchi and cells were reconstructed and visualized. This work provides a technical roadmap for studying the bronchus and cytoarchitectural structure and their spatial relationship in LA tissue, which may help with the understanding of the main histological structure of LA among pathologists. This study presents a chromosome-level reference genome assembly of a traditional Tibetan medicinal plant, Herpetospermum pedunculosum belonging to the Cucurbitaceae family. Following a combined PacBio high-fidelity sequencing and Hi-C analysis, a final H. pedunculosum genome assembly, 804.11 Mb in length was obtained, 90.45% of which was anchored into ten pseudochromosomes with a contig N50 of 24.39 Mb. In addition, 579.55 Mb repetitive sequences and 23,924 high-confidence protein-coding genes were annotated. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that H. pedunculosum was sister to a clade formed by cucumber, zucchini, and wax gourd. Further whole-genome duplication analysis revealed no recent polyploidization event in the H. pedunculosum genome. The high-quality H. pedunculosum genome presented here will be highly useful in investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying the biosynthesis of its active compounds and adaptation strategies to the extreme environment. In this paper, Bi2212 films were prepared on LaAlO 3 (100) and SrTiO 3 (100) substrates by the sol-gel method using Bi(NO 3) 3 ·5H 2 O, Sr(NO 3) 2 , Ca(NO 3) 2 ·4H 2 O and Cu(NO 3) 2 ·3H 2 O as raw materials. TritonX-100 (TX-100), fatty alcohol poly oxyethylene ether (AEO-9), poly (vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP) and poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) were used as surfactants, respectively, to improve the wettability between the sol and the substrate. When glycine and glycolic acid were used as complexing agents, these surfactants were stably miscible with the sols. The effects of different surfactant sol-gel systems on the wettability of substrates as well as the crystallinity, morphology, surface roughness and electrical transport properties of Bi2212 superconducting films were investigated. The results showed that flat and continuous c -axis epitaxial Bi2212 films were obtained using all these sol-gel systems. In particular, TX-100 and AEO-9 as surfactants showed stronger wettability of the sol-gel for both substrates. In addition, the films prepared using polymer surfactants PVP and PVA sol-gel systems showed less surface roughness. The same patterns were found in all the film samples prepared using precursor sols of different complexing agents, and all the films exhibited good electrical transport properties. This work lays a certain research foundation for the preparation of thin films by aqueous solvent sol-gel method. Solid-free drilling fluid has more advantages as a new type of drilling fluid compared with traditional drilling fluid, such as improving drilling efficiency, protecting oil and not having clay particles clog the oil and gas layer. In this study, Zn/Cu/Fe-doped magnesium–aluminum hydroxide (Mg-Al MMH) was prepared using the co-precipitation method and evaluated in solid-free drilling fluid. The inhibition mechanism of synthesized hydroxide was analyzed by X-ray diffraction, laser particle-size analysis and thermogravimetric analysis. The samples were directly used as drilling fluid base muds for performance evaluation. The results showed that the linear expansion rate of 4% M6-Fe was only 12.32% at room temperature within 2 h, that the linear expansion rate was 20.28% at 90 °C and that the anti-swelling rate was 81.16% at room temperature, indicating that it has a strong inhibition ability at both room temperature and at high temperatures. Meanwhile, the possibility of multi-mixed metal hydroxide as a drilling fluid base mud is discussed in this study. We found that 4% M6-Fe exhibited low viscosity, a high YP/PV ratio and high temperature resistance, and its apparent viscosity retention rate reached 100% rolled at 200 °C for 16 h, with a YP/PV ratio of 2.33. Integrated Motor Drives (IMDs) have recently received extensive attention. In electric vehicles (EVs), electric propulsion aircraft, and ship propulsion systems, integrated motors have the great potential to replace traditional motors with the distinct merits of compact size, high power density, high efficiency, and high-cost effectiveness. This paper investigates and reviews integrated motor drives' development and critical technologies. It not only reveals the research progress of the motor structure, converter, volume optimization, heat dissipation design, and weakening electromagnetic interference of integrated motor drives but also explores in detail the applications of wide-bandgap semiconductors and the integration of LCL filters. In addition, this paper also puts forward the concept of integrated motor drive integration level and establishes a corresponding quantitative method to evaluate IMDs integration level. In the future, integrated wireless motor drives will have a broad scope of research and application. IMDs systems will play an important role in applications requiring high power density, providing solutions to motor system size and heat dissipation problems. Cardiac rehabilitation (CR) requires more professional exercise modalities to improve the efficiency of treatment. Adaptive posture-balance cardiac rehabilitation exercise (APBCRE) is an emerging, balance-based therapy from clinical experience, but lacks evidence of validity. Our study aimed to observe and assess the rehabilitation effect of APBCRE on patients with cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). All participants received one-month APBCRE therapy evenly three times per week and two assessments before and after APBCRE. Each assessment included cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET), resting metabolic rate (RMR) detection, and three questionnaires about general health. The differences between two assessments were analyzed to evaluate the therapeutic effects of APBCRE. A total of 93 participants (80.65% male, 53.03 ± 12.02 years) were included in the analysis. After one-month APBCRE, oxygen uptake (VO2, 11.16 ± 2.91 to 12.85 ± 3.17 mL/min/kg, p < 0.01) at anaerobic threshold (AT), ventilation (VE, 28.87 ± 7.26 to 32.42 ± 8.50 mL/min/kg, p < 0.01) at AT, respiratory exchange ratio (RER, 0.93 ± 0.06 to 0.95 ± 0.05, p < 0.01) at AT and oxygen uptake efficiency slope (OUES, 1426.75 ± 346.30 to 1547.19 ± 403.49, p < 0.01) significantly improved in CVD patients. The ≤55-year group had more positive improvements (VO2 at AT, 23% vs. 16%; OUES, 13% vs. 6%) compared with the >55-year group. Quality of life was also increased after APBCRE (47.78 ± 16.74 to 59.27 ± 17.77, p < 0.001). This study proved that APBCRE was a potentially available exercise rehabilitation modality for patients with CVDs, which performed significant increases in physical tolerance and quality of life, especially for ≤55-year patients. The complexed sol-gel method has unique advantages in the preparation of multi-component functional thin films. In this paper, Bi2212 superconducting thin films were prepared by sol-gel method on SrTiO 3 (100) single crystal substrates. Glycine and glycolic acid were used as complexing agents. The thermal decomposition processes of the two sols were analyzed by contrasting thermal-thermogravimetric curves. The heat treatment processes of the different complexing agent systems were optimized to obtain films with flatter surface morphology. The phase composition of the intermediate products during the precursor heat treatment was changed by adjusting the conditions of the complexing agent and the acidity of the sol, which expanded the pure phase temperature interval of the final product. The pure phase temperature interval, morphology, surface roughness, and electrical transport properties of Bi2212 superconducting films prepared with different complexing agent sol-gel systems were investigated. When glycolic acid was used as the complexing agent, the Bi-2212 superconducting films showed the widest phase formation temperature zones of 25 K. They also had a smaller surface roughness of 10–15 nm. Other than that, all samples had good epitaxial properties, and electrical transport properties. This work provides a new idea for expanding the phase-forming temperature region of multicomponent functional ceramics. Evidence from previous epidemiological studies on the effect of physical activity on the risk of Alzheimer's disease (AD) is conflicting. We performed a two-sample Mendelian randomization analysis to verify whether physical activity is causally associated with AD. This study used two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to estimate the association between physical activity (including overall activity, sedentary behavior, walking, and moderate-intensity activity) and AD. Genetic instruments for physical activity were obtained from published genome-wide association studies (GWAS) including 91,105 individuals from UK Biobank. Summary-level GWAS data were extracted from the International Genomics of Alzheimer's Project IGAP (21,982 patients with AD and 41,944 controls). Inverse Variance Weighted (IVW) was used to estimate the effect of physical activity on AD. Sensitivity analyses including weighted median, MR-Egger, MR-PRESSO, and leave-one-out analysis were used to estimate pleiotropy and heterogeneity. Mendelian randomization evidences suggested a protective relationship between walking and AD (odds ratio (OR) = 0.30, 95% confidence interval (CI), 0.13–0.68, P = 0.0039). Genetically predicted overall activity, sedentary behavior, and moderate-intensity activity were not associated with AD. In summary, this study provided evidence that genetically predicted walking might associate with a reduced risk of AD. This paper utilizes Bayesian network (BN) structure searching and scoring algorithms to identify critical nodes and investigate their reliability interdependencies for a power system under great converter penetration. As more converters are integrated into the system, reliability interactions among various converters will frequently emerge and consequently introduce system reliability concerns. However, reliability causal relations have rarely been explored and demonstrated in a clear manner. Therefore, the authors apply BN structure searching and scoring algorithms to visualize the proposed converter‐based BN structure. Moreover, reliability interactions among different nodes are quantified through information entropy theory. Numerical case studies illustrate the causal reliability relationship among various nodes while considering the reliability of all integrated converters. Deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) have been proposed as enhanced developments of neural networks (NNs) in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and successfully applied in deep learning (DL) scenarios. With the advancement of technology, the number of network layers has continuously increased, resulting in a huge number of calculations and memory accesses required in the training and inference process of DCNNs and thereby hindering their further deployment and application. Using a specific dataflow formed by reusable DCNN data in the network-on-chip (NoC), reducing the memory access pressure and improving DCNN processing efficiency has become a promising acceleration scheme for the current DCNN. In this article, a novel convolution layer (CONV) acceleration strategy based on logical PE set segmentation for row stationary (RS) dataflow is proposed to solve the problems of low flexibility and inefficient processing array utilization faced by the conventional folding mapping strategy. The simulation results show that the new mapping strategy based on PE set segmentation can achieve better processing element utilization and CONV acceleration improvement at the expense of little increase in the data movement energy consumption compared with the conventional strategy. 'Requirements for human haematopoietic stem/progenitor cells' is the first set of guidelines on human haematopoietic stem/progenitor cells in China, jointly drafted and agreed upon by experts from the Chinese Society for Stem Cell Research. This standard specifies the technical requirements, inspection methods, inspection rules, instructions for usage, labelling requirements, packaging requirements, storage requirements and transportation requirements for human haematopoietic stem/progenitor cells, which is applicable to the quality control for human haematopoietic stem/progenitor cells. We hope that publication of these guidelines will promote institutional establishment, acceptance and execution of proper protocols, and accelerate the international standardization of human haematopoietic stem/progenitor cells for applications. In this paper, mixed metal hydroxide (MMH) was prepared via MgCl2 and AlCl3 by the co-precipitation method and characterized by XRD, TGA laser and particle size analysis. The inhibitory effect of MMH on the swelling of clay was evaluated by linear expansion, mud ball, laser particle size analysis, X-ray diffraction analysis and TGA. The linear expansion experiment showed that MMH with a ratio of Mg:Al = 3:1 displayed a strong inhibitory effect on bentonite expansion when 0.3% MMH was added to the drilling fluid, demonstrating better inhibition than 4.0% KCl. Within 48 h, only a few cracks were visible on the mud ball surface in the 0.3% MMH suspension, which indicates that MMH can inhibit wet bentonite for deep hydration. X-ray diffraction and particle size analyses of bentonite were conducted before and after MMH was added to illustrate the inhibition. MMH also displayed high temperature resistance in water-based drilling fluid as a shear strength-improving agent, and its dynamic plastic ratio and shear force were stable after aging at 200 °C for 16 h. Lead-free ceramics have attracted considerable research attention owing to their environmentally friendly properties as well as their relatively good piezoelectric properties. Herein, we doped BiCoO 3 (BCO) onto (Bi 0.5 Na 0.5)TiO 3 –6BaTiO 3 (BNT-6BT) solid solution at various concentrations and investigated their dielectric and piezoelectric properties. After comparing the Rietveld refinement data with X-ray diffraction (XRD) results, it was found that all the BNT-6BT- x BCO ceramics (x = 0, 0.5%, 1%, and 1.5%) showed the morphotropic phase boundary conformation with coexisting tetragonal (P4bm) and cubic (Pm 3 (＿) m) phases. XRD refinement data also demonstrated that with increasing BCO concentration to 1.5%, the mole ratio between the tetragonal and cubic phases was close to 1:1, which enhanced the piezoelectric performance of the ceramic composites. At a BCO concentration of 1.5%, the strain and piezoelectric coefficient (d 33) of the sample reached 0.31% and 196 pC/N, respectively. The highest effective d 33 * of 489 pm/V was obtained at 110 °C with BNT-6BT-1.5BCO ceramics. The BNT-6BT-xBCO ceramics show great promise for use in high-temperature actuator applications. • The solubility of 4GABCL was determined for the first time. • The determination coefficients of mathematical model fitting are all greater than 0.999, which proves that the fitting effect is good. • The thermodynamic properties of mixing and dissolution were calculated using Wilson model and solubility data. The solubility of 4-guanidinobenzoic acid hydrochloride (4-GABCL) in pure solvents (H 2 O, methanol, ethanol, n-propanol, isopropanol, 1-butanol, and 1-pentanol) and two binary solvents (H 2 O + ethanol/isopropanol) were determined by the dynamic saturation method in the temperature range of 294.55 K–333.65 K under atmospheric pressure. From the measurement results, it could be observed that the solubility of 4-GABCL in both pure and binary solvents all increased with increasing temperature. The solubility order of 4-GABCL in pure solvents was ranked as follows: methanol > H 2 O > n-propanol > ethanol > n-butanol > isopropanol > n-pentanol. The solubility of 4-GABCL in binary solvents tended to increase and then decrease with increasing molar fractions of ethanol and isopropanol, and the solubility of the solute in the binary solvents was greater than that of each in the monosolvents. In addition, Ideal model, Apelblat model, λh model, Wilson model, and NRTL model had been used to correlate the solubility of 4-GABCL in pure and binary solvents. Correlated effects show that the Wilson model gives the best correlation. The influence of solvents on the solubility of 4-GABCL was further studied by KAT-LSER model. The results showed that the solubility was mainly affected by the polarizability and the self-viscosity of the solvent.The mixing and dissolution thermodynamic properties of 4-GABCL in all experimental solvents had been calculated and analyzed by using the Wilson equation and solvent data. It was determined that the mixing and dissolution of 4-GABCL were spontaneous, endothermic and entropy-driven in the study systems. Unconventional double-peak age strengthening phenomenon has occasionally been observed in some alloys, yet the underlying mechanism responsible for this phenomenon are still unclear. Here, we for the first time report the double-peak age strengthening phenomenon in the Cu–Be–Ni–Co alloys and try to unveil the underlying mechanism. Both the theoretical and experimental analyses demonstrate that the strong coherency strengthening effect of tiny nanoprecipitates (<1 nm) contributes significantly to the appearance of first peak, whereas the order-to-Orowan strengthening transformation accounts for the appearance of second peak. Moreover, the precipitate evolution processes of the alloys are identified as Guinier–Preston (GP) zones → γ′′→ γ′ and the light-mass Be atoms in the γ′ phase are directly made out by using integrated differential phase-contrast scanning transmission electron microscopy (iDPC-STEM) technology. [Display omitted] Mercury pollution is a significant threat to the environment and health worldwide. Therefore, effective and low-cost absorbents that are easily scalable are needed for real-world applications. Enlarging the surface area of the materials and doping with heteroatoms are two of the most common strategies to cope with this problem. Sulfur-doped activated carbon synthesized from the carbonization of inverse vulcanized thiopolymers makes it possible to combine both large specific surface area and doping of heteroatoms, resulting in outperformance in mercury uptake against commercial activated carbons. Convenient recovery of mercury absorbents after treatment should be beneficial in mercury collecting and recycling. Therefore, magnetic sulfur-doped carbons (MSCs) were prepared by functionalizing sulfur doped carbons through chemical precipitation with magnetic iron oxides. Besides the characterisations of materials, mercury uptake experiments, such as stactic test, capacity test, impact of solution pH, and mixed ions interferences were performed. These MSCs exhibit high specific surface area (1,329 m2/g), high sulfur content (up to 14.8 wt%), porous structure, low cost, and are convenient for retrieval. MSCs are demonstrated high uptake capacity (187 mg g-1) and efficiency in mercury solution and multifunctional absorption in mixed ions solution, showing their potential to be applied in water purification and environmental remediation. Background: Obesity is dramatically increasing worldwide, and more obese patients may develop aortic dissection and present for surgical repair. The study aims to analyse the impact of body mass index (BMI) on surgical outcomes in patients with acute Stanford type A aortic dissection (ATAAD).Methods: From January 2017 to June 2019, the clinical data of 268 ATAAD patients in a single centre were retrospectively reviewed. They were divided into three groups based on the BMI: normal weight (BMI 18.5 to < 25 kg/m2, n = 110), overweight (BMI 25 to < 30 kg/m2, n = 114) and obese (BMI ≥30 kg/m2, n = 44).Results: There was no statistical difference among the three groups in terms of the composite adverse events including 30-day mortality, stroke, paraplegia, renal failure, hepatic failure, reintubation or tracheotomy and low cardiac output syndrome (20.9% vs 21.9% vs 18.2% for normal, overweight and obese, respectively; P = 0.882). No significant difference was found in the mid-term survival among the three groups. The proportion of prolonged ventilation was highest in the obese group followed by the overweight and normal groups (59.1% vs 45.6% vs 34.5%, respectively; P = 0.017). Multivariable logistic regression analysis suggested that BMI was not associated with the composite adverse events, while BMI ≥30 kg/m2 was an independent risk factor for prolonged ventilation (OR 2.261; 95% CI 1.056-4.838; P = 0.036).Conclusions: BMI had no effect on the early major adverse outcomes and mid-term survival after surgery for ATAAD. Recent studies have shown that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are critical regulators in the central nervous system (CNS). However, their roles in the cerebellum are currently unclear. In this work, we identified the isoform 204 of lncRNA Gm2694 (designated as lncRNA-Promoting Methylation (lncRNA-PM)) is highly expressed in the cerebellum and derived from the antisense strand of the upstream region of Cerebellin-1 (Cbln1), a well-known critical cerebellar synaptic organizer. LncRNA-PM exhibits similar spatiotemporal expression pattern as Cbln1 in the postnatal mouse cerebellum and activates the transcription of Cbln1 through Pax6/Mll1-mediated H3K4me3. In mouse cerebellum, lncRNA-PM, Pax6/Mll1, and H3K4me3 are all associated with the regulatory regions of Cbln1. Knockdown of lncRNA-PM in cerebellum causes deficiencies in Cbln1 expression, cerebellar synaptic integrity, and motor function. Together, our work reveals an lncRNA-mediated transcriptional activation of Cbln1 through Pax6-Mll1-H3K4me3 and provides novel insights of the essential roles of lncRNA in the cerebellum. The long non-coding RNA lncRNA-PM activates transcription of the cerebellar synaptic organizer Cbln1 by promoting Pax6-Mll1-mediated H3K4me3 methylation, thereby helping to maintain cerebellar synaptic integrity and motor function. With the growing penetration of power electronic converters in power systems, the issue of reliability becomes more critical than ever before. This paper proposes a hierarchical reliability framework to evaluate the electric power system reliability from the power electronic converter level to the overall system level. On the converter level, the reliability model of a power electronic converter is developed based on the power electronic devices it is composed of, for which various hourly based input profiles and converter topologies are considered. On the system level, reliability metrics such as expected energy not served (EENS) and loss of load expectation (LOLE) are estimated through a non-sequential Monte Carlo simulation. Machine learning regression models, such as support vector regression (SVR), and random forests (RF) are implemented to bridge the nonlinear reliability relationship between two levels. The proposed framework is demonstrated through the modified IEEE Reliability Test System (RTS) 24-bus network. Objectives: Anti‐microbial peptides (AMPs) have been comprehensively investigated as a novel alternative to traditional antibiotics against microorganisms. Meanwhile, Tetrahedral DNA nanostructures (TDNs) have gained attention in the field of biomedicine for their premium biological effects and transportation efficiency as delivery vehicles. Hence, in this study, TDN/Histatin 5 (His‐5) was synthesized and the transport efficiency and anti‐fungal effect were measured to evaluate the promotion of His‐5 modified by TDNs. Materials and Methods: Tetrahedral DNA nanostructures/His‐5 complex was prepared via electrostatic attraction and characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE), dynamic light scattering (DLS) and electrophoretic light scattering (ELS). The anti‐fungal effect of the TDN/His‐5 complex was evaluated by determining the growth curve and colony‐forming units of C. albicans. The morphological transformation of C. albicans was observed by light microscope and scanning electron microscope (SEM). Immunofluorescence was performed, and potassium efflux was detected to mechanistically demonstrate the efficacy of TDN/His‐5. Results: The results showed that Histatin 5 modified by TDNs had preferable stability in serum and was effectively transported into C. albicans, leading to the increased formation of intracellular reactive oxygen species, higher potassium efflux and enhanced anti‐fungal effect against C. albicans. Conclusions: Our study showed that TDN/His‐5 was synthesized successfully. And by the modification of TDNs, His‐5 showed increased transport efficiency and improved anti‐fungal effect. Objectives: Ex vivo engineered production of megakaryocytes (MKs) and platelets (PLTs) from human pluripotent stem cells is an alternative approach to solve shortage of donor‐donated PLTs in clinics and to provide induced PLTs for transfusion. However, low production yields are observed and the generation of clinically applicable MKs and PLTs from human pluripotent stem cells without genetic modifications still needs to be improved. Materials and Methods: We defined an optimal, stepwise and completely xeno‐free culture protocol for the generation of MKs from human embryonic stem cells (hESCs). To generate MKs from hESCs on a large scale, we improved the monolayer induction manner to define three‐dimensional (3D) and sphere‐like differentiation systems for MKs by using a special polystyrene CellSTACK culture chamber. Results: The 3D manufacturing system could efficiently generate large numbers of MKs from hESCs within 16‐18 days of continuous culturing. Each CellSTACK culture chamber could collect on an average 3.4 × 108 CD41+ MKs after a three‐stage orderly induction process. MKs obtained from hESCs via 3D induction showed significant secretion of IL‐8, thrombospondin‐1 and MMP9. The induced cells derived from hESCs in our culture system were shown to have the characteristics of MKs as well as the function to form proPLTs and release PLTs. Furthermore, we generated clinically applicable MKs from clinical‐grade hESC lines and confirmed the biosafety of these cells. Conclusions: We developed a simple, stepwise, 3D and completely xeno‐free/feeder‐free/transgene‐free induction system for the generation of MKs from hESCs. hESC‐derived MKs were shown to have typical MK characteristics and PLT formation ability. ZnO nanodevices have been widely used in practice, but one-dimensional ZnO grown in a polar preferred orientation is still partially localized. In this work, copper nitrate, nickel nitrate and silver nitrate were assisted with zinc acetate and hexamethylenetetetramine for the synthesis of ZnO films by conventional chemical bath deposition method. All samples were characterised by X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, photoluminescence, and UV–visible spectrophotometer. The results show that non-polar (110), (100) and coexisting preferred orientation ZnO films were controllably prepared by controlling the type and concentration of nitrate. On this basis, the growth process and mechanism of ZnO films with different nonpolar preferred orientations were characterized. It was also found that the ZnO films with 5 % Cu(NO 3) 2 ·3 H 2 O had the minimum surface roughness. The PL spectra confirmed the type and number of defects were also related to the preferred orientations. In addition, the non-polar (110) preferred orientation ZnO films had the highest optical transmittance of 82.26 %. This work enriches the method of preparing ZnO films with various nonpolar preferred orientations and provides new ideas for the design of ZnO-based transparent nanodevices. Hafnium carbide (HfC) whiskers were successfully synthesized by combining hydrothermal and carbothermal reduction. The precursor of HfC whiskers was prepared by the hydrothermal method, subsequently pyrolyzed, and reduced to HfC whiskers at 1500–1700 °C. The synthesis parameters of HfC whiskers at various temperatures, C/Hf molar ratios, and NaF concentrations were investigated in detail. The whiskers with diameters of 1–3 μm and lengths of 50–90 μm were prepared by pyrolyzing the precursors with a C/Hf molar ratio of 6 at 1700 °C. The experimental results and thermodynamic analysis demonstrated that the growth of HfC whiskers was governed by the vapor-liquid-solid (VLS) mechanism. Furthermore, the prepared HfC whiskers were added to the ZrB 2 -HfO 2 coatings on the surface of tungsten-rhenium substrates in different ratios to toughen the coatings. The thermal shock test results indicated that the coatings toughened with HfC whiskers had better thermal shock resistance. In particular, the maximum number of thermal shock cycles that 6%HfC W -ZH could withstand was five times higher than that of W–Re alloy and about one time higher than that of ZH coatings without HfC whiskers. The thermal shock resistance of the ZrB 2 -HfO 2 coatings was significantly improved by adding HfC whiskers. Here, the HfC whiskers with diameters of 1–3 μm and lengths of 50–90 μm were effectively synthesized by hydrothermal and carbothermal reduction methods. The growth mechanism of HfC whiskers can be explained by the vapor-liquid-solid (VLS) mechanism. Furthermore, the prepared HfC whiskers were added to the ZrB 2 -HfO 2 coatings on the surface of tungsten-rhenium substrates in different ratios to toughen the coatings. Highlights: A new way to achieve high yield and large area oxide thin film transfer is developed. Three different film compositions are demonstrated: SrRuO3, CeO2, and CeO2/STO nanocomposite films. Cracks, wrinkles, and damages are prevented by the new transfer method. They are commonly introduced by conventional transfer processes. Vertically aligned nanocomposite (VAN) structures can further improve the transfer yield. Possible mechanisms related to increased fracture toughness are proposed. We have opened up a route to large-scale oxide thin-film-based electronic device applications.In this work, we have developed a new method for manipulating and transferring up to 5 mm × 10 mm epitaxial oxide thin films. The method involves fixing a PET frame onto a PMMA attachment film, enabling transfer of epitaxial films lifted-off by wet chemical etching of a Sr3Al2O6 sacrificial layer. The crystallinity, surface morphology, continuity, and purity of the films are all preserved in the transfer process. We demonstrate the applicability of our method for three different film compositions and structures of thickness ~ 100 nm. Furthermore, we show that by using epitaxial nanocomposite films, lift-off yield is improved by ~ 50% compared to plain epitaxial films and we ascribe this effect to the higher fracture toughness of the composites. In Schizosaccharomyces pombe, the spore wall confers strong resistance against external stress. During meiosis II, the double-layered intracellular forespore membrane (FSM) forms de novo and encapsulates the nucleus. Eventually, the inner FSM layer becomes the plasma membrane of the spore, while the outer layer breaks down. However, the molecular mechanism and biological significance of this membrane breakdown remain unknown. Here, by genetic investigation of an S. pombe mutant (E22) with normal prespore formation but abnormal spores, we showed that Meu5, an RNA-binding protein known to bind to and stabilize more than 80 transcripts, is involved in this process. We confirmed that the E22 mutant does not produce Meu5 protein, while overexpression of meu5+ in E22 restores the sporulation defect. Furthermore, electron microscopy revealed that the outer membrane of the FSM persisted in meu5Δ spores. Investigation of the target genes of meu5+ showed that a mutant of cyc1+ encoding cytochrome c also showed a severe defect in outer FSM breakdown. Lastly, we determined that outer FSM breakdown occurs coincident with or after formation of the outermost Isp3 layer of the spore wall. APTEEN is a typical routing protocol for wireless sensor networks, but when clustering, cluster heads are randomly selected, which makes it easy to select nodes with low residual energy as cluster heads, thus forming network holes. At the same time, in multi hop transmission, the cluster head near the sink node is overloaded due to forwarding a large amount of data. Aiming at these problems, this paper introduces PSO algorithm and proposes ADCH-EPE-APTEEN routing protocol. In order to make the particle swarm optimization algorithm more suitable for routing protocol, this paper first proposes DCA-PSO based on particle swarm optimization algorithm. DCA-PSO uses the classification adaptive change inertia weight for different states of particles in the optimization process. At the same time, dynamic learning factor is used to improve the influence of particle experience and other particle experience on convergence speed and to improve the optimization accuracy and speed of the algorithm. Secondly, when APTEEN routing protocol is networked, the cluster head is selected by DCA-PSO, in which the residual energy of nodes, the location of nodes, and the energy distribution around nodes are fully taken into consideration. Thirdly, considering the distance between nodes and the sink node, the residual energy and the energy distribution around nodes, a front area is set up in the cluster located in the upper half and the assistant cluster head is selected in the front area through the DCA-PSO algorithm. The simulation results show that the DCA-PSO algorithm can significantly improve the search speed and precision compared with the PSO algorithm. Background: Periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) have many applications in the field of cytotherapy, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine. However, the effect of age on the biological and immunological characteristics of PDLSCs remains unclear. Methods: In this study, we compared PDLSCs isolated from young and adult individuals. PDLSC proliferation was analyzed by Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) and 5-ethynyl-2′-deoxyuridine (EdU) staining, and apoptosis level was detected by Annexin V-PE/7-ADD staining. PDLSC osteogenic/adipogenic/chondrogenic differentiation potentials were assessed by alkaline phosphatase (ALP), Alizarin Red, Oil Red O, Alcian Blue staining, and related quantitative analysis. PDLSC immunosuppressive capacity was determined by EdU and Annexin V-PE/7-ADD staining. To explore its underlying mechanism, microarray, quantitative reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR), and western blot analyses were performed to detect differentially expressed genes and proteins in PDLSCs. Results: Our results demonstrated that with aging, the proliferation and osteogenic/adipogenic/chondrogenic differentiation potential of PDLSCs decreased, whereas apoptosis of PDLSCs increased. Moreover, the immunosuppressive ability of PDLSCs decreased with aging. Compared with PDLSCs from young subjects, analysis of mRNA expression revealed an upregulation of CCND3 and RC3H2, and a downregulation of Runx2, ALP, COL1A1, PPARγ2, CXCL12, FKBP1A, FKBP1B, NCSTN, P2RX7, PPP3CB, RIPK2, SLC11A1, and TP53 in those from adult individuals. Furthermore, protein expression levels of Runx2, ALP, COL1A1, and PPARγ2 in the adult group were decreased, whereas that of CCND3 increased. Conclusions: Taken together, aging influences the biological and immunological characteristics of PDLSCs, and thus, it is more appropriate to utilize PDLSCs from young individuals for tissue regeneration, post-aging treatment, and allotransplantation. Aqueous tape calendering offers the advantage of a simple fabrication process, inexpensive equipment, and environmental friendliness. Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), as a polymer, is a conventional binder for aqueous tape calendering. In this innovative work, we aim to achieve a suitable process for tape calendering, by studying mechanical properties of the PVA polymer film with a series of plasticizers. The results show that the elongation at break of the PVA film reaches a maximum of 828.26%, using a triple plasticizer of glycerol, polyethylene glycol (PEG) 200, and PEG 400. With an optimized ratio of the binder to the plasticizer, a YSZ sheet with a relative density of 98% and a conductivity of 0.043 S cm−1 at 800 °C is obtained by sintering at 1400 °C, demonstrating comparable performance to those of the YSZ electrolytes by dry pressing. SEM reveals that the sintered YSZ body is dense, and has no visible open and closed pores. This paper proposes a quadrature-shaped pickup coil, which can realize an angular-misalignment insensitive omnidirectional wireless charging system. Recently, the three-dimensional wireless charging has shown promising prospects for removing the performance deterioration caused by the positional misalignment, which can transfer power to arbitrary spatial objectives. In the conventional design, the strength and the direction of the induced magnetic field can be adjusted by controlling the excitation currents of transmitting coils. However, the existence of angular misalignment caused by the self-rotation of the pickup unit still can result in a sharp decrease of the transmitted power. Accordingly, this paper proposes and implements a novel pickup coil topology to compensate such huge fluctuations in power transfer, which aims to ensure an angular misalignment insensitive omnidirectional wireless charging. To obtain a low cost and high performance non-noble metal catalysts and replace noble metal catalysts such as Pt-based catalysts in oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) are of a significant importance for sustainable energy conversion. A kind of Fe,N-doped graphene prepared by NH 3 plasma as a promising alternative was prepared. Various characterizations including XRD, TEM, XPS and BET were carried out. The results of XRD and XPS characterizations indicate that GO reduction and Fe ,N- doping were achieved simultaneously after NH 3 plasma treatment. There is a large amount of pyridinic N (up to 68.19% of the total nitrogen content) on the surface of Fe ,N- GO-P. Fe particle in Fe ,N- GO-P is so small that they cannot be found in the images of HRTEM. Compared with the Fe ,N- GO-C, Fe ,N- GO-P has a large specific surface area. Although the onset potential is negative, but it exhibits a high limiting current density and durability in alkaline medium. Purpose. Accumulating studies comparing the efficacy and safety of trabeculectomy and EX-PRESS implantation in open-angle glaucoma (OAG) report inconsistent findings. Thus, we conducted the updated meta-analysis to clarify the issue. Methods. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were selected through search of databases PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, and the Cochrane Library from their inception up until November 2018. The pooled mean difference (MD) for intraocular pressure reduction (IOPR) and antiglaucoma medication reduction, odds ratio (OR) for operative success, complication, and postoperative intervention was calculated using the random effects model. Results. 8 RCTs were enrolled, including 223 eyes in the EX-PRESS group and 217 eyes in the trabeculectomy group. EX-PRESS device implantation had a better IOPR% at 12 months postoperatively (MD = 8.9, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 2.5–15.3, P=0.006). There was no statistically significant difference in the antiglaucoma medication reduction (MD = 6.01, 95% CI = −4.13–16.15, P=0.25) and qualified success (P>0.05). Statistically higher complete success at 1 year postoperatively was found in the EX-PRESS group (OR = 3.26, 95% CI = 1.24–8.55, P=0.02). EX-PRESS was associated with a lower frequency of increased IOP (OR = 0.15, 95% CI = 0.03–0.93, P=0.04) and hyphema (OR = 0.20, 95% CI = 0.05–0.74, P=0.02). Less postoperative intervention was needed in the EX-PRESS group (OR = 0.43, 95% CI = 0.20–0.94, P=0.04). Conclusion. For OAG patients, EX-PRESS implantation provided better efficacy in IOP control and complete success at 1 year postoperatively, with fewer increased IOP and hyphema as well as postoperative interventions. The complex-variable-differentiation method (CVDM) is introduced into the commercial finite element method (FEM) software ABAQUS, for solving three-dimensional inverse heat conduction problems for the first time. First, the complex variable finite elements are set up, and the complex variable FEM is innovatively developed through the user element subroutine (UEL) in ABAQUS. Then, the key parameters in the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm for solving inverse problems – sensitivity matrix coefficients – are accurately evaluated by utilizing the CVDM and ABAQUS standard solvers with the UEL. Finally, several numerical tests are carried out to verify the performances of the new approach for solving the three-dimensional transient nonlinear inverse heat conduction problem in an irregular complex structure. The role of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) suggests that cancer is a disease with not only a genetic, but also an immunological basis. Additionally, immune cell infiltration is an important feature of oral cancer. C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 12 (CXCL12) serves an important role in immune suppression in the tumor microenvironment. Therefore, the present study investigated how CXCL12 expression in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) was associated with clinicopathological parameters and TILs distribution. Complete CXCL12, TIL and clinical data were available for 45 patients with oral cancer treated by surgery. Expression levels of CXCL12, CD8+ TILs and forkhead box P3 (FoxP3+) TILs were assessed by immunohistochemistry in OSCC samples. CXCL12 expression in OSCC cells was observed in 32 (68.9%) cases and was associated with poor differentiation (P=0.045), advanced stages (P<0.001), tumor recurrence (P=0.011), poor overall survival (P=0.0476) and a higher density of FoxP3+ TILs (P<0.001). The CD8+/FoxP3+ ratio was lower in patients with poor differentiation (P=0.034), advanced stage tumors (P=0.015) and tumor recurrence (P=0.002). In addition, the ratio of CD8+/FoxP3+ TILs was significantly associated with the 5-year overall survival rate (P<0.001). The CD8+/FoxP3+ ratio was indicated to be a stronger prognostic indicator compared with the density of FoxP3+ TILs or CD8+ TILs. The present study identified an association between increased CXCL12 expression and FoxP3+ cell infiltration in OSCC. Targeting the CXCL12/C-X-C motif chemokine receptor 4 axis in OSCC may be employed as a novel strategy of tumor immunotherapy in the future. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
