Huanma paper-cut is the representation of the first batch of provincial intangible cultural heritage masterpieces of Sichuan province. In recent years, Huanma Town in Cangxi County of Sichuan Province has continuously explored and trans⁃ formed traditional techniques into a cultural industry, seeking a market for the development of Huanma paper-cutting industry and realizing the transformation of the industrial structure of“prospering the town with culture and promoting literature with classics”. At present, Huanma’s paper-cutting inheritance work faces problems such as insufficient follow-up, fewer papercut inheritance craftsmen, lack of in-depth theoretical research and deviations in development positioning. In the period of rural revitalization, the protection project of Huanma paper-cut should start from improving the“intangible cultural heritage”man⁃ agement mechanism, cultivating and protecting the inheritors of paper-cutting skills, increasing the promotion of intangible cul⁃ tural heritage, creating a market brand of paper-cutting culture, and strengthening the construction of paper-cutting schoolbased courses, etc. Aspects of systematic construction, so as to promote its sound development. Sweat, as a sample that includes a lot of biochemical information, is good for non-invasive monitoring. In recent years, there have been an increasing number of studies on in situ monitoring of sweat. However, there are still some challenges for the continuous analysis of samples. As a hydrophilic, easy-to-process, environmentally friendly, inexpensive and easily accessible material, paper is an ideal substrate material for making in situ sweat analysis microfluidics. This review introduces the development of paper as a sweat analysis microfluidic substrate material, focusing on the advantages of the structural characteristics of paper, trench design and equipment integration applications to expand the design and research ideas for the development of in situ sweat detection technology. To stimulate the development and application of formal methods in industry, we need to promote research and development for the improvement of formal methods and tools for industrial applications, and we need to exchange experiences of the industrial usage of these methods and tools. This special issue of Software Tools for Technology Transfer presents various tools and experience reports that are targeting the use of formal methods in industry. As a global environmental problem, plastic pollution has attracted worldwide attention. Plastic wastes not only disrupt ecosystems and biodiversity, but they also threaten human life and health. Countries around the world have enacted regulations in recent years to limit the use of plastics. Paper products have been proposed as promising substitutes for plastics, which undoubtedly brings unprecedented opportunities to the pulp and paper industry. However, paper products have some deficiencies in replacing certain plastic products. NO2 is a prevalent environmental pollutant, and its reaction with water produces nitric acid, which is one of the main factors contributing to the degradation of books and paper. Therefore, it is crucial to develop a real-time monitoring system for NO2 gas content in the air and establish timely response measures to delay book aging and provide effective protection. In this study, TiO2 nanotubes (NTs) were fabricated using the anodic oxidation method, followed by the preparation of TiO2 NT/MoS2 composites through hydrothermal synthesis. It was observed that flaky MoS2 is attached to the surface of TiO2 nanotubes, forming aggregated structures resembling flower balls. The TiO2 NT/MoS2 nanocomposites were found to exhibit a rapid response with a 5 s response time and an 80 s recovery time towards 367 ppm NO2 at 260 °C. The gas response to 100 ppm NO2 vapor was 3.3, which is higher than all the other gases under the same concentration. Our experimental results demonstrate that compared to pure TiO2 NTs, TiO2 NT/MoS2 composites exhibit a larger specific surface area along with higher sensitivity and faster response times towards various concentrations of NO2 gas. A comprehensive review of the non-timber forest product (NTFP) sector from 1980 to 2022 was undertaken. The study employed a Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) methodology, incorporating explicit keywords. The results indicate that NTFPs underwent significant evolution, including research and development changes, particularly following the Rio de Janeiro summit. Most published research originated from the United States, accounting for 24% of the total; Brazil and India each contributed 10% of the published research. We included 316 potential research items: 262 articles, 19 book chapters, 27 review articles, and eight conference papers. The review analysis highlighted that NTFPs are crucial in meeting food requirements, obtaining specific medicinal resources, and acquiring material inputs for rural households, serving as a safety net during agrarian distress. NTFPs play a crucial role in promoting the development of the bio-economy. In low- and high-income nations with abundant bio-resources, NTFP value chains are increasingly pertinent for generating revenue, enhancing livelihoods, and reducing poverty in forest dependent communities. Further, the analysis emphasized that NTFP consumption, utilization, and sales occur at the household level, and its comprehensive assessment is challenging, leading to the need for a reevaluation of approaches that include value chain analysis. Fast‐switching high‐efficiency liquid crystal grating is a key component in holographic true‐3D display systems. In this paper, we present our research and development of a 10.7" liquid crystal grating with 2‐3 millisecond switching time, close‐to‐ideal deflection efficiency, and >100 polarization contrast. The high performance is achieved by optimizing the design and process of the liquid crystal grating panel as well as the optical module stack. Several key design principles are analyzed and verified. Based on the developed liquid crystal grating, a 10.4" full‐color naked‐eye holographic 3D display prototype is successfully realized. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Children frequently respond differently to therapies compared to adults. Differences also exist between paediatric age groups for pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics in both efficacy and safety. Paediatric pharmacovigilance requires an understanding of the unique aspects of children with regard to, for example, drug response, growth and development, clinical presentation of adverse drug reactions (ADRs), how they can be detected and population‐specific factors (e.g., more frequent use of off‐label/unlicensed drugs). In recognition of these challenges, a group of experts has been formed in the context of the conect4children (c4c) project to support paediatric drug development. This expert group collaborated to develop methodological considerations for paediatric drug safety and pharmacovigilance throughout the life‐cycle of medicinal products which are described in this article. These considerations include practical points to consider for the development of the paediatric section of the risk management plan (RMP), safety in paediatric protocol development, safety data collection and analysis. Furthermore, they describe the specific details of post‐marketing pharmacovigilance in children using, for example, spontaneous reports, electronic health care records, registries and record‐linkage, as well as the use of paediatric pharmacoepidemiology studies for risk characterisation. Next the details of the assessment of benefit–risk and challenges related to medicinal product formulation in the context of a Paediatric Investigation Plan (PIP) are presented. Finally, practical issues in paediatric signal detection and evaluation are included. This paper provides practical points to consider for paediatric pharmacovigilance throughout the life‐cycle of medicinal products for RMPs, protocol development, safety data collection and analysis and PIPs. This study examines the strategic investment choices made in pulp and paper industry (PPI) within the last two decades. We first describe investments, initiated projects, and closures of pulp and paper mills and profitability of the 22 largest pulp and paper companies in North America, Western Europe and Japan. We then examine the development and impact of R&D investments by comparing the timing of R&D investments with changes in profitability. The results indicate that the relationship between R&D and profitability is company specific. Our findings indicate further that the logic of R&D investment differs across firms; in some companies, changes in profits cause changes in the R&D investment level, whereas in others the opposite holds. It also seems that the sample companies have not actively sought new market opportunities through innovation activity, but rather by geographical re-location of production. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article presents a new technique for analyzing phenomena occurring during the measurement of the strength properties of paper in the conditions of compression of the tested samples with forces acting in the paper plane. The technique is based on collecting data on the current distance of the clamps holding the tested sample and the force exerted on the sample using a universal testing machine and on the simultaneous recording of image sequence of the sample during the measurement. Next, the resulting images are subjected to processing and analysis, the purpose of which is to extract information about the shape of the sample edge in all phases of the measurement. Its advantage is the ability to determine the deflection arrow of the sample and describe its shape using the selected function given by the analytical parametric formula. It will be helpful in further research on the development of an analytical model describing the phenomena occurring during paper compression, and a method to determine the mechanism of paper destruction and the corresponding maximum force that destroys a paper sample. New technologies usually have potential, but their mode of action and long-term consequences are not always immediately apparent. This challenge can be met in an interdisciplinary way with approaches that integrate different perspectives. Young scientists have come together to work on meeting this challenge from an interdisciplinary perspective in the Young Forum of Technical Sciences: Technology that people really want. The aim is to support user-centred technology development based on interdisciplinary methods. Engineering, law, social sciences and the humanities can work together to shape technical developments in a way that leads to a form of technology that is adapted to the needs of society. Interdisciplinarity in research and development means mutual permeation of disciplines instead of mere coexistence.
