To further quantitatively assess the water resources carrying capacity (WRCC) system and analyze and identify the regional water resources carrying state and the physical mechanism of the state change, WRCC and obstacle factor diagnosis were carried out. In this paper, we proposed the mobility matrix to determine the connection number components, considered the dynamic attributes of the difference degree coefficient, and calculated it using the semi-partial subtraction set pair potential and triangular fuzzy number, so as to construct the quantitative diagnosis method of regional WRCC obstacle factors based on the connection number and TOPSIS. The results applied to six cities in the Huaibei Plain showed that the WRCC fluctuated around grade 2 and was in a poor state, which was mainly due to the insufficient support force; the water resources carrying state of the six cities gradually improved from 2011 to 2018, but the state became worse in 2019, which was related to the low precipitation in that year, the reduction in water resources, and the high degree of water resource utilization. The WRCC of Fuyang and Huainan was worse than that of the other four cities; over the 9 years, the average grades of Fuyang and Huainan were 2.26 and 2.43, while those of Huainan, Bozhou, Suzhou, and Bengbu were 2.19, 2.12, 2.05, and 2.05, respectively. The key obstacles limiting the improvement in the WRCC of the Huaibei Plain were per capita water resources, annual water production modulus, per capita water supply, vegetation coverage ratio, utilization ratio of water resources, water consumption per 104 yuan value-added by industry, and population density. In time, the key obstacle factors in neighboring years generally tended to have similarity, and conversely appeared as a difference; in space, neighboring regions showed similarity and conversely presented as a difference. The results of this study can offer technical support and a decision-making basis for water resources management in the Huaibei Plain. The method constructed in this paper is extremely interpretive, easy to calculate, highly sensitive, and reliable in application results, which opens up a new perspective for the rational determination of the connection number and the difference degree coefficient and provides a new intelligent way to determine the state of a complex set pair system and its causal mechanism analysis and diagnosis of obstacle factors. Because of severe water scarcity, it is crucial to quantify water use in China's water-scarce regions and to analyze the factors driving its use. In this paper, we analyze the driving factors behind the water footprint from 2007 to 2017 in the mildly water-scarce region of Anhui Province, using regional input–output models and structural decomposition analysis. The results show the following: (1) Although the average virtual water intensity of Anhui Province decreased by 52.58% from 2007 to 2017, the water-use efficiency was still low; (2) During the study period, the total water footprint of Anhui Province increased by 25.06%, with an obvious upward trend; (3) From 2012 to 2017, the net export volume of virtual water in Anhui Province was positive, and the flow volume decreased by 78.87%; (4) Technological progress contributed the most to reducing the water footprint of Anhui Province, followed by the increased counter-urbanization rate as the second-largest driving force. The expansion of the scale effect, including the size of the economy and the size of the population, was the main negative driving force for the increase in Anhui's water footprint. To boost the high-quality integrated development in late-developing regions, an examination of the temporal and spatial patterns of urban growth and the primary drivers of urbanization in these regions is crucial. An exemplar case study of Anhui Province is presented in this research. The extraction of urban built-up areas in Anhui Province was conducted using nighttime light (NTL) data and urban statistical information. The study investigated the dynamic transformations and evolutionary features of urban expansion by utilizing measurement indexes for urban growth and center of gravity transfers. By employing gray relational analysis on economic, demographic, and other statistical data, the key influencers behind urban expansion in Anhui Province were scrutinized. The results revealed a steady annual increase in the urban built-up area of Anhui Province from 1996 to 2020. Furthermore, the shift of the urban built-up area's center of gravity in Anhui Province transitioned toward the east–south direction between 1996 and 2008, but gradually shifted toward the west–north direction thereafter. These alterations were mainly driven by factors such as urbanization rate. This study is expected to help decision makers take appropriate countermeasures to achieve high-quality regional development. Practical Applications: Understanding the spatiotemporal dynamics and influencers of urban expansion is vital for fostering sustainable urban development, ecological conservation, and enhancing residents' quality of life. The rural revitalization strategy has injected vitality into the reform of the supply side of agriculture. In addition, leisure agriculture is the focus of rural supplyside reform. In order to break through the stalemate in agricultural development, Chinese leisure agriculture has gradually sprouted at the end of the last century. Nowadays, leisure agriculture, as a direction of agricultural modernization with Chinese characteristics, has important significance for the development of agricultural industrialization, the rise of agricultural economy, and the development of urban integration. First, we briefly introduce the relevant theories of leisure and sightseeing agriculture. Then we elaborated on the situation of rural revitalization and leisure agriculture development. This paper studies the current situation of leisure and sightseeing agriculture in Anhui Province through Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). We evaluated the efficiency of leisure agriculture in Anhui Province. On this basis, we analyzed its current status and existing problems. We have put forward some suggestions, which have certain guiding significance for the improvement of leisure agriculture efficiency in Anhui Province. The research results show that the production level and development scale of leisure agriculture in Anhui Province are not optimal. Due to different production technology levels and resource endowments, there is a certain gap in the development of leisure agriculture between different regions in Anhui Province. These gaps are mainly refl ected in the difference in pure technical efficiency. Therefore, we propose to reduce the scale of leisure agriculture development and carry out concentrated resource development. We suggest strengthening the construction of soft and hard facilities on the basis of reasonable planning. [Objectives] The paper was to master the species, incidence regularity and control techniques of main diseases and insect pests of Camellia oleífera in Anhui Province. [Methods] The species of main diseases and insect pests of C. oleífera in major C. oleífera afforestation bases and seedling bases in Anhui Province were investigated through field survey and literature search. Afterwards, the symptom characteristics, occurrence regularity and harms of diseases and insect pests were analyzed, and scientific and reasonable control techniques were put forward. [ Results] The main diseases of C. oleífera in Anhui Province were soft rot disease, blister blight, anthracnose, sooty blotch, etc., and the main insect pests were Euproctis pseudoconspersa, Biston margínala, Hypomeces squamosus, Curadlo chinensts, Chrenoma airitarsis, etc. The control techniques mainly included ecological regulation, physical prevention and control, chemical prevention and control, and biological prevention and control. [Conclusions] The results will promote the high-quality development of C. oleífera industry in Anhui Province, and contribute to the improvement of China's edible vegetable oil supply and national grain and oil security. As industry is the world's leading carbon emitter, promoting industrial carbon reduction is of key significance to carbon peak and carbon neutrality. Using a data-driven method, based on the collection and processing of relevant data from statistical yearbooks and others, we analyze the efficiency and amount of carbon emission of each industrial sector after processing multi-dimensional data by the improved IPCC EF method of calculating carbon emissions. In addition, we adopt the LMDI decomposition method for data modeling to measure the contribution of energy efficiency, industrial structure, GDP per capita, and population size to carbon emission changes, to identify targets for industrial carbon reduction, and to propose a targeted optimization path for carbon emission. We show how the method is implemented by taking the statistics of Anhui Province from 2010 to 2019 as an example and advises on an optimization path for carbon emission in Anhui Province. This study is of both theoretical and practical significance as it provides theoretical and methodological support for the low-carbon development of the regional industry, and provides a reference for other countries and regions to explore the path of low-carbon and environment-friendly green transformation and upgrading. This paper examines new trends in the total amount and local fiscal expenditure structure within local economic development and performance. The new economic normality seems to be full of financial shortfalls, excessive dependence on land finance and local debt. We take a fresh view of more prominent factors that are necessary for scientific research and standardized evaluation of the performance of fiscal expenditure. We analyze as an example the amount and structure of Anhui province fiscal expenditure in recent years and recognizes some problems such as: lack of social security expenditure, inefficient local fiscal expenditure, less capital expenditure ratio of the area for development and insufficient support area economic and technological development. China's reform began in the countryside, and rural reform began in Anhui. This study uses Anhui Province, China as an example in analyzing the impact of agricultural science and technology innovation resource allocation on rural revitalization, particularly by constructing an econometric model. Results indicate that the allocation of agricultural science and technology innovation resources has a steady positive impact on rural revitalization. Improvements in the allocation of agricultural science and technology innovation resources can effectively promote the development of rural revitalization and the spatial spillover of rural development, thereby facilitating the promotion of the spillover of neighboring areas to local rural development. A nonlinear relationship exists between allocation of agricultural science and technology innovation resources and rural revitalization. Exploring the carbon balance pattern from the perspective of urban spatial development pattern is an effective way to solve the urban carbon emissions reduction problem, promote high-quality economic development, and synergize the development of the regional "nature–economy" dual system. Taking 105 counties (districts) in Anhui Province as an example, based on the calculation of regional carbon balance and urban development characteristics in 2001, 2010, and 2019, we used the spatio-temporal leap model to analyze urban development characteristics and combined the GWTR model and geodetic probes to explore the spatial and temporal correlation between the carbon balance and urban development characteristics, as well as their influence mechanisms. The results of the study show that: (1) The carbon balance of the 105 counties in Anhui Province shows a general decline in the time axis, with a small recovery, and the spatial sequence decreases and then increases from the north to the south. (2) The urban structure of southeast Anhui Province and central Anhui Province is stable, and the development status is good, but the carbon balance is out of balance, the carbon emissions are much higher than the carbon sinks, and the urban structure of the mountainous areas of west Anhui Province and north Anhui Province is dynamic and coordinated, with the carbon balance in harmony. (3) The spatial development characteristics of the cities in Anhui Province have a negative impact on the carbon balance at the scale-area level and a positive impact at the functional structure level. Among them, the area of urban built-up area and the number of the largest urban patches have strong explanatory power for the carbon balance, and the number of the largest urban patches is the main driver of spatial heterogeneity in the carbon balance. (4) The carbon budget of Anhui Province under the influence of urban spatial development characteristics can be divided into four regions: the economic development–carbon balance lopsided area, the ecological protection–carbon balance surplus area, the urban agglomeration–carbon balance adjustment area, and the potential enhancement–carbon balance equilibrium area. Based on the results, urban development needs to strengthen the construction of urban functional zones, and when formulating low-carbon policies in provinces with uneven development, it is necessary to comprehensively analyze the differences in development between cities and build cities according to local conditions. Identifying ecosystem service bundles and their long-term evolutionary characteristics is essential for the overall enhancement of regional ecosystem services, as well as the division and management of functional areas, providing a basis for decision-making in formulating ecological and environmental protection policies, as well as regional development planning. Based on land use, remote sensing, and meteorological data obtained from Anhui Province, this study assessed six important ecosystem service functions, including food production (FP), water yield (WY), carbon sequestration (CS), soil conservation (SC), habitat quality (HQ), and landscape aesthetics (LA), at the township scale in 2000, 2010, and 2020. On this basis, the k-means clustering method was used to identify ecosystem service bundles, analyze the spatio-temporal evolution trajectory of service bundles, and explore the driving factors of the spatio-temporal evolution of ecosystem service bundles using GeoDetector 2015 The results indicate the following: (1) At the spatial level, diverse ecosystem services demonstrate pronounced spatial differentiation. The distribution pattern of HQ, carbon fixation, and SC services is generally lower in the north and higher in the south, with areas of high value predominantly located in the western Dabie Mountains and the mountains of Southern Anhui. Conversely, FP services exhibit the reverse pattern, and WY services display a gradual increase from north to south, while cultural services are more dispersed, with areas of high value primarily located in the western Dabie Mountains, the Yangtze River Basin, and other locations. On the temporal scale, WY, SC, and FP services mainly exhibit an increasing trend, marked by a significant increase, whereas other services tend to present a decreasing trend. (2) Anhui Province can be categorized into four distinct types of service bundles: the grain production bundle (GPB), mountain ecological conservation bundle (MECB), urban living bundle (ULB), and core protection bundle (CPB). Ecosystem service bundles exhibit clear spatial differentiation, and identical service bundles demonstrate substantial clustering in space. Between 2000 and 2020, ecosystem service bundles displayed a marked spatio-temporal evolution, with the prevalence of GPBs diminishing, whereas the share of ULBs progressively increased, and the number of MECBs and CPBs remained largely stable. (3) In the spatio-temporal evolution process, the average annual precipitation, the proportion of forest land, and slope constitute the principal natural factors influencing the spatio-temporal evolution of ecosystem service bundles, while the proportion of construction land represents the primary socio-economic factor, with natural factors exerting a more significant influence than socio-economic factors. Background: Anhui Province is currently facing an increase in imported malaria cases as a result of globalization and international travel. In response, Anhui Province has implemented a comprehensive adaptive framework to effectively address this threat. Methods: This study collected surveillance data from 2012 to 2022 in Anhui Province. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the epidemiological characteristics of imported malaria cases. Additionally, multivariate logistic regression was employed to identify factors associated with severe malaria. Documents were reviewed to document the evolution of the adaptive framework designed to combat imported malaria. The effectiveness of the adaptive framework was evaluated based on the rates of timely medical visits, timely diagnosis, and species identification. Results: During the study period, a total of 1008 imported malaria cases were reported across 77 out of 105 counties in Anhui Province, representing a coverage of 73.33%. It was found that 10.52% of imported cases went undiagnosed for more than seven days after onset. The multivariate analysis revealed several potential risk factors for severe malaria, including increasing age (OR = 1.049, 95%CI:1.015–1.083), occupation (waitperson vs. worker, OR = 2.698, 95%CI:1.054–6.906), a longer time interval between onset and the initial medical visit (OR = 1.061, 95%CI:1.011–1.114), and misdiagnosis during the first medical visit (OR = 5.167, 95%CI:2.535–10.533). Following the implementation of the adaptive framework, the rates of timely medical visits, timely diagnosis, and species identification reached 100.00%, 78.57%, and 100.00%, respectively. Conclusions: Anhui Province has successfully developed and implemented an adaptive framework for addressing imported malaria, focusing on robust surveillance, prompt diagnosis, and standardized treatment. The spatial coupling of population and economy is an important indicator that reflects regional differences and measures the coordination degree of industrial layouts and environments. To explore the spatial coupling of population and economic densities and the effect of topography in Anhui Province at a grid scale, a land-use impact model was used to spatialize socio-economic indicators in Anhui Province using 2020 county-level data. Geographical concentration and coupling index were used to quantify the spatial relationship between population and economic densities. Then the effects of topography were assessed. The results show the following: (1) the accuracy of the regression models for the individual counties is generally better than that of the models for the whole region. The population and economic densities predicted by the proposed model reflect actual conditions. (2) Topography has a stronger effect on population density and primary industry density than on secondary and tertiary industry density. Slope has the strongest effect on population and economic densities, followed by topographic relief and elevation. (3) A spatial correlation exists between topographic factors and population and economic densities. Although the spatial relationship between population and economic densities is predominantly of the balanced development type in regions with complex topography, population and economic densities are significantly lower in regions with complex rather than flat topography. In addition, economic development in the northern Anhui region, a flat region, lags behind population aggregation. Efforts should be made to improve the economic level of the southern and northern Anhui regions and the Dabie Mountain region in western Anhui. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article presents an empirical study on the cultural industry competitiveness in Anhui province, China, based on the Diamond Model. The study analyzes the current situation and identifies influencing factors for cultural industry competitiveness in Anhui province. The results highlight the overall competitiveness factor and industry operation factor as driving factors, and suggestions are provided to improve cultural industry competitiveness. The study contributes to the formulation of differentiated policies and the coordinated development of cultural industry competitiveness in different regions of Anhui province. Four new species of the Diptilomiopinae (Acari: Eriophyoidea: Diptilomiopidae) from China are described and illustrated. They are Diptilomiopus vitisis n. sp. on Vitis sp. (Vitaceae), Diptacus chizhouensis n. sp. on Rubus corchorifolius Linn. f. (Rosaceae), Diptacus platycaryae n. sp. on Platycarya strobilacea Sieb. et Zucc. (Juglandaceae) and Apodiptacus albae n. sp. on Swida alba Opiz (Cornaceae). Diptacus gigantorubra Xin and Dong on Rubus pentagonus Wall. ex Focke (Rosaceae) is re-described. All the eriophyoid mite species described in the paper are vagrants on the undersurface of leaves, causing no apparent damage to the host plant. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the future time the exploration of marine oil and gas will be one of the significant domains in China. In this paper the biomarker assemblage characteristics of oilshow in the Nanlinghu Formation of the Majiashan profile, which is located in Chaoxian County, south of Anhui Province, are described in the light of gas chromatography/mass spectrometric (GCMS) analysis on the qualitative and quantitative basis. Based on the investigation of the biomarker assemblage characteristics of possible source rocks developed in the area studied, a conclusion is drawn that the oilshow was generated from the Nanlinghu Formation source rocks (abbreviated as T1 n), instead of the Qixia Formation source rocks (abbreviated as P1 q). The development of social economy often requires a large consumption of water resources, and will also discharge a large amount of pollutants to the environment. Currently, the rapid development of regional water resources, social economy and ecological environment (WSE) complex system encounters significant challenges, and the coordination development of WSE complex system becomes important and necessary condition of regional sustainable development. Therefore, to scientifically evaluate the coordination development state of WSE system, based on the establishment of evaluation index system, the connection number and distance coordination model coupling approach for the coordination development evaluation of WSE complex system was proposed in this manuscript. The application results of the proposed method in Anhui Province, China indicate that, during 2011–2020, the coordination level of Anhui province is relatively high, and the coordination grade of most cities are in grade I or II. The coordination development degree of Anhui province presented a distinct improving trend with time, from most cities in grade IV or V in 2011 to most cities in grade II in 2020, from the worst 0.0580 in 2011 to the best 0.9200 in 2020. In terms of space, the coordinated development level of southern Anhui is higher than that of northern Anhui. Meanwhile, the coordination development status of the 16 cities in Anhui province can be divided into three patterns according to its historical variation characteristics, i.e. , coordination development mode, ecological environment backward mode, and social and economic backward mode. Compared with the commonly used coordination evaluation method, the method of this paper can solve the problem of homogenization, and its calculation results are more reasonable and practical. • The evaluation indicator system for the coordination of WSE system is established. • A coordination development evaluation model based on connection number is proposed. • The coordinated development degree of Anhui province from 2011 to 2020 is evaluated. Recently, the environmental microplastic pollution has aroused wide interdisciplinary attentions. However, the occurrence of microplastics in agricultural soils is rarely understood, especially in eastern China. In this work, the occurrence and characteristic property of microplastics in agricultural soils in Anhui province, which is situated in eastern China, was investigated for the first time according to the density separation and filtration method. The concentration of microplastic in agricultural soils varied from 0.66 to 17.66 (103 kg−1 dry soil), and the fiber (~ 55.1%), film (~ 34.7%) were the main types in farmland soils. In addition, the small size (250 ~ 500 µm) was the dominant size of microplastics in agricultural soils in Anhui province. The concentration of microplastics was closely related to geographical location and planting patterns. Meanwhile, the types of microplastics were polystyrene (PS), polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), and high-density polyethylene (HDPE). Finally, the environmental risk of microplastics in farmland soil in Anhui Province was evaluated. The overall risk index of farmland soil microplastics in Anhui Province was less than 1000, and the content of soil microplastics was high, but the overall risk level was low. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The interactions between human activities and land cover have a significant impact on ecosystems. Therefore, studying human activity intensity based on land use or land cover is crucial for understanding the sustainable development of ecosystems. In this study, we selected Anhui Province as the study area and estimated the human activity intensity of land surface (HAILS) in 2015 and 2020 based on the ChinaCover datasets. We further analyzed the spatial, slope, and hydrological distribution characteristics of HAILS and explored the drivers of HAILS changes. The results show that the areas with higher HAILS were mainly located in the central part of Hefei, as well as along the Yangtze and the Huaihe rivers. The largest changes from 2015 to 2020 happened in the gentle slopes with the HAILS of 20–30%, and the percentage of HAILS > 20% decreased over the slope of 15°. In the riparian zone, the HAILS showed a clear decreasing trend after 2 km, while the HAILS in 2020 were higher than in 2015 in each flow-path distance belt, except for the Huaihe river. The HAILS index was strongly correlated with population density, rural population density, urban population density, average land GDP of primary industry, and nighttime light data. The rapid growth of the urban population and economy, as well as ecological protection policies, were identified as drivers of the above changes. The geographical distributions of Cd and several other heavy metals (HMs) (Hg, Cu, Ni, Pb, Zn, Cr, As, Co, and V) were characterized in 90 (p > 0.05) terra rossa samples across the Anhui karst area. Significant enrichment of HM was observed in this soil, mainly associated with the weathering of Cd-enriched carbonate rocks. Then, this enrichment was developed in 31 profiles. Our investigations revealed pedogenic processes as the dominant factors accounting for the enrichment of Hg, Cu, Ni, As, Co, and V. We also observed that all soil samples had a silty clay texture, with a pH scope of 4.08–8.04 and a median value of 6.50. In addition, the soil samples had relatively high saturation, with basic cations over 6.68%. The enrichment of the HMs based on their distinct factors were as follows: Cd (3.92) > As (2.55) > Zn (1.62) > Ni (1.50) > Cu (1.47) > Pb (1.47) > V (1.43) > Cr (1.23) > Co (1.19) > Hg (1.12). Finally, terra rossa samples derived from carbonate rocks were categorized as Cambisols, Luvisols, and Regosols. The soil profiles of Cambisols and Luvisolsis were less developed, so the HM concentrations were relatively low. The Regosols profile contained the highest total Cd concentration and exhibited a higher capacity to immobilize Cd compared with other soil profiles. Regosols are also characterized by high pH values (scope of 7.05 to 8.22, with an average value of 7.56). The contents of HM also exhibited minor changes across the Regosol, Cambisol, and Luvisol profiles, implying that the karst development degrees of weathering in Anhui were relatively low. The extant literature on international immigrants has discussed migrants' entrepreneurial activities in the context of Western countries but has paid little attention to return-home entrepreneurial intention (RHEI). Rural migrant workers (RMWs) in China, who used to promote rural development by remittances and were characterized by similarities with early international migrants, have gradually returned to their hometowns to initiate entrepreneurial activities. Based on the structured questionnaire conducted in 2015 and 2020 in Anhui Province, China, this article combines the concept of mixed embeddedness with the idea of double-layered embeddedness and analyzes the impacts of the social, economic and institutional context in RMWs' hometowns and migration destinations on RMWs' RHEI by using binary logistic regression. The article shows that the social, economic, and institutional environments of RMWs' hometowns and migration destinations have effects on their RHEI. The embeddedness in the economic and informal institutional context in RMWs' RHEI is even more important than personal characteristics. Compared with migration destinations, RMWs' hometowns exert a more influential effect on their RHEI. However, that does not mean that the role of migration destinations can be undervalued. Actually, the better the social, economic, and institutional environments of migration destinations RMWs moved into is, the higher entrepreneurial intention they will have after returning to their hometowns. The article proposes a modified framework in combination of mixed embeddedness with double-layer embeddedness and proves that it is suitable for analyzing RMWs' RHEI. In order to control the discharge of regional total pollutants in the region and improve the ability of water environment management and decision making, a multi-objective decision-making optimization model of water pollution load allocation was constructed, which took into account economy and fairness. The model takes the maximum environmental benefit and the minimum weighted comprehensive Gini coefficient as the objective function and takes into account the uncertainty and multi-objectives of the model, which is conducive to promoting economic development and ensuring the fairness of regional water pollutant discharge. A method based on Monte Carlo simulation coupled with a genetic algorithm was designed to obtain the optimal solution set through multiple simulation optimization. This model is applied to Anhui Province to solve the allocation optimization problem of total pollutant reduction in the 13th Five-Year Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Plan. After the optimization of water pollution load distribution, the comprehensive Gini coefficients of COD and NH3-N are reduced by different ranges. The comprehensive Gini coefficient after COD optimization decreased by 2.4–4.6%, and the comprehensive Gini coefficient after NH3-N optimization decreased by 25.1–32.5%, which verified the feasibility and rationality of the model in the optimal allocation of the total discharge of regional water pollutants. The model takes into account uncertain subjective and objective factors that have an important impact on water pollutant discharge targets and decision variables, thus optimizing the total emissions of the entire regional control unit in both space and time. The wind profiler radar (WPR) network in Anhui Province in China completed the construction in 2019 to improve the warning capacity for meteorological disasters. To verify its proper performance, vertical profiles of horizontal winds were compared with ERA5 reanalysis data from January to December 2021. The results show that the WPRs demonstrate good capability in measuring atmospheric wind due to their high data collection rate (> 80%). Overall, the data availability of the WPRs decreases with increasing altitude, exceeding 90% below 3 km during the daytime without precipitation. In terms of seasonal variability, the annual mean effective detection height reaches a maximum value at 4–6 km in summer and a minimum value at approximately 2 km in winter. Comparison analyses show that the wind measurements by the WPRs show excellent agreement with the ERA5 zonal (correlation coefficient > 0.89 and standard deviation < 2.57 m/s) and meridional winds (correlation coefficient > 0.76 and standard deviation < 3.26 m/s) over most WPR stations in Anhui, China. Additionally, the biases of winds between WPR and ERA5 generally follow a Gaussian distribution pattern, most of which are all close to zero. In particular, the differences in horizontal wind between WPR and ERA5 increase with altitude, with a much lower bias present in the lower layer. In addition, due to the difference in atmospheric turbulence between day and night, statistical parameters of comparison during daytime behave better than those at night. These findings indicate that the WPR network in Anhui is capable of providing good quality wind data, laying a solid data foundation for the improvement and development of the boundary layer scheme in the future. With the increasing severity of the global energy crisis and environmental pollution, there is an urgent need to change the economic development model driven by certain factors and the investment scale and pursue science- and technology-driven innovative development. This study aims to improve the efficiency of scientific and technological innovation and promote the high-quality development of regional industrial enterprises. It constructs a data-driven DEA-Malmquist evaluation model to evaluate and optimize regional industrial enterprises' scientific and technological innovation efficiency. First, we collect the panel data of regional industrial enterprises' scientific and technological innovation input-output indexes. Second, we use the Pearson correlation coefficient method to identify and construct the evaluation index system of regional industrial enterprises' scientific and technological innovation efficiency. Third, we build a DEA-Malmquist evaluation model to quantitatively evaluate regional industrial enterprises' scientific and technological innovation efficiency from static and dynamic aspects. Finally, we verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the method using statistical data on scientific and technological innovation and development of Anhui industrial enterprises from 2011 to 2019 and put forth targeted countermeasures and suggestions. Using stakeholder survey, documentation and policy analysis, through the survey of stakeholders, this paper aims to explore the problems in the collectively owned land requisition compensation system and their causes, and put forth the reform ideas and measures to provide a reference for the development of new urbanization. The results show that there are some problems in the current land requisition compensation system, such as improper land requisition compensation standard and calculation method, low compensation standard, unsound social security system, irrational compensation and placement methods and low satisfaction of farmers whose land is requisitioned. Therefore, it is necessary to accelerate the reform of land requisition compensation system and smooth progress of new urbanization construction in accordance with the requirements of 3rd Plenum of the 18th Communist Party of China (CPC). As the main driving force for the economic development of East China, the economic development of Anhui has been in good state in recent years. In 2019, the GDP of Anhui Province has reached 3711.4 billion yuan with an increase of 7.5% over the previous year. With the rapid economic development, many environmental problems such as resource depletion, vegetation degradation, and air quality decline have gradually increased. The ecological environment is an important foundation for social and economic development. To examine the status of regional ecological security, this study builds a comprehensive evaluation index system based on the "pressure-state-response" (PSR) framework and uses the entropy weight method to determine the index weight. Then the normal cloud model is introduced to dynamically calculate the ecological security status of Anhui Province from 2010 to 2019. The results show that (1) the ecological security status of Anhui has improved significantly and reached a safe status in 2019. (2) The ecological security status of 16 prefecture-level cities has also been improved, and the ecological security status of these cities is at level III and above except Huainan. There are significant differences in internal development, and the ecological security status of the southern region is ahead of the northern and central region. (3) From the perspective of the criterion level, the pressure and response subsystems develop faster, and the state subsystem develops more slowly. Orthocerids from the Upper Gufeng Formation, Guadalupian (middle Permian), from Anhui Province (China) are described for the first time in this article. The specimens are mainly Pseudorthoceratidae characterised by slender orthocones that have been studied under CT-Scan. A new genus and species have been described, Houdongoceras chaohuensis gen. et sp. nov., with seven morphotypes that presumably relate to new ones. Seventeen per cent of the specimens have epibiotic bacterial colonies associated indicating suboxic environments restating redox conditions during their deposition. This is also the first report of Permian macrofossils presenting bacterial colonies in China. This fauna is interpreted as autochthonous or parautochthonous which originally lived nektobenthically in shallow marine waters above the sediments or close to the sea bottom on the eastern margin of the Palaeotethys Ocean during the late Guadalupian faunal crisis. The characterization of lime mortars has become of primary importance in order to obtain information about the raw ingredients and building technology of ancient masonry structures. Five different samples from Anhui province, China, representing two types of lime mortar‐based materials: joint mortars between the bricks of the city wall and lime mortar sealing a tomb coffin, were collected for analysis. Archaeological information about the samples was reported and studies into the microtextural features and mineralogical compositions of those mortars were performed via a multi‐analytical approach. The joint lime mortars between the bricks of city walls, including Mingzhongdu city wall, Mingzhongdu Xihua gate foundation, Zhengyangguan city wall and She county city wall, were found to be aerial lime mortars. The lime mortar from Nanling Tieguai Song dynasty tomb was analysed and found to be a pozzolanic mortar consisting of lime, clay, sand and cocciopesto‐like materials. The analytical results serve as a critical reference for the maintenance and restoration of ancient city walls in Anhui province, and as a starting point for searching for ancient Chinese pozzolanic mortars and technology for making those mortars. Net primary productivity (NPP) of terrestrial ecosystems is an important metric of ecosystem functioning; however, the understanding of response mechanism of NPP to influencing factors and driving mechanisms are still limited. In this study, taking Anhui province as an example, spatio-temporal changes of NPP and its response to influencing factors were investigated for evaluating the effects of climate change and land use and land cover change (LUCC) on regional NPP. The Carnegie–Ames–Stanford Approach (CASA) model was employed for NPP simulation by using the MODIS normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) data and meteorological data over 2001–2016. Combined domestic LUCC, the spatiotemporal distribution pattern and dynamic change characteristics of NPP under a long time series and its response to climate factors and human activities were analyzed in the Anhui province. The results indicated that from 2001 to 2016, total NPP had a fluctuated and decreased trend with the variation range between 30.52 and 38.07 TgC in Anhui province. The multi-year average of total NPP was about 34.62 TgC. The highest value was in 2008 and the lowest value was in 2011. Among them, amount of forestland NPP was the most. The spatial distribution of NPP shows that the high value area was mainly distributed in southern Anhui mountain areas and western Anhui Dabie mountain areas; the lower value was distributed in the middle in the study area. The area of which the NPP showed a slight decrease and essentially unchanged accounted for 59.35% and 31.82%, respectively. In general, the correlation between vegetation NPP and temperature was greater than that between precipitation. The vegetations NPP of eight land use types were all positively correlated with temperature. However, the other seven types of land use were negatively correlated with precipitation except cultivated land. In the past 16 years, the decrease of cultivated land areas and the increase of urban and construction land areas contributed a lot to the decrease of vegetation NPP in Anhui province. The scientific identification of key areas for regional ecological protection represents an important basis for maintaining regional ecological stability and enhancing regional development. It is also a developing methodology of landscape ecology (LE) research. The strategic ecological protection and integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region is of critical significance for promoting the construction of ecological civilization in the watershed and improving societal health. Here, we analyze Anhui Province and select important ecosystem service functions (biodiversity, carbon fixation, soil conservation function, and water retention) in the study area. We construct a spatial pattern of ecosystem services for multiple scenarios based on the multi-criteria decision-making method ordered weighted averaging (OWA), calculate the trade-off degree and conservation efficiency of each scenario, identify ecological priority conservation areas, use circuit theory to explore ecological corridors and key areas and to construct regional ecological corridors, and identify regional pinch points and barrier points which may impede the construction of regional ecological security patterns. The study area is divided into an ecological protection zone, ecological buffer zone, ecological transition zone, ecological optimization zone, and ecological governance zone. Our results show that: (1) the four types of ecosystems in the study area have similar spatial distribution patterns, with an overall spatial characteristic of "high in the southwest and low in the northeast"; (2) the four types of ecosystem services in the study area show synergistic relationships at the provincial scale, but in areas with different natural and geographical characteristics, there are both synergistic and trade-off relationships between different ecosystem services; (3) a total of 121 ecological source sites were identified in the study area based on multi-criteria decision making which cover an area of 43,222.26 km2, accounting for 30.87% of the total area of the study area; and (4) a total of 250 ecological corridors, 54 pinch points, and 24 barrier points were identified in the study area based on circuit theory. In the context of "two-wheel drive" development mode, China's construction land shows significant expansion characteristics. The carbon emission effect of construction land changes is an important factor for the increase of carbon emissions in the atmosphere. In this study, the drivers of carbon emissions in Anhui Province from 1997 to 2011 were quantitatively measured using the improved Kaya identity and Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index. The results show that: economic growth, expansion of construction land and changes in population density have incremental effects on carbon emissions. The average contribution rate of economic growth as the first driver is 266.32 percent. The construction land expansion is an important driving factor with annual mean carbon effect of 6.4057 million tons and annual mean contribution rate of 187.30 percent. But the change in population density has little impact on carbon emission driving. Energy structure changes and energy intensity reduction have inhibitory effects on carbon emissions, of which the annual mean contribution rate is -212.06 percent and -158.115 percent respectively. The targeted policy approaches of carbon emission reduction were put forward based on the decomposition of carbon emission factors, laying a scientific basis to rationally use the land for the Government, which is conducive to build an ecological province for Anhui and achieve the purpose of emission reduction, providing a reference for the research on carbon emission effect of changes in provincial-scale construction land. Petrographical and geochemical studies were carried out of the Neoproterozoic carbonates from northern Anhui Province, China. These carbonates can be subdivided into two types, including purified limestone (PL) and mixed limestone and siliclastic rocks (MLS). PLs are low in Si, Al, Zr and total REE but high in CaO compared with MLSs. Correlations between Zr, FeO, PO and total REE are also less remarkable, indicating that they were not obviously contaminated by continental materials but directly precipitated from seawater. So they can be used for the inversion of paleo-seawater REE patterns. The inversed results indicated that the REE pattern of Neoproterozoic seawater was similar to that of the modern seawater except for the lack of Ce depletion, which was probably affected by the reduced hydrothermal solution. In combination with previous studies, the geochemical trending of these carbonatic samples towards the continental arc in the La-Th-Sc and Th-Sc-Zr/10 diagrams is interpreted as the contamination of arc volcanism. The tectonic background of the southern margin of the North China Craton in the Neoproterozoic was probably related to the Grenville orogeny during the convergence of the Rodinia supercontinent, rather than an intra-plate environment. Typhoon is one of the most frequent meteorological phenomena that covers most of central-eastern China during the summer. Typhoon-induced precipitation is one of the most important water resources, but it often leads to severe flood disasters. Accurate typhoon precipitation prediction is crucial for mitigating typhoon disasters and managing water resources. Anhui Province, located in East China, is a typhoon affected region. Typhoon-related disasters are its major natural disasters. This study aims at developing a new back propagation (BP) neural network model to predict both the typhoon precipitation event and the typhoon precipitation amount. The predictors in the model are identified through correlation analysis of the above two target variables and a large set of candidate variables. We further improve the predictor selection through an iterative approach, which proposes new predictors for the BP model in each iteration by analyzing the differences of candidate predictors between the years with large prediction errors and the normal years. The results show that the accuracy of the BP-based summer typhoon event prediction model in the simulation period from 1957 to 2006 is 100%, and its accuracy in the validation period from 2007 to 2016 is 90%. In addition, the absolute value of the mean relative error predicted by the typhoon precipitation amount model for the simulation period is 20.9%. A significant error can be found in 2000 as the mechanism of typhoon precipitation in this year is different from that of other normal years. The error in 2000 is probably caused by the impact of vertical shear anomalies over the western Pacific which hinders the development of typhoon embryos. Additionally, the absolute value of the mean relative error predicted by the typhoon precipitation amount model in the validation period is 14.2%. A significant error also can be found in 2009, probably due to the influence of the asymmetry in the typhoon cloud system. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
