In response to climate change, the Chinese government has set a clear goal to reach its carbon peak by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, endeavoring to gradually realize net-zero carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. This paper explores the concept of carbon neutrality and makes a comparative analysis of the gap between China, the European Union, and the United States vis-a-vis carbon neutrality based on international data. The main challenges China faces in its progress toward carbon neutrality are the following: first, China's energy consumption and CO2 emissions continue to increase, while its carbon peak has not yet been reached; second, carbon emission reduction in China is an arduous process, as the transition period allowed for the country to transition from its carbon peak to carbon neutrality is shorter than that of developed countries; third, China remains reliant on high-carbon fossil energy, with high energy consumption and low energy utilization efficiency; fourth, China's low level of economic development, compared with those of the EU, the US, or other developed countries, makes it relatively weak to withstand economic risks; and fifth, China's low-carbon and zero-carbon technologies are not mature. Therefore, this paper posits a three-stage/four-step strategy as well as seven specific suggestions that could benefit China's progress toward carbon neutrality.

Globally, all countries have producing different levels of carbon emissions and also facing both the problems of climate change and global warming due high carbon emissions in the atmosphere. Therefore, it is important to cutting carbon emissions in the atmosphere. This is only possible by switching to cleaner fuels, use of innovation technologies and development of carbon capture storages. These can substantially help the nations to reaching carbon neutrality. Given this background, this paper examines the effect of disaggregated energy consumption, technological innovations, capital on economic output and CO2 emissions in India for the period of 1990–2018. Based on empirical analysis, our long-run elasticities indicate that disaggregated energy consumption and technological innovations have a positive impact on economic growth, while renewable energy consumption and technological innovations have a positive impact on CO2 emissions. It implies that more use of energy consumption producing significant amount of CO2 emissions and by using renewable energy consumption and technological innovations (i.e. carbon capture storages) can significantly lowering CO2 emissions, which is clearly indicating that India has moving towards carbon neutrality. The causality analysis further indicates a unidirectional causal relationship running from disaggregated energy usage to economic growth and carbon emissions. These empirical findings suggest that the increased consumption of renewable power does not lead to rise carbon emissions, which, in turn, ensures sustainable economic growth.

In recent years, global warming and climate change have become international issues for both industrialized and developing countries. Increasingly we will need to understand and manage our Greenhouse Gas (GHG) risks in order to comply with national and regional policies aimed at reducing GHG emissions. It is for these reasons that it is fast becoming critical to know which processes cause GHG emissions and how much they are causing. This article will describe the link that exists between processes and GHG emissions. As a demonstration, the article will describe how these GHG emissions was generated during the 2003 World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) and how a model was developed to determine what the GHG emissions were during the WSSD. The GHG study, and subsequent model development, was done in order to keep the WSSD in line with its principles for the ecologically sound management of the environment and the issue of climate change. It was proposed that the WSSD be made carbon neutral. This meant that all the GHG (and thus carbon or carbon equivalent) emission generated by actions of the WSSD be offset over a period of time. In order to offset the GHG emissions of the WSSD it was essential to have a good assessment of the amount of emissions that was generated during the Summit. An emission Footprint model was developed, based on information obtained throughout the Summit. The method used a number of resources to determine the emissions resulting from delegate air travel to and from the host city, road travel to and from Summit venues, energy consumption at hotels and venues and waste generation amongst others. This paper will provide the critical factors that influenced and contributed towards the model. The results of the model will also be provided and discussed.

As the issue of climate change is always attracting widespread attention and China had fulfilled its commitment on emission reduction, the proportion of traditional energy consumption such as coal in China’s energy consumption structure will gradually decrease in the future, and the use of clean energy such as LNG will become the latest trend to replace the use of traditional resources, and the future increment of LNG would be mainly borne by sea transportation. Dalian City has a single source of natural gas by sea, which is highly dependent on offshore imports. In addition, it is predicted that the LNG throughput of Dalian Port will reach 8-12 billion m3 by 2050, so it urgently needs to build new LNG terminals to ensure the safety of natural gas supply. This paper statistically analyzed not only the operation status and construction progress of LNG terminals in northern China, but also the characteristics of natural gas consumption in the three North-Eastern Provinces of China and Dalian City. Based on the above situation, the principle and preliminary scheme of LNG terminal site selection were proposed.
