Abstract

Purpose: To review current literature on texting as a sustainable intervention of case management in the outpatient setting., Findings: Texting, as a case management intervention, provides the medically complex client with a pathway to achieve care plan goals. Texting increases adherence, communication, and self-management. It can increase client enrollment in disease management programs, while providing support, flexibility, convenience, cost savings, and increased participation., Implications for Case Management Practice: In current practice, such as management of the coronavirus (COVID-19), other pandemics, or natural/environmental disasters, texting is a solution-focused intervention that can deliver and retrieve real-time information to a medically complex population. It can link patients to resources and increase outreach, efficiency, quality, and coordination of care. Texting can promote adherence to appointments, increase medication compliance and disease management interventions, and provide motivational change messages. However, there are legal and regulatory concerns that carry potential consequences and implications that should be approached judiciously (Mellette, 2015). Doulas are sometimes sought to provide support to women during childbirth. Communication between nurses and doulas is essential to work together effectively and promote the best outcomes for the mother and baby. An understanding of the training and certification of doulas and potential roles and benefits of a doula-assisted birth can be the foundation for developing strategies to improve communication and collaboration between doulas and nurses.

Abstract

Chronic disorders such as haemophilia and von Willebrand disease can rob people of a feeling of control over their lives. Added to this is often a feeling of confusion or intimidation when dealing with the healthcare system. People may begin to feel like victims of their disorders and of the healthcare system. The healthcare system defines people who are in receipt of care as patients. The word patient comes from the Latin word patiens, which means to suffer, endure, allow, permit or undergo. Even the term implies a sense of victimization. People who become partners in their care and view the receipt and delivery of healthcare as a service wherein they are the consumer and the doctor or clinician is the provider, will feel more in control and will likely have better outcomes than people who assume the more traditional role of 'patient'.

Abstract

Animal communication has long been thought to be subject to pressures and constraints associated with social relationships. However, our understanding of how the nature and quality of social relationships relates to the use and evolution of communication is limited by a lack of directly comparable methods across multiple levels of analysis. Here, we analysed observational data from 111 wild groups belonging to 26 non-human primate species, to test how vocal communication relates to dominance style (the strictness with which a dominance hierarchy is enforced, ranging from 'despotic' to 'tolerant'). At the individual-level, we found that dominant individuals who were more tolerant vocalized at a higher rate than their despotic counterparts. This indicates that tolerance within a relationship may place pressure on the dominant partner to communicate more during social interactions. At the species-level, however, despotic species exhibited a larger repertoire of hierarchy-related vocalizations than their tolerant counterparts. Findings suggest primate signals are used and evolve in tandem with the nature of interactions that characterize individuals' social relationships. Publisher PDF

Abstract

Abstract Having access to parenting interventions in the early years is key to improve the developmental outcomes of children with neurodevelopmental problems. The Incredible Years® (IY) Parent Program is a group intervention that has demonstrated efficacy in terms of reducing stress in parents, as well as improving behavioral, emotional, and social outcomes in children. The program has been recently adapted for families of children with autism or language delays (IY-ASLD®). This intervention has not yet been implemented in the Spanish Public Health System, where there is a scarcity of evidence-based interventions being offered to families with young children presenting neurodevelopmental problems. The main aims of this study are to determine the feasibility of implementing the IY-ASLD® program within Spanish Child Mental Health Services and to examine parents’ acceptability and satisfaction with the intervention. As a secondary objective, we aim to evaluate its preliminary effectiveness in terms of reducing parental stress and behavioral difficulties in their children. The FIRST STEPS study is a multicenter, pilot randomized controlled trial comparing the IY-ASLD® program with a treatment-as-usual (TAU) condition. Approximately 70 families of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and preterm children with communication and/or socialization difficulties (aged 2–5 years) will be recruited. Families will be assessed prior to randomization and after the intervention. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the intervention will consist of 22 weekly online sessions (approximately 6 months). The FIRST STEPS pilot trial will demonstrate the feasibility and acceptability of reliably implementing the IY-ASLD® program within the Spanish Public Health System. The results of this study could represent the first step to inform policymakers in Spain when designing evidence-based healthcare pathways for families of children presenting ASD symptoms or neurodevelopmental difficulties at early stages. Abstract

International audience; This paper sheds light on the role of digital platform labour in the development of today's artificial intelligence, predicated on data-intensive machine learning algorithms. Focus is on the specific ways in which outsourcing of data tasks to myriad 'micro-workers', recruited and managed through specialized platforms, powers virtual assistants, self-driving vehicles and connected objects. Using qualitative data from multiple sources, we show that micro-work performs a variety of functions, between three poles that we label, respectively, 'artificial intelligence preparation', 'artificial intelligence verification' and 'artificial intelligence impersonation'. Because of the wide scope of application of micro-work, it is a structural component of contemporary artificial intelligence production processes - not an ephemeral form of support that may vanish once the technology reaches maturity stage. Through the lens of micro-work, we prefigure the policy implications of a future in which data technologies do not replace human workforce but imply its marginalization and precariousness.

Abstract

This paper analyzes the issue of implementing correlated and communication equilibria when pre-play communication is restricted to a particular network (e.g., a hierarchy). When communication between the mediator and the players is not direct and private, as assumed when invoking the revelation principle, there may be incentives for other players in the network to misbehave during the communication phase while players report their private information to the mediator and the mediator sends suggested actions to the players. To remedy this issue, we provide necessary and sufficient conditions on the topology of the network of communication such that restricting communication between the mediator and the players to a particular network does not restrict the set of (communication equilibrium) outcomes that could otherwise be achieved. We show that for any underlying game and any equilibrium outcome available when communication is direct, there exists a communication scheme restricted to a particular network that implements all such outcomes (i.e., does not induce players to deviate in the communication phase) if and only if that network satisfies our conditions.

10. A Clinical Psychological Study on the Therapeutic Interventions for the vicious circle of the communication between both partners

本研究は,家族療法の基礎研究として,問題言及場面におけるカップルのコミュニケーションを認知的側面に着目して検討している。家族療法でよく用いられる合同面接場面において,夫婦などクライエント間の問題についての会話がなされることが多々ある。家族療法のMental Research Institute(MRI)アプローチでは,クライエント間のコミュニケーションに着目し,時に介入を行うことで問題解決を目指す。それでは,セラピストが問題維持の悪循環に陥つているコミュニケーションに介入するとき, どのような介入が有効なのか。本研究では,家族療法の視点から,当事者間の認識の検討を通して,問題言及場面において,問題解決に有効な介入を検討することを目的とする。手続きとしては,18歳～28歳までの男女113名を対象に,交際しているパートナーに対する問題言及場面での自分のコミュニケーションの認識やその問題の解決度,会話の満足度に関する質問紙調査を行った。パートナーに対する自分のコミュニケーションの認識の質問項目の因子分析を行った結果,4因子が抽出され,それぞれ「和やか」「積極」「回避」「真剣」因子と名づけた。また,各因子の得点と問題解決度得点,会話満足度得点の相関を検討した結果,問題解決度と「和やか」得点「真剣」得点に正の相関が見られた。また,会話満足度と「和やか」得点に正の相関が見られ,「積極」得点「回避」得点との間に負の相関が見られた。この結果より,コミュニケーションに介入するとき,クライエントにとつて受け入れやすいと考えられる,「和やか」「真剣」を拡張していくのがより有効であると考えられる。, The purpose of this study is to investigate communication at dialogue of problem. A sample of 113 people (ages 18-28 years) completed questionnaires including the Communication Scale, the Problem- Solution Scale, and the Satisfaction of Conversation Scale. By cluster analysis, the obtained samples were classified 4 types of communications and named the ” Smiley type”, the "Pushed type", the ''Evaded type", and the "Eager type". The "Smiley type ” communication correlates the Problem-Solution Scale, and the Satisfaction of Conversation Scale. There is correlation between the "Eager type" communication and the Problem-Solution Scale, and there is negative correlation between the "Pushed type" communication, the ''Evaded type" communication and the Satisfaction of Conversation Scale. These results confirmed the "Smiley type" communication and the "Eager type" communication are better as the intervention.
