Abstract: Product-oriented policies gain more and more attention in environmental policies. In this framework, we studied cases (here presented only housing and computers and paper) in a life cycle perspective in order to determine their environmental impacts (in terms of GHG emissions, resource use and waste production) over the period 1990–2010. We also evaluated their potential for improvement up to 2010 by applying product-oriented strategies. We identified clear technical (theoretical) potential for improvement, especially for housing, packaging and computers and paper in offices. We then carried out a Delphi-based survey among stakeholders in order to investigate potential measures. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Background: The value of a Quality-Adjusted Life-Year (QALY) is of great importance for the healthcare system. It helps when it comes to defining a cost-effectiveness threshold for the evaluation of health technologies. No willingness-to-pay value for a QALY exists in the province of Quebec, Canada. Objectives: In this paper, we empirically investigated the monetary value of a QALY for the population of Quebec. Methods: Based on the Short-Form 6-Dimension version 2 (SF-6Dv2), we conducted an online survey with a representative adult sample living in Quebec. We used a time trade-off (TTO) combined with contingent valuation (CV), and a discrete choice experiment (DCE) to assess both the population's willingness to pay (WTP) for one QALY and the marginal WTP for health attributes. A health utility algorithm using hybrid regression was developed to determine a preference-based value set for health states. Results: Main analysis was conducted on 993 answers for the CV and 2143 answers for the DCE. The willingness-to-pay per QALY varied from CA$ 47,048.84 (CI: 21,554.38; 72,543.30) for CV to CA$ 73,936.87 (CI: 63,105.40; 84,768.35) for DCE. Among the 6 dimensions of the SF-6Dv2, marginal WTP varied from CA$ 4499.15 (CI: 2975.06; 6023.25) for more role accomplishment in daily activities to CA$ 15,867.12 (CI: 13,825.75; 17,908.49) for less pain. Robustness check with multiple alternative samples, as well as alternative health utility algorithms, showed that the results were robust and the DCE method provided 50% larger results than the CV method, although confidence intervals overlap. Asian cities have promoted TOD to increase MRT use and decrease private vehicle use. A crucial factor in achieving this goal is improving the pedestrian environment, which can increase people's willingness to walk to MRT stations. This paper analyses how Asian cities have improved the pedestrian environment around MRT stations and the factors influencing walking willingness by reviewing literature and taking Taipei as the empirical area. The results demonstrated that reducing obstacles in pedestrian space, evening the pavement, using transparent window displays in stores along the pavement, and constructing rain shelters can increase people's willingness to walk. The simulations of improved environments can provide references for countries improving the pedestrian environment. The contribution and innovation are to point out the differences in the motivation and goals of TOD in Asian and Western cities and propose improvements to increase people's willingness to walk to achieve TOD's goals. This paper aims to systematically analyze and synthesize the existing research published on mental accounting and purchase decision processes by conducting a systematic literature review. Specifically, the paper aims to answer the question: "What are the effects of mental accounting on purchase decision processes?" Therefore, it identified 110 papers which contribute to achieving the research objective and which were selected using the same data collection, data analysis, and quality standards. After reviewing the identified publications, the paper finds that the existing literature can be structured along four main themes impacting purchase decision‐making processes: (1) source of funds, (2) intended use of funds, (3) pricing, and (4) payments. The paper shows that for each of the four themes there are multiple mental accounting effects with an impact on for example willingness to pay, the experienced pain of paying or the ultimate purchase decision. Further, the paper identifies potential directions for future research in mental accounting, including the influence of product categories on mental accounting, flexibility in budget setting and its impact on mental accounting behavior, long‐term effects of mental budgeting on financial wealth, integration–segregation behavior in the context of pricing, the role of consumer characteristics on mental accounting behavior, and the impact of increased financial transparency through technology on mental accounting. There is a discourse in the international literature regarding the impact of large sporting events on the place where they are held. In the last few years, particular emphasis has been laid on intangible effects, including social impacts that may occur not only in the case of mega sporting events but also in smaller sporting events. Therefore, the main aim of this paper is to estimate the monetary value of intangible social benefits of differently sized sporting events held in two sporting arenas in Gdańsk, Poland, using the contingent valuation method.Introduction. Material and methods. The research concerns four sporting events of various sizes organised in Gdańsk in 2012-2023. In each case, a hypothetical event scenario was used to determine the willingness to pay among the surveyed inhabitants of Gdańsk. A tobit model was used to determine the statistical relationship between the proposed monetary offers and social impacts. It was found that sporting events, regardless of their size, determine the occurrence of social impacts among host city residents. Even though aggregated values are lower in the case of smaller events, when added together, they constitute a higher percentage of actual public expenditure incurred on the construction of sports facilities.Results. By valuing intangible effects, it is possible, at least partially, to justify the spending of public funds for the organisation of sporting events. Purpose: Integrated reporting () promotes transparency in corporate reporting and communicate detailed information on how a firm creates value in the short, medium and long-term. The purpose of this paper is to systematically review to provide insights into theories, determinants, consequences, contingent variables and methods that have been used in previous studies. Design/methodology/approach: The study was based on a systematic review of 17 articles published between 2017 and 2020. Findings: Nine theories were used in prior studies. Board size, diversity, independence, level of activity of the board, the establishment of Higher Education Institutions (before or after 1992), adoption of IR framework, size, institutional ownership, sustainability committee and the use of non-financial performance measures in executives' compensation contracts and separate risk management committees are determinants of . Further, the positive impact of on information asymmetry, market valuation of environmental, social and governance performance, financial performance, intellectual capital, sustainability embeddedness and organisational change, external sense of legitimacy and reputation, revenue growth, corporate environmental performance and circular economy-related information, with mixed findings for analyst earnings forecast accuracy, company value and market value. Only three studies used moderating and mediating variables to examine . Quantitative research approach and secondary data are most preferred by scholars. Research limitations/implications: Some papers may have been omitted unintentionally, although the author did his best to include most of the prior published articles using a rigorous methodology. Practical implications: This paper set out future research agenda on how research could be enhanced. Originality/value: Contrary to prior systematic reviews that consider individual constructs/concept, the review herein adopts a comprehensive approach and considers moderating and mediating variables aside from theories, effects and determinants of integrated reporting. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) bases its estimate of the value of statistical life (VSL) on 17 hedonic wage studies and five contingent valuation studies conducted between 1974 and 1991. We summarize advances in the mortality risk valuation literature since these papers were published, focusing on studies conducted in the United States that value risks to adults. We review hedonic wage, other revealed preference, and stated preference studies, identifying papers that satisfy appropriate validity criteria. We conclude that the recent literature is sufficiently rich to permit a revision of EPA's baseline estimate. Importantly, VSL estimates from both the averting behavior and stated preference studies we review reflect the preferences of a wider range of demographic groups than the current VSL, and newer studies better target causes of death relevant to EPA regulations. This study investigates how family values can create finance and growth challenges for family-owned businesses in emerging economies. Specifically, it explores the interplay between family values, debt financing, and firm growth, while also considering the moderating role of self-enhancement and self-transcendence in this relationship. The paper uses Schwartz's theory of human values to illustrate how incorporating indigenous ontologies based on Ubuntu can lead to sustainable growth in family businesses in Ghana and the African continent. A sample of 295 Small and Medium-sized family businesses in Accra, Ghana, was selected using purposive sampling, and multiple regression modeling was used to test the study's hypotheses. The study employed Cronbach's alpha and factor analysis to assess the reliability, validity, and variations between observed and correlated variables. The results suggest that family businesses with conservation, openness-to-change, and self-enhancement values may not be inclined to utilize debt financing, and conservation values have a negative effect on family business growth. The study also found that self-enhancement, conservation, and self-transcendence values positively moderated the relationship between debt financing and family business growth, with self-transcendence values playing a more significant role. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the complex relationship among family values, debt finance, and business growth in emerging economies, and lay a foundation for future research. Blue finance research has recently made significant progress, but comprehensive research is still in its infancy. This paper established a consolidated database of 223 articles on blue finance and used CiteSpace for visualization analysis. Firstly, blue finance develops in embryonic, fluctuating, and stable growth phases. The main research countries are the US, Australia, England, and Canada. The University of California and the University of Queensland are the main research institutions. Marine Policy and Science are highly cited journals. A few core authors shape blue finance research with limited collaboration. Secondly, three themes were established by categorizing ten keyword clusters: financial instruments and mechanisms for marine conservation and sustainability, policy frameworks for adaptation and climate resilience, and policy frameworks for adaptation and climate resilience. Thirdly, contingent valuation, marine protected areas, and the blue economy are the main research hotspots. The results' theoretical contribution is identifying the progress of blue finance and its potential directions. With the continuous development of urbanisation, the economic level of rural areas has improved greatly. However, due to the development of industry and the leap in the economy, the rural environment has suffered unprecedented damage. Taking Zhejiang Province as an example, this paper explores the rural environmental pollution control path under the government intervention mechanism. Firstly, it analyses the functions of the government in rural environmental pollution control. Then, taking Huzhou as an example, this paper empirically evaluates the willingness to pay for the treatment of living environment pollution in rural areas of Huzhou based on the CVM (Contingent Valuation Method) and analyses the decentralised domestic sewage treatment mode, multi household domestic sewage treatment mode, and waste collaborative treatment mode from the perspective of treatment technology and policy system. Finally, it is proposed that to speed up the governance of the rural environment, and we must strengthen the administrative intervention of the government in rural environmental governance. The government should improve the environmental protection awareness of leaders at all levels and the masses and enrich farmers' environmental governance knowledge and technical training. Based on the theory of environmental economics, agricultural economics, and decision-making behaviour, this paper analyses the influence mechanism of farmers' decision-making behaviour and government intervention in rural non-point source pollution control. This paper compares the effects of two types of behaviorally informed policy – nudges and boosts – that are designed to increase consumer demand for insurance against low-probability, high-consequence events. Using previous findings in the behavioral sciences literature, this paper constructs and implements two nudges (an 'informational' and an 'affective' nudge) and a statistical numeracy boost and then elicits individual risk beliefs and demand for flood insurance using a contingent valuation survey of 331 participants recruited from an online labor pool. Using a two-limit Tobit model to estimate willingness to pay (WTP) for flood insurance, this paper finds that the affective and informational nudges result in increases in WTP for flood insurance of roughly $21/month and $11/month relative to the boost, respectively. Taken together, the findings of this paper suggest that nudges are the more effective behaviorally informed policy in this setting, particularly when the nudge design targets the affect and availability heuristics; however, additional research is necessary to establish sufficient conditions for this conclusion. This paper studies the valuation of general contingent claims with short selling bans under the equal-risk pricing (ERP) framework proposed in I. Guo & S.-P. Zhu (2017) [Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control 76, 136–151]. In existing literature, analytical pricing formulae were derived in the special case, where the payoff function is monotonic under risk-neutral measures. In this paper, we establish a unified framework for this new pricing approach so that its range of application can be significantly expanded. The results of I. Guo & S.-P. Zhu (2017) [Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control 76, 136–151] are extended to the case of non-monotonic payoffs (such as a butterfly spread option) under risk-neutral measures. We also provide numerical schemes for computing equal-risk prices under other measures such as the original physical measure. Furthermore, we demonstrate how short selling bans can affect the valuation of contingent claims by comparing equal-risk prices with Black–Scholes prices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
