Abstract: The legal neuropsychological assessment of individuals following infection with the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) who exhibit potential symptoms of the Post-COVID-Syndrome (PCS) not only requires adherence to local regulations but also consideration of general professional guidelines. The assessment of PCS proves challenging both for the individual and the evaluator in the presence of ambiguous functional deficits or causal relationships. This article offers an overview of pathogenetic findings relevant to legal assessment and reflects on current German regulations and frameworks. In Germany, the legal neuropsychological assessment of PCS should align with guidelines of the Gesellschaft für Neuropsychologie (GNP) and integrate published neurological criteria. As PCS research rapidly advances, an interdisciplinary professional exchange is vital for further refining the legal neuropsychological assessment of PCS. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
