The article states that the administration of U.S. president Barack Obama was preparing to release convicted Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard from prison as of the end of July 2015. According to the article, the decision may improve relations between the U.S. and Israel, which were hampered by the 2015 international agreement with Iran concerning Iran's nuclear weapons program. According to the article, Pollard was arrested for spying in 1985 and sentenced to life in prison and a parole hearing was held in early July 2015 during which the U.S. government did not object to Pollard's release.
