Abstract

The article explores the use of emerging sensing and cyberinfrastructure technologies in smarter water management (SMW). Volume, velocity and variety are cited as the three key characteristics of water data. Topics discussed include the intelligent sewer system implemented in Quebec City, Quebec, barriers to integrating an adaptive urban water management system, and technological challenges involved in adopting water sensor networks.
