The ontology of artworks tells us that a work of art, for example, a painting, cannot be identified as either physical or mental object. By the same token, this paper argues the working of art or artistic labor cannot be identified as either physical or mental labor. However, the works and workings of art are regarded as either physical or mental in the prevailing aesthetic theory. The main reason is that classical Western metaphysics is bifurcated. However, traditional Chinese division of ontological categories is not a bifurcation but a trifurcation, which consists of dao道, xiang象, and qi器. This tripartite distinction avoids substantivism, while at the same time providing a framework that encompasses both the objective and the subjective face of the art work, by means of a dynamic exchange between the two poles. This paper shifts our perspective from classical Western metaphysics to traditional Chinese metaphysics and sets up a dialogue between Chinese and Western aesthetics. The ontological status of works and workings of art is neither physical nor mental, but the “betweenness” of the two.

For the hilly-plain-wetland complex ecosystem in the cold region of Northeast China, in order to solve the problems, which include the scarcity of surface rainfall stations and the inability to provide accurate surface precipitation for hydrological process simulation, based on the observed precipitation of rainfall stations, three remote sensing precipitation products are taken as objects of evaluation. They include TRMM (Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission) 3B42V7,3B42RT and CHIRPS (Climate Hazards Group InfraRed Precipitation with Station data,CHIP). In this paper, the observation data of rainfall stations and IDWP precipitation data interpolated by IDW (Inverse Distance Weighted) are used as true value of precision comparison, and the detection accuracy of remote sensing precipitation products from 2001 to 2010 is evaluated on the time scale (day, month and quarter) and spatial scale in Naoli River Basin.The results of the study indicated that 3B42V7 and CHIP have a high detection accuracy for precipitation, and their CC (correlation coefficient) values are 0.47 and 0.49 respectively in daily time scale. The accuracy of their observation for monthly precipitation is better than that of daily precipitation, and the CC are 0.85 and 0.87 respectively. The multi-year average precipitation at different grid positions in the basin is overestimated by 3B42RT, and its evaluation results are poor at different time scales. For the precipitation intensity range of (0,20], the observed results of 3B42V7 and rainfall station are close to each other. For the precipitation intensity ranges of (0,1) and (50,+∞), 3B42RT and CHIP have overestimated or underestimated the precipitation in different degrees. Based on the above analysis results, 3B42RT can be considered as data that can detect whether precipitation occurs on different spatial positions in the basin. 3B42V7 and CHIP can be applied to flood forecasting and non-point source pollution control in cold regions. Toll and Toll-like receptors (TLRs) play essential roles in the innate immunity of Drosophila and mammals. Recent studies have revealed the presence of Toll-mediated immune signaling pathways in shrimp. However, the recognition and activation mechanism of Toll signaling pathways in crustaceans remain poorly understood due to the absence of key recognition molecules, such as peptidoglycan recognition proteins. Here, a novel MD2-related lipid-recognition (ML) member named PvML1 was characterized in Penaeus vannamei. We found that PvML1 shared a similar 3D structure with human MD2 that could specifically recognize lipopolysaccharides (LPS) participating in LPS-mediated TLR4 signaling. PvML1 was highly expressed in hemocytes and remarkably upregulated after Vibrio parahemolyticus challenge. Furthermore, the binding and agglutinating assays showed that PvML1 possessed strong binding activities to LPS and its key portion lipid A as well as Vibrio cells, and the binding of PvML1 with bacterial cells led to the agglutination of bacteria, suggesting PvML1 may act as a potential pathogen recognition protein upon interaction with LPS. Besides, coating V. parahemolyticus with recombinant PvML1 promoted bacterial clearance in vivo and increased the survival rate of bacterium-challenged shrimp. This result was further confirmed by RNAi experiments. The knockdown of PvML1 remarkably suppressed the clearance of bacteria in hemolymph and decreased the survival rate of infected shrimp. Meanwhile, the silencing of PvML1 severely impaired the expression of a few antimicrobial peptides (AMPs). These results demonstrated the significant correlation of bacterial clearance mediated by PvML1 with the AMP expression. Interestingly, we found that PvML1 interacted with the extracellular region of PvToll2, which had been previously shown to participate in bacterial clearance by regulating AMP expression. Taken together, the proposed antibacterial model mediated by PvML1 might be described as follows. PvML1 acted as a potential recognition receptor for Gram-negative bacteria by binding to LPS, and then it activated PvToll2-mediated signaling pathway by interacting with PvToll2 to eliminate invading bacteria through producing specific AMPs. This study provided new insights into the recognition and activation mechanism of Toll signaling pathways of invertebrates and the defense functions of ML members.

In the construction industry, the labor shortage is a global issue. Characterized by the forming process of layered extrusion and rapid solidification, 3D concrete printing (3DCP) technology begins to be used in digital concrete construction to minimize the demand for manpower. However, the utilization of 3DCP in full-scale architectural constructions is still in its infancy, involving many manual processes like rebars-binding and formwork-making, which reduces the benefits of construction automation that should be brought by such technology. Therefore, this study proposes a design-to-printing workflow to 3D print the entire structure of a farmhouse in Wujiazhuang (WJZ) village. Firstly, design strategies are built up by a series of multi-disciplinary research, including printing system development, site planning, material design, and structure evaluation. Secondly, construction strategies involving printing process organization and man-hour-saving construction methods are utilized in the 3D printing process. By applying the introduced workflow, the project saves 62.4 % of human resources compared with the traditional reinforced concrete (RC) method, and the participation of 3D printing technologies arises from 18.3 % in the common 3DCP scenario to 76.5 % in this project. The on-site construction duration of the WJZ farmhouse is also reduced by 24.5 % in comparison with the unplanned construction process.

Organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) offer the advantage of flexibility; however, the use of traditional transparent anode ITO limits further extension of their flexible characteristics. In this study, we propose employing an polymer polybenzodifuranedione (PBFDO) as a flexible transparent anode instead of the rigid ITO. To address the issue encountered during the PBFDO solution spin-coating process, we introduced n-butanol into the PBFDO conductive solution to reduce its viscosity and freezing point by modulating intermolecular hydrogen bonding interactions. Consequently, high-quality PBFDO films with high conductivity, superior transmittance, and low surface roughness were successfully obtained via spin-coating. Moreover, due to its proper work function, regular molecular stacking, and low refractive index properties, PBFDO electrode facilitate efficient carrier injection and transport as well as photon extraction. The resulting device utilizing a PBFDO anode combined with Super Yellow as the light-emitting layer exhibited excellent performance characteristics including a normal threshold voltage of 2.6 V and a maximum luminous efficiency of 12.8 cd A−1 comparable to that device based on the ITO electrode. Conductive hydrogels have great potential in wearable electronic devices for motion detection and medical monitoring applications. However, poor tissue adhesion and underwater swelling remain challenging for most hydrogels as in vitro wearable electronic devices. Herein, a tri-network (TN) hydrogel consisting of agarose (AG), amphoteric sulfobetaine methacrylate (SBMA) and polypyrrole (PPy) is developed to solve these problems. Owing to the ionic dipole interactions and cation–π interactions of SBMA, the novel developed hydrogel exhibits good adhesion capability. AG and PPy improve the cross-linking density of the hydrogels, thus improving their resistance to swelling underwater. In addition, the TN hydrogel has less substrate noise interference and high strain sensitivity, which enables it to monitor electrical signals generated by subtle motion variation. Due to the cross-linking of double helical bundles formed by hydrogen bonding in AG linear molecules, the dipole-ionic interactions between sulfonic acid groups and quaternary ammonium cations in SBMA, and the conjugated π-system constituted by alternating single and double bonds in Ppy, the TN hydrogel exhibits good mechanical and electrical conductivity properties. Therefore, this study provides a strategy to generate stretchable, compressive, and conductive hydrogels with adhesive properties and can be used in underwater environments, expanding the potential applications of hydrogels as wearable electronic devices. Integrating CO2 reduction with methanol oxidation presents a promising alternative strategy to store solar energy in CO2 reduction and produce more sustainable clean fuels and chemicals products, while identifying the carbon sources in the final products and elucidating the interactions between CO2 and methanol within such a mixed system is still particularly challenging. Herein, this study explores the efficiency of synergistic photocatalytic CO2 reduction and methanol oxidation via self-photogenerated oxygen vacancy-rich TiO2 nanostructures. Employing NMR spectroscopy and GC–MS analysis for 13CO2 isotope tracing samples, the exact carbon sources in both liquid and gas-phase products were clearly figure out. Moreover, through in situ DRIFTS analysis and DFT calculations, the crucial role of oxygen vacancies in enhancing catalytic activity and selectivity is revealed, and the CO2 reduction and methanol oxidation pathway on oxygen vacancy-rich TiO2 nanostructures are proposed. Consequently, our findings offer profound implications for advancing the field of synergistic photocatalytic processes, aiming to generate high-value chemical fuels sustainably. Syncollisional magmatism plays an important but underappreciated role in continental crust growth and maturation. However, the origin of syncollisional intermediate magmas in continental subduction zones is controversial, with some models suggesting they form by arc-related processes, and others indicating they form by later slab breakoff-induced melting. Diorite porphyry dikes intruding granitic gneiss in the Paleo-Tethyan Sulu ultrahigh-pressure (UHP) continental collisional orogen have inherited zircon grains with 206Pb/238U ages of ca. 749-238 Ma, and magmatic zircons with weighted mean ages of 216-215 Ma, falling within the well-constrained time range (ca. 235-208 Ma) tracking exhumation of the Sulu UHP rocks from UHP peak conditions to amphibolite facies; they are thus syncollisional. The dikes have high Cr (330-402 ppm), Ni (84.5-103 ppm), and Mg# (64-66) values, showing a mantle origin. The porphyries have relatively high Sm/Yb, Nb/Y, La/Yb, and Gd/Yb ratios, representing a classic signature of slab breakoff magmatism. Together with the arc-like traceelement patterns and enriched Sr-Nd isotope compositions, ages, and εHf(t) values (-19.5 to -17.0) of magmatic zircons and their tectonic setting, we propose a syncollisional slab breakoff model in which the melts were initially generated from asthenospheric upwelling in the gap created when the oceanic slab attached to the Yangtze craton detached underneath the North China craton during Late Triassic collision following Paleo-Tethys Ocean closure. The diorite porphyry dikes have consistent Sr-Nd isotope compositions and spatiotemporal relationships with the nearby Shidao gabbro-syenite-granite complex, for which the tectonic affinity is controversial. Thus, we argue that the diorite porphyries and Shidao complex were sourced from two cratons, including the enriched subcontinental lithospheric mantle of the North China craton, which interacted with abundant felsic melts derived from the sinking slab breaking away from the subducted crust of the Yangtze continental-ocean transitional margin. This study sheds new light on crustal recycling versus continental growth in collisional orogens and implies that considerable syncollisional intermediate magmas can be generated by slab breakoff in continental subduction zones, representing hybrid additions to continental growth that are different and more evolved than arc magmas and have a composition similar to that of the bulk continental crust. Metal‐organic frameworks recently have been burgeoning and used as precursors to obtain various metal–nitrogen–carbon catalysts for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). Although rarely studied, Mn–N–C is a promising catalyst for ORR due to its weak Fenton reaction activity and strong graphitization catalysis. Here, we developed a facile strategy for anchoring the atomically dispersed nitrogen‐coordinated single Mn sites on carbon nanosheets (MnNCS) from an Mn‐hexamine coordination framework. The atomically dispersed Mn–N4 sites were dispersed on ultrathin carbon nanosheets with a hierarchically porous structure. The optimized MnNCS displayed an excellent ORR performance in half‐cells (0.89 V vs. reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE) in base and 0.76 V vs. RHE in acid in half‐wave potential) and Zn–air batteries (233 mW cm−2 in peak power density), along with significantly enhanced stability. Density functional theory calculations further corroborated that the Mn–N4–C12 site has favorable adsorption of *OH as the rate‐determining step. These findings demonstrate that the metal‐hexamine coordination framework can be used as a model system for the rational design of highly active atomic metal catalysts for energy applications.
