The infusions prepared from some Quercus L. species are used in folk medicine for medicinal purposes and consumed as tea. Quercus pontica K. Koch was selected in this study, for which no phytochemical isolation studies have been performed so far. Quercetin 3- O - β-D-glucopyranoside, kaempferol 3- O -(6""- O -galloyl)-β-D-glucopyranoside, kaempferol 3- O -β-D-glucopyranoside, kaempferol 3- O -(6"'-coumaroyl-β-D-glucopyranoside, phlorizin, rosmarinic acid, and catechin were isolated from the titled plant for the first time. Some polyphenolic compounds have been shown to inhibit histone deacetylase (HDAC) enzymes. However, there is no study on the any activities of Quercus species in the literature. In this study, we demonstrated that the extract has in vitro pan-HDAC inhibition activity. Through a virtual screening study, the compounds were found to inhibit HDAC7 more strongly than the other HDAC isoforms; therefore, the HDAC7 inhibition activities were studied in vitro . Kaempferol 3- O-β -D-glucopyranoside and kaempferol 3- O -(6'"-coumaroyl- β -D-glucopyranoside) showed the best anti-HDAC7 activity with 37% and 41% inhibition at 500 μM.

The Golgi complex is a highly dynamic and tightly regulated cellular organelle with essential roles in the processing as well as the sorting of proteins and lipids. Its structure undergoes rapid disassembly and reassembly during normal physiological processes, including cell division, migration, polarization, differentiation, and cell death. Golgi dispersal or fragmentation also occurs in pathological conditions, such as neurodegenerative diseases, infectious diseases, congenital disorders of glycosylation diseases, and cancer. In this review, current knowledge about both structural organization and morphological alterations in the Golgi in physiological and pathological conditions is summarized together with the methodologies that help to reveal its structure., (© 2024. Background and Aims: While health workers were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic on an individual and professional basis, their families and especially their children were directly or indirectly exposed to similar factors. This study aims to compare the emotion regulation competencies of school-age children of healthcare workers in Turkey, before and during the COVID-19 pandemic and to investigate their emotion regulation competencies during the pandemic in terms of care conditions, daily life activities and overall health., Methods: This study used the purposeful sampling technique and was designed as a cross-sectional and relational survey study. To conduct this study, permission was received from the Ministry of Health Directorate-General for Health Services, COVID-19 Research Evaluation Commission, and İzmir Kâtip Çelebi University Non-Interventional Clinical Research Ethics Committee (Date/Decision no: 04.03.2021/0090). The data-collection process was carried out online between March and July, 2021. A total of 106 healthcare workers who serve in pandemic clinics or fields participated in this study. In addition to the information forms prepared by the researchers of this study, the Emotion Regulation Scale (ERS), which was adapted into Turkish, was used. One-way analysis of variance for independent samples was used for the analysis of variables, and paired samples t-test was used to compare emotion regulation competencies before and during the pandemic., Results: The children's total ERS scores increased during the pandemic (47.70 ± 8.35) when compared with their pre-pandemic scores (44.86 ± 9.25), and furthermore this difference was found to be statistically significant ( p  = 0.000). The total mean ERS score of children with a healthcare worker parent increased significantly during the pandemic compared with the scores before the pandemic, which revealed that emotion regulation occurred at a lower level for these children., Conclusion: The effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the emotion regulation competencies of children whose parents are healthcare workers is evident., Competing Interests: The authors declare no conflict of interest., (© 2022 The Authors. Background: Focal epithelial hyperplasia (FEH) is a rare and benign papillomatous disease of the oral cavity, which is closely associated with human papillomavirus (HPV) type 13 and 32. Genetic susceptibility to HPV infections are supported by recent studies involving the human leukocyte antigen system (HLA). In this report, we aimed to determine the clinicopathological features of a Turkish family with FEH and to detect the shared HLA DR and DQ types., Methods: HPV DNA typing of tissue samples and HLA determination from blood samples of four family members were performed by polymerase chain reaction., Results: Histopathological examination of all patients revealed acanthotic papillomatous epidermis, koilocytes, apoptotic keratinocytes, and mitosoid bodies. HPV13 was detected by polymerase chain reaction. HLA DQA1*0501, HLA DQB1*0302, and HLA DRB1*11 alleles were common in all family members. HLA DRB1*04 was detected in three of them., Conclusion: This report is the first step for the investigation of involvement of HLA types in the pathogenesis of Turkish patients with FEH., (© 2014 The International Society of Dermatology.)
