Moving object detection is a fundamental task on smart CCTV systems, as it provides a focal point for further investigation. In this study, an algorithm for moving object detection in video, which is thresholded using a stationary wavelet transform (SWT), is developed. In the detection steps, the authors perform a background subtraction algorithm; the obtained results are decomposed using discrete stationary wavelet transform 2D, and the coefficients are thresholded using Birge-Massart strategy. This leads to an efficient calculation method and system compared to existing traffic estimation methods.

In this paper an improved ultraspherical window is developed for designing quadrature mirror filters banks (QMF) with the help of a real coded genetic algorithm (RCGA). In fact, the ultraspherical window is modified by adding a parameter (α) which to improve the spectral parameters. Then, RCGA is used to find optimal values of the adjustment parameters, the side-lobes ratio of ultraspherical window and the cut-off frequency of the low-pass prototype filter. This latter, is used to derive all the filters of QMF banks. When the developed QMF banks are exploited for speech enhancement algorithm based on wavelets techniques it gives good performances in terms of Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality (PESQ) and Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR). In addition to this, when compared to Dolph-Chebyshev, Kaiser and the original Ultraspherical windows the modified Ultraspherical window gives better performance referred to the obtained simulation results.

A Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) powered Hybrid Electric System (HES) is one of an appreciating research issue for the future due to its high efficiency and capability to use hydrogen as a fuel. The PEMFC cannot sufficiently meet sustained load demands in some cases. For that, to compensate this problem incorporating the slow transient response of the PEMFC, Ultra-capacitors (UCaps) are potential candidates for a solution in this aspect. An adequate Energy management System (EMS) is one essential objective of the researches in this area. Hence, this paper proposed an efficient dynamic model using an energy storage system with the sufficient power capacity to keep the smooth operation of the system. To satisfy the load requirements and optimize the active power flow between hybrid power sources for different modes, the EMS was proposed. This latter was appreciated for its capacity to serve the required power through effective utilization of the PEMFC and UCap. To maximize the system efficiency, the functioning of the system is depending on the decision making and the control of all the system component states. The HES and the control approach are made using Matlab/Simulink environment, from which, the obtained results indicate the reliability and the effectiveness desirability of the HES and its proposed energy management strategy.

Real-time simulation test beds for new zero-emission hybrid electric vehicles are considered as an attractive challenge for future transport applications that are fully recommended in the laboratory environment. In contrast, new zero-emission hybrid electric vehicles have a more complicated charging procedure. For this reason, an efficient simulation tools development for hydrogen consumption control becomes critical. In this vein, a New Zero Emission Hybrid Electric Vehicle Simulation (NZE-HEVSim) tool for the dynamic Fuel Cell Hybrid-Electric System is proposed to smartly control multisource activities. The designed system consists of a proton-exchange membrane fuel cell used to provide the required energy demand and a Supercapacitor system for energy recovery assistance in load peak or in fast transient. To regulate the supplied power, an efficient Real-Time Embedded Intelligent Energy Management (RT-EM-IEM) is implemented and tested through various constraints. The proposed intelligent energy management system aims to act quickly against sudden circumstances related to hydrogen depletion in the basis required fuel consumption prediction using multi-agent system (MAS). The proposed MAS strategy aims to define the proper operating agent according to energy demand and supply. The obtained results prove that the designed system meets the objectives set for RT-EM-IEM by referring to an experimental velocity database.

In this paper we are interested to improve the state estimation of a maneuvering target, which improve the tracking of it in real time in radar system. Trajectory estimation is posed as a continuous filtering problem with a simple closed –form solution, which is used a turn to update the label cost. Many of the most successful tracking methods at present perform tracking by detection, the target is presented by an object model that can be detected in every frame independently. The advantage of using an object detector are that it naturally handles re-initialization if a target has been lost, and that it avoids excessive model drift. The detector yields the per-frame evidence for the presence or the absence of the target using the false alarm in discrete time. The aim is to improve the process of the state estimation for too random target at the given instant in order to smooth their true state path for a long time, it simplifies the process of real-time tracking. In this frame, we propose the numerical methods presented by MONTE CARLO (MC) counter-part the methods conventionally used named Extended KALMAN Filter (EKF), in order we showed that the first are more successful.

The optimization of energy consumption in transport applications, especially dual-energy vehicles (hybrid electric System), was selected as an interesting problem for future transportation applications due to its high efficiency, reduced emissions and the required consumption optimization. To solve this embedding problem, a Hybrid Electrical System (HES) powered by a proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) was proposed. The hybrid electric system has some main drawbacks derived from the PEMFC due to its inability to meet the energy demand. Battery (BT) and Ultracapacitor (UC) devices are added in this aspect, wherein each power source comprises a DC/DC converter. These devices are used as a potential energy storage that deals to minimize the transitional response associated with the PEMFC. So, the HES is evaluated and demonstrated through an accurate Multi-Input Single-Output (MISO) state space model. To optimize the energy demand, Road-Speed-profiles was chosen. The selecting profiles are systematically compared in terms of hydrogen fuel consumption and tank state of charge prediction. To maintain the required energy through an effective cooperation between the PEMFC, BT and UC, a predictive real-time Energy Management Unit (EMU) is developed. The obtained results reflect the system performance and the proposed EMU effectiveness using Matlab/Simulink environment.

Nowadays, the diseases of the voice increase because of bad social habits and the misuse of voice. These pathologies should be treated from the beginning. Indeed, it is no longer necessary that the diseases of the voice lead to affect the quality of the voice as heard by a listener. The most useful tool for diagnosing such diseases is the Acoustic analysis. We present in this work, new expression parameters in order to clarify the description of the vocal signal. These parameters help to classify the unhealthy voices. They describes essentially the fundamental frequency F0, the Harmonics-to-Noise report HNR, the report Noise to Harmonics Ratio NHR and Detrended Fluctuation Analysis (DFA). The classification is performed on two Saarbruecken Voice and MEEI pathological databases using HTK classifiers. We can classify them into two different type: the first classification is binary which is used for the normal and pathological voices, the second one is called a four-category classification used in spasmodic, polyp, nodule and normal female voices and male speakers. And we studied the effects of these new parameters when combined with the MFCC, Delta, Delta second and Energy coefficients.

Hybrid Electrical System (HES), combined various promising devices like a Fuel Cell, a battery and a supercapacitor, is an attractive issue. This system was qualified by its high efficiency for electrical vehicle applications. For that, this article aims to analyze and to evaluate the system performance. A Multi-Input-Multi-Output state space model for PEMFC, Supercapacitor and battery have been established and detailed. To control the load demand and to investigate sources of supply, a precise power management unit (PMU) was discussed and evaluated for the hydrogen fuel consumption and the Battery / Super-capacitor state fluctuations. The simulation results can greatly confirm the system performance using Matlab/Simulink environment.

Renewable Energy system (such as: Wind Turbine (WT)) provides a dispatching power and large-scale energy recovery. This latter is a suitable technology in Grid power systems due to its high variability and high levels of renewable generation. A variable Speed WT is one essential objective of the researches in this area. Hence, this paper proposed and discusses an efficient design based on a Higher Order Sliding Mode Control (HOSMC) applied to Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG). The HOSMC can provide a feedback linearization controller utilizes the torque estimate to ensure a torque reference. The HOSMC feedback provides the relationship between the turbine speed and an additional input. To achieve a stable error dynamics and speed tracking, a linear control theory is proposed. The applied speed reference is selected according to a classical MPPT algorithm. The reliability and the effectiveness of the proposed design is given by the Matlab / Simulink environment, from which, the obtained results have been treated and discussed in details.

Effective data transmission in sensor networksis a crucial problematic on routing researches. Hence, thispaper proposes an adaptive routing algorithm called Multi-KG based on clustering. The main contributions consist in theintegration of an improved unsupervised algorithm of the Kmeanson clusters and the use of the Gaussian eliminationalgorithm for choosing Cluster Heads (CH). To route datato the base station, a multi-hop communication Inter-CHs isadopted. In this manner, balanced-energy clusters are createdand distributed energy consumption is guaranteed. Simulationsin a wireless sensor network show that the new approachgreatly reduces computation time thanks to K-means andminimizes energy consumption thanks to Gauss. It shouldbe mentioned that 'Multi-KG' gives better results becauseit prolongs the lifetime of CHs nodes and consequently thenetwork lifetime by adopting an inter-cluster communicationand intra-cluster in a multi-Hop.

This paper proposes a new adaptive speech compression system based on discrete wave atoms transform. First, the signal is decomposed on wave atoms, then wave atom coefficients are truncated using a new adaptive thresholding which depends on the SNR estimation. The thresholded coefficients are quantized using Max Lloyd scalar quantizer. Besides, they are encoded using zero run length encoding followed by Huffman coding. Numerous simulations are performed to prove the robustness of our approach. The results of current work are compared with wavelet based compression by using objective criteria, namely CR, SNR, PSNR and NRMSE. This study shows that the wave atoms transform is more appropriate than wavelets transform since it offers a higher compression ratio and a better speech quality.

The aim of this paper is firstly to describe the design than to introduce a new approach of dynamic modeling and simulation results of a Fuel cell/Ultra capacitor (FC/ULC) hybrid power system. The developed model is represented in the state space, so it can be used to implement a suitable control strategy. The given design shows that the transient behavior, effect of the Fuel Cell, is eliminated by the use of the Ultra capacitor through the Flyback converter (FIBC). Thus, the output voltage from the source is maintained with a certain range and meets power demand of the load at high efficiency.

International audience; In medical imaging, it has been shown that watermarking can improve data protection and content enrichment. In this paper, an adaptive watermarking algorithm performed in the wavelet domain is proposed which exploits a human visual system (HVS) and a Fuzzy Inference System (FIS). Human visual system (HVS) is adopted to further ensure the watermark invisibility. The FIS is utilized to compute the optimum watermark weighting function that would enable the embedding of the maximum-energy and imperceptible watermark. For the purpose of security and robustness, a watermark sequence is embedded by selectively modifying the middle-frequency parts of the image. The experimental results achieved demonstrate that the proposed algorithm is robust against both, signal processing and geometric attacks.

International audience; Digital image watermarking has been proposed as a method to enhance medical data security, confidentiality and integrity. Medical image watermarking requires extreme care when embedding additional data, given their importance to clinical diagnosis, treatment, and research. In this paper, a novel image watermarking approach based on the human visual system (HVS) model and neural network technique is proposed. The watermark was inserted into the middle frequency coefficients of the cover image's blocked DCT based transform domain. In order to make the watermark stronger and less susceptible to different types of attacks, it is essential to find the maximum amount of interested watermark before the watermark becomes visible. In this paper, neural networks are used to implement an automated system of creating maximum-strength watermarks. The experimental results show that such method can survive of common image processing operations and has good adaptability for automated watermark embedding.

International audience; Ant colony optimization is a metaheuristic approach belonging to the class of model-based search algorithms. In this paper, we propose a new framework for implementing ant colony optimization algorithms. In this work, ACO is introduced to tackle the problem of blind watermark extraction in medical images. This approach is able to establish a pheromone matrix that represents the hidden information presented at each pixel position in, the insertion zone, according to the movements of a number of ants which are dispatched to move on the image. Furthermore, the movements of these ants are driven by the local variation of the image's intensity values. Experimental results on images are presented to illustrate the merit and feasibility of the proposed method.
