This report offers starting points for fulfilling objectives identified by Our Streets Action Committee (OSAC), a Los Angeles-based coalition of organizations focused on transportation equity and mobility justice.The report is organized around four topics:1. Indicators of Mobility (In)Justice explores data tools for visualizing the infrastructure and safety deficits we know overburden many of Los Angeles’ communities of color and low-income neighborhoods.2. Change in Paradigm: Reparative Models of Engagement lays out the shift needed to move urban planning from an extractive practice to a reparative one that builds regenerative cities, as well as examples of how planners and community organizations are accelerating this transition.3. The Funding Analysis examines how the region funds Los Angeles’ street infrastructure development and maintenance and suggests directions for increasing priority investments.4. Political Strategy for Mobility Organizing offers analysis of Los Angeles City Councilmembers’ voting records on mobility issues, along with analysis of opportunities for strategic organizing toward equitable and just mobility improvements.

This paper details the research design of a multidisciplinary, multi-method, collaborative research project investigating health communication from the experiences of the early childhood education (ECE) sector during the COVID-19 pandemic. With the rapidly evolving pandemic, the ECE sector was instantly tasked with expanding their required health practices to prevent the spread of infection. It was evident that the sector needed a system to communicate health advice in a timely, consistent and effective manner. Founded on a partnership model based on 'knowledge brokering' theory, this project demonstrates the value of a multidisciplinary research team collaborating with stakeholder organisations to investigate how COVID-19 health information traversed through complexities of organisational layers and diverse communities of families and staff. Detailing our data collection and analysis protocols, we conclude by outlining how our innovative research design is generating actionable and impactful recommendations for both the ECE and health sectors.

The interaction of an intense laser with a solid foil target can drive [Formula: see text] TV/m electric fields, accelerating ions to MeV energies. In this study, we experimentally observe that structured targets can dramatically enhance proton acceleration in the target normal sheath acceleration regime. At the Texas Petawatt Laser facility, we compared proton acceleration from a [Formula: see text] flat Ag foil, to a fixed microtube structure 3D printed on the front side of the same foil type. A pulse length (140-450 fs) and intensity ((4-10) [Formula: see text] W/cm[Formula: see text]) study found an optimum laser configuration (140 fs, 4 [Formula: see text] W/cm[Formula: see text]), in which microtube targets increase the proton cutoff energy by 50% and the yield of highly energetic protons ([Formula: see text] MeV) by a factor of 8[Formula: see text]. When the laser intensity reaches [Formula: see text] W/cm[Formula: see text], the prepulse shutters the microtubes with an overcritical plasma, damping their performance. 2D particle-in-cell simulations are performed, with and without the preplasma profile imported, to better understand the coupling of laser energy to the microtube targets. The simulations are in qualitative agreement with the experimental results, and show that the prepulse is necessary to account for when the laser intensity is sufficiently high.

BackgroundAcceptability of digital mental health interventions is a significant predictor of treatment-seeking behavior and engagement. However, acceptability has been conceptualized and operationalized in various ways, which decreases measurement precision and leads to heterogeneous conclusions about acceptability. Standardized self-report measures of acceptability have been developed, which have the potential to ameliorate these problems, but none have demonstrated evidence for validation among Black communities, which limits our understanding of attitudes toward these interventions among racially minoritized groups with well-documented barriers to mental health treatment. ObjectiveThis study aims to examine the psychometric validity and reliability of one of the first and most widely used measures of acceptability, the Attitudes Towards Psychological Online Interventions Questionnaire, among a Black American sample. MethodsParticipants (N=254) were recruited from a large southeastern university and the surrounding metropolitan area and completed the self-report measure via a web-based survey. A confirmatory factor analysis using mean and variance adjusted weighted least squares estimation was conducted to examine the validity of the underlying hierarchical 4-factor structure proposed by the original authors of the scale. An alternative, hierarchical 2-factor structure model and bifactor model were examined for comparative fit. ResultsThe findings indicated that the bifactor model demonstrated a superior fit (comparative fit index=0.96, Tucker-Lewis index=0.94, standardized root mean squared residual=0.03, and root mean square error of approximation=0.09) compared with both 2- and 4-factor hierarchical structure models. ConclusionsThe findings suggest that, within a Black American sample, there may be greater utility in interpreting the Attitudes Towards Psychological Online Interventions Questionnaire subscales as attitudinal constructs that are distinct from the global acceptability factor. The theoretical and practical implications for culturally responsive measurements were explored.

Background: Evaluation of indeterminate pulmonary nodules (IPNs) often creates a diagnostic conundrum which may delay the early detection of lung cancer. Rare circulating genetically abnormal cells (CGAC) have previously demonstrated utility as a biomarker for discriminating benign from malignant small IPNs in the LungLB assay. CGAC are identified using a unique 4-color fluorescence in-situ hybridization (FISH) assay and are thought to reflect early cell-based events in lung cancer pathogenesis and the anti-tumor immune response. LungLB is a prognostic tool that combines the CGAC biomarker and clinical features to aid in IPN evaluation by improving the stratification of patient risk of malignancy. Methods: Herein we describe the analytical performance of the LungLB blood test. Analytical validation was performed according to Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) guidelines with adaptations for rare cell-based assays. Multiple operators, reagent lots, and assay runs were tested to examine accuracy, precision, reproducibility, and interfering factors. Results: The FISH probes used in the LungLB assay demonstrate 100% sensitivity and specificity for their intended chromosomal loci (3q29, 3p22.1, 10q22.3 and 10cen). LungLB demonstrates analytical sensitivity of 10 CGAC per 10,000 lymphocytes analyzed, 100% analytical specificity, and high linearity (R2 = 0.9971). Within run measurements across 100 samples demonstrated 96% reproducibility. Interfering factors normally found in blood (lipemia, biotin) and exposure to adverse temperatures (-20ºC or 37ºC) did not interfere with results. Sample stability was validated to 96 hours. Conclusion: The analytical performance of LungLB in this validation study successfully demonstrates it is robust and suitable for everyday clinical use. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
