Topic of this master thesis is lectorship, especially as a complete presentation of lector’s activities or procedures that aim at achieving linguistic correctness. It is about an insight into lectorship profession through time from early beginnings, when lectors were only a temporary solution, until today, when in the electronic era they are an indispensable link in the chain of co-creation of a linguistically proper text, on a way to linguistic counselling and established profession. Master thesis proves lector's necessary aspiration for implementing norms of literary language, whereby she assigns to it an important linguistic-cultural role lector herself is the one that by knowing specialized linguistic technologies establishes a balanced relationship between linguistic use and codification. In the theoretical part, the notion of lectorship is defined, a procedure of computer lectorship is explained and lector's social status is presented a chapter on purism critically evaluates lector's excessive concern for language purity, yet at the same time a thesis is confirmed that lectors do their work well a chapter on linguistic policy touches the complexity of the notion of linguistic correctness, since by advocating repressive methods of ordering fines for linguistic mistakes a question arises on the responsibility of lectors or users. As a specially burning orthographic question, this work also encompasses a chapter on comma, in which a comparison is set out between Slovenian orthography 1962, Slovenian orthography 2001 and modern views on this punctuation mark. Empirical part with an analysis of various written publicistic texts confirms comma as a difficult punctuation mark a comparison is set out between revised and non-revised newspaper articles – master thesis ends with the conclusion that lector eliminates a great deal of linguistic mistakes and therefore presents a most useful help for authors.
