Abstract

It is commonly assumed that content preservation is required for success in testimonial exchanges. Many content internalists, however, cannot endorse this assumption. They must claim instead that testimonial exchanges can often succeed when the content grasped by the hearer is not the content of the speaker's testimony, p, but some merely similar content, p*. Goldberg (2007. Anti-Individualism: Mind and Language, Knowledge and Justification. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press) argues that this internalist approach is epistemically problematic: it cannot maintain certain features thought to be characteristic of testimonial exchanges. Objetivo: Evaluar la prevalencia de alto riesgo de morbilidad psiquiátrica en población adulta española y su cambio entre 2006 y 2012. Métodos: Se incluyeron 47.905 participantes de las Encuestas Nacionales de Salud de 2006 y 2012. El estado de salud mental se calculó con la puntuación del Cuestionario de salud general. Se calcularon regresiones logísticas ajustadas. Resultados: La prevalencia de alto riesgo de morbilidad psiquiátrica fue del 20,5% en 2012 y del 21,3% en 2006. Usando 2006 como referencia, la odds ratio (OR) de estos problemas en 2012 fue de 0,84 (0,79-0,89) en las mujeres y de 1,10 (1,02-1,18) en los varones. En las mujeres descendió en todas las edades. En los varones, las OR fueron de 1,15 (1,04-1,27), 1,23 (1,08-1,40) y 0,81 (0,68-0,96), para los grupos de edad de 16-44, 45-64 y ≥65 años, respectivamente. Conclusiones: La prevalencia de alto riesgo de morbilidad psiquiátrica disminuyó, salvo en los varones

Abstract

The present study covers the problem of a kinematic analysis of a spatial 5R single DOF linkage. This mechanism was constructed by combining two 4R universal mechanisms presented in tori geometry (Bil, 2012). The problem can be presented as the effect of an intersection of two tori in such a manner that the circles that form these tori do not coincide (Bil, 2010; 2011; 2012; 2012). As a result of this, a 5R model was obtained of a five-bar mechanism. It was demonstrated that there are 16 cases of the intersection of two universal tori with constant linear dimensions and that they differ with the angles of the mutual positions of rotation axes. A particular case of the five-bar mechanism presented herein is the well-known Goldberg mechanism (Goldberg, 1943), which was initially formed out of a particular case combination of two Bennett mechanisms (Bennett, 1903; Baker, 1979).

Allusions to Henrik Ibsen’s plays in the works of two prominent Israeli modernist writers, Amos Oz’s autobiographical A Tale of Love and Darkness (2004) and David Grossman’s The Zigzag Kid (1994) examined in the context of the Israeli reception of Ibsen in the 1950s and 1960s. To establish the variety of meanings Ibsen’s plays had for the audiences of the Habimah production of Peer Gynt in 1952 and The Kameri production of Hedda Gabler in 1966, this article draws on newspaper reviews and actors’ memoirs, as well as providing an analysis of Leah Goldberg’s translation of Peer Gynt. It emerges that both authors enlisted Ibsen in their exploration of the myths surrounding the formation of Israeli nationhood and identity.

El desnonament és un esdeveniment vital que pot afectar la salut mental i física. Hem administrat el qüestionari COPE-48 i el qüestionari Golberg dos grups: un grup desnonat i un no desnonat aparellat per gènere, edat i districte de residència de Barcelona (n = 25, 88% dones). Els resultats indiquen que les persones desnonades obtenen puntuacions més elevades en les escales d'ansietat i depressió del Goldberg. En les estratègies d'afrontament, les persones desnonades utilitzen l'Afrontament actiu del problema i les no desnonades l'Acceptació i creixement personal. També difereixen en la Religió, Negació, Refrenar l'afrontament, Humor i Centrar-se en les emocions., The literature on evictions describes that experiencing evictions increases anxious and depressive symptomatology. It also postulates that maladaptive coping strategies to stress are related to certain disorders. The aim of this study is to analyse whether people who have suffered a home eviction present depressive and anxious symptoms, and to observe which coping strategies are used to the face of the situation. The sample consisted of two groups: evicted people (n = 25, 88% women) and non-evicted people (n = 25, 88% women) matched by gender, age and district of residence in Barcelona or city of the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona. The results indicate that evicted people obtain higher scores on the Goldberg anxiety and depression scales. In relation to the use of coping strategies, evicted people preferentially use Active coping, while non-evicted people use Acceptance and personal growth. Both groups also differ in the values obtained in the strategies Turning to religion, Denial, Restraint coping, Humour and Focusing on emotions. The results obtained are discussed taking into account the current pandemic crisis and the cultural background of the evicted people, which may have influenced the selection of the strategies used

Abstract

El COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019), modificó el estilo de vida de cada persona, de forma inesperada cambió totalmente las responsabilidades de cada trabajador de la salud. En este trabajo se realizó un estudió en los profesionales del Centro de Atención Integral en Salud de la Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo que asumió la importante tarea de precautelar la vida de cada miembro de la institución. Estos cambios generados por la pandemia incidieron en su salud mental y bienestar psicológico, presentando diferente sintomatología. El objetivo de esta investigación fue analizar el impacto de la pandemia en el bienestar psicológico mediante el cuestionario de salud general de Goldberg que mide cuatro subescalas: síntomas somáticos, ansiedad e insomnio, disfunción social y depresión. Los resultados demuestran afectación en la salud mental con una media alta en sintomatología somática, ansiedad e insomnio. Por otro lado, existe mayor afectación en el sexo femenino, el grupo etario de 45 a 65 años, el estado civil solteros/as y en cuanto a la profesión los que ejercen la actividad administrativa. Se recomienda de manera preventiva atención psicológica y psiquiátrica en determinados casos.

Objetivo: Determinar la prevalencia del síndrome de Burnout y las condiciones de salud mental en un grupo de trabajadores de seguridad privada. Metodología: Estudio correlacional, de corte transversal, realizado en 32 coordinadores de seguridad privada en Cali (Colombia). Se aplicaron los instrumentos Maslach Burnout Inventory y el cuestionario general de salud de Goldberg. Se realizaron análisis bivariados con el test X2, considerando alpha=0,05. Resultados: Se detectó síndrome de Burnout en todos los participantes, pero en su gran mayoría en niveles bajos. En cuanto al estado de salud mental predominaron las alteraciones de la conducta y las perturbaciones del sueño. A pesar del tamaño de muestra, nuestro estudio encontró una clara asociación entre el agotamiento emocional y las perturbaciones del sueño. Conclusión: Estos resultados preliminares sugieren que aunque los niveles de Burnout son bajos en esta población, logran impactar el estado de salud mental de los trabajadores induciendo principalmente perturbaciones del sueño.

TERROR IN A THREE PIECE SUIT is a wonderful short animated film directed by Ariel Goldberg. The film develops the story of a clerk with an overactive mind who imagines monstrous happenings behind the door to the boss's office. First premiered in June, 2012 "Terror In A Three Piece Suit" has already became an official selection of several major film festivals including the Los Angeles International Children's Film Festival, San Diego International Children's Film Festival, New Orleans International Children's Film Festival, to name but a few. Additionally, the music for "Terror In A Three Piece Suit" was highly recognized by such acclaimed industry professionals as Jorge Calandrelli, Grammy Award winning and Oscar nominated composer; Peter Golub, an Award winning composer and director of the Sundance Film Music Program; and Colette Delerue, the wife of the late Oscar winning legendary Hollywood composer Georges Delerue, and the Head of the Georges Delerue Memorial Foundation.The score for "Terror In A Three Piece Suit" is a combination of four live instruments (flute/piccolo, clarinet/bass clarinet, oboe, violin) and a mockup. I composed, orchestrated, programmed and conducted the score.ORCHIS is a contemporary ballet. For my thesis I am submitting an excerpt from it. The score for "Orchis" is a combination of a live solo cello and a mockup. The overall composition is full of ambience created by electronic instruments with high piano ringing tones and long low cello notes. The music was inspired by the beautiful photographs of Cemal Ekin who was able to capture the frozen beauty of dead flowers. I composed, orchestrated, programmed and conducted the score.

Cognitive linguistics has paid much attention to the role of metaphorical patterns in language and thought. Accordingly, this article offers a diachronical view of the role of the house and home metaphors in Jewish and Israeli literary and nonliterary texts. It offers a semantic as well as a sociocultural perspective on the emergence of, and shifts in, the extended symbolic and metaphorical notion of homeland (moledet) as home. Examining this theme in the poetry of Hayim Nahman Bialik, Avraham Shlonsky, Natan Alterman, and Lea Goldberg, the article points to the process of the fading of the collective home symbol and the emergence of the normal expectation for just a home in Israeli popular songs today, while showing how the dormant metaphor can be awakened and exploited in times of threat, as well as for commercial purposes. Abstract

[Objective]: From an evolutionary perspective, emotions emerged as rapid adaptive reactions that increase survival rates. Current psychobiology includes the consideration that genetic changes affecting neuroendocrine and neurotransmission pathways may also be affecting mood states. Following this hypothesis, abnormal levels of any of the aminergic neurotransmitters would be of considerable importance in the development of a pathophysiological state. [Materials and Methods]: A total of 668 students from the School of Medicine of the University of Malaga (Average = 22.41 ± 3; 41% men) provided self‐report measures of mood states using POMS and GHQ‐28 questionnaires and buccal cells for genotyping 19 polymorphisms from 14 selected neurotransmitter pathways genes (HTR1A; HTR2A; HTR2C; HTR3B; TPH1; SLC18A1; SLC18A2; COMT; MAOA; MAOB) and neuroendocrine system (AVPR1B; OPRM1; BDNF; OXTR). [Results]: MAOA rs3788862 genotype correlates with decreasing levels of Tension among females (beta = −0.168, p‐value = 0.003) but it is neutral among males in this subscale. On the contrary, it correlates with lower GHQ‐28 depression scores among males (beta = −0.196, p‐value = 0.008). Equivalently, SLC18A1 and HTR2A variants correlated with anger and vigor scores, only among males. From the neuroendocrine system, OPRM1 rs1799971 correlated increasing levels of female's Anxiety, depression and Social Dysfunction scores. [Conclusion]: Our findings suggest that these polymorphisms contribute to define general population mood levels, although exhibiting a clear sexual dimorphism.

42. Labour ward midwives’ perceptions of stress.

Abstract

This exploratory study set out to examine labour ward midwives’ perceptions of stress. It utilized a combination of two self-report questionnaires, one devised by McGrath et al. and the GHQ12. Additional qualitative data were collected by asking midwives to produce narratives about recent stressful events. A convenience sample of the 43 midwives formed the study population and a response rate of 77% was achieved. Quantitative data were analysed using descriptive statistics and qualitative narratives were explored for content analysis. Midwives in this study demonstrated their awareness of stress in their working and personal lives and many took active steps to redress the negative effects with exercise, hobbies and talking with colleagues. However, the study revealed that 78% of the midwives indicated that having insufficient time to perform their duties was very stressful, paralleled by their perceived inability to influence work-based decisions. The study revealed that both medical and midwifery colleagues frustrated their endeavours to change an unsatisfactory condition. The GHQ12 revealed 30% of the midwives had scores above the threshold level of 2 indicating psychiatric morbidity and this is of major concern. The narratives revealed that lack of communication between the professionals about decision making was a major source of stress and as a result of this study efforts to improve multidisciplinary communication through the development of journal clubs and planned social activities is under consideration by the unit. Overall, the findings from this study highlight stress as a potential, occupational health problem in the working lives of some labour ward midwives. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Resumen Objetivo: Evaluar la prevalencia de alto riesgo de morbilidad psiquiátrica en población adulta española y su cambio entre 2006 y 2012. Métodos: Se incluyeron 47.905 participantes de las Encuestas Nacionales de Salud de 2006 y 2012. El estado de salud mental se calculó con la puntuación del Cuestionario de salud general. Se calcularon regresiones logísticas ajustadas. Resultados: La prevalencia de alto riesgo de morbilidad psiquiátrica fue del 20,5% en 2012 y del 21,3% en 2006. Usando 2006 como referencia, la odds ratio (OR) de estos problemas en 2012 fue de 0,84 (0,79-0,89) en las mujeres y de 1,10 (1,02-1,18) en los varones. En las mujeres descendió en todas las edades. En los varones, las OR fueron de 1,15 (1,04-1,27), 1,23 (1,08-1,40) y 0,81 (0,68-0,96), para los grupos de edad de 16-44, 45-64 y ≥ 65 años, respectivamente. Conclusiones: La prevalencia de alto riesgo de morbilidad psiquiátrica disminuyó, salvo en los varones < 65 años, que son más vulnerables a la crisis económica. Abstract Objective: To evaluate the prevalence of high risk of psychiatric morbidity in the Spanish adult population and its changes between 2006 and 2012. Methods: Data from 47,905 participants obtained from the National Health Surveys in 2006 and 2012 were used. Mental health status was assessed with the General Health Questionnaire score. Adjusted logistic regression models were fitted. Results: The prevalence of high risk of psychiatric morbidity was 20.5% in 2012 and 21.3% in 2006. Using 2006 as the reference, the odds ratio (OR) for these problems in 2012 was 0.84 (0.79-0.89) in women and 1.10 (1.02-1.18) in men. In women, it decreased for all ages. Conclusions: The prevalence of high risk of psychiatric morbidity decreased except in males < 65 years of age, who are more sensitive to the economic crisis.

Abstract

The present study covers the problem of a kinematic analysis of a spatial 5R single DOF linkage. This mechanism was constructed by combining two 4R universal mechanisms presented in tori geometry (Bil, 2012). The problem can be presented as the effect of an intersection of two tori in such a manner that the circles that form these tori do not coincide (Bil, 2010; 2011; 2012; 2012). As a result of this, a 5R model was obtained of a five-bar mechanism. It was demonstrated that there are 16 cases of the intersection of two universal tori with constant linear dimensions and that they differ with the angles of the mutual positions of rotation axes. A particular case of the five-bar mechanism presented herein is the well-known Goldberg mechanism (Goldberg, 1943), which was initially formed out of a particular case combination of two Bennett mechanisms (Bennett, 1903; Baker, 1979).
