Objective Light is a significant component of housing environment in commercial poultry industry. This study was conducted to investigate whether Pekin ducks perform better under monochromatic lights than under white light with respect to their growth performance, carcass quality, eyeball development, oxidation resistance, and cecal bacterial communities. Methods A total of 320 one-day-old male Pekin ducklings were randomly distributed into five rooms with different light treatments, white, red, yellow, green, and blue light. Each room consisted of 4 replicated pens with 16 ducklings per pen. Results Blue light significantly decreased fat deposition by decreasing abdominal fat. Long wavelength light, such as red, green, and yellow light, considerably increased the back-to-front eyeball diameter and the red light potentially enlarged the side-to-side eyeball diameter. Besides, the blue light had adverse effects on the oxidation resistance status in terms of increasing the product malonaldehyde of lipid oxidation and decreasing the plasma concentration of total superoxide dismutase. The phyla of Firmicutes had the greatest abundance in the green and blue treatments, while Bacteroidetes in blue treatment was the least. The genus of Faecalibacterium was significantly lower under the red light. Conclusion The high risk of cecal health status and decreased anti-oxidation activity were observed under blue light. Red, yellow, and green light might increase the risk of oversized eyeball and cecal illness. Therefore, monochromatic lights compared to white light did not show advantages on the performance of housing ducks, it turns out that the white light is the best light condition for grow-out ducks.

Endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) is closely associated with the occurrence and development of many liver diseases. ERS models mostly include experimental animals such as rats and mice. However, pigs are more similar to humans with regards to digestion and metabolism, especially liver construction, yet few reports on ERS in pigs exist. In order to explore changes in the liver under ERS, we used tunicamycin (TM), which can cause liver jaundice and damage liver function, to establish acute ERS models in piglets using a low TM dosage (LD, 0.1 mg/kg body weight (bw)), high TM dosage (HD, 0.3 mg/kg bw), or vehicle for 48 h. We found that both LD- and HD-induced ERS, as verified by the ERS-linked proteins. Furthermore, the concentrations of the proinflammatory cytokines, namely, TNF-α and IL-6 were elevated in TM-treated piglet livers, and the plasma levels of IL-6 and CRP were also higher, indicating the occurrence of inflammation in TM-treated piglets. The complement system was activated in TM-treated piglets, as indicated by increased levels of complement factors and activation products C3, C5a, and AP50. In order to gain insights into the global changes in liver proteins under ERS, we performed an isobaric tag for relative and absolute quantitation (iTRAQ)-based proteomic analysis on the livers of HD- and vehicle-treated piglets. Proteomic analysis identified 311 differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) between the two groups, and a Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis suggested that the DEPs were mainly enriched in signaling pathways such as metabolic pathways, protein processing in the endoplasmic reticulum, and complement and coagulation cascades. Many proteins involved in protein folding, lipid transport, and oxidation were upregulated. Proteins involved in lipid synthesis were downregulated to alleviate liver steatosis, and most complement factors were upregulated to protect the body, and Pearson correlation analysis found that most of the DEPs in the complement and coagulation pathway were significantly correlated with plasma CRP, IL6 and AP50. Our results revealed that TM can activate ERS, marked by liver injury and steatosis, inflammatory reactions, and complement activation in piglets.

The mechanism of pore evolution in vacuum electron beam joints of Mo-14Re alloy has been thoroughly investigated. Microscopic characterization methods, including Optical Microscopy (OM) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), were employed to explore the evolution mechanism of pore defects at different locations. Weld defects were further characterized using Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), providing insights into their formation mechanisms. The findings reveal that pores along grain boundaries are the result of MoO and CO bubble aggregation. Non-equilibrium solidification of the melt triggers chemical reactions, transforming MoO and CO bubbles into MoO3 and C, with lower melting points. MoO3 and C persist in the pores, leading to the formation of grain boundary gas hole defects. On the other hand, intragranular pore defects stem from an abundance of pores within the matrix material. Upon entry of gas from these pores into the molten pool, its escape is impeded due to the intense influence of the molten pool. After the molten pool completes the cooling and solidification process, the gas remains within the crystal, resulting in intragranular pore defects.

The rare molybdenum resources are being increasingly used in heavy industries. In this study, the common unidirectional and cross hot rolling operations, for pure molybdenum plates, were numerically simulated by using MSC. Marc software. An elastic–plastic finite element model was employed, together with the updated Lagrange method, to predict stress and strain fields in the workpiece. The results showed that there was a typical three-dimensional additional compressive stress (σy> σz > σx) in the deformation zone, while strain could be divided into uniaxial compressive strain and biaxial tensile strain (εy > εx > εz). Tensile stress σx increased with the accumulation of reduction and the decrease in friction coefficient at the edge of the width spread. More importantly, the interlaced deformation caused by cross-commutations, which were helpful in repairing the severe anisotropy created by unidirectional hot rolling. The evolution of the temperature field of pure molybdenum plate was investigated. The surface quenching depth of the pure molybdenum plate was about 1/6 H under different initial temperatures and reductions. In addition, the fundamental reason for the nonuniform distribution of stress and strain fields was the joint influence of rolling stress, contact friction, and external resistance. By comparing the theoretical simulation value of the model with the experimental verification data, we found that the model was aligning well with the actual engineering.

Accurate assessment of feed's Cairiohydrate (CHO) and protein nutritional values and rumen metabolism a e significant for dairy production. Cornell Net Carbohydrate and Protein System (CNCP) a an important method to evaluate feedstuff nutritional values, hasn't been widely used in China. In order to iilustrate updates of CNCP systems deeply, the following sections were reviewed: (i) CHO and protein fractions were updated, CA was subdivided into CA1, CA2, C A and CA4 in CNCPS v6.1, protein was reclassified into PA1, PA2, PB1, PB2 and PC after CNCP v6.1. Content of CHO and protein fractions vary in different feedstuff and afected by feed processing; (ii) Degradation rates (Kd) values for the new CA expaded scheme were updated to 0, 7, 5, 40 - 60% h 1 respectively, Kd for PA and PB1 decreased to 200% h 1 and 10 - 40% h 1; (i i i) Equations for passage rate (Kp) initially includes Kpf (Kp of forages) and Kpc (Kp of concentrates), and adjusted by effective NDF (eNDF), while in CNCP v5.0, Kpl (Kp of liquids) equation was added and eNDF was replaced by physicaüy effective NDF (peNDF). In CNCP v6.1, FpBW and CpBW were integrated into Kp equations and peNDF was abandoned. (iv) The relationship and diference among Weende system of proximate an alysis, Van Soest fiber analysis[35], NRC (2001) [ 2 8 ] and CNCP were analyzed. The first two systems laid the foundation for NRC (2001) and CNCP system. The latter two systems a e different in CHO and protein division, also NRC (2001) developed separate Kp equations for wet and dry forages but no equation for Kpl. CNCPS developed a Kp equation that work for wet and dry forages, and Kpl equation was established.
