International audience; The paper presents the development of a test bench for the investigation of faults in a power drive. Firstly, the presentation is made for different components in an induction machine drive. Secondly, since the machine parameters are controlled by PWM signals via IGBT converter, a PWM generator is built in order to control the machine and create different types of faults related to the drive of the converter. Subsequently, simulation and experiment are carried out for two typical faults of the converter: intermittent gate-misfiring fault and open-circuit fault. Finally, since the machine speed is usually required for the calculation of characteristic frequencies of most faults in the induction machine, it is estimated on the basis of the slot frequency component in the spectral of stator current and total input power. The obtained results are the evidence to show that the test bench is appropriately usable for the investigation of not only the normal operation but efficiently for the fault exploration.

International audience; This paper deals with the problem of diagnosis of faults in energy management for electric traction system. In fact, a bilinear model for the DC-DC (Boost and Buck/Boost) power converters is proposed. The analytical approach of residual generation using the observers with unknown inputs is reviewed, the computation of a bank of residual generators is exploited for fault detection and isolation, in the presence of disturbance. To illustrate the effectiveness of this method, simulations using Matlab/simulink are carried out.

National audience; Cette note présente une forme canonique non linéaire qui supporte un observateur d'ordre réduit. Puis, elle expose les conditions géométriques suffisantes et nécessaires qui assurent l'existence d'un changement de coordonnées transformant un système non linéaire sous une telle forme.

National audience; Le travail présenté ici correspond à la mise au point d'un observateur de type grand-gain servant à estimer la germination d'un procédé de cristallisation en " batch " en se basant sur la mesure en ligne de la concentration en soluté. Le procédé de cristallisation est modélisé à partir de la méthode des moments, nous effectuons ensuite un changement de variable pour se mettre sous une forme proche de la forme canonique d'observabilité. L'observateur que nous construisons est réalisé à partir de ce modèle. Nous ajoutons une partie de dilatation des pôles de la matrice d'observabilité pour améliorer les résultats. La validation de ce travail est basée sur une cristallisation de l'oxalate d'ammonium, la concentration en soluté est mesurée sur toute la durée de l'expérience et une mesure de la distribution finale en taille de cristaux est effectue par l'intermédiaire d'une sonde vidéo " in-situ ". La figure suivante représente les résultats obtenues en simulant la distribution finale en utilisant la germination estimée par l'observateur.

National audience; Ce premier travail de thèse est la suite des travaux effectués par Flila où il s'agissait de trouver optimalement la commande à appliquer pendant l'expérience tout en estimant le paramètre inconnu du modèle. Cette commande permettait d'optimiser un critère (en fonction de la sensibilité de la sortie par rapport au paramètre du modèle non linéaire à identifier). Cette approche couplant contrôleur prédictif sous contraintes et observateur d'état était résolu en ligne à chaque instant de l'expérience d'identification. Cet article vise à présenter un travail de synthèse dans ce domaine via une étude bibliographique sur le design du plan d'expériences couplé à l'identification. En effet, divers mots clefs ont été sélectionnés : (optimal) experimental design, design of (optimal) experiment(s), DOE, input design. Divers points d'analyse sont soulevés ici : les différents journaux et conférences dans lesquels ces thèmes ont été présentés, les différents auteurs qui se sont intéressés à ces sujets, et les approches, modèles et solutions qu'ils ont utilisées.

In the case where a nonlinear system, which is characterized by a normal form, is observable independently on the input, it is shown here that the gain of this observer does not require any differential equation. In this paper, we also investigate the problem of the high gain observer of a class of nonlinear systems which are not observable independently on the input. It is shown that if the input satisfies some observability condition, then an exponential observer, whose gain derived from a Lyapunov differential equation, can be designed.

Il s'agit de trouver la commande à appliquer pendant l'expérience qui permet d'optimiser un critère basé sur la sensibilité de la mesure par rapport au paramètre du modèle à identifier. Basé sur un modèle non linéaire du procédé, cette approche couplant un contrôleur prédictif et un observateur résout en ligne le problème d'identification paramétrique à chaque instant. Notre attention s'est attachée sur le problème de commande prédictive non linéaire sous contraintes, afin de maintenir l'utilisation du procédé dans un zone spécifiée. Cette approche d'identification optimale est appliquée ici sur un premier problème simple en Génie des Procédés (une réaction de saponification).

L'identification paramétrique (Ljung 1999) consiste généralement en deux étapes : dans un 1er temps, on réalise des expérimentations sur le procédé, par excitation sur les conditions opératoires manipulables durant l'expérience. Dans un second temps, ces données entrée/sortie sont traitées pour en extraire la valeur numérique des paramètres du modèle non connus jusqu'ici. On se focalise ici sur le problème couplé de design optimal d'expérience (Pronzato, 2008) et d'identification en ligne (Keesman et Stigter, 2002), où la question principale est la suivante : comment le signal d'excitation d'un procédé (à son entrée), à appliquer pour obtenir les mesures utilisées pour l'identification, peut-il être choisi en ligne de telle manière que le paramètre inconnu du modèle soit en même temps estimé, et ce d'une façon optimale et en prenant compte de diverses contraintes ? Dans le large spectre étudié en identification, cette nouvelle approche est basée sur l'optimisation, durant l'expérience, d'un critère qui est fonction de la sensibilité de la sortie mesurée par rapport au paramètre du modèle à identifier. Cette approche, basée sur la mesure en ligne disponible et sur un modèle du procédé, et couplant des techniques de commande prédictive (Qin et Badgwell, 2003) et d'observateur (Hammouri et al., 2009), assure d'une part, une conduite du procédé dans les contraintes d'exploitation et, d'autre part, l'identification optimale en ligne d'un paramètre inconnu du modèle. Les deux problèmes, conduite optimale et identification, sont donc couplés comme problème global de conduite. Diverses contraintes peuvent être prises en compte : celles classiques sur l'entrée et la mesure du procédé (aussi sur l'état du procédé qui est estimé ici), mais aussi celles sur les contraintes d'observabilité (propre au problème d'identification). En tant qu'approchel générique, les perspectives d'application sont donc assez larges. L'exemple traité ici concerne ici un procédé de saponification. Le problème d'optimisation pour l'identification en ligne est de trouver un profil optimal de débit d'alimentation en soude qui maximise la sensibilité de la concentration d'acétate d'éthyle par rapport à la constante de vitesse de réaction (qui est le paramètre à identifier).

Multi-reaction processes operated in a sequence of operating modes are considered, where the control variable is the switch between different operating modes. In order to determine the optimal switching instants that minimize the final time to reach the target, a reachability analysis and a study of dynamical properties are first investigated. This leads to a reduced model and the characterization of reachable switching sequences. Optimization tools are then used to determine the optimal switching instants

International audience; Since 1998 [3], the yearly mean publication rate of papers using a first principle model for control has been multiplied by 11! This increase is quiet similar to the increase of the control papers in drying based on optimal control strategies, like MPC. With 60 000 products dried and 100 dryer types used worldwide [1], a real potential exists. With control tools like MPC, it is expected that the industrial drying operation will continue to improve its energy efficiency while enhancing product quality and reducing the negative environmental impact of dryers.

The system includes a wireless communication system (8) for the surveyed temperature data and a processing module (16) for said data, located externally to the lyophilization chamber, programmed to determine at least one parameter indicative of the progress of the lyophilization process not measured by the measurement system, through the use of a predetermined representation model of the process, capable of correlating a local temperature value of the container with the parameter.

In optimal input design problem, analytical solution exists for few particular cases based on a relatively simple model. The approach proposed here may be used for a process based on a continuous model in the time domain, with two assumptions on the observability and the general structure of the model. The new proposed approach is to solve a model predictive control problem coupled with an on line process parameter estimation at each time using an observer. A dynamic parametric sensitivity model (derived from the process model) is also used on line to get the parametric sensitivity that has to be optimized. Both optimal input and estimated model parameter are therefore obtained on line. The case study presented here is a powder coating curing process where the main thermal parameter to identify influences the powder curing. First simulation results show here the efficiency of the approach in the control software (MPC@CB) developed under Matlab.

The RFR aims to destruct volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which are noxious products and are the source of a lot of problems: pollution, acid rains, woods wasting, green house effect and health hazards. Due to the public regulations, the VOCs discharge in the atmosphere becomes therefore more and more limited. The RFR is characterized by a periodic cycle of treatment of the VOC flow, allowing trapping the heat of reaction inside the core of the RFR. This allows using the RFR in an autothermal mode. The control problem tackled here is to maintain the RFR is this mode, such that the RFR extinction is avoided, and such that the catalyst elements are not destroyed. Effects of the influencing stochastic variations of the inlet pollutant concentration (the input disturbance) have to be accounted for by the optimal constrained tuning of the dilution rate and the internal electric heating. Optimal closed-loop performances of a linear quadratic regulator (LQR) and a model predictive controller (MPC) are compared through simulations.

In the proposed control approach, any online control problem concerned with a constrained optimization during the primary drying stage may be stated. It is solved using a special model predictive control framework where the model is used in the controller formulation. Our first simulation results show here the efficiency of the control software developed (MPC@CB) under Matlab. MPC@CB may be easily used for any other process and any constrained control problem.
