Abstract

An exact solution based on a unique procedure is presented for free vibration of stepped circular and annular functionally graded (FG) plates via first-order shear deformation plate theory of Mindlin. A power-law distribution of the volume fraction of the components is considered for the Young's Modulus and Poisson's ratio of the studied FG plate. Free vibration of the plate is solved by introducing some new potential functions and the use of separation of variables method. Finally, several comparisons of the developed model were presented with the FEA analysis, to demonstrate the accuracy of the proposed exact procedure. Abstract

In view of the great importance of dynamical behavior prediction of nanostructures in contact with fluid and their vast range of applications in biomedical engineering, aerospace, etc., in this research, the free vibration of a Nanoscale Euler-Bernoulli rotating beam coupled with incompressible viscous fluid is studied. Small-scale effects are applied by using nonlocal elasticity theory. Using the Navier-Stokes relation, the interaction forces between the fluid and nanobeam are obtained. Governing differential equations have been solved by Galerkin method and the system vibrations frequency response has been obtained for clamped-free boundary condition. Based on the results of this research, nonlocal elasticity has a different effect on different vibration modes. The frequency of the nanobeam coupled with the fluid quickly increases when applying this theory, and the presence of fluid reduces the natural frequencies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Dynamics of cracked nanobeams surrounded by size-dependent Winkler –Pasternak medium are investigated utilizing the two-phase local/nonlocal elasticity, as a paradox-free form of the nonlocal theory, in order to considering the nonlocal effect on both of the defected nanobeam and the two-parameter elastic medium. To this aim, governing equations as well as all boundary and compatibility conditions including the constitutive ones corresponding to the two-phase cracked nanobeam and the two-phase medium are derived. The exact solution is presented by combining the governing equations and satisfying all higher order boundary conditions. To confirm the validity of the present formulation and results, several comparison studies are established in detail. The influences of different parameters such as local phase fraction factor, crack characteristics and nonlocal parameter on vibration frequencies are discussed. The present results reveal that applying size dependency on the Winkler –Pasternak medium surrounding the nanobeams leads to significant changes in the vibration frequencies of both intact and defected nanobeams. Also, impact of nonlocal effects can increase or decrease in the defected nanobeams depending on the crack characteristics. This research can be useful to achieve more accurate predictions in vibration analysis of defected nanostructures embedded in two-parameter medium. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
