Much attention in (Al) is focused on creating and training smarter models. As these models grow in accuracy, they increase size and inefficiency. Inference acceleration enables to solve ever-larger problems on ever-smaller devices.

Rice is primarily, a high energy or high caloric food. It contains less protein than wheat. The by-product of rice milling are used for a varieties of purposes. Rice is life: reflects the importances of rice as a primary source. Data were collected from 100 sample farms spread over 8 village of Sadat block. The overall average size of farms and average number of sample farm families were 1.47 ha 11.37, respectively. Overall farms cropping intensity were found to be 192.93 per cent. Marketable and marketed surplus trends were increasing with increase size of farms. Per farm marketable surplus was observed to be 3.74, 28.86, 32.27 and 125.45 quintals under marginal, small, medium and large size of sample farms, respectively with an average of 19.60 quintals. Per farm marketed surplus was observed to be 6.18, 27.97, 30.52 and 108.90 quintals under marginal, small, medium and large size of sample with an overall average of 19.70 quintal. Marginal farmers were sold more than the marketable surplus to meet their cash obligations and re-purchase the rice from the market in a later period to meet their family and/or farm requirements. It has been observed that the from period December to February covers the maximum disposal of unhusked rice by all size groups of farmers.

Large-scale commercial production of pitaya is recent and there is little information on pollination and fruiting in this crop. Therefore, the objective of the present study was to investigate if the Africanized honeybee (Apis mellifera), frequent visitor of pitaya flowers (Hylocereus undatus and H. polyrhizus), plays any relevant role in the pollination of these cacti species, both in terms of fruit quantity and fruit quality. The study consisted of four treatments: natural pollination; restricted pollination; nocturnal pollination and pollination by A. mellifera, and all fruits were harvested and analyzed at 30 days after setting. Each treatment was evaluated in the number of fruits produced, total weight of the fruit; skin weight; pulp weight; longitudinal and transverse size; number of seeds; pH; acidity; total soluble solids (TSS); and TSS/total acidity ratio. Results showed that these pitaya species differ in their dependence on biotic pollination for the production, weight and quality of fruits. H. undatus did not depend on bees to set fruits but needed the moth Agrius cingulata to improve yield quality with larger and heavier fruits. On the other hand, H. polyrhizus depended on biotic pollination to maximize fruit production and Apis mellifera specifically to increase size and weight of fruits. In addition, the tested types of pollination influenced little the physical-chemical characteristics of fruits, being only relevant in the reduction of the pH in flowers pollinated by A. mellifera. RESUMO A produção comercial em grande escala de pitaia é recente e há pouca informação sobre polinização e frutificação nesta cultura. Portanto, o presente estudo teve por objetivo investigar se a abelha africanizada (Apis mellifera), visitante frequente das flores de pitaia (Hylocereus undatus e H. polyrhizus), desempenha algum papel relevante na polinização dessas espécies de cactáceas, tanto no que se refere à quantidade dos frutos, como em suas qualidades. O estudo constou de quatro tratamentos; polinização natural; polinização restrita; polinização noturna e polinização por A. mellifera, e todos os frutos foram colhidos e analisados 30 dias após o vingamento inicial. Cada tratamento foi avaliado no número de frutos produzidos, peso total do fruto; peso da casca; peso da polpa; tamanho longitudinal e transversal; número de sementes; pH; acidez; sólidos solúveis totais (SST); e relação SST/acidez total. Os resultados mostraram que essas espécies de pitaia diferem na sua dependência de polinização biótica para a produção, peso e qualidade dos frutos. Hylocereus undatus não dependeu de abelhas para vingar frutos, mas precisou da mariposa Agrius cingulata para melhorar a qualidade da produção com frutos maiores e mais pesados. Já H. polyrhizus dependeu da polinização biótica para maximizar a produção de frutos e de A. mellifera, especificamente, para aumentar o tamanho e peso dos frutos. Além disso, o tipo de polinização influenciou pouco as características físico-químicas dos frutos, sendo relevante apenas na redução do pH em flores polinizadas por A. mellifera.

Introduction Relations between scars characteristics and genetic background in patients with arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) has not been investigated so far. Objective To investigate if genetic background change the scars characteristics in ARVC. Method 66 patients with ARVC (24 with culprit mutation) having undergone endocardial mapping have been retrospectively included. Every patient had a diagnosis of ARVC according to the task force criteria. Localisations, surfaces and perimeters of low votage areas ( Results Mutated patients more often had altered right ventricular ejection fraction ( Conclusion In our ARVC population, culprit mutations increase size and number of intracardiac scars and degree of biventricular involvment, and localize scars in infero-lateral areas compared to patients without mutation.

This study aimed to examine the factors that affect the profitability of insurance companies in Palestine. Unbalanced panel data was utilized from seven insurance companies operating in Palestine from 2006 to 2018 to estimate a linear model between determinants theoretically expected to affect performance and the profitability of insurance firms. Findings revealed that size, growth and liquidity significantly positively affect the insurance firm’s profitability while motor claims, on the other hand, have a significant negative effect on the insurance company’s profitability. Other factors including claims ratio and leverage ratio have no significant effect on profitability of insurance firms. The main implications of these results are that Palestinian insurance companies should diversify their insurance portfolio away from motor insurance and keep higher liquidity levels to enhance profitability. Further, some insurance companies are recommended to merge with other companies to increase size and to gain economies of scale. اختبرت هذه الدراسة العوامل التي تؤثر في ربحية شركات التأمين في فلسطين، وقد استخدمت بيانات طولية مقطعية غير متوازنة من سبع شركات تأمين تعمل في فلسطين من سنة 2006 وحتى 2018 لتقدير نموذج انحدار خطي بين محددات الربحية التي تم تحديدها نظريا وبين ربحية شركات التأمين، أظهرت النتائج ان حجم الشركة ومعدل نموها وسيولتها تؤثر ايجابيا على الربحية بينما حصة تأمين السيارات من اجمالي محفظة التأمين تؤثر سلبيا على الشركة، بعض العوامل الاخرى كنسبة الادعاءات ونسبة الرفع المالي لم يكن لها تأثير على الربحية، التوصيات الاساسية للدراسة هي ان على شركات التأمين في فلسطين تنويع محفظتها التأمينية خارج تأمين السيارات لتحسين الربحية، وأيضا تنصح بعض شركات التأمين بالاندماج لزيادة الحجم وتحقيق اقتصاديات الحجم الكبير في عملياتها.

Kabuki syndrome (KS, KS1: OMIM 147920 and KS2: OMIM 300867) is caused by pathogenic variations in KMT2D or KDM6A. KS is characterized by multiple congenital anomalies and neurodevelopmental disorders. Growth restriction is frequently reported. Here we aimed to create specific growth charts for individuals with KS1, identify parameters used for size prognosis and investigate the impact of growth hormone therapy on adult height. Growth parameters and parental size were obtained for 95 KS1 individuals (41 females). Growth charts for height, weight, body mass index (BMI) and occipitofrontal circumference were generated in standard deviation values for the first time in KS1. Statural growth of KS1 individuals was compared to parental target size. According to the charts, height, weight, BMI, and occipitofrontal circumference were lower for KS1 individuals than the normative French population. For males and females, the mean growth of KS1 individuals was -2 and -1.8 SD of their parental target size, respectively. Growth hormone therapy did not increase size beyond the predicted size. The imperative to reduce emissions to counteract climate change has led to the use of renewables progressively in more areas. Looking at district heating, there is a growing interest in coupling current production systems and carbon-neutral technologies. This paper presents a methodology to support decision making about carbon-neutral technologies for district heating. The process is organized in two stages, the first one aims at optimizing the different carbon-neutral technologies according to an objective function and assess uncertainties and dependencies. In the second stage, the alternatives are evaluated using Stochastic Multicriteria Acceptability Analysis (SMAA), a simulation-based method specifically designed to consider imprecise information. The methodology was applied to a case-study in Torino, Italy, which simulates the city district heating network at a smaller scale, with the aim to explore strategies for replacing gas boiler with more sustainable technologies. According to preference information provided by decision makers, the most preferred alternative resulted in the introduction of a solar heat plant combined with an increase size of daily heat storage. Solar heat can benefit from incentives while reducing operational costs and emissions, maximizing the use of carbon-neutral heat thanks to the storage.

In this paper, the authors consider dynamics of partitioned vibratory feeders with rubber elastic couplings. Use of vibratory feeders (including partitioned ones) and schemes for the ore vibrating drawing, feeding and loading in underground conditions allowed to mechanize one of the most time-consuming and dangerous processes of uranium ore mining and to solve the following problems: to improve effectiveness of the lumpy rock mass drawing and loading by 2.5-3 times; to increase intensity of mining operations and reduce life of the excavation blocks and horizons; to reduce labor intensity and cut cost of the process of ore drawing and loading; to improve uniformity of the rock-mass outflowing from the discharge opening and to reduce by 3-5 times frequency of the large-lump material freezing (use of partitioned feeders reduces number of freezes by 25-60 times); to increase size of commercial lump panels; practically to exclude traumas during the process of ore drawing and loading (usually, it presents 30-60 % of all traumas caused by the underground operations); to mechanize process of ore drawing and loading, and to create conditions for implementation of low-waste cyclic-and-continuous mining technology.

Introduction. Sinus lift operations are planned in atrophic maxillary residual alveolar bone. There is little evidence how the quality and quantity of residual bone influence the dimension of sinus lifts. Aim of the Study. To evaluate relationship between amount of residual alveolar bone and sinus lift dimension. Materials and Methods. 73 sinuses of 54 patients were included in to the study. Preoperative and postoperative cone beam computed tomography scan of sinus lift operation site was performed. The measurement of atrophic alveolar bone height, width and radiodensity in planned sinus lift area was done. Postoperatively sinus lift height, width and length were measured. The sinus volume difference from both scans was calculated. Amount of bone substitute materials used was registered. Results. Residual alveolar bone mean height was 3.84 mm SD±2.28, width 7.15 mm SD±2.27, radiodensity 142.74 HU SD±155.38. Postoperatively mean sinus lift height was 15.81 mm SD±2.91, length 18.73 mm SD±5.21, width 12.70 mm SD±2.49. The mean sinus volume difference was 2422.70 mm3 SD± 3415.92. Mean amount of biomaterials used was 1.29 g SD±0.67. Conclusions. The less bone radiodensity was found in alveolar bone with more dimensions. The less quantity of atrophic alveolar bone leads to increase size of sinus lift.

The buoyancy of Microcystis colonies is a principal factor determining blooms occurrence but the knowledge of seasonal variation in buoyancy is quite poor because of challenge in analysis method. In this study, a method based on the Stokes’ Law after researching on the effects of shapes on settling velocity of Microcystis colonies, whose gas vesicles were collapsed, to accurately measure density was established. The method was used in Lake Taihu. From January to May, mean density of Microcystis colonies decreased from 995 kg m−3 to 978 kg m−3 and then increased to 992 kg m−3 in December. The density of colonies in different Microcystis species was in the order M. wesenbergii > M. aeruginosa > M. ichthyoblabe. For all the Microcystis species, the density of colonies with gas vasicles increased significantly along with the increase of colony size. Our results suggested that the main driving factor of Microcystis blooms formation in Lake Taihu was low density for M. ichthyoblabe from May to July but was large colony size for M. wesenbergii and M. aeruginosa from August to October.

In order to shorten the spheroidizing annealing time, the effects of annealing time on microstructure and hardness of GCr15 have been researched by using OM, SEM and Vickers hardness tester. The original microstructural constituent of bearing steel is pearlite and cementite. Prolonged time at 805°Cwill decrease the number and increase size of cementite particles. After incomplete austenization at 805°C, prolonged time at 720°C induces increase of particle size, and uniform distribution of divorced pearlite. The hardness of specimens treated with different spheroidization process fluctuates around 200HV, and is equivalent to that with conventional spheroidization process. It is realizable to shorten the annealing time on the premise of good quality of bearing steel.

Growth hormone (GH) can increase size and dimensions of rat hearts. The aim was to study how GH administration influences the growth of cardiac myocytes and capillaries in relation to time. A comprehensive investigation was carried out to determine the effect of exogenous melatonin treatment of pre-veraison grapes on grape berries and its wines. Two melatonin treatments of pre-veraison grape berries increased the weight of the berries by approximately 6.6%. Meanwhile, this melatonin treatment could be beneficial in the reduction of underripe and overripe fruits and in enhancing the synchronicity of the berries. In addition, there were significant differences in the volatile compound composition between the wine produced from the melatonin-treated berries and the wines made from untreated berries. The wine from melatonin-treated pre-veraison grape berries had stronger fruity, spicy, and sweet sensory properties, compared to the wines made from untreated berries. Prolonging the treatment through repeated applications can enhance these effects and under different seasonal conditions, more pronounced effects on the grape quality and wine properties can be observed.

In 15 women with normal biphasic cycles we measured the size of the uterus by means of ultrasound, weekly during one month. As comparison we used a group of 10 women with hormonal contraception. In normally menstruated women the shortest diameters of the corpus uteri were found at the end of the 2nd week of the cycle, the maximal increase size of about 25%, shortly before menstruation. In women with hormonal contraception no significant changes in size were found, obviously as a result of the decreased production of sexual steroids.

We point to the vast empirical literature in banking to argue that the current expansion of scale and scope in banking represents a puzzle. We then present two explanations that help us to understand why banks are getting bigger and doing more. Our explanations suggest that banks may be doing this to increase their shareholders’ wealth and/or merely to enhance the reputation of their management (CEOs). The latter could lead to herd behavior involving banks that increase size and scope despite a dissipation of shareholders’ wealth. Alternatively, increasing size and scope may oAer strategic benefits (and hence increase shareholder wealth) in an environment with suAcient profitability in current operations and substantial uncertainty about future core competencies. To determine if multiple applications of GA3 would increase size of parthenocarpic fruit, and to assess the interaction between GA3 applications and pollination, `Beckyblue' rabbiteye blueberry (Vaccinium ashei Reade) flowers were treated with single or multiple applications of GA3 alone or in combination with full or partial pollination. Single or multiple applications of GA3 resulted in similar or increased fruit set compared with pollination, and increased fruit set compared with no pollination. GA3 applications decreased fruit mass and increased the fruit development period in comparison with pollination alone. Multiple, late applications of GA3 were ineffective in overcoming these effects. Partial (nonsaturating) pollination resulted in an average fruit set of 60%, while set following GA3 treatment in combination with full or partial pollination averaged 85%. Fruit mass was greater in the full pollination ±GA3 treatments than in all other treatments. The number of large seeds and seed mass per fruit were greatest in the full pollination treatment, and were significantly decreased by all treatments in which GA3 and/or partial pollination were used; however, there were no concomitant effects of GA3 in delaying the fruit development period. Our results indicate that under optimal pollination conditions, no detrimental effects of GA3 applications on fruit set, fruit size, or fruit development period in blueberry are to be expected, even though GA3 reduces seed number and seed mass. Furthermore, GA3 applications appear to be beneficial in increasing fruit set under suboptimal pollination conditions, although smaller fruit are to be expected under such conditions. Anabolic steroids have been used by athletes since the 1950s to increase size and strength in order to improve their performance. The abuse of these substances has since expanded to include junior high and high school male and female athletes and non-athletes. The anabolic and androgenic effects of these agents, when taken in the doses needed to produce increases in size and strength, result in significant serious adverse effects involving the skin, liver, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, endocrine and reproductive systems. Some of these effects are irreversible. It is essential that clinical toxicologists, emergency room physicians and psychiatrists are familiar with the physical and psychological effects, as well as the changes in laboratory parameters, that typically occur from chronic use of anabolic steroids. The toxicities and representative clinical profiles of steroid users are presented, and the methods available for diagnostic screening using psychological testing and urine analysis are also reviewed.

The running liquid Ga droplets on GaAs surface (001) are presented and analyzed by scanning electron microscope and atomic force microscope. Self-motion of Ga droplet on GaAs surface is confirmed by microscope measurements. The liquid droplets are found to move with an initial critical diameter and constantly increase size during motion. The critical diameter of moving Ga droplets is observed to be 1.9 μm on GaAs (011) surface at preparation temperature 680 °C. A linear relationship is found between droplet diameter and trail length. These experiment results are qualitatively analyzed to understand the phenomenon of self-running Ga droplets on GaAs surface.

The perception of distance and size in the presence of optical gradient information was investigated under four viewing conditions—binocular view with and without head motion, and monocular view with and without head motion. Subjects (60 adults) matched distance intervals (from 15 to 127 cm) and heights of a target triangle (from 5 to 15 cm) by adjusting the length of a metal tape. Both linear and power functions were fitted to each individual’s distance judgments, and the competing perceptual models were compared. For both models, it was found that binocular information was sufficient to specify relative, but not absolute, distance, that monocular information was sufficient to specify an orderly relation between target distance and judgment but not absolute distance, that average error was less in the binocular conditions, and that perceived distance was not affected in either condition by the addition of head motion. The analysis of size judgments revealed that monocular and binocular judgments did not differ, that matches made with and without head motion did not differ, and that, in all conditions, matches exceeded target heights by an average 30% to 40%. Judged size was also analyzed as a function of target distance. In all conditions but monocular view with head motion, the effect of distance was to increase size judgments. The distance judgments support the hypothesis (Purdy, 1958) that the binocular stimulus carries information that the monocular stimulus does not; they fail to support the hypothesis (Gibson, 1966) that observer motion adds information to the static stimulus. The size judgments support neither hypothesis but suggest an independence of perceived size from perceived distance.
