Internal rural-urban migration is becoming a priority in social research. However, no one has systematically studied the intentions of farmers to migrate internally to Bangladesh to seek permanent urban residence via paid employment yet. This paper develops a TPB (theory of planned behaviour) model to explain farmers' intentions to migrate or not migrate to cities for paid employment; then, this paper tests the model against the data collected. A total 372 individuals (migrated farmers) were randomly chosen from 11,200 families who had left a rural area in Bangladesh to collect quantitative data about the issues raised in the model; the data were collected by a telephone interview. The socioeconomic profile of the respondents fits that of internal migrants identified in the literature, and the Cronbach's alpha as well as composite reliability statistics suggest that the data are representative of the population. According to the structural equation modelling (SEM) data, attitudes towards migration (ATTs) and subjective norms (SNs) have an impact on migration intention (MI), while perceived behavioural control (PBC) show no significant effect. This study used a primary dataset from interviews with rural migrants working in different sectors in different cities in Bangladesh. This suggests that the planned behaviour model may help explain farmers' decisions to migrate internally in Bangladesh and that policies based on the model may successfully reduce such migration. Background: Hypertension and dyslipidemia are two common and major risk factors for cardiovascular disease, accounting for the majority of morbidity and mortality among Bangladesh population. In this study, our main goal was to evaluate the lipid profile abnormalities among patients with essential hypertension. Material and Methods: This case-control study was conducted at the department of the Cardiology, M. Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital, Dinajpur, Bangladesh, from March 2021 to February 2022. A total of 500 participants were recruited as the study population. Among them, 250 were primarily hypertensive patients of the age group between 30 to 70 years, as the case group, and 250 non-hypertensive patients of the same age group who attended OPD and indoor department of the hospital for other illnesses were recruited as the control group. Results: The majority of the study population (36.4%) was in 60-70 years of age group, followed by 27% in 50-59 years, 21.2% were in 40-49 years and 15.4% were in 30-39 years of age group. In hypertensive group majority (59.2%) of the patients were male and 40.8% were female. Where as in the control group, 50.4% were female, and 49.6% were male. Higher BMI status was seen in cases, 25.53±3.94 and control 24.33±4.09. In hypertensive patients (Cases) mean systolic blood pressure (SBP) was 153.52 ± 24.40 mm Hg and mean diastolic blood pressure (DBP) was 94.56 ± 15.59 mm Hg and Control group had normal blood pressure. Raised levels of total cholesterol, triglycerides, and LDL were noted among hypertensive patients than that of control group and which was found to be statistically significant. Conclusion: This study shows significant difference in different components of cholesterol levels between hypertensive and normotensive study population suggesting dyslipidemia as a common association in hypertensive patients. Abstract: Introduction: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic, systemic and autoimmune disease affecting 0.5–1% of the world population. Genetic and environmental factors are already established as being involved in the development of RA. Different human leukocyte antigen (HLA)‐DRB1 alleles have major pathogenic effects to the development of RA. Objective: To determine the HLA‐DRB1 allelic frequency of RA in one Bangladeshi tertiary care center. Methods: This case–control study was conducted at the Microbiology and Rheumatology Department of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). Fifty‐two patients diagnosed as having RA and 52 healthy controls were enrolled. Buccal swabs were collected from all subjects and HLA‐DRB1 typing was carried out with polymerase chain reaction with sequence‐specific primers (PCR‐SSP) of low resolution. Blood was also collected for auto‐antibodies (rheumatoid factor [RF] and anti‐cyclic citrullinated peptide [anti‐CCP]) detection from all subjects. RF was detected by nephelometry and anti‐CCP was detected by using the enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay method. Statistical associations of HLA antigen between the groups were determined by chi‐square test. Results: In RA patients DR*04 and DR*10 were found at the DRB1 locus at higher frequencies (20.5%, P = 0.0035 and 18.3%, P = 0.0045, respectively). However, the frequency of DR*15 was significantly lower (P = 0.005) in RA cases (18.3%) than the control group (35.6%). The frequencies of autoantibodies (anti‐CCP and RF) were compared between approximate shared epitope (SE) positive and SE negative patients, and no significant association was found. Conclusions: In this study DRB1*04 and DRB1*10 alleles were significantly associated with RA patients while DRB1*15 was found more in the control group. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

As a theory, psychoanalysis has contributed greatly to the understanding of human psychic construction. Jacques Lacan, the most common name after Sigmund Freud, extended the theory to an extent where it remains intellectually provocative but much less contested than that of the latter's. Lacan's proposal of the three-phased development of human psychology is at once interesting, challenging, and thought-twisting. According to his discussions, the perception of real self remains beyond the grasp of an individual. Interestingly, an English translation of Franz Kafka's noted novella Metamorphosis (this article takes resort to that of the Stanley Conrgold's) can provide illuminating insights. This article argues and elucidates that the gap between the Lacanian theoretical selves can be bridged; at least Kafka's Metamorphosis provides a convincing proof. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Study of literary periods proves that literary theories come and go rendering the theoretical fossil of the pervious era on the pages of books. Such consistent weathering out of zeal and fervour should not be taken lightly. For example, the vibrancy of 1950s Postmodernism ebbed in the course of time. Is "Queer Theory" the next to dominate the study of literature? In parallel, information, the conceptual core of the Age of Information, has been the currency in recent times. Interestingly, information has always been vital to literary works and, until recently, it has acquired undeniable significance due to its overwhelming presence beyond the confinement of covers and blurbs. In this backdrop, critical insights must be there regarding the notional changes resulting from the possession and dissemination of information. Are those changes influencing the readings of literature and literary theories? Is Queer Theory, then, getting coinage because it can be aptly accommodated in the conceptual framework of the notion of information? This article argues in favour of these queries.
