The effect of board bending degree on hydrodynamic performances of a single-layer cambered otter-board was investigated using engineering models in a wind tunnel. Three different bending degree boards were evaluated at a wind speed of 28 m/s. Parameters measured included: drag coefficient Cx, lift coefficient Cy, pitch moment coefficient Cm, center of pressure coefficient Cp , over a range of angle of attack (0° to 70°). These coefficients were used in analyzing the differences in the performance among the three otter-board models. Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) and graphene (GR) was melt compounded by reactive extrusion. Nanocomposite monofilaments were prepared by melt spinning through a co-rotating screw extruder and drawing at hot water. GR/UHMWPE nanocomposite ropes were twisted using nanocomposite monofilaments. A structure and mechanical properties of the GR/UHMWPE nanocomposite monofilaments and its ropes had been characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and mechanical test. Results showed that the monofilaments surface of monofilaments became rougher with introducing of GR nanosheets, which could be related to stacking of GR. The breaking load of GR/UHMWPE nanocomposite ropes was remarkably improved upon nanofiller addition, with the decrease of the elongation at break.

The effect of panel shape on hydrodynamic performances of a vertical v-shaped double-slotted cambered otter-board was investigated using engineering models in a wind tunnel. Three different shape panels (rhomboid, left trapezoid and isosceles trapezoid) were evaluated at a wind speed of 28 m/s. Parameters measured included: drag coefficient Cx, lift coefficient Cy, pitch moment coefficient Cm, center of pressure coefficient Cp , over a range of angle of attack (0° to 70°). These coefficients were used in analyzing the differences in the performance among the three otter-board models. Results showed that the maximum lift coefficient Cy of the otter-board model with the isosceles trapezoid shape panels was highest (2.103 at α=45°). The maximum Cy/Cx of the otter-board with the rhomboid shape panels was highest (3.976 at α=15°). A comparative analysis of Cm and Cp showed that the stability of otter-board model with the isosceles trapezoid shape panels is better in pitch, and the stability of otter-board model with the left trapezoid shape panels is better in roll. The findings of this study can offer useful reference data for the structural optimization of otter-boards for trawling.

The effect of deflector angle on hydrodynamic performances of a double-slotted cambered otter-board is investigated using engineering models in a wind tunnel. Three different angle combinations (35°-30°, 30°-25°and 25°-20°) are evaluated at a wind speed of 28 m/s. Parameters measured included: drag coefficient Cx, lift coefficient Cy, pitch moment coefficient Cm, center of pressure coefficient Cp, over a range of angle of attack (0° to 70°). These coefficients are used in analyzing the differences in the performance among the three otter-board models. Results shows that the maximum lift coefficient Cy of the otter-board model with the angle combination (35°-30°) of two deflectors is the highest (2.160 at a=55°). The maximum Cy/Cx of the otter-board with the angle combination (25°-20°) is the highest (3.842 at a=2.5°). A comparative analysis of Cm and Cp shows that the stability of otter-board model with the angle combination (25°-20°) is better in pitch, and the stability of otter-board model with the angle combination (30°-25°) is better in roll. The findings of this study can offer useful reference data for the structural optimization of otter-boards for trawling.

Background and purpose: High mobility group box 1 (HMGB1), which is involved in the process of DNA replication, transcription and translation, is closely related to the occurrence, development, invasion and metastasis of malignant tumors. In addition, HMGB1 is involved in the regulation of various signaling pathways of inflammation, immunity, proliferation, metastasis and autophagy. This research aimed to explore the correlation between HMGB1 and clinicopathological characteristics, immune function and neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients with breast cancer. Methods: We enrolled a total of 120 breast cancer patients admitted to the Third Hospital of Nanchang from May 2019 to October 2020. The level of HMGB1 in sample of the core needle biopsy was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). IL-10 and TGF-β as the indicators of regulatory T cell (Treg) were measured. The percentages of CD3 + , CD4 + , CD8 + T lymphocytes and natural killer (NK) cells were detected by flow cytometry. The contents of immunoglobulin IgG, IgA, IgM and complement C3, C4 were determined by rate-scattering turbidimetry. The study subjects were divided into the high level group (HMGB1 ＞ 22.98 ng/mL) and the low level group (HMGB1≤22.98 ng/mL) according to the lower limit level of the 95% CI. After neoadjuvant chemotherapy, the pathological effect was evaluated according to the Miller-Payne pathological response grading standard. We analyzed the relationship between HMGB1 level and pathological efficacy. Results: HMGB1 levels were associated with breast cancer stage and lymph node metastasis (P ＜ 0.05). The level of HMGB1 was significantly correlated with Treg related IL-10 and TGF-β (r=0.734, P ＜ 0.001; r=0.686, P ＜ 0.001). CD4 + T cells/CD3 + T cells in the HMGB1 high level group were lower than in the low level group, and CD8 + T cells/CD3 + T cells were higher in the high level group than in the low level group (P ＜ 0.05). Patients with high-level HMGB1 had worse postoperative effects. Conclusion: The level of HMGB1 is related to breast cancer stage, lymph node metastasis and cellular immune function, and helps predict the efficacy of neoadjuvant chemotherapy.

Prevention against the adulteration of traditional Chinese medicine in an accurate way has been long exploring. Vitex trifolia fruit (VTF), as a widely used analgesic in East Asia, has frequently been found to be adulterated with five adulterants, namely Vitex cannabifolia fruit (VCF) (Fam. Verbenaceae), Vitex negundo fruit (VNF) (Fam. Verbenaceae), Piper cubeba fruit (PCF) (Fam. Lauraceae), Euphorbia lathyris seed (ELS) (Fam. Euphorbiaceae), and Vaccinium bracteatum fruit (VBF) (Fam. Ericaceae). In this study, the methods of micromorphological identification, microscopic identification, and chemical analysis were combined to distinguish VTF from its five adulterants comprehensively. As a result, the micromorphological features in terms of fruit or seed epidermis were photographed by stereomicroscopy firstly. Secondly, the microscopic characteristics of various herb powders were captured under light microscopy. Thirdly, 33 nonvolatile components and 124 volatile components in VTF were identified by ultra‐performance liquid chromatography coupled with Orbitrap mass spectrometry (UPLC‐Orbitrap‐MS) and comprehensive two‐dimensional gas chromatography hyphenated with mass spectrometry (GC × GC–MS), respectively. Furthermore, betulinic acid, persicogenin, and the volatile 4‐(2,2,6‐trimethyl‐bicyclo[4.1.0]hept‐1‐yl)‐butan‐2‐one were screened out to be the specific markers of VTF distinctive from the adulterants. Collectively, VTF and its five adulterants were distinguished successfully by the comparison of micromorphological, microscopic characteristics, and chemical profiles. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The BCR-ABL kinase inhibitor, imatinib mesylate, is the front-line treatment for chronic myeloid leukemia, but the emergence of imatinib resistance has led to the search for alternative drug treatments. There is a pressing need, therefore, to develop and test novel drugs. Natural products including plants, microorganisms, and halobios provide rich resources for discovery of anticancer drugs. In this article, we demonstrate that emodin inhibited the growth of K562 cells harboring BCR-ABL in vitro and in vivo, and induced abundant apoptosis, which was correlated with the inhibition of PETN/PI3K/Akt level and deletion of BCR-ABL. These findings suggest that emodin is a promising agent to kill K562 cells harboring BCR-ABL. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
