Genetic variability, correlation and path analysis was studied for rhizome yield and its component characters in 30 diverse genotype of turmeric. The analysis of variance revealed the significant differences among the genotypes for all the traits indicating presence of sufficient variability among the genotypes for various traits. On the basis of the performance the accessions NVST 6, NVST 43, NVST 27, NVST 26 and Sugandhum found promising in rhizome yield. The high GCV and PCV were observed for weight of secondary rhizome per plant, weight of mother rhizome per plant, weight of primary rhizome per plant, dry rhizome yield per plant and initial weight of rhizome, Whereas, plant height, leaf width, leaf length and curcumin content showed low GCV and PCV. The high heritability combined with high genetic advance as per cent of mean was observed for days to maturity and wet rhizome yield per plant indicated that selection may be effective for this character. The characters like weight of mother rhizomes per plant, weight of primary rhizomes per plant and weight of secondary rhizomes per plant showed significant positive correlation with wet rhizome yield per plant at both genotypic and phenotypic levels whereas leaf width and number of primary rhizome per plant had positive and significant correlation at genotypic level indicating that these three traits were main yield attributing traits. The path analysis indicated that weight of secondary rhizomes, weight of mother rhizomes, number of leaves per plant and plant height had maximum direct effect on rhizome yield. These characters should be used as selection criterion for further improvement of rhizome yield in turmeric

For designing of the breeding programme, analysis of genetic variability and character correlation is crucial in crop improvement. The aim of this experiment was to estimate genetic variability parameters and trait association for 13 quantitative traits which were measured in F2 segregating populations of six crosses containing nine parents. All the F2 populations showed significant GCV and PCV values for productive tillers per plant, grains per panicle, grain yield per plant and straw yield per plant, indicating that these traits may be improved through selection. Plant height, productive tillers per plant, grains per panicle, grain yield per plant and straw yield per plant showed high heritability coupled with high genetic advance, indicating that these traits were controlled by additive gene action and have a good chance of improvement through pure line selection. Grain yield per plant exhibited a strong positive correlation with plant height, panicle length, grains per panicle, straw yield per plant, productive tillers per plant and harvest index in all the six F2 segregating populations. The F2 population of the cross GR 17 × NVSR 2740 demonstrated that more GCV and PCV, high heritability with high genetic advance for the majority of the traits which can be improved by selection. The experiment was carried out to determine the genetic variability parameters and character associations for eleven quantitative traits in Indian bean genotypes. It revealed a significant amount of variability present among these genotypes. Seed yield per plant had high Genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV) and Phenotypic coefficient of variation (PCV) values, showing the potential for improvement by selection. Racemes per plant, pods per raceme, pods per plant, and pod weight had moderate GCV and PCV values. There was high heritability combined with a high genetic advance for pod weight and seed yield per plant. Plant height, pods per plant, and pod weight were significantly and positively associated with seed yield per plant. Pods per plant had the most positive direct effect on seed yield per plant, followed by racemes per plant, plant height, pod weight, pod length, and seeds per pod. The carbon-burning process in massive stars mainly occurs via the 12C +12 C. However, at temperatures higher than 109K and considering the increased abundance of 16O produced during the later stages of the heliumburning,the 12C+16O fusion can also become relevant. Moreover, 12C+16O also plays a role in the scenario of explosive carbon burning. Thus, the astrophysical energy region of interest ranges from 3 to 7.2 MeV in the center-of-mass frame. However, the various measurements of the cross-section available in the literature stop around 4 MeV, making extrapolation necessary. To solve this uncertainty and corroborate direct measurement we applied the Trojan Horse Method to three-body processes 16O(14N, α24Mg)2H and 16O(14N, p27Al)2H to study the 12C(16O, α)24Mg and 12C(16O, p)27Al reactions in their entire energy region of astrophysical interest. In this contribution, after briefly describing the method used, the experiment and the preliminary phases of the data analysis will be presented and discussed.

The article focuses on a study that analyzes the impact of the long term protection against biotic interference of a denuded ravine on the vegetation development and chronosequence of succession of different grass species based on species abundances at three topographic situations in Agra, India. It is known that overexploitation of vegetation is one of the most serious environmental concern of countries in the tropical and sub tropical regions. Based on the study, the plant species diversity and the invariability of the distribution of species reduced with protection. Overexploitation has caused an increase in species diversity. Moreover, the pattern of species occurrences across all the three topographic situations showed a close relationship between resource availability and resource use.
