Two species of N -arylpyrazoles containing active amino group were synthesized. And formylations of N -arylpyazoles containing amino in different position of pyrazole rings using Vilsmeier–Hacck reaction gave a series of useful pyrazole intermediates. The important features of this protocol were cheap materials, easy process, mild reaction conditions and good yield of products.

A route to chemoselective oxidation and chlorination of aryltrifluoromethylsulfide using trichloroisocyanuric acid (TCCA) in ionic liquid, an efficiently O-methylation reaction and a reduction of nitro- to amido- in excellent yields have been developed.

Reduced species (HSO−2, SO·−2) promoted one-pot synthesis of phenyl alkyl selenides has been developed. This synthetic method was achieved by reactions of diphenyl diselenide with alkyl halides at room temperature. It is noteworthy that the reactions were operated under mild reaction conditions, required short time, and got good results. A single electron transfer reaction mechanism was proposed for the reaction.

Sodium dithionite-promoted synthesis of unsymmetrical diorganyl sulfides by a reaction of diaryl disulfides with alkyl halides at r.t. has been developed. The advantages offered by this method are operational simplicity, a faster reaction, neutral and mild reaction conditions, and moderate to good yields of products.

A sodium dithionite, sodium thiosulfate and rongalite promoted one-pot synthesis of aryl alkyl sulfides at room temperature has been developed. The reactions of a range of disulfides with alkyl halides proceeded smoothly in the presence of rongalite. Possible reaction pathways are discussed and the effects of these sulfites on disulfides are investigated. The important features of this protocol are metal-free, strong-base-free, and mild reaction conditions, operational simplicity, short reaction times and high yields of products.

Indirectly introduce trifluoromethylthio-, alkylthio-, and trifluoromethylsulfinyl to pyrazole ring by a convenient reaction of a pyrazolyl disulfide with F3CBr and alkyl halides in the presence of sodium dithionite at room temperature. Followed by selective oxidation with H2O2 or trichloroisocyanuric acid (TCCA) to give trifluoromethylsulfenyl phenylpyrazole, alkylsulfenyl phenylpyazole, trifluoromethylsulfinyl phenylpyrazole 4a (a highly efficient insecticide named fipronil) and ethylsulfinyl phenylpyrazole 4c derivatives, respectively.

The mol­ecule of the title compound, C12H4Cl2F6N4S, exhibits disorder of both trifluoro­methyl groups. Crystal packing is realised by N—H⋯N hydrogen bonds.
