Introduction: Rate of Caesarean Sections (CS) has increased over the last few decades. There is an increased referral of women with postcaesarean complications. Aim: To evaluate the outcome of women with postcaesarean complications. Materials and Methods: This retrospective study was conducted at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, King George’s Medical University Lucknow, India over six months from August 2018 to January 2019. All the women referred with postcaesarean complications were included in the study. Women who had complications following CS performed at the centre were excluded. Demographic variables like age, socio-economic status, literacy, number of antenatal visits, indication for CS was obtained. The type of complication, number of places visited before admission, the interval between complication and admission, availability of referral documents, interventions required and outcome was noted. Introduction: Umbilical Cord blood banking (UCBB) is rampantly increasing. Literature on the awareness of obstetricians regarding UCBB is limited. It is necessary to know the current scenario so that necessary steps can be taken to improve the same. Aims and objectives: To assess the knowledge, attitude and practices regarding UCBB amongst Obstetricians in North India. Methodology: This study carried out amongst practicing obstetricians in North India over a period of one month, is a descriptive, cross-sectional study which involved the use of a pre-tested questionnaire distributed online. Results: The knowledge levels of the Obstetricians in North India were found to be deficient, however their attitudes regarding the same were mostly favorable. The procedure and counseling of UCBB had only been practiced by half of the respondents and majority of the Obstetricians felt a definite lack of knowledge as well as training with respect to umbilical cord blood banking. Statistical Analysis: The data was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 21.0. Conclusion: The need for spreading awareness among obstetricians is of utmost importance, especially since UCBB is a novel concept and there are huge lacunae in the existing knowledge of the obstetricians. Obstetricians seem to possess a positive and enthusiastic attitude towards the subject, therefore strategies aimed at improveing their knowledge can eventually lead to a dramatic improvement in the practices of UCBB. The emerging concept of UCBB deserves attention from the practicing obstetricians, academicians as well as policy makers, to ensure its justified, appropriate and adequate use in the future.
