14. New results on the magnetic phases of CsCuCl3in the external field

Abstract

We report on specific heat, magnetisation and neutron diffraction results for the hexagonal, magnetically frustrated system CsCuCl3. In an external field orthogonal to the c-axis, above 5 Tesla, an abrupt transition to a new magnetic phase is found, clearly in the specific heat, less clearly in the magnetisation. The available field up to 6 Tesla for the neutron experiments proved not high enough to extract the structure of this phase. The Néel temperature rises in the field and the continuous transition to the paramagnetic phase seems to be of an unusual nature.
