Ovarian cancer is characterized by insidious onset and poor prognosis, and among gynecological malignancies, its mortality rate ranks first, which poses a serious threat to women's health worldwide. In recent years, increasing evidence has suggested that modifiable lifestyle factors, particularly dietary factors, played important roles in the prognosis of ovarian cancer. As important nutrients, dietary fats and fatty acids can affect various vital physiological functions in human beings. However, the association of dietary fat and fatty acid intake with the prognosis of ovarian cancer remains unclear. Therefore, this review aims to analyze the existing epidemiological evidence between the two variables by searching the literature to provide dietary suggestions for ovarian cancer patients.

Ovarian cancer, one of the gynecological malignancies, poses a serious threat to women's health. The machine learning combines statistics and computer science. Researchers apply the machine learning to the clinical diagnosis and prognosis research of ovarian cancer. This article reviews the applications of machine learning in ovarian cancers. The results show that the predictive ability of machine learning models is better than traditional statistical models, but further test and verification are needed in prospective large-scale studies.

The incidence rate of ovarian cancer ranks the third among female malignant tumors, the mortality rate ranks the first and the prognosis is poor. Ovarian cancer poses a serious threat to the health of women's lives. The incidence of ovarian cancer is related to heredity, endocrine disorders and adverse lifestyle factors. In recent years, some scholars have carried out the impact of lifestyle, especially shift work, on the occurrence and development of ovarian cancer. Shift work can lead to circadian disruption, which affects hormonal balance in the body and may be a risk factor for ovarian cancer. This review summarizes four cohort studies and two case-control studies on the relation between shift work and ovarian cancer. The conclusion of the studies is inconsistent, suggesting that further researches are needed.

Objective To explore the relationship of lupus nephritis (LN) with different pathological types with disease activity and prognosis, and investigate the risk factors of end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Methods A total of 305 pathologically-confirmed LN patients admitted in our hospital from the year of 2013 to 2018 were retrospectively enrolled in this study. According to the results of renal biopsy, they were divided into mesangial hypercellularity LN (including 146 cases of LN-Ⅲ/Ⅳ and 106 cases of LN-Ⅲ/Ⅳ+Ⅴ) and non-mesangial hypercellularity LN (53 cases of LN-Ⅱ/Ⅴ). The disease activity and prognosis of the patients with different pathological types were compared, and the risk factors of ESRD were explored. Results There were more patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Disease Activity Index (SLEDAI) ≥10 (66.3% vs 45.3%), occurrences of serositis, hair loss, anemia, higher serum creatinine, hematuria, and ESRD, and manifestations of anti-dsDNA antibody and anti-AnuA antibody in the LN-Ⅲ/Ⅳ patients (with or without LN-Ⅴ) than the LN-Ⅱ/Ⅴ patients (P < 0.05). The cumulative incidence of ESRD was 14.4%, and LN-Ⅲ/Ⅳ(with or without LN-Ⅴ), as well as anti-dsDNA antibody, higher serum creatinine, and SLEDAI ≥10, was identified as independent risk factors for ESRD (OR=2.977, 1.722, 5.484, 2.070). But there was no statistical difference in survival time among different pathological types (P>0.05). Conclusion The LN-Ⅲ/Ⅳ patients (with or without LN-Ⅴ) have higher disease activity, severer impairment both in inside and outside of the kidney, and higher risk of progression to ESRD.

Introduction: Allergen-specific IgE (sIgE) sensitization exists in a considerable fraction of chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) patients. Basophils have been implicated in the pathogenesis of CSU. This paper aimed to explore the relationship between allergic sensitization and basophil reactivity in CSU and the possible underlying mechanism. Methods: Basophil-enriched leukocytes were isolated from the peripheral blood of 76 CSU patients and 9 healthy controls. Basophil CD63 and FcεRIα (the alpha subunit of the high-affinity IgE receptor) expression in the blood samples with various house dust mite (HDM)-sIgE levels were determined by flow cytometry. Basophil reactivity and SHIP-1 (a molecule related to the IgE/FcεRI signaling pathway) expression were analyzed after stimulation with an HDM allergen or other stimuli. Results: HDM-sIgEstrong positive (≥3.5 kU/L) CSU patients had a significantly higher mean percentage of basophil CD63 and higher baseline levels of FcεRIα expressed by basophils than HDM-sIgEnormal (<0.35 kU/L) CSU patients and healthy controls; the same went for total serum IgE. After stimulation with Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus peptidase 1 (Derp1) alone or together with Derp1-sIgE, the stimulation index of CD63 and levels of FcεRIα expressed by basophils in HDM-sIgEstrong positive CSU patients were significantly higher than those in HDM-sIgEnormal CSU patients and healthy controls. Significantly more SHIP-1 mRNA expression in HDM-sIgEstrong positive CSU patients was induced after the combined stimulation in comparison to other subjects. Conclusion: CSU patients with higher HDM-sIgE levels (≥3.5 kU/L) may have higher CD63 and FcεRIα expression on peripheral blood basophils. Peripheral blood basophils in these CSU patients are more responsive to HDM allergen stimulation. Higher HDM-sIgE levels among CSU patients may implicate higher basophil reactivity. As a daily food, various carcinogens produced during the preservation process of meat may lead to ovarian cancer and poor prognosis. Numerous epidemiological studies have explored the relationship between meat intake and risk as well as prognosis of ovarian cancer. This paper reviews aforementioned topic.

As the most widely used tool for assessing dietary intake, the validity of food frequency questionnaires (FFQs) should be evaluated before application. A comprehensive search of the PubMed and Web of Science databases was conducted for publications from January 2000 to April 1, 2020. Pooled estimates were calculated for correlation coefficients and mean differences for energy and 61 nutrients between FFQs and standard methods. The literature search identified 130 articles that included 21,494 participants. Subgroup analyses according to the number of administrations of the reference method, sample size, administration methods, FFQ items, reference periods, quality of the studies, gender, and regions were also performed. We conducted a meta-analysis by summarizing the available evidence to comprehensively assess the validity of FFQs stratified by the reference method type (24-hour recall (24HRs) and food records (FRs). We also performed subgroup analyses to examine the impact on the final summary estimates. After a meta-analysis of the FFQs' validity correlation coefficients of the included studies, this study showed that the range (median) of the validity coefficients of the 24HRs as reference methods was 0.220–0.770 (0.416), and for the FRs, it was 0.173–0.735 (0.373), which indicated that FFQs were suitable to assess the overall dietary intake in nutritional epidemiological studies. The results of the subgroup analysis showed that the number of administrations of the reference method, administration mode, number of items, reference periods, sample size, and gender mainly affected the validity correlation of FFQs.
