Abstract

Against the background of 'Emission Peak, Carbon Neutrality', there is a significant integration of new energy into the power grid. The characteristics of ‘double high’ and ‘double peak’ in power systems become more pronounced, posing a substantial challenge to the stability and energy coordination of the power grid. To address this, we propose a flexible interconnection scheme based on an AC-DC bidirectional converter. It can solve the problem of high-load caused by new energy generation. Firstly, high-load and adjacent substations are flexibly interconnected through the DC bus on the low-voltage side, enabling load management within a small range. Secondly, AC-DC power transfers the excess new energy generation to other substations. It can promote the absorption of new energy. This method can improve the utilization efficiency of distribution transformers, realize capacity sharing between different transformers, and improve the reliability of power systems in low-voltage distribution networks. Finally, based on a DC interconnection project in Shandong Province (China), the effectiveness of the proposed flexible interconnection scheme is verified. The new energy consumption increases from 5% to 24.4%, and the load rate of high-load transforms drops below 70%.

Abstract

A novel method to reconstruct the energy of hadronic showers in the CMS High Granularity Calorimeter (HGCAL) is presented. The HGCAL is a sampling calorimeter with very fine transverse and longitudinal granularity. The active media are silicon sensors and scintillator tiles readout by SiPMs and the absorbers are a combination of lead and Cu/CuW in the electromagnetic section, and steel in the hadronic section. The shower reconstruction method is based on graph neural networks and it makes use of a dynamic reduction network architecture. It is shown that the algorithm is able to capture and mitigate the main effects that normally hinder the reconstruction of hadronic showers using classical reconstruction methods, by compensating for fluctuations in the multiplicity, energy, and spatial distributions of the shower's constituents. The performance of the algorithm is evaluated using test beam data collected in 2018 prototype of the CMS HGCAL accompanied by a section of the CALICE AHCAL prototype. In cohort 1, 45 women aged 18– 65 years undergoing hysteroscopy were randomly assigned to either group E (esketamine + propofol) or group A (alfentanil + propofol). Dixon’s up-and-down method was used to determine the ED95 of esketamine and alfentanil. In cohort 2, 86 patients were randomized to group E and group A, with the calculated ED95 dose of the study drugs used for induction. The success rate of anesthesia using the ED95% dose, along with parameters related to anesthesia induction, recovery, and adverse events were also recorded.Results: The ED95 of esketamine was 0.254 mg/kg (95% CI: 0.214– 1.004), while that of alfentanil was 9.121 μg/kg (95% CI: 8.479– 13.364). The anesthesia success rate was 93.0% in group E and 95.2% in group A (p = 0.664). After resuscitation, both groups achieved a 100% success rate. The induction time was significantly shorter in group E (60.0 [55.0– 70.0] s) compared to group A (67.0 [61.0– 79.3] s) (p = 0.006). Group E had lower rates of respiratory depression (p < 0.001), hypoxia (p = 0.006), minimum perioperative SpO2 (p = 0.010), and hypotension (p = 0.001). Esketamine had less effect on respiratory rate, heart rate, mean blood pressure, and end-tidal carbon dioxide compared to alfentanil (all p < 0.001). There were no significant differences in postoperative pain between the two groups.Conclusion: This study determined the ED 95 dose of esketamine for intravenous general anesthesia during hysteroscopy. Esketamine showed less respiratory and hemodynamic depression, as well as fewer adverse effects compared to alfentanil. 9. Study on the magnetic field strength of NGC 300 ULX1

Abstract

NGC 300 ULX1 is a pulsating ultraluminous X-ray source (PULX) with the longest spin period of $P\simeq31.6\,\rm s$ and a high spin-up rate of $\dot P\simeq5.56\times10^{-7}\,\rm s\,s^{-1}$ that is ever seen in the confirmed PULXs. In this paper, the inferred magnetic field of NGC 300 ULX1 is $\sim3.0\times10^{14}\,\rm G$ using the recent observed parameters after its first detection of pulsations. According to the evolved simulation of the magnetic field and the spin period, it will become a recycled pulsar or a millisecond pulsar under the conditions of the companion mass and the accretion rate limitation. We suggest that NGC 300 ULX1 is an accreting magnetar accounting for its super Eddington luminosity. We also propose that there might be other accreting magnetars in the confirmed PULXs. Such PULXs will be helpful for understanding the magnetar evolution and the millisecond pulsar formation whose magnetic field is stronger than $\sim10^{9}\,\rm G$., Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures, 2 tables. 14. Mutual coherent structures for heat and angular momentum transport in turbulent Taylor-Couette flows

Abstract

In this study we report numerical results of turbulent transport of heat $Nu$ and angular momentum $\nu_{t}/\nu$ in Taylor-Couette (TC) flows subjected to a radial temperature gradient. Direct numerical simulations are performed in a TC cell with a radius ratio $\eta=0.5$ and an aspect ratio $\Gamma=8$ for two Rayleigh numbers ($Ra=10^5$, $10^6$) and two Prandtl numbers ($Pr=0.7$, $4.38$), while the Reynolds number $Re$ varies in the range of $0 \le Re \le 15000$. With increasing $Re$, the flows undergo two distinct transitions: the first transition being from the convection-dominated regime to the transitional regime, with the large-scale meridional circulation evolving into spiral vortices; the second transition occurring in the rotation-dominated regime when Taylor vortices turn from a weakly non-linear state into a turbulent state. In particular, when the flows are governed by turbulent Taylor vortices, we find that both transport processes exhibit power-law scaling: $Nu\sim Re^{0.619\pm0.015}$ for $Pr=4.38$, $Nu\sim Re^{0.590\pm0.025}$ for $Pr=0.7$ and $\nu_{t}/\nu\sim Re^{0.588\pm0.036}$ for both $Pr$.These scaling exponents suggest an analogous mechanism for the radial transport of heat and angular momentum, which is further evidenced by the fact that the ratio of turbulent viscosity to diffusivity is independent of $Re$. To illustrate the underlying mechanism of turbulent transport, we extract the coherent structures by analyzing the spatial distributions of heat and momentum flux densities. 17. Streaming controlled by meniscus shape

Abstract

Surface waves called meniscus waves often appear in the systems that are close to the capillary length scale. Since the meniscus shape determines the form of the meniscus waves, the resulting streaming circulation has a structure distinct from that caused by other capillary-gravity waves recently reported in the literature. In the present study, we produce symmetric and antisymmetric meniscus shapes by controlling boundary wettability and excite meniscus waves by oscillating the meniscus vertically. The symmetric and antisymmetric configurations produce different surface capillary-gravity wave modes and streaming flow structures. The energy density of the streaming circulation increases at the rate of the fourth power of the forcing amplitude in both configurations. The flow symmetry of streaming circulation is retained under the symmetric meniscus, while it is lost under the antisymmetric meniscus. In our experiments, the streaming circulation primarily originates from the Stokes boundary layer beneath the meniscus and can be successfully explained using the existing streaming theory.

Abstract

The radial velocity (RV) is a basic physical quantity which can be determined through Doppler shift of the spectrum of a star. The precision of RV measurement depends on the resolution of the spectrum we used and the accuracy of wavelength calibration. In this work, radial velocities of LAMOST-II medium resolution (R ~ 7500) spectra are measured for 1,594,956 spectra (each spectrum has two wavebands) through matching with templates. A set of RV standard stars are used to recalibrate the zero point of the measurement, and some reference sets with RVs derived from medium/high-resolution observations are used to evaluate the accuracy of the measurement. Comparing with reference sets, the accuracy of our measurement can get 0.0227 km s/1 with respect to radial velocities standard stars. The intrinsic precision is estimated with the multiple observations of single stars, which can achieve to 1.36 km s/1,1.08 km s/1, 0.91 km s/1 for the spectra at signal-to-noise levels of 10, 20, 50, respectively., Comment: published by ApJs. 13 pages, 13 figures

Abstract

In this work, we conducted molecular dynamics simulations to study the fracture mechanism of ice crystals in a bulk phase and at ice-ice interfaces at the atomistic scale. We show that there exists a narrow disordered interfacial layer between two Ih ice structures. The width of the interfacial layer is determined to be about the size of two water molecules. Upon deformation, the stress response of ice at interface show significantly anisotropic behaviors depending on the direction of deformation. Bulk-like behavior is observed when direction of deformation being orthogonal to the direction of interfacial plane. Significantly smaller fracture stress and yield strain occurs if the deformation is along interfacial plane. This result illustrates the dominant role played by the small amount of disordered water molecules at interface in altering mechanical strength of an interfacial structure.

Abstract

Modeling of water and gas flow in low-permeability media is an important topic for a number of engineering such as exploitation of tight gas and disposal of high-level radioactive waste. It has been well documented in the literature that Darcy's linear law of water flux and the hydraulic gradient is not always adequate for low-permeability media. On the basis of the Swartzendruber model, as a non-Darcian model of flow in low-permeability media, a new nonlinear model of water flux and the hydraulic gradient is proposed using fractional derivative. The analytic solution of fractional derivative flow model is presented and all parameters of the fractional derivative flow model are determined by the Levenberg-Marquardt method on the basis of the experimental data of water flow in low-permeability media. It is indicated that the results estimated by the fractional derivative flow model proposed in the paper are in better agreement with the experimental data than the results estimated by the Swartzendruber equation. Abstract

A Bell test is a randomized trial that compares experimental observations against the philosophical worldview of local realism. A Bell test requires spatially distributed entanglement, fast and high-efficiency detection and unpredictable measurement settings. Although technology can satisfy the first two of these requirements, the use of physical devices to choose settings in a Bell test involves making assumptions about the physics that one aims to test. Bell himself noted this weakness in using physical setting choices and argued that human `free will' could be used rigorously to ensure unpredictability in Bell tests. Here we report a set of local-realism tests using human choices, which avoids assumptions about predictability in physics. We recruited about 100,000 human participants to play an online video game that incentivizes fast, sustained input of unpredictable selections and illustrates Bell-test methodology. The participants generated 97,347,490 binary choices, which were directed via a scalable web platform to 12 laboratories on five continents, where 13 experiments tested local realism using photons, single atoms, atomic ensembles, and superconducting devices. Over a 12-hour period on 30 November 2016, participants worldwide provided a sustained data flow of over 1,000 bits per second to the experiments, which used different human-generated data to choose each measurement setting. The observed correlations strongly contradict local realism and other realistic positions in bipartite and tripartite scenarios. Abstract

We present a new analysis of the LAMOST DR1 survey spectral database performed with the code SP_Ace, which provides the derived stellar parameters T$_{\rm eff}$, log (g), [Fe/H], and [$\alpha$/Fe] for 1,097,231 stellar objects. We tested the reliability of our results by comparing them to reference results from high spectral resolution surveys. The expected errors can be summarized as $\sim$120 K in T$_{\rm eff}$, $\sim$0.2 in log (g), $\sim$0.15 dex in [Fe/H], and $\sim$0.1 dex in [$\alpha$/Fe] for spectra with S/N$>$40, with some differences between dwarf and giant stars. SP_Ace provides error estimations consistent with the discrepancies observed between derived and reference parameters. Some systematic errors are identified and discussed. Abstract

We report new parallax measurements for ten L and early T type dwarfs, five of which have no previous published values, using observations over 3 years at the robotic Liverpool Telescope. The resulting parallaxes and proper motions have median errors of 2\,mas and 1.5\,mas/year respectively. Their space motions indicate they are all Galactic disk members. We combined this sample with other objects with astrometry from the Liverpool Telescope and with published literature astrometry to construct a sample of 260 L and early T type dwarfs with measured parallaxes, designated the Astrometry Sample. We study the kinematics of the Astrometry Sample, and derived a solar motion of $(U,V,W)_{\bigodot} = (7.9\pm1.7,13.2\pm1.2,7.2\pm1.0)$\,\kms~ with respect to the local standard of rest, in agreement with recent literature. We derive a kinematic age of 1.5-1.7\,Gyr for the Astrometry Sample assuming the age increases monotonically with the total velocity for a given disk sample. This kinematic age is less than half literature values for other low mass dwarf samples. We believe this difference arises for two reasons (1) the sample is mainly composed of mid to late L dwarfs which are expected to be relatively young and (2) the requirement that objects have a measured parallax biases the sample to the brighter examples which tend to be younger., Comment: 11 pages, 14 eps figures

Therefore, this study aimed to identify the factors that influence TB survival in China.Methods: We acquired data of PTB deaths through matching two manage systems of PTB and mortality surveillance. The Kaplan–Meier method and Cox regression model were used to identify the significant factors under various survival times.Results: A total of 283 deaths were caused by PTB, in which 53.4% occurred during the first year. In the Cox regression model, regular sputum smear test could reduce the risk of PTB death from the result of one-, three-, and five-year survival; and history of PTB treatment could decline the risk of PTB death in the first year. Additionally, age of “ 75– 90 years” and positive result of sputum smear test significantly increased the risk of PTB death for the findings of three- and five-year survival, while age of “ 60– 75 years” could increase the probability of PTB death for five-year survival.Conclusion: To reduce PTB deaths, more attention should be paid to the older group especially in the first year. Regular sputum smear test could effectively reduce the mortality of PTB cases. The aim of this study was to develop a new type of tri-block polymer nanoparticle-gel complex (Gel@PLGA-PEI-PEG@NAT) for delivering NAT and evaluate its physicochemical properties, antifungal activity, safety, penetrability, adhesion, and efficacy in treating fungal keratitis.Methods: PLGA-PEI-PEG@NAT was prepared and characterized with a nano-particle size analyzer, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC), cytotoxicity, penetrability of NAT (Natacyn® 5% ophthalmic suspension; Alcon) and PLGA-PEI-PEG@NAT with different concentrations were assessed. The eye surface retention time, ocular irritation, and curative effect of the NAT ophthalmic suspension and Gel@PLGA-PEI-PEG@NAT on a rabbit fungal keratitis model were evaluated.Results: PLGA-PEI-PEG@NAT had a particle size of 150 nm, a positive surface charge, and a sustained-release effect. The MIC for F. Solani was 2 μg/mL. A cytotoxicity test and ocular irritation test showed that PLGA-PEI-PEG@NAT and Gel@PLGA-PEI-PEG@NAT had good biocompatibility and no obvious irritation for rabbit corneas. Penetration experiments confirmed that PLGA-PEI-PEG@NAT can successfully enter corneal epithelial cells and through the cornea to enter the anterior chamber. Compared with NAT ophthalmic suspension, Gel@PLGA-PEI-PEG@NAT had stronger cornea permeation at the same concentration. The therapeutic effect and precorneal retention ability of the NAT ophthalmic suspension and Gel@PLGA-PEI-PEG@NAT on the fungal keratitis rabbit model were compared. Gel@PLGA-PEI-PEG@NAT achieved a better therapeutic effect at a lower drug concentration, and its eye surface retention time was significantly longer than that of the NAT ophthalmic suspension.Conclusion: Gel@PLGA-PEI-PEG@NAT was shown to be a safe and effective nanodrug delivery system for NAT. Abstract

The observation of a spontaneous electron enrichment at the apexes of bismuth vanadate (BiVO4) nanopyramidal arrays is achieved by performing synchrotron-based angular dependent X-ray absorption spectroscopy. In accordance with density function theory calculations, the formation of (112) facets enriched apexes is proposed. Such intrinsically electron-enriched (112) facets at the apexes produce a potential facilitating the diffusion of photoexcited holes, which not only mitigates the recombination with the photoexcited electrons, but also provide an active reaction site for the photoassisted selective growth of cobalt phosphate (CoPi), a well known and highly active co-catalyst for water oxidation at the apex of BiVO4 nanopyramids. Benefiting from the element-resolved properties of synchrotron-based X-ray spectroscopy, 3d electrons on the vanadium site are directly resolved by resonant inelastic X-ray scattering measurements. Due to this unique morphology, the charge at the apex is expected to induce a strong interaction with CoPi, as a result of the metal-to-ligand charge transfer spectroscopy feature observed from the cobalt site. Substantial evidences are collected by means of comprehensive soft X-ray spectroscopy techniques with high spectral resolution revealing the atomic-scale origin and the nature of the synergy as well as the strong correlation between its unique structural properties and the electronic structure of this novel highly-ordered hybrid photocatalyst and its significantly improved photoelectrochemical performance.

Univariate log rank test and Cox regression analysis were performed in the training cohort to identify prognostic factors, and a nomogram was developed to predict the recurrence rate. The model was validated by calculating the C-index and drawing the calibration curve and receiver operating curve (ROC).Conclusion: In the multivariate Cox regression analysis, practice period, past history of benign ovarian disease, past history of benign breast disease, elevated CA125 levels, elevated CA199 levels, surgical methods, greater omentum resection, FIGO stage, postoperative pregnancy, and re-operation were independently associated with recurrence-free survival (p< 0.05). The aforementioned prognostic factors were used to develop a nomogram. The nomogram demonstrated a good ability to predict the risk of recurrence (training cohort C-index: 0.866, validation cohort C-index: 0.920). The calibration curve suggested that the predicted recurrence-free survival was closely related to the actual recurrence. ROC analysis showed that the nomogram had a good discriminatory power with the area under curve between 0.776 and 0.956. The nomogram can predict the 1-, 3-, and 5-year recurrence-free survival of BOT patients undergoing fertility-preserving surgery. We aimed to assess its efficacy in a single-center cohort of KT recipients infected with CRKP.Materials and Methods: We retrospectively observed KT recipients diagnosed with CRKP infection from June 2019 to July 2021. The primary outcome was 30-day mortality and secondary outcomes were 14-day clinical cure and 14-day microbiological cure. Logistic regression analysis was used to evaluate the relationship between CAZ-AVI treatment and prognosis.Results: A total of 54 CRKP-infected KT recipients were recorded in this study. Twenty-two recipients received CAZ-AVI and 32 received other antibiotic regimens. Recipients in both groups had similar baseline characteristics, with the most common site of infection being surgical site infections (n=27; 50.0%) and bloodstream infections (n=23; 42.6%). Recipients treated with CAZ-AVI had significantly lower 30-day mortality (3/22 vs 14/32, P=0.019), significantly higher 14-day clinical cure (18/22 vs 17/32, P=0.030) and 14-day microbiological cure (19/22 vs 15/32, P=0.003) compared with recipients receiving other treatment regimens. Kaplan–Meier survival curves for 30-day mortality confirmed the findings (log-rank=0.014). In a multivariate logistic regression model, receiving CAZ-AVI was found to be an independent protective factor for 30-day mortality (odds ratio=0.148, 95% confidence interval, 0.027– 0.800; P=0.026). This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of paliperidone in improving ToM task performance in patients with schizophrenia compared with haloperidol.Patients and Methods: This study was a single-center, single-blinded (assessor), parallel-group randomized clinical trial of patients with schizophrenia randomized to paliperidone or haloperidol. ToM was assessed at weeks 0, 8, 12, and 16 using the first-order belief, higher-order belief, faux-pas, and Reading the Mind in the Eyes tests. The primary outcome was the change in the ToM performance scores from baseline to after 16 weeks of treatment.Results: The participants received paliperidone (n = 29) or haloperidol (n = 31). For the first-order belief task, there were no between-group differences (P > 0.05) but time differences in both groups (P < 0.05). For the higher-order belief task, there were no between-group differences (P > 0.05), but there were time differences in both groups (P < 0.05) and a time×group interaction in the paliperidone group only (P < 0.05). For the faux-pas task, there was a difference between groups at week 16 (P < 0.05), and the improvement in time was significant for the paliperidone group only (P < 0.05). For the Reading the Mind in the Eyes task, there was an improvement over time for the paliperidone group only (P < 0.05). 40. Low-resolution near-infrared spectroscopic signatures of unresolved ultracool companions to M dwarfs

Abstract

We develop a method to identify the spectroscopic signature of unresolved L-dwarf ultracool companions, which compares the spectra of candidates and their associated control stars using spectral ratio differences and residual spectra. We present SpeX prism-mode spectra (0.7-2.5 micron) for a pilot sample of 111 mid M dwarfs, including 28 that were previously identified as candidates for unresolved ultracool companionship (a sub-sample from Cook et al. 2016; paper 1) and 83 single M dwarfs that were optically colour-similar to these candidates (which we use as `control stars'). We identify four candidates with evidence for near-infrared excess. One of these (WISE J100202.50+074136.3) shows strong evidence for an unresolved L dwarf companion in both its spectral ratio difference and its residual spectra, two most likely have a different source for the near-infrared excess, and the other may be due to spectral noise. We also establish expectations for a null result (i.e. by searching for companionship signatures around the M dwarf control stars), as well as determining the expected outcome for ubiquitous companionship (as a means of comparison with our actual results), using artificially generated unresolved M+L dwarf spectra. The results of these analyses are compared to those for the candidate sample, and reasonable consistency is found. With a full follow-up programme of our candidates sample from Cook et al., we might expect to confirm up to 40 such companions in the future, adding extensively to the known desert population of M3-M5 dwarfs., Comment: Accepted MNRAS 2017-02-01. Abstract

The "unidentified" infrared emission (UIE) features at 3.3, 6.2, 7.7, 8.6, and 11.3 $\mu$m are ubiquitously seen in various astrophysical regions. The UIE features are characteristic of the stretching and bending vibrations of aromatic hydrocarbons. The 3.3 $\mu$m feature resulting from aromatic C--H stretches is often accompanied by a weaker feature at 3.4 $\mu$m often attributed to aliphatic C--H stretches. The ratio of the observed intensity of the 3.3 $\mu$m aromatic C--H feature ($I_{3.3}$) to that of the 3.4 $\mu$m aliphatic C--H feature ($I_{3.4}$) allows one to estimate the aliphatic fraction (i.e. $N_{\rm C,aliph}/N_{\rm C,arom}$, the number of C atoms in aliphatic units to that in aromatic rings) of the UIE carriers, provided the intrinsic oscillator strengths of the 3.3 $\mu$m aromatic C--H stretch ($A_{3.3}$) and the 3.4 $\mu$m aliphatic C--H stretch ($A_{3.4}$) are known. In this article we summarize the computational results on $A_{3.3}$ and $A_{3.4}$ and their implications for the aromaticity and aliphaticity of the UIE carriers. We use density functional theory and second-order perturbation theory to derive $A_{3.3}$ and $A_{3.4}$ from the infrared vibrational spectra of seven PAHs with various aliphatic substituents (e.g., methyl-, dimethyl-, ethyl-, propyl-, butyl-PAHs, and PAHs with unsaturated alkyl-chains). The mean band strengths of the aromatic ($A_{3.3}$) and aliphatic ($A_{3.4}$) C--H stretches are derived and then employed to estimate the aliphatic fraction of the UIE carriers by comparing $A_{3.4}$/$A_{3.3}$ with $I_{3.4}$/$I_{3.3}$. We conclude that the UIE emitters are predominantly aromatic, as revealed by the observationally-derived ratio <$I_{3.4}$/$I_{3.3}$> ~ 0.12 and the computationally-derived ratio <$A_{3.4}$/$A_{3.3}$> ~ 1.76 which suggest an upper limit of $N_{\rm C,aliph}/N_{\rm C,arom}$ ~ 0.02 for the aliphatic fraction of the UIE carriers., Comment: 67 pages, 18 figures, 8 tables; invited article accepted for publication in "New Astronomy Review"; a considerable fraction of this article is concerned with the computational techniques and results, readers who are mainly interested in astrophysics may wish to only read "Introduction", and "Astrophysical Implications"

Abstract

The so-called unidentified infrared emission (UIE) features at 3.3, 6.2, 7.7, 8.6, and 11.3 $\mu$m ubiquitously seen in a wide variety of astrophysical regions are generally attributed to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) molecules. Astronomical PAHs may have an aliphatic component as revealed by the detection in many UIE sources of the aliphatic C-H stretching feature at 3.4 $\mu$m. The ratio of the observed intensity of the 3.4 $\mu$m feature to that of the 3.3 $\mu$m aromatic C-H feature allows one to estimate the aliphatic fraction of the UIE carriers. This requires the knowledge of the intrinsic oscillator strengths of the 3.3 $\mu$m aromatic C-H stretch ($A_{3.3}$) and the 3.4 $\mu$m aliphatic C-H stretch ($A_{3.4}$). Lacking experimental data on $A_{3.3}$ and $A_{3.4}$ for the UIE candidate materials, one often has to rely on quantum-chemical computations. Although the second-order Moller-Plesset (MP2) perturbation theory with a large basis set is more accurate than the B3LYP density functional theory, MP2 is computationally very demanding and impractical for large molecules. Based on methylated PAHs, we show here that, by scaling the band strengths computed at an inexpensive level (e.g., B3LYP/6-31G*) we are able to obtain band strengths as accurate as that computed at far more expensive levels (e.g., MP2/6-311+G(3df,3pd))., Comment: 25 pages, 9 figures; accepted for publication in The Astrophysical Journal

Abstract

This paper systematically studies cladding materials prepared by mixing 316 L and 2Cr13 alloy powders in different ratios. The powder was melted and deposited on a Q235B carbon steel substrate using laser melting deposition with a high Ni transition layer and appropriate laser process parameters. Bimetallic plates with a thickness of 10 mm ±0.5 mm was prepared. The microstructure of different parts of the bimetallic plates and the impact toughness and hardness were observed and tested under different alloy ratios. The results indicate that the Nickel‐Chromium equivalence ratio increased, the hardness and wear resistance of the bimetallic plates increased, and the degree of eutectic segregation in the eutectic structure also increased. When the ratio of 2Cr13 reached 60 %, the impact toughness increased significantly, and the needle‐like second phase appeared in the structure. X‐ray diffractometer analysis determined that this second phase was (Fe, Cr)7C3. After Charpy impact testing, the fracture microstructure showed many dimples, indicating micropore aggregation fracture. This study guides preparing large‐thickness cladding layers on iron and steel parts using laser melting deposition. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

44. Diffuse Interstellar Bands and the Ultraviolet Extinction Curves: The Missing Link Revisited

Abstract

A large number of interstellar absorption features at ~ 4000\AA\ -- 1.8 {\mu}m, known as the "diffuse interstellar bands" (DIBs), remains unidentified. Most recent works relate them to large polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) molecules or ultrasmall carbonaceous grains which are also thought to be responsible for the 2175 \AA\ extinction bump and/or the far ultraviolet (UV) extinction rise at $\lambda^{-1} > 5.9\ {\mu}m^{-1}$. Therefore, one might expect some relation between the UV extinction and DIBs. Such a relationship, if established, could put important constraints on the carrier of DIBs. Over the past four decades, whether DIBs are related to the shape of the UV extinction curves has been extensively investigated. However, the results are often inconsistent, partly due to the inconsistencies in characterizing the UV extinction. Here we re-examine the connection between the UV extinction curve and DIBs. We compile the extinction curves and the equivalent widths of 40 DIBs along 97 slightlines. We decompose the extinction curve into three Drude-like functions composed of the visible/near-infrared component, the 2175 \AA\ bump, and the far-UV extinction at $\lambda^{-1} > 5.9\ {\mu}m^{-1}$. We argue that the wavelength-integrated far-UV extinction derived from this decomposition technique best measures the strength of the far-UV extinction. No correlation is found between the far-UV extinction and most (~90\%) of the DIBs. We have also shown that the color excess E(1300-1700), the extinction difference at 1300 \AA\ and 1700 \AA\ often used to measure the strength of the far-UV extinction, does not correlate with DIBs. This cross-sectional study was designed to figure out the prevalence of dual-positivity for both HBeAg and anti-HBe (DEP) among hospitalized patients with chronic hepatitis B virus infection (C-HBVI).Patients and Methods: Data from 2820 cases with C-HBVI from two centers in China were retrospectively analyzed. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were undertaken to identify the risk factors for liver fibrosis (LF) and acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF).Results: There were 165 (5.9%), 688, and 1903 patients in DEP, HBeAg+/anti-HBe-, and HBeAg-/anti-HBe+ groups, respectively. The DEP patients’ median age was 43.6 years old and 71.5% of them were male. They had higher levels of alanine transaminase, total bilirubin, and international normalized ratio. Furthermore, DEP cases had a higher proportion of liver cirrhosis, and it was associated with non-invasive testing of LF, including aspartate transaminase (AST)-to-platelet ratio index (APRI) > 1.5 (odds ratio (OR) = 1.96, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.27– 3.03, P = 0.002) and fibrosis-4 (FIB-4) score > 1.45 (OR = 2.07, 95% CI: 1.28– 3.34, P = 0.003). DEP also contributed to the elevated risk of ACLF (OR = 4.80, 95% CI: 2.02– 11.39, P < 0.001).Conclusion: DEP cases are at higher risks of LF and ACLF than other patients with HBV infection. Aptamers are short single-stranded oligonucleotides evolved from systematic evolution of ligands by exponential enrichment (SELEX). It has been proved that aptamers can interact with cognate target molecules with high affinity and specificity and have great potential in the development of medical imaging at molecular level.Purpose: To select epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM) specific aptamers targeting prostate cancer and further to conjugate aptamers with GoldMag nanoparticles (a typical iron oxide core/gold shell structure) to construct magnetic molecular probes for medical imaging.Methods: EpCAM-specific aptamers were selected by Cell-SELEX. The enrichment of specific aptamer candidates was monitored by flow cytometric analysis. Aptamers were further conjugated with GoldMag nanoparticles to construct magnetic molecular probes. The affinity and specificity of aptamer candidates and aptamer-conjugated GoldMag nanoparticles were evaluated. The MR imaging of aptamer-conjugated GoldMag nanoparticles to prostate cancer was further explored in vitro and in vivo.Results: After 12 rounds of selection, aptamer candidates Eppc6 and Eppc14 could specifically target three types of prostate cancer cells, revealing a high affinity of Eppc6 and Eppc14. Moreover, aptamer-conjugated GoldMag nanoparticles not only exhibited good affinity to different prostate cancer cells but also produced strong T2WI signal intensity reduction distinguished from peritumoral tissue in MRI, indicating that the molecular probes possess both the affinity properties of EpCAM-specific aptamer and the superparamagnetic features of iron oxide.Conclusion: Our study indicates that aptamer Eppc6 and Eppc14 can recognize prostate cancer cells and tissues.
