Population ageing is a demographic issue that emphasises the need to be interested in the lives of the most vulnerable population group: the elderly population. The paper investigates the ageing process and their relations among the European Union member countries from 2009 to 2019. These countries are assessed and dispersed to the appropriate clusters according to several indicators related to the areas that affect the lives of the elderly population: namely, the health status, the labour market conditions, and financial security. The focus is on the age group 55 years and over as it is a disadvantaged age group in the job application process regarding ageing society. It is a significant aspect of public finance system. The European Union Statistics on Income and Living Conditions, the Labour Force Survey, and the European System of Integrated Social Protection Statistics data are involved. The quantitative approaches are applied in the cluster analysis and followed by the panel data linear regression analysis. The dendrograms visualise the three clusters representing the mutual relations and the ageing patterns among the explored countries. The heat maps are created to prove the potential relations among the observed countries. The panel regression model demonstrates that the three variables – part-time employment, the income inequality, and the material and social deprivation – are statistically significant in all the regression models for the whole area and the three clusters. The analytical outcome could be applied as a valuable resource to government and national representatives. It can help identify the objectionable determinants for a custom policy and implement appropriate measures to improve the situation of the elderly population.

Creativity has been considered a new type of competitive advantage in recent years. It becomes the basis of a new direction, a new economic paradigm - creative economy. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the economic performance of creative industries in the publishing segment. The indicator dependence of profit on sales, with the exception of other publishing activities (issuing stamps, checks, banknotes, etc.), reaches Multiple R values close to 1, it confirms a strong addiction, it is moving in the range of 0.98-0.36. The strongest dependence is shown in other software publishing activities. The strong dependence of profit on sales is a signal for the companies to carefully monitor the causes of changes in their revenues, to use qualified tools to increase revenues such as discounts, rebates, delivery terms, etc. The dependence of profit on assets shows lower values, with the exception of publishing magazines and periodicals, Multiple R is in the range of 0.99-0.50. The protection of intellectual property thus becomes an elementary precondition for preserving the potential of the creative and cultural industries. There is a need to raise European citizens' awareness of the value of copyright, as well as the benefits for the development of a prosperous European legal market.

This study analyzes the impact of foreign direct investment inflow on the economic development of Nigera. The literature review covered the main topics related to the research, such as foreign direct investment, economic development and their relationship, and a comparison of the evolution of the chosen variables in time in Nigeria with the other countries. Annual time series data for the research were obtained from the World Bank database, ranging from 2003 to 2020. As a method of analysis, the ordinary least square (OLS) technique is used to estimate the multivariate regression model, together with the Unit root (ADF) test and Johansen cointegrations test. The dependent variable for the research was Human Development Index (HDI), and the independent variables were Foreign direct investment (FDI), Gross fixed capital formation (GFCF) and Labour force (LF). The results show that while LF has a significant positive impact on HDI, FDI and GFCF have no significant impact on HDI in the analysed period.

This thesis deals with the deepening of relations between the Czech Republic and its priority countries (for the period 2006-2010) within the framework of Czech bilateral development cooperation. The main research question of the thesis is the influence of development cooperation on the expansion of cooperation between the Czech Republic and its priority countries. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the main assumptions concerning the deepening of cooperation are presented. The main theoretical framework is the spillover theory. The main hypotheses of this theory are presented and applied to the selected case. The observed areas in which cooperation is expected to increase are the political sphere, the economic sphere, culture sphere and the military sphere. For every sphere was chosen measurable indicator. Paired countries with comparable conditions were selected as priority countries. The conditions on the basis of which the countries are paired are comparable history, GDP per capita, population size and trade with the Czech Republic before the period under review. The diploma thesis pays attention to small and medium-sized enterprises and indicators of regional development. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the performance of small and medium-sized enterprises of the processing industry in the Vysočina region in the context of the development of the region. The work is divided into two parts. In the first part, a literature review is prepared, which serves as a basis for the research part. The second part is made up of the test itself. First, the social and economic situation of the Vysočina region is evaluated here. Subsequently, an analysis of the performance of the companies is carried out based on the selected indicators and their median. The last part evaluates the importance between regional development indicators and performance indicators. This research is carried out using a correlation matrix, where dependence was determined, and multiple regression analysis, which evaluates the statistical significance of dependence. Multiple regression showed a low level of significance between indicators. The highest influence was demonstrated between the unemployment indicator and performance indicators.

Diploma thesis focuses on residual value of passenger cars in the Czech Republic. The aim is to find out, which factors and in which way affect the residual value. Accurate prediction of residual value is crucial for companies offering passenger cars on operating lease. The focus is not only on the impact of technical characteristics of a vehicle on its residual value but also on possibilities of improving predictions of residual value with the help of external data. Results show that it is highly appropriate to build models on car model level not only on brand level. There is found negative effect of milage, lease length, generation age and diesel engine on residual value within chosen group of cars. Furthermore, there is found positive effect of engine power, engine capacity and additional equipment on residual value within some car segments. In the thesis there are also outlined possibilities of incorporating external factors to residual value predictions.

Slimák R. The impact of selected indicators on the price development of Bitcoin. Diploma thesis.Brno: Mendel University, 2022. This thesis deals with the influence of selected factors on the development of the price of Bitcoin. Thanks to literary research of scientific articles dealing with the price development of Bitcoin, specific variables will be selected, which will be subjected to a regression analysis in the practical part. The main benefit of this work is the study of relationships in specific periods, which are defined by Bitcoin halving. In addition to the regression analysis, the work deals with a graphical analysis of selected relationships, an elementary interpretation of the basic properties of Bitcoin together with a more detailed analysis of the mentioned halving and a separate chapter on the basic methods of asset evaluation. The results of the work are critically evaluated in the discussion and compared with the results of scientific articles. In the end, the work tries to summarize whether and or how investor's view of this non-traditional asset has changed in the monitored periods and thus offer an alternative view of Bitcoin's involvement in the portfolio.

The objective of this diploma thesis is to propose measures that will lead to a positive development of economic value added in the brewing industry. The literature review is focused on general issues of financial management and evaluation of company performance. The economic value added is specified in more detail. In the part of the sectoral analysis, the specifics of the brewing industry are discussed using selected methods. For the analytical part of the thesis, a research sample of enterprises from the brewing sector is chosen using a criterion selection. In the context of financial management, an analysis of selected ratio indicators is carried out. To identify the key factors influencing the economic value added, a panel regression analysis is selected, within which an EVA decomposition model is estimated and which also complements the model of selected ratio indicators. For the conclusion, recommendations based on the results of the analyses performed are formulated.

Chovanec, M. Determinants of foreign direct investments to the V4 countries. Bachelor thesis. Brno: Mendel University in Brno, 2020. The aim of this thesis is to identify the determinants of foreign direct investment to the V4 countries. The aim of the thesis is fulfilled through regression analysis of time data of selected variables in the period 1997 to 2019. The work also describes and evaluates the development of foreign direct investment inflows to individual countries. The identified indicators point to the diversity of results within the V4 countries. In the Slovak Republic, the most significant factors influencing the inflow of foreign direct investment are the factors inflation and infrastructure. For Czech Republic the main factor is infrastructure and corporate tax factor for Poland. For Hungary, no factor was found to be significant at the 1 % level of significance, but some factors are identified that affect the inflow of foreign direct investment to Hungary at 5 and 10 % of the level of significance, namely GDP per hour factor, inflation and action factor elections in a given year.

Dynamics in global processes have led to a number of political, economic and cultural changes that have resulted in the emergence of global cities. In the hierarchy of global cities, those who successfully use the limited available resources and offer an adaptable and flexible living environment, represent the most competitive global cities. Nonetheless, accelerated globalization has conditioned direct competition of global cities for different resources, and one of the most desirable being highly-skilled, talented and creative residents. In such conditions, city leaders face the need to understand the concept and factors of urban magnetism. The analysis of the determinants of urban magnetism can facilitate the formulation of concrete actions aimed at increasing the attractiveness of the city, which ultimately leads to the preservation of long-term socio-economic development of cities. Although financial wellbeing and incentives were considered to be a key factor of urban magnetism, contemporary research approaches have emphasized other factors that may influence urban attractiveness. Starting from that point of view, this paper aims to identify the main urban functions that influence the cities’ size with an analysis focusing on global cities worldwide. The panel regression analysis is applied to the sample of 39 global cities over the period from 2013 until 2019 and the data on urban functions are obtained from the Global Power City Index (GPCI). The results indicate that the size of the global cities population is positively affected by urban functions related to the cultural interaction and accessibility, while research and development function influences negatively on the size of the urban population. Results of the paper led to the conclusion that contemporary urban management strategies need to be defined and implemented aimed at improving the urban magnetism beyond economic performance of the city, focusing on sustainability and urban quality of life.

My thesis is focused on the composition and countries' representation in the professional staff of the World Health Organization. The thesis will analyse the overrepresentation and underrepresentation of the WHO's member states and explain possible patterns in the staff. The thesis will focus on the relationship between the number of Member State's professional staff in the WHO and the state's GDP growth, expenditure on education and population size. My thesis aims to research the characteristics of staff's composition in the WHO. I will analyse professional staff structure and apply the Principal-Agent theoretical framework. The research will show how the state's representation of member states changed over time and see also the gender composition of the Secretariat. The timeline of this work is from 1999 till 2019. The thesis works with official documents from human resources of the WHO and datasets of the World Bank. Analysis of data is provided by the statistical programme SPSS and Microsoft Excel. Title: The Influence of macroeconomic factors on performance in eSports Objectives: The main objective of this work is to find determinants of success in eSports. Furthermore, interpreting regression coefficients gives us the opportunity to point out the most important factors of success in eSports and also to compare their relative strenght in regression model. The results of the regression analysis will be put in comparison with the outcomes of similiar papers on this topic, mainly focused on the performance in traditional sports. Methods: To analyse our collected secondary data, we use multiple linear regression model. To test some of the assumptions of regression, Pearson correlation coefficient was used. The dataset was tested on the 5 % significance level. The regression model was made via IBM SPSS Statistics 27. Results: There were only 5 independent variables left in the model after testing all the linear regression assumptions. From these 5, only 4 were statistically significant: Population, School enrollment (tertiary), Internet users per 100 and High-technology exports. The Bachelor thesis in concerned with the influence of the remuneration sys-tem, including benefits, on selected economic indicators of Toray Textiles Central Europe s.r.o. The aim of the thesis is to assess the influence of the remuneration system, including provision of benefits, on selected economic indicators and to propose improvements to the current situation with the remuneration system, and to identify the economic impacts of the proposed changes. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the system of remuneration, ben-efits and selected economic indicators. The practical part of the thesis deals with the development of the values of the remuneration system, including benefits, and the progression of the values of selected economic indicators from 2010 to 2019. Subsequently correlation analy-sis and regression analysis, which describe the relationship between two indica-tors, are applied to selected indicators. Based on the results obtained from the correlation and regression analyses, recommendations are proposed to improve the economic situation in the section of remuneration at Toray Textiles Central Europe s.r.o.

Bachelor thesis focuses on identification of factors that have the most potential to influence costs of hauliers in the Czech Republic. The coefficients of regression that quantify those relationships are obtained with help of regression analysis. Multidimensional regression models are further used for cost predictions.

The diploma thesis "Statistical survey of selected parameters of fire development in the districts of the Czech Republic in 1997-2017" deals with the gaining and evaluation of data of selected parameters on fires in the districts of the Czech Republic in 1997-2017. The amount of fires and the amount of damage associated with these numbers of fires became selected parameters related to individual districts in the mentioned period. The topic of the diploma thesis deals with the field of fires, which can be classified as a class of phenomenon "Segment of emergencies" associated with the theory of "Protection of the population". In the elaborated applied quantitative research, the author evaluated the methodological triangulation (the ratio of the quantity given by the existing theory and the newly processed quality, which means a benefit for the already existing theory) in the proportion of 90:10. The theoretical part defines the basic concepts and areas related to fires, which are based mainly on legislative regulations. This section describes the concept of fire protection and prevention in detail. The last section of this part summarizes the basic methods of descriptive and mathematical statistics, which were used in the processing of the practical part of the thesis. In the practical part of the diploma thesis, three hypotheses are verified. The hypotheses were examined on the basis of obtained and statistically processed data published in the statistical yearbooks of the Fire and Rescue Service of the Czech Republic. For the processing of the practical part, the basic methods of descriptive and mathematical statistics were selected, by which these data are processed. In the methodology are listed statistical methods used. The use of the work consists mainly in the verification of the statistical algorithm for fire investigation, the two-dimensional statistical method can be applied to the problems of emergencies. Another benefit could be the design of follow-up work, which would, for example, deal with other parameters of fires such as fires according to the sector where they occurred, the number of deaths or the number of injuries. The main aim of this diploma thesis was to explore the topic of malaria preventive measures. Concretely, to study which preventive measures are useful and to see how they are distributed around the world. For international organizations, this is very important as they need to know whether funds allocated for malaria aid are distributed effectively. This study is using manually compounded data from the World Health Organization for all countries threatened by malaria mostly from 2001 to 2018. For this purpose, panel data regression methods using robust standard errors, bootstrapping and cluster analysis were used. The results showed that generally, the most useful preventive measures are indoor-residual sprayings, a combination of sprayings and insecticide-treated nets and rapid diagnostic tests. Furthermore, the effect of the population living in rural areas is significant. Besides, gross domestic product is a very important factor for African countries. The stability analysis - bootstrapping - confirmed our results. However, we examined that insecticide-treated nets are still the most distributed measures. The bachelor thesis focuses on ways of measuring income and consumption ine-quali¬ty in the world and their mutual dependence. The first chapter of the thesis is composed of the theoretical part about income, consumption inequality and their influence on world welfare. The chapter also contains ways of measuring income inequality and comparing their quality to each other. The process of acquiring data on consumption inequality is explained in the methodology of the thesis, due to the lack of indicators of consumption inequality. The practical part focuses on studying the correlation between consumption and income inequality and the way one in-flu¬ences the other. The results of this thesis are compared to the results of previous works.

Title: Research on the financial and time demands of ice hockey Objectives: The main objective of this work is a detailed investigation of the financial and time demands of ice hockey in youth ages. Another facet is to compare the results of the research conducted with the results of the research "How to increase the number of children in hockey clubs?" The last aim is to perform a regression analysis of the obtained research results. Methods: The research carried out in this diploma thesis mainly uses elements of quantitative research methods. The questioning of the public was carried out by means of a written questionnaire survey. Other methods used in the diploma thesis were the comparison method and the regression analysis method. Results: The thesis brings an uncharted view of the real financial and time demands of ice hockey in the youth categories in the Czech Republic. Interested public see ice hockey as a financial and time-consuming sport. The diploma thesis focuses on the development of the Czech labour market in the period of the CNB monetary interventions that took place in 2013-2017. Within the VAR models, the causal relationship between the labour market indicators and the GDP growth is verified. The delayed effect of the change in GDP on the labour market indicators was found. The thesis also pays attention to the trend models of the selected time series. Within them the presence of the structural break indicating the start of using CNB foreign exchange interventions was detected. In conclusion the possible solutions of the long-term unemployment of disadvantaged groups in the labour market are presented.

The aim of the thesis is to compare different statistical models for football betting odds and determine the best performing once based on the historical performance of sport teams. There are at least three possible approaches for computing the odds, namely logistic regression, Poisson regression and methods based on statistical machine learning. The idea is that the historical performance of teams is a good predictor of the future performance. Thus we can take the past performances, say all matches in the full season of the English Premier League (380 matches), and use these data for predicting the odds for the following season. The resulting odds should be compared with the actual results using the scoring rules, which will identify the best performing model.

This bachelor thesis deals with the analysis of the relationship between pollutants and economic development. The validity of the environmental Kuznets curve for various harmful substances for the whole world, as well as for some individual states and groups of states (Russia, Czech Republic, OECD countries, the least developed countries) is verified by means of regression analysis. The aim of this diploma thesis is to evaluate the intensity of international trade of the European Union in relation to the institutional (legal) environment of individu-al countries. The Heritage Foundation's Economic Freedom Index describes the quality of the country's institutional environment. The intensity of international trade is expressed as the degree of openness that represents the share of export and import in gross domestic product. Correlation and regression analysis are used to quantify the relationships between variables. The final model is based on panel data from 1996 to 2017 for the 27 countries of the European Union, with only Malta being excluded. The influence of the institutional environment is com-pared with other determinants of the degree of openness. In my thesis I used the following variables: gross domestic product per capita, share of the productive population aged 15-64, investments as a percentage of GDP, exchange rates and human development index (HDI). The result of this work is the finding that the institutional environment positively influences trade exchange, but the relation-ship with the degree of openness has not been proven.

Shurgaia, Z. Social media marketing communication in the Czech Republic and Georgia. Diploma thesis. Brno: Mendel University, 2019. The topic of the master thesis is “Social media marketing communication in the Czech Republic and Georgia”. The main objective of this thesis is to compare social media marketing communication in the Czech Republic and Georgia, to identify the most effective way of promotion using the social media marketing in those two countries, to make a short-term prediction, if the ways of promotion will have a tendency to change in the near future. Depending on the final results received after our research, we will receive a clearer picture of how social media marketing is working in chosen countries, if it plays important role in the countries’ economies, how fast this marketing sector is developing and how it looks like nowadays. In my case the focus is on the country called Georgia, because it was one of the most important and developed areas from all former USSR countries in the matter of culture, economy, and education and it is believed that it still has a big potential to develop further, especially in the way of modern social media, which has recently become a part of our everyday life.

In this bachelor thesis is examined the dependence of economic performance and economic growth of the country on income inequality, based on data collected upon EU countries. The literature overview describes the income inequality, its causes, development, impact and possible solutions to its reduction. Regression and cluster analysis was used to determine the dependence. The thesis shows that income inequality has a negative impact on the country’s GDP, but its impact on economic growth is not clear.

The objective of this diploma thesis is to suggest recommendations leading to improving firm performance, determined by economic value added (EVA) using EVA equity with INFA benchmarking system. Key performance indicators (value drivers) were identified by financial analysis and mathematical-statistical methods, mainly regression analysis. Recommendations improving key performance indicators of metalworking industry companies were suggested. These recommendations were used to create specific solution for main analyzed company HDO spol. s.r.o. Simulation of balance sheet and profit and loss statement was used to prove positive effects on economic value added.

Vojtěská, B., Sale prices of flats in the Czech Republic. Diploma thesis. Brno: Mendel University in Brno, 2019. Diploma thesis deals with the issue of price determination of flats. The aim of the work is to identify determinants affecting the sales prices of flats within the individual regions of the Czech Republic and also within the Czech Republic as a whole. In the chapter of the methodology, factors influencing the prices of flats are specified and subsequently appropriately expressed. Regression analysis results in two pricing models (for standard and alternative expression of variables) constructed using the ordinary least squares method (OLS). The resulting model showed that the sale price of a flat in the Czech Republic affects the number of rooms, m2, energy value, whether a terrace, balcony, cellar, garage or elevator belongs to the flat. In addition, the price of the flat is affected by the type of ownership, the condition of the flat, the type of masonry, whether it is located in the regional city, if there is a UNESCO monument in the city, and the locality, in this case designated by individual regions of the Czech Republic. Part of the work are also price maps compiled for the best-selling flats in the Czech Republic in terms of number of rooms.

Kačurikova, P. The Influence of Quality Factors on the Visitors Loyalty of City Areas. Diploma thesis. Brno: Mendel University, 2019. The thesis deals with the identification of the quality factors of the destination and the assessment of their impact on the loyalty of visitors to the urban area in the Czech Republic. Outside of this main goal, the satisfaction of visitors with individual quality factors as well as the significance of these factors in assessing the quality of the destination is examined in the thesis. The source of the data for this work is the primary marketing research carried out in the form of a questionnaire survey, followed by a multidimensional regression analysis in Gretl.

This diploma thesis deals with the CNB’s foreign exchange interventions that took place in 2013-2017. The thesis presents concrete recommendations for economic policy maker who consider using foreign exchange intervention as an unconventional monetary policy tool in the situation of ZLB. The recommendations are based on the assessment of the effects of foreign exchange intervention on the Czech economy. Specifically, the thesis verifies whether foreign exchange interventions really stimulated consumer price inflation in the Czech Republic. Moreover, the thesis verifies whether there was a change in the growth of labour productivity at major domestic exporters at the time of foreign exchange interventions. Last but not least, the thesis examines the impact of foreign exchange interventions on the CNB’s bottom lines in 2013-2018.

The aim of the thesis is to assess the predictive ability of financial health indicators to predict future business development. Analyze the weaknesses and strengths of individual components of aggregate indicators. The thesis examines the possibilities of prediction in the engineering sector. It evaluates existing creditworthy and bankruptcy models, examines their reliability, specificity and sensitivity. Furthermore, it analyzes individual components of prediction indices. The thesis also creates own multi-criteria prediction models.

This diploma thesis identifies major causes and potential solutions of economic crisis in Ukraine. The thesis also provides answers on two research questions: What type of crisis is the current crisis in Ukraine? What are fundamental measures to restore sustainable economic growth in Ukraine? For better under-standing of the impact of financial crisis on economic development in Ukraine was used a comparative analysis of macroeconomic indicators of Ukraine and three other countries with similar economic, geographic, historical and cultural characteristics, which are Poland, Belarus and Latvia.
