This article analyzes the colonial problem as a source of conflict. An examination of the territories still under colonial rule must be done by dividing them into two categories. Either they are the oddments of empire or they are located in the southern third of Africa. One might ask whether the process of decolonization will inevitable be carried to all of these territories. For one thing, there are militant international pressures against the continuation of colonialism. One of the major functions of the Organization of African Unity is to aid and promote decolonization in Africa. The United Nations General Assembly has also put itself on the anticolonialist side.
